So you work out a lot huh huh, huh, huh yeah way to rub it. In my face, my fat. We all have some burning questions when it comes to working out some questions like do. I need to wash my hair every time I work out is sweat. Bad for my hair and my scalp, and what styles and products can I do to preserve my curls? This is the most requested video in my comments right now and after doing some scientific research and trying out some hair styles. While I worked out for you, I have come to some conclusions and I am excited to share them with you. So without further ado stay tuned. I am your main girl, male and let's get to it. Ok, but for real do we need to wash our hair every time we work out and we sweat like the animals that we animals like the animals, that we are Renaud's, your animal? Well, here's the deal on sweat! Oh, I am so glad you asked hi I've signed tippy now, bringing you the actual, factual, nitty gritty scientific. Let'S get sweaty now our bodies sweat through two different glands. We have the eccrine glands, which are found all over the body and the Apple crying glands, which are found where there are hair follicles, your scalp, your armpits and other nether regions. Now, scientifically speaking, a perspiration consists of water, Neven, minerals, minerals like sodium potassium, calcium and magnesium, and only in those Apple crying glands found in your scalp and other hairy regions. There are other substances in our perspiration like urea and lactate. Now these things will make our milky sweat very, very appealing to odor attracting bacterias. You smell that yeah, that's disgusting! Luckily, some of those bacterias generate black acid, something you may be familiar with Queen confined lactic acid in food, which actually helps to lower the pH of food, so that dangerous bacteria can no longer survive. This similar circumstance also happens thanks to your hair follicles. They are naturally producing lactic acid. This suggests that sweat may actually keep you healthy by warding off certain microorganisms. Well, then, okay, then so is sweat, bad for the hair and scalp. Well, if you're sweaty and you stink, then you definitely should clean up as needed wherever you have. Those hairy follows, especially, but if you're worrying, if the sweat is damaging to your hair and your scalp, well, then listen to this fun factoid. Some of these components of the sweat have moisturizing properties, lactate and urea are found in many mooster izing lotions, so naturally, you hydrated, which is great also this modest quality of lactic acid acts as an antibacterial agent, which will actually protect your scalp from bacterial and fungal Agents so notice, what about the sweat ghost sweat but hold up? So does that mean I don't have to wash my hair after every workout? Well, no there's definitely a time and a place, and there comes a time when you definitely it's recommended that you should wash your hair, but you definitely should not under any circumstances, wash your hair every day, because in fact another fun fact alone, you will do damage To your hair, if you are repeatedly washing it day in and day out repeatedly wet in your hair down, will only lead to high girl fatigue, which is a whole other topic that we will get into in another video, but high grow fatigue refers to the damage Done to your hairs when you wet them and dry them every time you, your hair, the cuticle swells, absorbs moisture your cuticle flakes out and that process of opening and closing opening and closing, eventually wears down at your hair strand, and your hair sham will become more Porous which will then make your hair feel drier, and if your hair feels a dryer, then you're gon na want to put more moisture on it, which could fatigue it even more from moisture and it becomes a vicious cycle. That'S high grow fatigue in a nutshell. Now, if you want to learn more, let me know - and I will create that video ASAP, but the takeaway here is the less often you get your hair, wet and dry, the less damaged you will be doing to your hair fibers. So now, what's the solution to the stank, because I'm oily I'm greasy, I'm sweaty, I'm stanky, it's gross. What could I do what well? Luckily there are some solutions to this. There are ways that you can mildly clean and refresh your hair without having to wet it. Every single day, which you should definitely be doing, especially if you work out a lot and you want to keep your hair, nice and fresh. You should invest in some of these options, something like dry, shampoo, no rinse shampoo, now, which option is best for you. Well, if you have oily hair you're gon na want to use a dry shampoo dry shampoo is often contain oil, absorbing ingredients like starches and powders. That will prevent your hair from looking so shiny. Now I don't particularly use dry shampoo like ever. I'M not an expert on them. I do not have a whole ton of them that I can compare for you guys, but I do have a drugstore option here that I can show you - and I have this weed - add one which is a salon brand of dry shampoos, and this one is for All curl types it says this is just a very basic dry shampoo for volume. I like to show you what these both look like when I directly spray them in my hair. That'S gon na be a Meany, essentially shake it up pop it open part of your hair, keep a safe distance away spray. Oh my god! It smells really good. It has a really nice fresh, clean smell. You can't see anything, but if I show you this drugstore brand batiste, okay, shake safe distance, it leaves your hair white now you're supposed to leave it for a second. Let it work and then you massage it into your head. Usually, the white does tend to go away, but if you have very very dark hair, something to beware of you might see it in your hair, make sure you massage really well and instantly you smell fresh, look at this volume. That'S the benefit of dry shampoo. The volume is for real. I might just use this more often for funsies. Actually, this one's really nice. It feels really cool on the scalp. It'S a moisturizing dry shampoo. It'S got some oils in it, so it's not too too dry. Actually very nice now another thing you can do is use a no rinse shampoo. This is the type of stuff astronauts use when they are in space and zero-gravity. You essentially put this very liquidy substance in your hair, massage it and it's shampoo, but it doesn't need any water to set up. It will get sudsy. You kind of wipe away the excess product and you're left with a clean, ish ish emphasis on the ish hair. Now the problem with these no rinse shampoos is that they're not rinsing out so all the dirt and the grime and the product that you're adding is still going to sit in there. This is not a long-term solution. Eventually, you need to give your hair a very good clean, whether you're, clarifying or you're, using a very cleansing shampoo do that now, if you have more of a dry scalp and you are worried about using dry shampoo, because you do not want to dry or irritate Your scalp up any more. There are many other refreshing sprays that you can use. Some of my favorites are the diva fraiche. I just love the smell of this. I use this mostly on the ends of my hair, to refresh that stink. Moving on those are a few ways that we can preserve the smell and the cleanliness of our hair, but how can we actually preserve the curl shape because I'm trying to keep this wash and go going? Yeah? No, you know so, while I'm working out, I like to strategically place my hair in different low manipulation. Styles that are not going to alter my curl pattern. This is important style number. One is very simple. I usually just like to use an invisible, because this gives really low tension or you can use a silk scrunchie and I won't just plop my hair at the top of my head and a very loose hair tie. This is definitely one of the best styles. You can do to your hair while you're working out, because if you see it doesn't move at least not with the invisible. Sometimes, maybe, if you have finer hair, a silk scrunchie could slip out. So I prefer this kind of elastic if your hair is too short to fit all the way in the pineapple leave. Whatever hairs are sticking out, don't touch them the more you pull and tug at your hair. Remember if you're sweating, there's gon na be a lot of steam and it's going to eventually want to reset your hair in that shape. So, what's very important is once you are done, your workout! You immediately take out your hairstyle. Let your hair out! Let it go free that way it doesn't want to dry in whatever shape you had it. You want it to stay as natural low manipulation as possible. Another really low manipulation style. I like to do, especially since I have bangs, or especially when they were front. Bangs is using a zazzy band. This is a very special headband that is shaped like sunglasses, I just like it, because it's very comfortable and it's very loose like its little steep it'll stay on my head, but it's not constricting it's not too tight. It'S not wrapping. All the way around and ruining my hairline very gently just sits in my hair and as soon as I'm done, my workout or as soon as I can deal with my hair back in my face. I would just take that off now. If your hair is very very long, a pineapple is not a pineapple for you. It'S just a high ponytail, so it's top of the hair is waving around all over the place. They'Re gon na start to create friction so you're, probably better off, even very, very loosely braiding, your hair in a very simple braid cuz, at least that way, it'll keep all of the hairs together, so they don't get too crazy. Honestly. For me, I really like to wrap my hair when I'm working out. I just like to wear my bonnet to be quite honest, because this way I'm not creasing my hair, I don't have to put it in a ponytail or anything. It'S just tucked away in a safe little cozy environment. Now I've also had a lot of people reach out and say no, I can't wear my bonnet to the gym and there are alternatives to this as well. You can also use a satin scarf to tie your hair and a cute little scarf, and that way you don't feel like you're wearing your bonnet, but you're still getting the benefit out of that silky satiny material. That will not cause friction on your hair and keep your curls, nice and shiny. There are many ways that you can tie a headscarf. This is just how I had sometimes tie it. If you do want a more in-depth tutorial and multiple different looks with head scarves. Let me know in the comments below, but one thing to consider here is the fabric that you are using. The bonnets that I wear is a polyester satin, so polyester is not the most breathable fabric. Sometimes, when I'm wearing it, my head does start to get a little hot, a little bit steamy and that's why I take it off when I'm ready to air it out now, if you use a natural silk satin, the material will be much more breathable. You have more cooling effect on your head and you won't sweat your hair out too much just something to be aware of both do some good post-workout, hairstyles or anything where your hair is tied up contained in your hair and tying it up will prevent everyone around. You from smelling it because it's not flowing in the wind. The idea is not to rough up indents manipulate or do anything crazy to your curls, at least not on the first wash day or the first time you're working out. If we can preserve the curls. The longer the better and if there's anything you guys want me to try out, let me know again, I'm not an expert. I don't have like all kinds of different dry shampoos that I could have showed you today, unfortunately, but maybe one day I'll make a review on a whole bunch of different dry shampoos. Also, if you guys want to see more styles, that you can wear after the gym, I do have some styling videos on my channel. You should go check those out, but if you want specifically post gym, like maybe a great tutorial or certainly fun, tutorials well just request it below, and you never know it just might be the next video. That'S all for this week. If you want any details on some of the products I was using, or some of the accessories that I use, I will link them below. I also have all of my sources below so, if you want to learn more about sweat, then do that and thanks for tuning in we'll see you guys next week. Thanks, are you ready, kids? Ok, do you work out working out while you have curly hair? How would how would it be okay? Do it go time for fame can't be missed, so you work out, but first water, I've not even moving my legs can't wait to sweat that one out. Does that mean I don't have to wash my hair after every workout mm-hmm uh-huh, so you work out a lot huh Wow yeah yeah, we're gon na stop, wait a minute. Let'S get started huh. Will you rub in my step, fix I've bit the inside of my cheek yeah, that's disgusting! So no sweat, no sweat!

Cara Lausen: Would LOVE more headscarf tutorials! Could we get Amanda in on them too for curly/wavy girls with longer hair? Whenever I pineapple or do some of these top of the head styles I look weird af. :\

driftingofftosleep: Perfect timing Mell! The sweat from Pilates and running four days a week training for a half marathon has been taking its toll on my tresses. Thank you so much for posting this; I can't wait to watch it when I get a break from work!!

Adriana Hurtado: THANK YOU GIRL! I do HIIT workouts 6days a week and my hair was just a mess. Regardless, I only wash it 2 times a week. This week I have been using my bonnet (because I workout from home) and i love how my curls look, like I actually have curls and not just a DISGUSTING MESS. My husband cracks jokes when I wear it, I look like a cupcake, but this thing is a curl saver. Love it and recommended it to my family. Thank you for your advise, you are awesome

Kiersten H: Hey Mell, what do you think about the DevaCurl controversy going on about their products using damage? You've probably had a hundred people ask you this already, but I really wanna hear your take on it.

paulna85: I’ve always loved the sweat. I practice yoga every morning and it really helps me refresh. I see the difference when I don’t practice and sweat in the morning. Always loved this sweating. I’m happy this video validated what I’ve always thought worked for me!! ❤️❤️

Natalie Villacis: THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!!! I literally workout everyday and my curl care has gone down the drain because I have no idea how to upkeep it, and it’s so much easier to put it in a bun. I also work with kids all day so it’s easy to keep my hair up so it doesn’t get pulled. PLEASE post some headscarf tutorials! I am dying to try new protective styles with my hair ❤️

Victoria Bermoy: OMG Mell! I was literally just thinking about how to manage my curls during and after a workout! Thank you for this video! And yes... I would love to see more styles of how to wear your hair up with a headwrap/bonnet/etc. You and your seester are awesome. ~ Love, your fellow Calabrian <3

MaraudersMap: I've been dying to know this because I don't want to damage my hair thank you!!!

Katie S.: Hi Mell, I've been binge watching your videos during this quarantine. I am a yoga instructor and while I am not teaching in person right now, I likely will again after all this craziness is over. I shower and wash my hair every time I teach because not only am I covered in my own sweat, I am usually covered in my students' sweat too. I know ew. I like the idea of having my hair covered in a scarf when I am teaching but as the instructor I also need to look professional. I also need a style that is going to stay put if I am upside down and protect my hair from the dirty yoga floor. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Tiffany Abner: From one #CurlyWonder to another I can’t tell you how excited I was for this video!!! I really enjoy working out but I don’t enjoy having my hair suffer from it, you’re a true blue lifesaver I’m new to the Manes by Mell Community and stumbled upon your channel by pure accident after what seems like a never ending sea of “curly hair guru” channels and I’d rather be late to the party than not be at the party at all, lol!! Your YouTube channel and videos are AMAZING, the knowledge you drop is on point plus, your personality is positively vivacious So thank you for helping me to get my multi-curl type head back on track, healty, and stealthy

Chelsea Lockwood: My hair texture has changed from pin straight to more textured over the past 5 years or so, and I do home physical therapy exercises regularly to manage chronic pain and dislocations, so these tips are helpful!

Jordyn Aponte: You deserve so much more recognition than you get. Your videos always seem so well thought out and planned compared to others. AND SO FUNNY . I seriously love you ❤️

ASMRtist Studio: Omg this literally is the most perfectly timed video! I just started going back to the gym- and I’m still trying retrain my curls... I don’t wanna have to fingercoil more than once a week!!

Camille Wise: Thank you for this video, Mel! I loved your energy and you gave such helpful, well researched tips. Your videos are the best!

Elettra Claramunt: Great video! So happy to know I didn't do everything wrong! I'm going to try all the options you showed! I workout even 4 times a week, and I sweat so much... Since I changed my routine following your tips, my curls are so different! So happy! Thank you! :D

: LOVED this video! I work out 5-6 days a week and have been worried about the whole washing my hair for my scalp VS not wanting to overwash and drying out my lengths. I usually will wash twice a week and use dry shampoo on the other days. if my sweat is THAT extreme, I'll wash a third day but no way i can wash every single day. I use invisibobbles to tie my hair back very loosely too. Tying my hair back with work outs does stretch my curl pattern out a bit, but I happen to like the look of elongated waves so I don't mind! My two favorite dry shampoos are the prose custom dry shampoo and tweak-d by nature 2xl volumizing clay which works as a dry shampoo and treatment in one. I use either of those on my scalp and then a refreshing spray and a cream if i need on lengths. Please also do a hydrafatigue video. I'd also be curious to hear your scientific thoughts on "flash drying" please.

Carol Macartney: Hi Mel love your entertaining channel. I am a more mature lady (58) and post menopause. My hairdresser love my curly hair so we have been going down that road. However last few years I have developed fibromyalgia and have been air drying my hair more due to pain. I also have thick hair so it's always hard work to style so I just flat iron occasionally after air dried. Due to the dreaded grey I dye my hair. Tho grey is big in UK with the young team. Lol my curl underneath isn't too bad but top isn't great. Trying curly girl method for first time and it's hard. Any advice for a more mature lady. Love to you all x

Breanne Knepp: You my mane girl Mell! I’m thrilled that I found you! I’ve been a Curly Girl method preacher and loyal follower for over 15yrs; it literally saved my life as a puberty induced curly fro girl. But I am excited and inspired to revamp my hair care as it has sorely been neglected over the years. I work in a hospital and have to put my hair up, often to be beneath those OR hair nets from hell. (Insert GIF of choice here) so I’m wondering about more protective styles for under hair nets, helmets, hats etc. also, yes a scarf video would be fun. I am a sucker for buffs and that’s been me go to at work, but I’m wondering what your opinion would be on that. Keep em’ coming Mell, your vids are awesome!! Side note, i have hair almost exactly like Amanda’s. I too am of Italian decent, so I think we prolly have very similar hairs. thanks!!!

Jennifer West: I'm soooo thankful I found you Mell!! Been binge watching your videos the past few nights I've always wanted to wear my hair natural but was too scared and have had PTSD of horrible hair days because I didn't understand what products my hair needed to survive in the humid climate I live in. I love that you literally have a video for every hair concern that pops up...today's was 'how do I workout and maintain my curls' again thank you so much for all your amazing content, I appreciate you infinitely....YOU'RE THE FREAKING BEST ❣️❣️❣️❣️

Aranya H: Hi Mel! Thank you so much for your awesome videos! I’m with the other comments on here about advice for hair/curl care for swimmers. Swimming is my primary method of exercise and I swim 4 days a week. There isn’t a really a way to prevent hair from getting wet while underwater, plus pretreating your hair under your cap isn’t very considerate of the swimming facility as they request for people to shower to rinse off whatever products and lotions they have on before they get in the pool. If shampoo everyday isn’t good for your hair, Is just rinsing and doing a light co-wash good enough to get the chlorine out after every swim? Haallpp!!

Stoy Rawson: What would you recommend for someone that has to wear their hair out of their face and off of their neck for work purposes but wants to be able to let it down at the end of the day without harsh creases? Love your channel!

Marisol Villanueva: I needed this video!! I may not work out everyday but I have an auto shop and I am outside moving around all day long! Thanks for being so detailed and knowledgeable!! Love ya!!

Kenta Kamiki: you're literally one of the most entertaining youtubers in general. most of the time i find explanation videos BORING but you're just built different never change Queen <3

Heather Forte: Love this video! Can’t wait for the hydra fatigue video and how to get out of that cycle bc I think I might be stuck in it ‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️

Tacha: YES to the hydro fatigue video! Thank you so much for providing us with amazing and useful content!

anaykia: Hi Mell! Loved this video and your desmitification of the CG method video also! But I've got a question you haven't answered in this video and I'm dying to have an answer (cries desperately). I work out a lot, pretty much every day, HIIT strength workouts plus Brazilian Jiu Jitsu 4 times a week... as you can imagine I sweat a lot, and mainly after BJJ my hair is wet from the sweat. When this sweat dries out my scalp gets very itchy and though I try not to scratch it, I do, sometimes at night too, which results in me hurting my scalp. Like you said, I can't be washing my hair every day. I'm started applying some tee tree oil and water to my scalp when it's itchy but it feels like a temporary solution. Any advice? PLEASE HELP! :(

Lauren: Thank you soooo much for this!!! Questions are finally answered! Thanks Mell

Taylor Esparza: I love your videos. I like how you break down exactly why you do certain things and what it does to your hair. I’m really struggling with my wavy/curly mostly frizzy undefined hair and I’m hoping to lessen to understand my specific hair needs.

Amani Netanya: I am SUPER glad that I have found your channel Mel! For THE longest time I was trying to figure out how to maintain my mane, but was having no luck. The curly girl method worked for me for awhile, but eventually it got too expensive and there wasn't much growth in the definition of my curls. Since I "didn't have time to style/keep up with my hair" because I'm SUPER BUSY on the daily, I just opted to wear my hair curly on Sundays, then throw it in a tight bun or crown braided for rest of the week (*I KNOW, horrible for my curl pattern, but hey sue me lol). Anywho, I just started following your advice on how to wash and style curly hair on Wednesday morning and refreshed it this morning. I am beyond thankful that you provide such excellent advice, and would LOVE to ask you more questions about my hair specifically. I do have socials but currently do not get on them. I do have e-mail if you would like to reach out and help ya girl out! With Gratitude, Amani Netanya

Maya Montemayor: loved this vid! would also love an more in depth conversation about hygral fatigue. i’m a swim instructor and get in and out of water all day everyday, if you could also maybe mention how to best combat hygral fatigue it would be super helpful for me and hopefully other people too!

Manes by Mell: WHAT'S GOOD EVERYBODY!! At last, the video you've all been asking for!! But here's the thing.... There's currently a lot of talk and controversy around DevaCurl right now, and I know a lot of you are going to question my using of their products. Be assured that i am aware of concerns and the claims Deva users are making regarding serious hair troubles... This is one of the only products i really use and its mostly because the smell. I personally have not had any problems using this specific product on my hair, or of course would not have shared. Having said that, so many of you have confided in me sharing your personal experience with the products, and i know many of you want to hear from me what's going on. I am diligently researching and working on a video to help get to the bottom and explain the mess thats going on. Stay tuned for that video very soon, and remember to monitor your hair, only use what feels right to you, and make sure to clarify!! That's all I'll share for now, Thanks for tuning in, I hope you like today's video!! Lots of Love from both Your Mane Girl Mell and Scientiffy Mell, we will see you again very soon....

Adventuress Ali: Thank you so much for all your wonderful videos teaching me how to finally actually take care of my hair. You're soooo funny and entertaining to watch!!

meldan5: Have long curly hair and exercise an hour daily with hiit and weight workouts. I used to braid my hair but kept getting hit in my face with my braid, those ends are very dangerous! Then I tried the pineapple which ended up as a ponytail that fell out, I also ended up inhaling my hair which was gross! What does your seester do with her hair?

msadams224: Hey Mel! Please do a hydral fatigue video! I thought that it was just caused by applying moisturizing products on the daily and not the actual wetting process. I wet my hair everyday in the shower and restyle as well. I absolutely have to because my curls completely come out overnight despite efforts to preserve them. I'm wondering if it's hydral fatigue and how to bounce back from it (no pun intended!). Love your content and thank you for all that you do; I know it's hard work!

Jazmynn V: Really needed a video like this since I've been working out more consistently. I'm gonna try the loose braid out next time I workout!

Trish Alexander: I have currently started my natural curl process cause of watching your videos I am getting frustrated cause by day 2 my hair is getting greasy (I tend to be more oily)...can you pretty please with a cherry on top do a video on dry shampoo or dry shampoo foam for curly hair? Love you and your videos ❤️

Dawn Behrend: I would really like a tutorial on how to do a quick refresh and style after working out. Love all your videos and have learned so much!!

Elvin Jr Arroyo Muñoz: Hi Mell!!!! Love your videos. Cuz of you I started my curly hair journey.

RaineyRue: I would love to see some more styling videos with you and Amanda especially one with styles for people that have jobs that require their hair be up and out the way, whether it be food service, military, doctors etc. Is there a way to get your hair to look nice again after it's been in a bun or ponytail for hours or are you just better off just just keeping it in an updo?

NatalietheDoll: That headband looks great! I have combination skin, and the issue also applies to my scalp - sometimes I get dryness, and other times it's due to grease from sweat or covering my head, so dry shampoo only makes it worse for me. Head & Shoulders makes a no rinse, tingly product called Instant Soothe Scalp Elixir. It helps with itching and oil between washes, but how to combat that frizz at the crown of my head?

Erin: I work out 5x a week and STRUGGLE how often to wash my hair and over manipulation from scrunchies. THANK YOU for the advice!!! You’re amazing!! Invisibobble is LIFECHANGING

Kamela Diaz: I absolutely LOVE all your videos! You are so inspiring! Haha I have completely changed my curly hair routine for the better. ❤️ I have purchased just about all the styling tools, creams, etc I have a couple questions after watching almost all your videos, so here they are: I am still unsure of the shampoo I should be using? And also how do I know what products I should be mixing? What do you think of Prose?

killer bambi: Thanks for this video. I thought I was the only person struggling with my hair after the gym Please make a video about headscarf styles with Amanda so we can get styles for tight and also more loose curls. That would be great

Terena: MELL! YOUR HAIR IS LOOKING FABULOUS! It’s getting so long and so voluminous! I’m loving it! I’m loving your humor! (Definitely going to be a ME-ME ) and am loving your content! Keep on keeping on! Proud of you and what you’ve done! ❤️ you have hair GOALS!

Rachel Rhodanz: LOVE your videos!! I have recently started my curly hair journey and I'm so grateful to have stumbled upon your channel. I would love to hear if you have any ideas for dancers, specifically ballet dancers who have to wear tight buns day in and day out. Thank you for your content <3

Kristina Camaj: Spectacular videos Mell! Love watching you every Texture Tuesday :) When you have the time can you do a video tutorial on getting big voluptuous girls with lots of volume to the roots and around the crown? I am going to be in 6 weddings this spring/summer/fall and want to keep my hair 100% naturrrraaaaal! Thanks so much! I'll try to attach a photo for reference, YOU ROCK!!

Emily the Strange: Hi Mell! What's your thoughts on Phenoxyethanol? I was reading that it's harmful to your skin, lungs, and to your nervous system. I noticed that it's put in a lot of natural hair products to preserve them. Should we be avoiding it? Just wanted to know your thoughts! Much love! ❤

Zazzy Bandz: Sweet girl you are brilliant with your videos. They're always entertaining, informative, and keep me from getting any work done. Excellent!! Love you thanks for the shout out!!

Metro Manila: i just started working out and i had the exact questions so THANK YOU very much for this video!!!!

Rachelle Anne Gutierrez: Yay! Thanks for this Mel I really love all your videos. I cannot stop rewatching them all

mangoberrytea: I love using dry shampoo for volume! :) i would love to see post workout hairstyles!

Jade Free: Thanks so much for this video! Great advice as always! Much love ✌️

Chani Lerner: This was so helpful!!!!! I’ve noticed a change in my hair - it’s become really dry, even when wet ‍♀️ and now I’m thinking maybe it’s because I’m washing it every other day, because the change coincides with upping my workout routine.

Lesley Weaver: I literally was just worrying about thus because I work out 4-5 times a week in the morning before work! HELP!!!! And thank you for all the info ♥️

Angela Ruíz: I have hair just like yours and I've fighting with it for 25 years approximately. I started watching your videos last year and my hair is looking more healthy and curly as ever. I really thank you for that! I always been using a hair bun, to the point I've bald edges in my hairline. Can you do a scarf style videos and maybe how to grow or cover those bald edges? Thank you again and I really enjoy your videos!

karinac1999: Love the video, as always. But now I'm definitely curious about Hygral fatigue. When I remove my bonnet in the mornings, my hair is kinda all over the place and there are some stands that don't want to settle in the right place. I always have to refresh a little and I use my water sprayer to add some water and on some days I add just a little extra curl cream. I definitely need to know if I'm hygral fatiguing my hair! Thanks for all you ladies do for the curly hair community.

SUZARTE: You always have the answer for me Mel. Thank you

Sonya Morgan: Thank you!!!!! Love this video! I’m still Challenged on how to wear my hair during the workout being that my hair is past my waist and my curls tangle very easy so it’s not easy to do a braid.

Emma Stollwerk: Hi Mell! I would love to see a video on how to preserve curls and keep volume for people with finer hair that gets flat very easily! I have very soft low-density 2c/3a hair and if I manipulate it in any way my curls deflate! My hair takes the shape of whatever position it is in, whether its a pineapple, loose braid, even if I just rest my head on my hand one too many times throughout the day-- my roots get flat and my curls lose their shape. I would love some tips!! <3

Adrienne Fox: Currently working out while watching this I need my hair to still look good if I keep this up.

bridget hall: I use the DevaCurl diffuser after my workout on cold to dry up any sweat on my scalp! It really helps and gives it a bit of volume but I use the diffuser you recommended in a previous video for wash day. The deva diffuser really isn't that efficient in my opinion for actual diffusing but with the finger-like shape, it really is great after workouts!!

Janet Barra: Thanks for this funny and helpful video. I followed some advice in IG about doing a cast before the working out. I have tried it and it keept my curls pattern but I got lots of frizz. Would you recommend it? And sweat it is magic for me and my bottom curls. They ended up more curly every time I workout! X

Katerina K: I vote for more headscarf tutorials too! My main issue when working out is that I take mat-based classes four times a week and my hair just feels kind of gross after that. My current solution is to strategically fold my towel so it's clean when my head touches it (I know, super lame but it works) but more ideas on how to protect it from grossness are welcome! :P

Vernon Williams: Thanks Mell! You've been really helping this curly um boi on his lil hair journey. The rule still applies wash it when it stank and itches.

linda s: Hi Mell! I would love a video on different scarf-tying styles! On the topic of working out, I do Aquafit classes multiple times a week. I clip my hair up but it still gets wet at the nape of my neck. Does the chlorinated water damage my hair?

Jennifer Desormeau: Hi Mell and thanks for the great information. I would love to see a video about how different hair products or ingredients behave with different water types. I spent Christmas in SW Ontario and my curls didn't last as well as at home (NB). Since the products were my own, I assume it was the softened water.

Amy Ridley: Hey Mell, that technique for braiding long hair sounds great, do you know if there's any more that would be good? My hair is so long, maybe you could do a video with Amanda and show some more methods with her hair? Thank you! x

Rola Al Shawa: I KNEW youd cover me. I usually just showered whenever I wanted to... now I'm being more careful with my hair. And you've been my lifeline since I decided to actually take care of my hair.

Rexhina Ruci: I been following Mell's curly girl routine for a long time now. She is my inspiration.

Andrea Schmidt: This is great! But what would you suggest for very, VERY high-intensity activities like martial arts? I tie my hair back with a scrunchie, then take my hair out once I'm done. This helps relatively preserve my curls, but refreshing the next day is really hard because of the copious amounts of sweat and my hair rubbing on the mats, rubbing against my partners, getting stepped-on/knelt-on, etc. I do this five times a week, so washing my hair after every class isn't really an option.

MrsHNKeller: You crazy girl. Love it. Please, please do a video on hygral fatigue because I am that girl who likes to throughly wet down my hair 5 out of 7 days per week. I shampoo twice a week, the other times are either co-wash days, or a very wet refresh. No shampoo, no conditioner, no products, just water to reactivate existing product. Please help me see the error of my ways.

Nalani Crivello: Hi Mell! Love all of your videos. Wanted to ask about Kinky Curly Products, specifically the custard gel and leave in conditioner. Have you ever tried? Your hair is absolutely stunning. Out of all videos/tutorials I've watched on youtube, your videos are THE best! Thank you so much for sharing!

Laura Griffith: I’d LOVE some different ways to tie hair up for working out! Thanks for all your knowledge, it’s helped me so much.

Haddis R: Loved this video! I'm just getting into haircare and I've purchased some deep conditioners as per your recomendations. I was just wondering if you're supposed to apply the deep conditioner before shampooing or after shampoo/conditioner, hop out of the shower, and then rinse out later? I've seen a lot of mixed messages and I'm unsure of what to do!

Iván Cruz: Thanks for the video! Really needed this. Also would love to know more about hygral fatigue <3

cassandra cano: a queen who works out for her followers youtube concers <3

Mary Ouellette: Yes, please, a headscarf tutorial ! Love your videos, Mell ! ❤️

Anne-Marie Dion: I would love a tutorial on protective style - scarves or buns or anything that could work with curl just below chin. I workout 6 days a week. Since I am transitioning, I don't expect my curls to survive for very long after day 1, but I would like to make sure I have a cute protective style I can rely on, while I workout and after. Thanks!

Tricia Grace: Love your videos. They are incredibly informative.

Dyani: I would LOVE a video in different ways to wrap my hair in a hair scarf!!

The Vintage Cowgirl: I would love more scarf hairstyles! Especially for long curly hair!

SEO McNeo: The head scarf video would be super useful, especially in time for Summer.

Gab Bee: Hey Mel! A video on different scarf styles would be pretty cool

Inmaculada Muela Adamuz: Mell and Amanda you have helped me a lot with my very curly hair!! You both are a curly hair angels!! It will be great to see a video with headscarf styles. My face is oblong-oval shape and I don't like my fringe. Until know I have always straight my fringe but I am tired of it I want to keep it long and curly like the rest. I hope it grows quickly and I can have a fringe like yours! If you free and you want to do some video about oblong face/curly hair styles IT WILL BE VERY WELL RECEIVED TOO!!! THANK YOU FOR ALL WHAT YOU DO. ALL THE BEST! Inma, Spain

Margot Skadberg: Headscarf tutorial, bring it on! Ever time I've tried one on my own it just looks goofy. Kudos to your suggestion about using the bonnet for home workouts. I have very little luck with hair ties, even the invisibobble, messes with the curl pattern.

The magic of Reiki: Hey girl, I've been watching your videos for a minute. And I love you your personality your hair and all the information you bring to the table. I was wondering if you came across. The situation people are having with the devacurl stuff. Now, I'm a big fan of that product and there's a lawsuit going against them because of products been given a lot of women issues. Have you heard about this?

J Nelsimpson: Fantastic Mell! Great info---y ou is saving our curls YET AGAIN! XX

Ashley garza: This is great advice. Can you make an updated workout video with Amanda’s hair length? My hair is the same length as hers, I would love to see how these techniques work with her hair. Thank you. Blessings.

Emilie Klem: You got answers for questions that I haven't even thought of asking but needed

Noehmi: I recently started watching your videos and I have to say...you are hilarious!!!!! I have super coarse, thick, long hair and its been hard to find products that will give me that hold but still be soft. I have tried DevaCurl but have found that my hair says no bueno to it lol. I am currently using JessiCurl and find that my hair loves it!! I dis like refreshing my hair during the week and usually only wash my hair once a week. I seen the finger coiling video you did of your seester lol Amanda and think I may try it. Can't wait to see more!!!!!

Xan: Hi Mell! This is awesome! I love your videos! Would you be able to do a video on SUPER short hair? I have halle berry length 3b/3c curls, and I feel like the styling process is a bit different because it’s hard to diffuse and then fluff. Most of the time my curls just feel plastered to my head lol :p

123 nct: I'd love a video on hygral fatigue!! Especially since I use very little product and that produces good results for me, buut I feel like over the years my hair slowly becoming dryer

Ceri: Hey! Any pointers for when you have to do sports wearing a helmet? Sometimes it'll refresh and bounce back but not after a particularly problematic session with the horse. ;) Also, YES to the headscarf tutorial! <3

Erme Art: Great as always! Any tips for dealing with the chlorine after swimming?

Tahiry Millan: Hi Mell!!!! Love all your videos!! I was wondering if you could do one about deep cleansing your scalp and scalp care. Thanks a bunch u rock the socks!!!

K Shuttup: YES thanks Mell i needed this video! also, i was gonna ask about devacurl but then i saw that you addressed it in the comments anyway, loved the video AS USUAL. thanks for the nitty gritty scientify facts❤️

Mandy62277: Im new to watching your videos and I just love them! Your hilarious and I absolutely LOVE YOUR HAIR! ❤️

Shanira: I ALWAYS have to refresh. I've tried so many ways of applying styling products but none are ever lasting into day 2,3, or dare I even try, 4. Trust me when I say I've tried sooo many techniques and products. If y'all have suggestions let me know. I do have a concern for hygral fatigue but I don't really know what other way to enjoy my curls. ‍♀️

Adorable Godzilla: Yes to gym headscarves tutorials AND pool hair care if you swim almost every day (pre conditioning all the hair makes a swimcap pop off) and the current advice is to pre-soak hair with tap water before putting the swimcap on (so any chlorine can't enter the hair shaft) which means washing your hair every time you swim.

katelyn jordan: I feel like this video was literally directly to me! I mean I had definitely commented about this topic and am currently watching with a massive smile while on the elliptical! So like I seriously love you!!!!! You’re ama-za-zing!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
