Rylan Creates Quick, Easy Wand Curls For Short Hair!

For today’s hair tutorial, Rylan shows you how she #curls her hair! She cut it about a year ago, and is really getting good at styling her shorter hair! This is a great #everyday #hairstyle because it looks so polished, and it’s so EASY! Mornings can be so hectic when you’re running around doing a million things, so finding a cute, simple hairstyle to feel more put together is such a game changer!

Step 1: Pull top section of hair up into a hair tie.
Step 2: Starting with the hair closest to the face, curl each piece of the bottom section of hair towards the face. Hold each piece for 10 seconds.
Step 3: Run fingers through the hair to loosen the curls.
Step 4: Take down the rest of the hair that you tied up, and find your part.
Step 5: Repeat step 2, curling the top section of hair towards the face. Leave about an inch of hair off of the want (when the ends aren’t curled, it gives more of a beach wave effect which is a little bit more casual for day to day!)
Step 6: Tilt head upside down and shake hair to loosen curls.
Step 7: Part hair wherever you like it.
Step 8: Do a final look over on your hair, and re-curl any pieces if necessary.
Items Needed: Hair tie, 1” curling wand
Time Requirement: 10-15 minutes

( light music, ), (, upbeat, music, ), Hey guys, it's Rylan Mindy's 13 year old daughter. And today I'm doing something you guys have been asking for a long time.. For about a year now, I've had my short hair and I figured out different techniques and stuff for how to curl my hair to the way I like it, and I just finally figured it out. And you guys have been asking so much for me to do A video on it., So here I am doing my Rylan Curls, that's the title: Rylan Curls, her hair. And I'm going to show you guys how to do it.. But before we get on to the video make sure you guys check out my Instagram, my handle's right here @ rylanoliviamcknight and let's go to the video. Okay. So the first thing I do is I'm gon na pull half my hair up., And really this doesn't matter at all.. I curl my hair normally in the locker room after volleyball, so my hair is already halfway up just like this.. This is how I play volleyball.. So I walk in and I just go straight to curling, since I only have about 40 minutes to get ready in the morning.. I'M just trying to do my curls as fast as I can., And with this I can normally get in under 15 to 10 minutes.. So the first thing I'm gon na use is the Hot Tools. Professional rose gold, one inch curler., So I use just a barrel, not a curling wand, because I don't need to clip it or anything since my hair's, so short., Okay, so the first side I'm going to do is I am going to take this front piece. That'S closest to my head and I'm going to actually curl it the opposite direction. So I'm curling towards my face and make my face. Look all weird.! So you're going to held it for, like 10 seconds. You're, going to take if off and kind of pull it brush it out with your fingers. And them I'm going to take another big section and curl that the opposite way from the other piece so that I Get multiple row directions and not just one big curl in my hair. I only do two layers on my hair. When I'm curling it., I don't need to worry about the under layer cause it's so short.. So, as you can see, I kinda didn't need to worry about curling these., Just take the front piece and brush it out and now I'm going to do the back. ( upbeat music, ), Okay. So once I have finished just the brief layer of this part of my hair, I'm just going to undo the top ponytail or bun and I'm going to part it kind of evenly. So I'm not curing more hair on one side. And for me it doesn't really matter how I part it and curl it, because I just end up shaking it all together and at the end, it doesn't really matter how you separate the curls.. So I just don't like to spend too much time on this side because I have more hair., So I'm just going to evenly part it and just start from the top and just do the same thing.. So I'm going to curl away from my head on the first piece so that it has a good shape.. Okay, I brush through it. Gon na, take the other piece and curl the opposite direction. Now, for this part, I'm going to need to take any pieces. I find that are straight or not as curled, because this is the top layer, and this is basically the final look.. So if you find any pieces you're going to just curl them give them a little shake., ( upbeat music ). So I finished this side., I'm gon na run my fingers through and make sure every piece is looking the way I want it.. This is not the final look. I'm going to part it and do all that, but I'm just going to make sure I didn't miss any pieces and make sure everything looks how I want. ( upbeat music ), A good tip for people with short hair. Like me is that when you are curling your hair like, for instance, let me just take this piece - I actually wrap it around and then I leave like an inch off so that when I pull it off, the ends aren't curled too. So that like, if you see it, just kind of sticks, down. And it just kinda - gives it more of a beach wave vibe.. So it's just a good little tip.. Okay, I'm almost done. Just getting a few little pieces.. So I finished curling my hair and now I'm going to actually tilt my head upside down and just shake my hair everywhere. And that sound silly but I'll just show you.. This is my way of just softening up the curls, and I just put my hair back up and just kind of get an idea where you want to part it.. So I comb my hair with my fingers, because if you brush it the curls go away. If that makes sense. The curls kind of loosen up too much and then they're not there. Or if your hair's like mine and super thick it just like, gets super poofy and crazy.. So I just use my fingers and my hair is kinda poofy right now, but it'll settle down.. It takes like 10 minutes for me. And I'm just going to go back through and look and make sure I have everything the way I want it to be. And I'm just going to finish it up. (, upbeat music, ), Okay. So now I'm going to give you the final spin. Here we go. ( upbeat music ). Thank you guys so much for watching this video.. It actually only takes me like eight to 10 minutes in the morning to curl my hair, which is very helpful in the locker room when you only have like 30 minutes to get ready..
