Don't Forget To Live Your Extra Life.

Hi beautiful one of the first things i ever learned had to do to hair is braid, and i am fascinated by how these black men and women can do these braids so well, it is unbelievable and people are very skilled. I am not quite there yet, though, i'm gon na watch some tutorials. Hopefully i don't make a fool out of myself. This is getting ugly, i'm definitely gon na get a little frustrated. I can already feel it brewing. So let's do it so we're starting off basic. Okay, we're starting off with just a regular cornrow for beginners. The most important thing i want to learn here is how to place my fingers. I always do it like this, and i'm supposed to be doing it like this, like the pro braiders right on top. This is by kelichi mcbemina. Let'S see how it's done for this entire cornrowing process, you're going to be needing three fingers from each hand, you're going to be needing your thumb, your index finger as well as your middle finger. These fingers are going to be doing doing the entire work now we're going to be looping each hair strands across each other and while we're doing that, we're making sure to kick the hair from the back. So that way it controls and it's not a break. Basically, i don't know if i can do this guys. I feel like i'm gon na, be so embarrassed today. I would really like to not be embarrassed and like have this come out good, but you know sometimes you just got ta bite the bullet and just hope for the best. Oh, my god, i hope to one day be as talented as she is, so we're gon na take a really thin section at the front, because that is what i was told to do. Oh, okay, so here's the issue. I don't know how to like maneuver it. So that i can get my fingers on top like she does, i really want to like. Do it like this, where my hands are underneath, but i'm supposed to be doing it like this all right. Let'S try it come on. We can do this and record myself at the same time. It'S fine right, nope, it's not fine hold on. Let me just get it started, because i can't do this on camera right now. Am i getting it debatable? Am i struggling yeah all right hold on i'm starting to get somewhere with this wait a day, i'm second, this is so much easier. This way, i don't even know if i'm doing it right with the hand placement, but it's working, no there. I lost it again. I'M really struggling trying to show you guys this. While i do it, this is getting ugly, oh, no! No! No! No! No! No! So my parting is the thing that i honestly was not even thinking that was gon na be bad. I was like the least of my worries and, as you can see, that looks bad, but i'm telling you guys, you can't really make good parts when there's no hair at the scalp okay, i mean i'm kind of happy with the way this came out, especially with, Like the new overhand, like sort of pinching technique that i just learned and we're gon na go with it, that was honestly really helpful, though, to learn how to like do this kind of overhand. It makes it much easier to pick up the hair as you go. Ah, this thing is on her scalp, it's like hard as a rock, so we're taking the one in front putting at the back and picking up the hair at the back, taking the one in front, putting it at the back and taking it taking another hair at The back mine's ugly um - i am gon na - keep it at just this one, because i got lucky, it looks decent. I'M a little annoyed, we're gon na go with that, yeah, okay, great okay! It'S time to step it up a notch. We learned how to do our regular cornrow and now i'm getting very scared, because not only could i only accomplish one to my own standards, i have to now do a zigzag cornrow. We'Re really gon na test me today and this video is by ida kiraya. So what she's first doing is sectioning out a pretty large section. What is going on now? What what is this put it in a hairband, whatever you can to not get them confused with each other whoa? I would have never thought about doing it this way. Okay, so these are the sections, so i'm just parting off, like a half an inch section at a time and putting one up and one down, i can section hair, take a small segment from it. It doesn't have to be a lot all neat where, where are we going with this? Put that on the sides and the idea is i'm gon na go down here and then continue? Oh i'm just going to take off the excess braid. How is she doing this? To her own head, this is elite, braiding, now she's, literally turning the braid on her head, while she braids and then feeling for where that hair is oh. This is magic, then turn it in the direction that i'm going in look at the c. She has now we're gon na go zigzag zigzag and she could probably do this in five minutes. Turn my hands around so rotate my hands from this position. Okay, i can try i've seen enough. This is gon na, be the easy part right, um braiding, just this one section downward nope, not the easy. Oh, oh, okay, all right don't combine the two sections. Let'S keep these separate. Okay, i lost my section. Okay go over there go over there and stay there. Oh, my braid looks twisted and awful i'm having a hard time picking up from one of the sides, because there's no hair on it, but whatever happens here, we're keeping it. Oh, this looks good, it's not very close to her scalp, but i'll take it now. She kind of braided a few times down, ew mine's so loose wait. So you expect me now to go upwards, um and braid. That way got it. Okay, uh! This is where i get really confused. I'M gon na have to put her head down because, like otherwise i can't do this. Oh this is the ugliest braid i've ever seen in my life no breath you were doing kind of good. I got so ugly. Okay, i'm gon na. Take that i'm not gon na be picky today we're gon na go back down the other way. Oh my god, i'm definitely a dramatic person but like right now i feel, like i'm not being dramatic, i'm embarrassed to show you what i'm doing it's not going well. Um, i do probably have to start over and i'm going to have to cheat i'm going to have to because this is just not going to happen the way i want it to i'm going to have to put her head in my lap in a non-suggestive way. Okay, don't be weird, i'm going to take her off the stand and i'm going to turn her head as i break, because you know what i'm not this good at this okay, sorry, i didn't mean to get mad, i'm just a little frustrated on me. Do it? What is this? I'M gon na blame the hair i feel like if i had a good scalp and i was able to make good partings. I could make this look neat, i'm blaming the head because i have nothing else left. I could try to do it again and i'm sure i would get better as i keep going, obviously, but that's where i'm gon na leave it today. Okay, let's move on to something even harder, because that sounds like a great idea: there's actually two things that are harder and it keeps getting harder as we go up next, we have the zigzag cross, i'm sorry what this video is also by ida. So my first section i want is here - and the next part i want is here so now - i'm just going to twist the middle one to keep it out of the way yeah yeah got it. What that's not right! It'S not even like a little bit right. So we're just gon na twist these sections we're currently not using to get them out of the way. So here is my sectioning, that's it. If that looks confusing, i would have to very much agree with you uh and we're now just gon na braid up and down again, i don't know i'm just gon na. Do it so, okay, i'm putting her in my lap i'm over it. I feel like no matter which way i turn her. I still can't do it all right, a little baby section to start and then fingers over no not like that. Brad not like that. That'S not the way, we're doing underhand right, because that's what we've been doing the entire time and that's what you should keep doing. How do you guys see what you're doing i'm just grabbing at a random, hoping that it's the right section? Okay, now we're crossing over we're getting our sort of like zigzag formation in this braid looks terrible, great. Okay, awesome i've lost my overhand grip, i'm trying to work it back up that ain't, it love. So that is like the first part, and now i have to cross them. Okay, let's see how see how my girl did it here, then that one's done so i'm just going to apply it down a bit because i'm leaving it halfway. So i'm just in front of her hair right now, pack that down and then remove your twists. You do exactly the same thing with the other flat, the other camera. Oh no, you made that look way too simple. Do you see a crossing? Oh, my god, i'm so excited yeah yeah. Yes, why is this braid coming out so much better? Oh, my god, i'm like happy but annoyed. Oh god. I still can't seem to do those like that. Like overhand thing or maybe i'm just not trying - that's probably it. Okay, there we go we're doing the overhand now, no we're not we're lost it again. Yes, okay, listen! I know this, this isn't great, but i did crisscross applesauce braid and it's staying whoa. I feel like i'm, actually progressing and i'm very excited about it, because i know if i just practice this a little bit more, i could actually do some really beautiful braids and thank you ida. What would i do without you? I'M ditching the tripod. I can't handle this if i ever braid somebody's hair, like i'm gon na, have to have them lay in my lap. That'S the only way it can work. We have one more braid to go. Yes, i'm sorry, you still have to be my client for another. Like 30 minutes, if you thought brad, what what could you possibly do now um, let me show you what i can possibly do and what i'm going to do. It'S a heart braid! This is by glam femme, hair and beauty. Teach me how to do a heart. Braid, this part doesn't have to be perfect because you are going to clean it up quite a bit as you work, so i'm going to go in there and just kind of create a dip in the middle. So that way, i can kind of visualize where that heart's going to start - and i realized i wanted a bit more of that arch to the heart i like to work at it in increments like this, because it allows me to more easily kind of see what I'M doing and visualize - oh, i see it after i've done that i'm going to pin the excess hair out of the way part down the center and i'm going to separate that into two and separate those into two subsections going horizontally. My mental health level has completely just disintegrated throughout this video, and i am this close to calling it quits. I'M gon na go ahead and begin braiding upwards, and we're just going to do this entire little part line. This way now i like to break down my braids to where it's basically a bunch of straight - oh, my god, partings or straight lines. I just feel like it makes it easier for people to understand the patterns and then we're just going to braid down a little ways, and i will put a duckbill clip on there just to kind of hold that securely. I always start off with a very small triangle in the corners it just makes the braids look a lot more neat you're, going to go ahead and round out the top i'll, just lay one on top of the other and we'll duplicate those strands. Okay, middle strand. Right strands right, strand, left, left strand and then just continue braiding right on down. I wish this was tequila instead of water right about now. Let'S um attempt to form a heart, we're gon na like round out the heart part. I need your head attached to a body ma'am. Can you please put your head back on the body? What what i can't even part, the hair? Okay, we're just gon na start off with a triangle. Okay, i have successfully sectioned a heart which honestly that's all i can do. Then i'm gon na be happy with that. That was impressive. For me, it is way harder to section a heart on a head rather than just like watch somebody. Do it try it yourself? It'S really hard. Okay. I have successfully made my sections now, it's time to braid i did half of the heart braid. It'S not great, i'm not surprised by that, but it's there. Let'S finish it now. I have to somehow combine these two braids never gets easy huh. I mean i accomplished the task so much worse than i thought it was gon na look, but it's a heart, i'm a colorist! So don't come for me, i'm not a braider, and i leave that up to the black community to be the most exquisite braiders in the world, and you know your little white boy over here is not trying to not trying to compete. We'Re gon na forget that i did that one i feel like that's all i really can handle today. I honestly had a plan to do the entire head, but let me tell you after doing this. After doing this heart braid, i just feel like that. Wouldn'T be a good idea for me, it's just all i have in me at this point. I hope you can accept this love this heart that i made for you, i'm so sorry, i can't braid anymore today. That'S all i got in me, i'm so sorry to myself and to you guys, i'm embarrassed because i like to be good at everything, but sometimes you just got ta admit to yourself that you can't be good at everything. I know i'll get better with a lot more practice um and i clearly need more practice with braiding all of you that were featured in today's video you're, so great you're, so amazing at braiding. It'S incredible! You make it look so easy if you like, to check out any of their channels. They are linked below i'm gon na keep going with this, and hopefully one day i can. Ni La: Brad, the head in lap method is literally how many of us grew up getting our hair braided. That it was intuitive to you is impressive!

Vandy Vanity: Grabbing at random s**t sounds about right! You’re so entertaining, I love your videos. Fr tho braiding takes so much practice to master and you did really good for your first time. Need more tips join us at BraidSchool

Natalie J: I have a mental breakdown just trying to braid my straight hair in a single French braid. I will never understand how people can do teeny tiny braids like this, it’s insanely impressive.

Tosin Adegbola: When I saw "world's most complicated braids" I wasn't expecting to see our everyday Nigerian hairstyles But I remember learning to braid at 11 and i can say that this guy did a great job

Jai K: My mom taught me to braid on my dolls head (when dolls had "good" hair) when I was 4. By the time I was 14 I was the go to braider among my friends and in my neighborhood. The first real head I did I was 12 and I had braided my cousin's name in his head.

Yaya DIY Creations: You did great for your first time Brad! Most of us have a lifetime of experience and technique passed down from generation to generation. I have been braiding my own hair since I was 7. I hope you keep practicing! I love this video. ✨

this is me: i want a series where brad learns to braid and we see him growing and getting better and better.

Ixchel Gil: I am Mexican and I've been learning through YouTube videos from dutchess braids how to braid because my kids are half black and I want to be able to do all the styles for them! It's been going well. They're 7 and under so not very cooperative as of now but hopefully in the future lol

Shelbie Mua: Love this, I wish we were included more. Especially by anyone that tells me they’re a professional hairstylist but refuses to learn other hair textures.

Janae Bailey: You made me feel so talented I’m black & I braid my own hair overhand cornrows, box braids etc. But you did wayyyy better than most for your first try

GlamFam Hair & Beauty: Thanks for featuring my video! I will say braiding on a real scalp is significantly easier than doing so on a mannequin. You did well!

Glamorous Stargal: As an African braider learning how to braid was quiet easy.Started braiding since I was 6. You did good for starters but you need to remove any doubt about not getting it right. Try placing the mannequin in between your thighs to get a firm grip. I could teach you if I were there. Goodluck.

Richard Woodard: I must applaud Brad because a lot of Caucasian hair stylist not to be funny at all no hating or shaming always say they do not know how to do African-American hair I feel if you're a hair stylist you should be able to do all types of hair that's why you go to cosmetology school. A lot of African Americans can do Caucasian hair I just never understood that at all so thank you Brad Mondo for even trying to take the time to learn

Concetta Green: I love that you’re learning and exploring so respectfully. This video is funny and so real . Learning these braiding techniques is hard and takes time!

Shiann Lewis: 11:45 I legit did my first heart as an experienced hair braider for 9 years and I was like ok I got this and i was the same waaaay … keeping up with trends I’m like so proud of you BRAD YOU GOT THIS HONEY YOUR SUCH A PERFECTIONIST YOU DONT HAVE TO BE SO PROUD OF YOU

Carine S: As a black woman who has been cornrowing my own hair since I was 8, I appreciate you for this video. And putting the head in the lap IS how we all got our hair braided as kids. Brad, you are amazing for a beginner braider.

Komoya: I love the content Brad is making learning about black hair

Mulatto Jae: I just want to say I love how respectful Brad is towards other races, so kind!!! To be honest for your first time braiding you did really good I’ve seen a lot worse! ❤️ Such a sweet heart, love watching your YouTube videos, always good energy!!!

queenbeemo42: My son is attending barber school and they’ve been teaching him how to braid. It’s totally outside of his experience but he absolutely loves it. He’s always had great fine motor skills and it’s his favorite thing to do. He tells me he’s the best braider in his class!

Juxtapose Beauty: The confidence kept being on 10 and I kept faith in you the whole time. Good job on the heart. It's so great to see someone not afraid to fail. Very enjoyable.

LhaidyBrezelle Burton: Glad to see him learn black hairstyles. Maybe the issue is the hair on the mannequin is more of straight strands than the normal natural feel. You’re amazing Brad !!!!❤️

Heather pickett: You have to love Brad's refusal to back down from a challenge. We should all push ourselves to learn to do hard things. Great attitude!

A beautiful family: I’m a black stylist and I love the fact that you acknowledge that braiding is a specialty that a lot of black stylist are known for when I got board with traditional black hair styling techniques I went into color and realized it to is very hard and challenging. You can get better at braids if you practice just like I got better with color as I practiced.

Whitney Girl: I love how you’re willing and eager to learn about all different hair textures❤️ curly/textured hair is a whole different world from smooth/straight hair❤️❤️

Kibibi Joseph: As a black woman who’s been braiding her hair since I was a teenager I found this super entertaining you did well Brad!

Gracie A. Hines: For a beginner, I think you did a pretty good job.

Colleen McBride: I used to have Bratz and barbie styling heads in elementary and middle school. I taught myself how to braid, then french braids. Then I had the thought of doing like 20 cornrows. I would braid and braid until the plastic hairs started cutting through my skin . I got to the point to where I could do zig zags, cross overs (as I would call them), and spirals! Haven't braided in a long time.

Oculus: I've been laughing my ass off at this because I understand the STRUGGLE. I love braids so much, overhand and cornrows take such skilled precision

Corwin K: Love highlighting black braiding, acknowledging how freaking hard it is and the massive involved and shouting out the expert creators. Very cool.

Toilet Lee: So glad your willing to learn how to do black hairstyles! While it’s important for hair stylists to be able to work with all hair types, many of them don’t know how to do black hairstyles unless they themselves are black. Kudos to you, Brad!

Gilli Fish: I braid hair for a living and let me say, hair type and health make a HUGE difference, European hair just doesn’t tend to braid well. These braids you’re trying to do are GORGEOUS!

Malonie Penn: Brad, you did so good ♥️ I find it easier to braid underhand as well lol. Thank you for this! It’s encouraging to see a hairstylist get into the culture

7 7: Brad you did great! Loved this video so much I am mixed race with curly hair & it made me so happy to see you explore hairstyles for different hair textures along with your eagerness to learn something new to you it was very entertaining & funny too! We would love to see more braiding videos from you! love you & your channel!

Ebony Harris: Dude I don’t braid. You impressed me. Everything you did was a winner for a beginner. Bravo.

Riddle Harriet: When Brad takes the head off and puts it in his lap I'm literally laughing out loud cos that's how I always used to get my hair braided when I was younger . That's the way you start Brad that's the way you start!

Ds Youman: Please continue to spread this energy. So many white stylists to not care to know what to do with our hair

Kim F.: Don't be embarrassed, you did a good job for a first-timer.

Melissa M - Naturealizta.beauty: U did a good job, I learned at 8 to do my siblings and I , but it takes time to learn to cornroll in different styles. I like this video a lot. Black hair styling is very underrated as an art and a skill. A BIG shame it’s not taught in hair school.

J. Jefferson: Thank you for your appreciation for braids. When I was in middle school my cousin was braiding my name in my hair, everyone would be so amazed lol.

Andrew Dugger: I love the willingness to learn. Is there a chance we could get a series with you featuring natural hair stylists? That way, you can learn and so can your viewers who might not have experience dealing with black hair.

Karla: As a black woman with a daughter who has a head full of hair (and still can’t braid) I am impressed!!!! You did 1000 times better than I ever have. My go to is two strand twists

Freali: one of my classmates has a crossing cornrow and a heart cornrow in the same hairstyle and I cant even imagine how long that took. The sheer amount of patience and pain tolerance required to get those braids done never ceases to amaze me.

nikkijeans10: Thank you for respecting our culture , this is taught to us by ancestors from one generation to the next . I'm glad that your not like some of people that make fun of our culture like it's a costume instead of it being part of a races heritage our ancestors that were held in slavery used cornrows to hide food because their master felt like they didn't need to eat that day also the cornrows were braided in different styles because they were used as maps . But thank you and your doing a great job .

Raphthalia : Brad I can't thank you enough for doing this video. It really brought back memories of learning to braid. Thing is alot of us, not all, learn to braid from really young, but it honestly just takes practice and in no time you are a pro.

Felicity Hunter: Brad the SECOND you put that mannequin in your lap you became one of us in my eyes. I have so many memories of sitting between my mother's knees as a little girl as she did my hair, passing out 20 minutes in from having my face pressed against her thigh, and waking up hours later with a fresh new do!

writerspen010: As someone who can only do Dutch braids well, and kind of French braid, I'm impressed xD imo you did well for a beginner, and I think it's great that you're willing to learn and showcase techniques from another culture

Quessia Ntsame: I’m so proud of you, it looks good don’t worry ❤️❤️❤️

Eniola Ariyo: I think I’ll start appreciating Nigerian hairstylists more cause you made this seem so chaotic ❤️ and they just do it like it’s nothing

quiqui: You did really good to be honest!! Your thought process is just like mine, I’m still in the regular cornrow phase trying to perfect it

Taj Simms: Brad as a black person I love how respectful you are and that fact that you’re willing to learn about our hair is everything! Please continue to learn about our hair and making these videos!

Elviona Emanuels-Hooi: This video was so fun to watch, especially when I learned to do all of this 2 day ago and had my exam yesterday. The struggle was real

Yanique McDonald: I love Aida! Her videos are really straight to the point she helped me to braid and part my hair ❤️

Room Design In a Box: I have to tell you how much i love the Beautiful and loving way you embrace other cultures and how they do their hair. Your passion for all types of hair, styles, care and techniques is infectious and i love watching you!

Shiann Lewis: I’m so excited to watch this video I’ve been on your page 2 weeks or less and your such a magnificent person, this is my PASSION BRAD so let me get into it baby I know you got this so happy to see you literally will do anything from such a pure place in your heart of complete efforts I’m just happy for the positivity !!!

Mirra Rae: As a black women this video makes me filled with joy. I'm just happy that as a hair stylist you realize this is a difficult and beautiful process that all black people learn to specialize in. Your attempt on that mannequin head isn't unlike how any of us started. I started to practice on dolls before braiding all of my older, I can guarantee you'll be better the next time.

Samuel Jackson: Honestly watching you learn is somehow entertaining. Your joy in learning is flat out refreshing. Keep this up.

Nique Nique: You did your thing ! please keep being versatile . this will make all woman happy because we can relate when we say we want our hair done. introduce it to your clients.

Vickie Boone: You're adorable and funny Brad. You did a great job for your first time.

Ken Johnson: I'm black and I've never learned how to cornrow, but as someone who's had this done to their head before, you're not doing bad! This was fun to watch.

Big Idiot: This should be a continued series to see how much better he gets as he keeps practicing, even if its just like cuts of him trying once a month or something, would be great to see his progress

LN: Bless you Brad...I love your videos and this was almost the exact monologue and breakdown I had trying to learn to braid my husband and son's hair. The hand placement....ugh! Give me starter locs, 2 strand twists, box braids...I get cramps when I try to braid this way. And a mannequin was useless to learn, I just had to have a very patient husband.

Rachel Tortilla: I’ve just started playing with braids. I’m not nearly as good as I want to be. My cousin is amazing. She has done some amazing things with my hair. I would totally let you braid my hair Brad.

Ally McGordon: You did a great job I like your videos and it was really fun watching this one. Thanks for even trying. Many of us know what it’s like laying in our mother and grandmothers Laps while getting our hair braided❤️

Cree Strong: Proud of you, Brad! I appreciate you making the effort to learn about how the black community treats hair. You did a great first attempt!

Michelle: as a white girl who cannot even french braid, these are MIND BLOWING. the zig zag one would take me a lifetime to do. the talent of these black men and women is unmatched

Dreyvion Hanna: I love how he is open to learn about our culture braiding is a sacred and expresses us

Kellie Keaton: I wanna start first by apologizing for laughing at your frustration lol. But I do appreciate you for making this video. Cornrowing is a true art. I learned to braid at 5 years old, watching my mom who was a braider. Started braiding others hair (for coins ) when I was 12. These braids seemed so simple to me lol, but I do remember the frustration of first learning the techniques. I applaud your effort!

RuthMcDougal: I love this video! Also more power to you Brad, I try to watch even a French braid video and end up crying and throwing my computer away, haha. I’m Black and struggle with braiding. Also putting the mannequin in your lap made me laugh. As a child that’s what a lot of us do, sit on the floor between the knees of our mothers/aunties/etc while they braid our hair.

Ms Leah: This video was so fun to watch! I was literally rooting for you each design You're so awesome Brad

Alex Libby: I’ve always appreciated that Brad has acknowledged how minimal education in styling black hair is, and how few hairdressers are knowledgeable in this I appreciate him taking a video to show himself trying to learn some techniques and though he’s a *hair* colorist I’d love to see if he continues practicing and shows improvement

mwangope: omg i laughed so hard! But you did such an amazing job Brad, you should be proud

well.: Love this lol. Love the appreciation to the black community and u did a great job!! You’re still awesome at coloring hair so we can ignore this lolll

I don't want To add my name: I've been braiding since age 7ish and even though I've practiced for years your first cornrow is still better than mine.

Bad Moon: I'm so proud of you!!! For your first tries those are so cuteeeee

Jaelynn Grace: I love that Brad has a black Ms. Mannequin just to do black hairstyles literally this man's so driven to do anything for the profession he loves and for his fans.

Olivia Mckenna: For your very first try at this it’s absolutely incredible

Amaya Searcy: For you to have just learned how to do this, you did a really good Brad! Don’t be so hard on yourself! You are doing great, and it’s also hard to do on a mannequin instead of a real person because the head isn’t moving. I’m honestly so impressed!

Nicola Jones: Amazing skills❤️love this video my hands are aching just watching well done Brad x

TiSHA: Go brad you did good it’s easy to braid your own hair once you sit there and do it enough and I like how your actually trying and not making a joke of our hair thanks for that ❤️

Michelle Trocine Starr: I learned how to do cornrows when I worked at a daycare center a long time ago we had a little girl she was 3 years old and her mom had passed away. She had a single dad that raised her and he had no idea how to braid her hair. One of the women I worked with showed me how to cornrow. He would bring her in early sometimes and I would cornrow her hair for her. To me it was very similar to doing French braids and I learned extremely quickly. This was about 20 yrs ago. What an adorable sweet little girl. I wonder what she grew up to be. You got this Brad!

Nikki Webster: Hey Brad Mondo! Love this video! Here's a hint: placing your hands on top of the braid versus under allows you to pull the hair tighter which gives you better control and allows you to stay closer to the scalp. If you're game for a followup video, try this. Otherwise thank you!

Vanessa C.: My mom braids my hair like this sometimes. Great video I really enjoyed it

Orien Conway: This took me back. Sitting on my grandmom's porch getting my hair braided by my older cousin. Yes, we all had to put our heads in laps to get it done. Lol

Anne Charles: Just by watching this video, I can tell you are an immaculate hair dresser. I think what made me fall in love with your channel is your willingness to incorporate every one and that is really beautiful to me. You are extremely talented. And PS braiding on a manikin is like the hardest ish ever

AriyaTheDoll: I want to see brad collab with a braider to tech him the braiding above technique because that shit is hard to do watching a video . So brad you winning fr . Especially with this being your first time . My first braids looked SUPER bad and I had a hands on teacher . It’s really just technique and practice . Keep going and you’ll be a perfect braider .

S. C: Brad you did awesome for the first time braids. My first time was terrible lol. As a black woman whose been braiding since 9 years old I've become so accustom to how easy it is for us to do any design. But seeing Brad try this made me realize this thing is a skill we learn which is passed down from many generations for black hair.

Briy Mo: You did great! I’m honestly so proud. Keep at it for real you show great potential.

C.A. Marg: As a black woman who was never allowed to wear braids at school I love your respect for black hair styles. I love wearing braids now and I love how you didn't insult our hair while making this video. Thank you!

Chereece Cat Polk: Brad you did pretty good for your first try! Thank you so much for including the black hair community! I have never seen a video like this(not saying they don't exist) but I really enjoyed this!! Keep up the great work!!

spidergirl176: I'm a black women that just turned 22 and I still have never figured out how to cornrow myself lol I make my sister do it for me

JazzyLUV: Brad you did such a good good job!! Your making me wanna try cornrows!

Ms Joseph: The first braid you did looked great In my opinion ❤️

Nails by Knotty: Awesome first try!!! been cornrowing hair since about 11 on my younger sister and myself. It's not easy starting out, but with practice, you are gonna nail it! Please continue expanding your knowledge and skill #themoreyouknow And when you do, make sure you record it!!!!!

Francesca Perron: I'm a white girl but I'm so happy that he has so many videos covering natural hair. There is such a lack of education regarding natural hair. I went to school for makeup and hairstyling (not cutting or colouring just styling) but we only practiced on straight hair and I always wanted to be able to style every hairtype, and these videos help so much!

Yaenette Dixon: Many mother’s braid their daughter’s hair by putting the head in their lap so kudos to you and your efforts!

Windy Davis: I APPLAUD YOU for your Effort! Bravo Brad Mondo I’ve been braid since 3rd grade and I’m an adult and it was hard until 6th grade

Nia Macfoy: That first braid is arguably better than my always braids and I've had my hair type my whole life There is a Whole lot of room for a new field of hair range for this guy.

Nerissa Sagaran: Well done Brad, I love that you attempted it this and gave credit where it was due♥️. Keep it up

I AM: Excited that you enjoy complicated braids it take time, to learn. Just imagine doing these hair styles everyday, with your hair or with extensions or even on your own with just a mirror it is talent. Thank you for sharing brad Mondo

Lamaingauche: Having a black hairstylist giving you a braiding lesson would be a fun video to watch! :)
