Half Updo On Naturally Curly Hair

I couldn’t find any updo or half updo tutorials for natural hair. The fact that I have 3a/3b hair makes it difficult, too, because a lot of the tutorials out there are either for curled straight hair or type 4 hair. So here’s a really quick, easy formal or semi-formal style. Yay!

Come on get it together, hi friends! Welcome back, so I have a thing to go to you tonight, which is why I'm all like done up. I'M not just like super glam for no reason which I do sometimes for like YouTube videos or just not like just for fun. I was looking on YouTube for different, like naturally curly hair tutorials, for like semi formal formal occasions, and I found it very hard to find one that didn't involve a curling iron. That'S ridiculous, because there's a huge difference between naturally curly hair and curled hair. Anyway, i'm not sure what i'm calling this, but it's basically just like making an easy style. Look a lot fancier with the use of like a headband. That'S a really long title! So we're not going to go with that, but i have a freshly washed hair which, as i'm sure you know, it's not the best kind of hair to do an updo or half updo with because it doesn't have like any grit to it or any volume. So it's quite like small and flat, but i wanted the shine and definition that comes with wash day, basically so to try to give it a little bit more oomph and make it look not as like. Absolutely perfect, ringlets, i'm just gon na run my hair, my run my hair run my hands through it and just kind of separate the curls a little bit and effectively create some frizz. But that's fine because four is equals volume and then i'm also going to take a dry shampoo. This is the elizabeth and james nirvana black dry shampoo. This is actually it smells beautiful. So i use it like for special occasions for adding volume to my roots. So i'm just going to lift my hair up careful not to disturb like any of the curls on the top, because otherwise it creates like unwanted frizz and then I'm just going to blast my roots. And you can see it's white there. But we'll take care of that in a sec, go over here and do the same and then I'm just going to massage it in really really well, there's also tinted dry shampoos. If you don't want to deal with the the whiteness, so that's looking pretty good. So we've got some volume. Now I'm going to take a headband, so I'm just going to place it maybe inch and a half two inches back from my hairline. To put my hair up. I'Ve just got some of these clear elastics from the beauty supply store. They coming like a pack of like six million, literally, not literally figuratively, so I'm just going to gather these front pieces and it's up to you how much you want to do and just kind of like pick curls until you think it looks good and then same Thing on the other side, there's literally no science to it. It'S just like figure out what you think looks cute and go with it. Sorry, I'm not looking at the camera, I'm trying not to look at the viewfinder, I'm trying to look at like my mirror cuz. It'S a little bit better for details. I am going to take that front piece by the way. Okay, then, I'm gon na take I'm gon na try to gather it in like a little mini pony tail back there. You can't really see what I'm doing. Okay, I'm trying to gather it in like a mini pony tail is separated out and then I'm going to take my little clear elastics. You probably can't see that well at all put it around to secure my ponytail, I'm only gon na. Do it once. I think because they're pretty tight so once should be enough and then I'm going to take like one curl and wrap it around the ponytail. This is optional. I mean like all of this is optional, but, like this is super optional. Wrapping it around to kind of hide my clear ponytail holder and then just kind of tucking. The end in this is like the worst tutorial ever. You couldn't even see what I was doing, but hopefully you can like visualize it. I'Ve decided that this one curl is going to bug me because it's asymmetrical, but that's not a problem. This is how you can kind of trouble, shoot this style. I'M gon na take some bobby pins and just kind of pin it back. It'S also going to help hide um. This little flash of the headband here pin are back there, that's it. If i can, i will insert a shot of my dress and my shoes in my whole like completed, look here and that's it really. I hope you like it if you like this video, give it a thumbs up if you want to see more like it in the future, hit that subscribe button, as always. Thank you. So much for watching and I'll see you very soon, hopefully, but by
