Hi, ladies today, I want to share with you my beachy waves hair tutorial, so I recently cut about six to seven inches off of my hair and it's been so fun playing with new hairstyles, especially beachy waves. I think it's totally in right now and I'm loving this long table style. So if you guys have thick hair - and you want to know how to achieve this, look let's get right into this tutorial. So I like to start off by applying a little bit of dry shampoo. This just helps to texturize the hair and also keep it fresh and I go ahead and I apply a lot of it onto my roots. I love this scent. This ones or big gold must dry shampoo and then once I've applied it onto the roots. I just like to really let it soak into my roots, and then I go in and brush it and then from there. What I like to do is apply a little bit of oil today, I'm using the living proof, no frizz nourishing oil, one of my favorite hair oils. Now my I've used it so much that the little nozzle doesn't really work when I'm just gon na apply a little bit onto the palm of my hand, and then I'm going to take this oil really warm it up inside of my hands and then apply it To the ends, this just helps to keep your hair, nice and moisturized and nourished and then from there. If you want to determine what your part is on your hair right now, I have a very natural side part, but I'm gon na go ahead and change that a little bit and make it more of a medium middle part. So, let's see we might have to brush your hair out a little bit. I love using my wet brush. I just find that it's super easy to use, especially with thick hair. Okay, so now that you have your styling products in your hair, it's time to start. Okay, so I have my flat iron: it is heated up to 440 degrees. So now, what I'm gon na do is just grab these front two sections and clip everything back with an alligator clip, and that way I can just focus on the pieces that I really want to work on, and everything else doesn't need to get in the way, Especially when you have thick hair, you know it gets hot quickly and it can get tiring quickly. So I like to just start from the Friant specially, because this is like a very messy undone beachy wave look, so I think it's okay to start really wherever you want. I just like to go right in the front, so I'm gon na be taking about 3/4 to an inch sections to get that nice beachy wave and I'm gon na grab my flat iron and first just run it through and then I'm going to grab it from A little bit past the root, and then you just take it you twist ever so lightly twist again, and then I like to grab the rest of the hair and I just bring it slowly down and then what I do is I twist so, as you can See it gives you that really nice wave and I'm gon na move on to the next section, so I'm gon na grab another piece and I'm gon na. Take the flat iron again go one time through. Just to you know any sort of frizz ease out and then twist and then twist again and pull it all the way down, and then the key for me is to also twist my hair afterwards and that just helps to kind of seal in that really nice Wave and then now I'm going to go on to the other side same thing I like to curl away from my face. I just find that it gives me a little more volume, I'm going to go through once and take these twist and then twist one more time. We fall all the way through and you might find that sometimes it falls out if you have like any sort of knot. So just try it again right and then take it all the way through and twist, and sometimes you might find that it's not curled as much as you want. I like to kind of just go through my entire hair and stuff. You know get these waves and then I'll go back in once everything has been curled and touch up a couple sections. If you want a little bit more curl and I'll show you guys that, at the end, they're just really loose pretty waves would give you this piece and really I mean, even with super thick hair using the flat iron. You can get done with this. In like 15 minutes, which is awesome, sometimes I'll get different types of curls like you'll, see this one's definitely looser, and then this one's more bouncy. But I love that because again it's that messy texture. That'S that, like perfectly undone look and I find that that looks really awesome, and I also find that using a flat iron helps in keeping the curls left. You know lasting even longer, so I like to mix it up, sometimes I'll go ahead and curl my hair with a curling iron and other times I'll use a flat iron. It really just depends on your preference and what type of curl you're looking to achieve so that took no time at all, and I already have these pieces all nice and curled. Now I'm going to go ahead. Take my hair out of the alligator clip and grab some more to try to expedite the process. I'M going to speed up the video but I'll show you a couple different sections, so you guys can see what I'm doing so. I just went ahead and grabbed this side, I'm going to clip the rest back and then I'm going to go in and again with one-inch sections makes it easier to put that amount of hair inside of your flatiron, depending on the size, and one thing I love About this, flatiron is that it has the curved edges, and so it makes it much easier to curl with it. I find that if it has more of a flat edge, it's a little bit trickier to get that pretty curl. So just see you know whatever you have, you can make it work and also, depending on what type of beachy wave you or you're looking to achieve, like some people like to start their wave a little bit lower down the hair, so just depending on the style. You'Re going for, if you want more volume, I suggest starting closer to the root. But if you're wanting just a slight bend in your curls, then I would say start a little bit lower and you can also brush them out too and I'll show you guys that also because I'm gon na first just curl these sections. But then I will go in and brush them out. So it's a little bit more of that messy wave and you don't have to worry about this being like super perfect, because it's just a fun easy, hairstyle. Okay! So I'm getting close to the back and I'm going to grab these the last couple of sections just twist, depending on how long your hair is, you might find that you're not able to twist as much as you know. I have like a layered long bob, so my back sections are definitely shorter than the front, so I'm not able to twist the Flatiron as much, but I will show you guys how I do that. I really just pushed it more like one time. So this whole section is completed now I'm gon na go ahead and take down another piece on this side. I'M going to take this full section and then flip all this back and I am loving alligator clips they're just so awesome for separating your hair when you're doing any sort of hairstyle. So I definitely recommend if you've never tried them to pick some up because they really help, especially with thick hair. It'S like such an awesome tool to have so you might find that you pick up too much. Hair like this is probably a little bit too big, but I'm just gon na give a shot and pull down and then twist I might have to go over the section one more time, yeah, because it's just too much so I'm gon na take a little bit Out and then try again it's all trial and error. So I know some people, depending on your natural texture, will add a little bit of beach wave spray. You can definitely do that if you want a little bit more texture, I just happen to have naturally pretty curly hair, so I don't need really that many products, but I could definitely they recommend like unite speech. Spray is awesome and for a drugstore option. The john frieda sea salt spray is really great too, and I would recommend applying that right before you flat iron and curl. It will just give you a little extra styling help for staying power for these curls you'll, see I'm just holding your and then pulling gently and that just helps the curl form and I'm gon na grab this last section here, pull through okay. So now that all of this is done, I just really have the back to do and, as you can see, my back is definitely the shortest area of my hair. So what I like to do, for that is I'm gon na go ahead and grab like the top half section of the back and just clip it up and I'm gon na start with the under part. So this might look a little funny, but when I just clip it up and then I'm gon na grab this whole back and it's really just going to be about two or three sections but same rule applies, I'm just going to take a little piece and just Curl and pull right through, and it just gives it a really cute little curl. It'S like a mini curl same thing goes for the second section. This part goes super fast cuz. These these pieces are really short and then, on this side, this piece right here you just twist. I think what I like about using a flat iron as well to curl is that sometimes, especially if you're a beginner to curling your hair, a curling one, can be a little bit daunting because there's always a risk of like burning your hand, and I've definitely done That but at least with the Flatiron, it's a little bit more controlled with the heat so you're able to get those sections without feeling like. Oh, my god, I just burned my whole hand, and it really does give you a nice curl, just a different style of curl. So again, it really depends on the type of curl you're trying to achieve. You can get beautiful ringlets with having the the curling wand, but I'd really am loving this a for the beachy wave. Look now that I have just this whole section, I'm going to go ahead and do exactly what I just did and that's breaking it in half again, so the back is just becoming three sections. I had the lower part. Now I'm gon na be working on the middle part and then finishing up with the top, and that's just because my hair is so thick, but these parts are a little bit longer, so just go in and twist wrap it around and pull down. I'Ve also seen some techniques where people like to do alternating curls, so one you know altering to alter a date. Alternating um versions of the curls so like you'll, do one section to the left and then or to the front, and then you'll do another section to the back. It really just depends on the type of pearl look you're going for I like to do them all towards the back, because I feel like it just opens up my face a little more, whereas I've noticed when I pull it towards the front. It'S like all of them fall forward, and so it's just a little bit too much. So, let's see, I think, I've gotten everything in the back and now we are on to the final section. Look at all that hair. That'S still left, so I'm just going to drop it and then start picking up these pieces. So we have right here, I'm gon na curl that again, just because I dropped it before I got to really relieved yeah much better. What I love about this look too is I found that I could sleep on these curls and that they still stay really nice, if you just add a little bit of hairspray, which I'm going to show you this, so you can always grab and pull up. If you want a little extra volume, but still same rule applies, you do a one twist. You know I'm going to take this one on this side and you just have two more pieces right here. Animals appeals. Actually, this hair is still pretty thick. So I'm going to pull that forward and do this piece in last and last piece one pass and twist alright guys so now that it is completely done all around I'm going to take a look and see. Are there any crazy pieces that I'm not loving? So this piece right here is a little too loose for my liking, so I'm going to go ahead and just fix it up much better. You see that it's a much looser curl or much bounce your curl. Now the same goes for the front on this side. The twist and now what I like to do is just kind of rake my hand through my hair and see if any pieces need to just be loosened up. So it's not so curly. Let me go ahead and zoom out a little bit, so you guys can see, and my final step is to apply a little bit of my shine spray, and this is sparkling soda, shine, mist by dry bar and then also. I will finish up with a a little bit of some hairspray, so my final step is to apply a little bit of finishing spray and I'm using the Kristin s, signature finishing spray. This is amazing and you can find it at Target. I just like to lightly mist it all over to give a nice light hold and then that's pretty much it. This is my everyday beachy waves. Look now with my shorter hair. I love this look because it's so nice and effortless for just on the go, and it also lasts a really nice amount of time. accio serena: FINALLY someone who actually has thick hair!!! I was getting so sick of seeing girls with a 1/3rd of the amount of hair I have making "thick hair" tutorials

Harra: This helps so much!!! All the tutorials are for thinner hair and i just dont get the same results. Seeing this helps a ton!

Nin: Your hair looks great! You have such a great thick healthy texture! ❤️

Libby Santilli: Yes! Coming in clutch for us thick haired gals!

my grandkids are very epically cool: So happy to find you! My hair is healthy and thick at age 62, probably my last remaining good feature, LOL! thanks for showing me how to NOT be frumpy!

Elizabeth Edge: I always come back to this video as it’s the only one that shows how to style actual thick hair like mine!

sunny richardson: Thank you for helping someone with super thick hair.

Valerie Stevens: Love thick hair tutorials - mine is insane and I can't even use regular hair elastics - they break. Can't use clips, they don't close. I would love ideas - but I'm also a scientist and I have to have my hair pulled back while at work, but I would like something fast to do before work, during meetings and after work. I just am tired of a basic ponytail. I also have thoracic outlet syndrome and can't hold my arms above my head for more than 20 seconds before they go numb. If there are methods to curl thick hair and sleep in the curlers, I would love non heat methods bc just flat ironing my hair painful and difficult. Request - pls keep "for thick hair" in the title so I can search easier :-)

Lexy Tisnado: Love it!! Thank you

Karine L.: Hi! Thank you for your video. Do you like using curling irons as well?

Waiting2soar13: Beautiful! When u get a cut what do u ask for? No layers but do u get it thinned and is there an angle? Ty:)

Mary Jimenez: Hi love your video! Where did you buy your hair clips?

Susan Randles: I have very thick hair but I find I spend time curling it and as soon as I go out the curls drop so annoying
