SILICONES TO AVOID, investigate anything that ends in xane, cone, conol and col. There are a few fragrances that are ok that end in one (so confusing)Here are some common silicones:

Hi Sky's curly Suzie here and I'm here today to tell you my five tips or tricks for getting through the transition phase of the curly girl method. So for those of you who follow my channel, you know that I have not straightened my hair in one year. I have been following the curly girl method for a year and I've eliminated heat. I stopped using silicone sulfate and I did everything to get my hair back to his natural curly state and it worked really well. But yesterday was a year since I started and I decided to flat iron my hair just kind of for experimental purposes and also because I wanted to shoot a video about how I used to straighten my hair, but anyway. Now that my hair is straight. I know one thing for a fact when I go to start my curly girl method back again for another year today. My hair is not going to curl the way it has been curling and yes, I know I only flat ironed it once so. The damage, I don't think is permanent, but it's gon na take my hair at least two weeks to remember its curl pattern. So I think this is a great opportunity for me to show you what the hair looks like in the beginning of the transition phase and if you might tips and tricks for how to make your hair look. Okay, for the first few weeks or months that you're going through the method now, obviously my hair is like a wavy curly. It'S not super super tight and curly, so my tips and tricks might not work for everybody, but I'm gon na leave a little tiny clip here of what my hair looks like another thing that you may not know if you're watching me for the first time is That my hair is bleached blonde underneath so I only have about you can't even see it. I only have about two inches of regrowth. I had this weak moment a couple of months ago and I just decided to bleach my hair blonde after, like taking care of my hair for an entire year and getting it back to being healthy. I must have been like stressed out or like been on my period or something like that and just went out and bleached my hair like who does that but anyway, so my hair is quite a bit more damaged than it looks, but you will learn what I Do to make my hair look as healthy as possible, so anyway, I'm trying to keep this intro quick and to the point, so I'm gon na go wash my hair now and when it dries you're gon na see that it's not curly the way it was like. Yesterday or the day before, and I'm gon na show you things that I do to make it look better, while I'm going through the transition phase, I hope this video is helpful if you're following the curly girl method or you're, considering following the curly girl method, please Subscribe to my channel, I post at least one curly hair video every week, if not to and my hair is still a work in progress. So I'm still testing out different techniques and products, and I will be posting a library of videos on my channel for you to use as a guide. Alright, let's get to the video tip number one has to do with your hair color. So, unfortunately, if you have dark hair like I have naturally and you're constantly bleaching your hair blonde, it is not going to make for a good experience, so you need to start working towards having healthier hair. In order for your hair to curl, I'm not saying that you can't go blonde again like in the future. Once your hair is growing out and it's healthy, then you can have it highlight it and gently go back to having blond hair if you like, but for starting your transition back to having curly hair, you are going to have to make some sacrifices. So here is my advice: if you have bleached blond, hair and I've been there, what you need to do is go into your hairdresser and have them Bay, Lodge or ombre your hair in a way that your natural hair color is going to start growing down at The root and then there's some lowlights down through the blonde. What that's gon na do is you're still gon na have some blonde hair, so your hair is not going to be drastically darker you're gon na be adding minimal color to the hair and then, as your hair grows down, you can just trim the hair little bits At a time until you have your natural hair color, now I'm not saying you have to have your natural hair color to have curly hair, because I mentioned before my hair is bleached blonde underneath and it's still curls. You just want to get rid of all that old, damaged hair, and I think that that is the quickest way to do it. I also don't recommend going and coloring your hair super dark, because, when you deposit a bunch of dark color on your hair, that's already dry and damaged it's gon na make the ends. Look too dark and they're gon na look frizzier and worse than if you just did some lowlights and gradually trimmed your hair, get a trim, and yes, I'm gon na get to styling tips in one second. But these are my two biggest tips is to go. Get a trim and do not go and get your hair cut into a ton of layers at first. I would just trim like a good two inches off the bottom of your hair and then maybe get a couple of layers put into your hair. Do not let your hairdresser use like thinning, shears or a razor, or anything like that at this point to cut your hair, just tell them that you want a couple of blunt layers and if you have a good hairdresser that is willing to listen to you and Your suggestions, then that's what you will get number three is bobby pins, bobby pins, bobby pins, so bobby pins basically saved me in the transition phase. I'M gon na kind of explain what I did so my hair actually does not look as bad today as I thought it was going to. But when I first went back from straightening my hair everyday to having curly hair, there was parts of my hair. That was just complete frizz that would not curl at all and mostly around the top of my hair and the ends of my hair. So what you want to do is you want to strategically style, your hair so that it looks as good as possible. So for me, and I'm gon na look in the monitor for a second, this underneath part of my hair, even when it was really damaged this part of my hair curled a lot. So this is the part of my hair. I want to showcase - and I want to hide some of my hair - that's not curly, but in a protective way, and what I mean by that is you don't want to pull anything back too tight because then you're stretching out the hair and you can cause breakage And damage and you're also you're, also I'm getting fired up. I can't even talk you're, also not letting your hair find its natural curl pattern, so you want a pin. You want to pin back your hair in a way that's loose, so what I would do is I'm gon na use a claw clip today for like demonstration purposes, but I would just pin back this part of my hair right, like that, makes a huge difference and Then like little pieces, so it's super loose right and then little pieces like this. You can take a bobby, pin and loosely pin them into your hair. You can also like twist them a little bit and pin them if you don't have any curl definition on the top. So like all this, you can pin it, but then the problem is, I don't know if you guys can see this. This back part of my hair looks kind of ratty because again that's the driest straightest frizzy as part of my hair. So then I would take more bobby pins and I would loosely talk those ends under the clip and pin them into more of a bun. So when I was transitioning, I wore my hair like this a lot or like this and again it keeps my hair off my face and it really doesn't look as bad as if I was trying to wear it all down now. As soon as I got home from work or wherever I was, I would let my hair down, I would scrunch some conditioner into it and I would just let it be wild, because I was in the comfort of my own house and I really didn't care what I looked like, and I don't even know if what I'm doing is technically finger coiling, but basically I'm gon na comb, my hair around my finger. So, let's call it that for right now, but I just have a spray bottle that has two-thirds water or, let's say three-quarters, water and 1/4 conditioner in it, and I just shake it off by my little spray bottle and I'm gon na use a bobby pin or You can use those little springy clips that are really popular, so I'm gon na take parts of my hair that aren't really curling that great on their own, I'm gon na encourage them to curl. So let's say I was going out somewhere and my hair was like this and, like all this hair in the front is straight right. So while I'm getting ready getting dressed or whatever, I'm just gon na spritz, some water and conditioner on my hair. Well, there's a lot of conditioner right, so it's damp okay and I'm gon na twist, my hair around my finger. I don't even know if you can see me doing that I'll get closer. Oh, my god, my poor hair and then I'm gon na keep twisting I'm gon na curl it curl it curl it. If I can find a really good video on how to do this, I will post it in a link below, because I find with my camera. You can't really see the detail and then I pin that and I'm gon na do the same with this one. So I'm twisting twisting twisting and I'm gon na wrap it around my finger. I think I did this one a little bit better this time and I'm just gon na pin it to my head. Oh, my god look at all this, then you just let it air dry or whatever, while you're getting ready or you can take your hair dryer on a low setting and give it a little blast. And then, when you take the bobby pins out, oh this did work. For me, I swear yeah. We take the bobby pins out. You have curls, so I don't know why I may put them in the front of my face, but you can either you know, move them over to one side or you can just this one didn't dry see you have to let it dry all the way. This one dry perfectly but like that's like a beautiful curl and you can just either pin it or you could do it a little bit more strategically than I did and let it hang right, Swee slow, my fifth and top secret tip that I can't even believe That I'm admitting to ever is I did it. There was a two weeks where I just had to do it um, and I knew that I was cutting the bottom few inches off my hair anyway, so all I did was I took my curling iron. I put it on a low setting and if I had a couple of hairs that were just completely out of whack or if I was going somewhere and I had to look nice - and I was just my hair - was crazy because the other thing about the curly Girl method is you're experimenting with products in the beginning, and until you get it right, you might have some really frizzy hair days. So I would take this and I would say: okay: Susie you're only allowed to curl six pieces of hair. So, let's find like a really bad one like that's, not even that bad, my hair actually guys like it's in such better shape than the first time. I did this okay see these. Let'S just use this for an example like this won't curl at all. Like look at that, that would be sticking straight out of my head and I would just take my curling iron on a low setting, and I would just curl just that much of my hair and you know what to be honest, eventually you're gon na get it Trimmed off anyway - and I just told myself, you're doing a really good job you're, not washing your hair, with sulfate you're, not using heat on all of your hair. If you have to curl a couple pieces girl go for it, whatever it takes to get through see, and then I would just kind of tuck the end underneath so like. Let'S find another piece that I would do that that actually turned out really well the finger. Curl um, oh there we go like see this. I take a couple of these. Oh hide. My babies in here with me, as per usual, he's the best, not a curl, when his head back. You know I just do between four and six pieces um. The other thing, too is my hair is trimmed, but if you didn't get your trim yet you're gon na have pieces on the bottom of your hair that are completely fried that won't curl that you're gon na cut off anyway. So you could take those pieces. Take your little curling iron and just curl them under like a tiny bit like I mean an inch of hair, don't get mad at me. I did it. I admit it I'll. Never do it again, I'm sorry, but anyway, those are my five tips. I hope you found this video helpful. I hope it makes it easier to get through your transition phase. I'M gon na be posting a video at least one video a week, if not to, as I experiment with more aspects of the curly girl method - and I will see you in my next video bye.

Delphi333: Thank you for this! :-) I'm going through my transition phase now and my hair is definitely in that weird, frizzy limbo...plus I have grays coming in so it's a mess. This gives me hope that "this too shall pass" lol and I appreciate all the great tips on how to handle those weird pieces that just don't want to cooperate! I have a job where I need to look nice and professional and I can't show up to work looking like a wild woman so this really helps - thank you!!! :-)

Andrea García Marmolejo: The fact that you straightened your hair for the video, as a way to really show how to recover it, makes you a very professional and dedicated youtuber, good video and good work, your videos have helped me a lot, thank you very much. ♥️

Victor Relmek: You're describing my hair! Flat on top and curly on the bottom.

narcissa: I've been toying with the idea of trying out CGM for a long time now, and I decided this quarantine situation will be the best time to start, because I don't go out, my hair can be as frizzy and weird looking as it wants. And it sure is, as I have dyed and heat styled it countless times for the last 6-7 years, but with every wash I see a slight improvement, a little bit less frizz, a little more curl, and I just wanted to let you know, that your vids help me soooo much, thank you! I'm so excited for my curly hair journey and I can't wait to see what my hair will look like a year from now! ❤️

Amanda Robbins: I'm a hairdresser and I've always used tons of heat and colour and good shampoos but not cg friendly. I want to ditch what I've been doing and embrace the wavy. Your videos are really helping me x

Candy Kinsey: Thank you for admitting to using the curling iron. It made me feel much better as that has been my go to when I really needed my hair to look good. I used to flat iron sometimes twice a day. I’m not going to feel guilty about occasionally curling a few strands. Thank you!

Lesley Darling: Thank you for saving my sanity with a curling iron! The bleached ends of my hair do not look cute right now and giving myself permission to heat curl them until they can be cut off is a game-changer! Love your videos!

Aphrodyuti: I have not seen another youtuber this dedicated just for their subbies. You actually are going to go thru that painful transition phase just to show us how it looks and what to do. This means a lot for us. Thank you. May God bless you with your channel

Barbara Forbes-Rhouni: I’m so happy to have found your channel! At 52, I’m finally “learning” about my natural curl. Just bummed I didn’t know all this about 30-35 years ago! I know you’re from NS, but at first I thought you were from Ireland!

April Brown: Thank you for this transitioning video. You made me howl with your justification for the curling iron. Thank you for the down to earth, real life struggles for us curly girls.

Manasi Singh: Thank you for doing this! I'm in my second week of transition, and have a medium porosity hair. First week was weird frizzes and weighed down. 2 days into the second week and my waves have lost defination and seem more flater. Does this mean that I dont have wavy hair left? Or does this mean that this is a part of transition?

Emma Fox: I just started my journey this past week. I'm 21 and haven't let my hair do its thing since I was in middle school. It's so nice to have suggestions from someone with my hair type!! Thank you!!

Jellybean: Thank you so much for this video! I've been straightening my hair daily for the past 10 years or so, and last week I decided it was finally time to start transitioning to natural hair. It's super daunting, and the frizz/smoothness is frustrating - especially at the top and back of my head, whereas my hair gets super curly near the ends. I'm definitely going to keep these tips in mind!

J11NXD: I will be starting the CGM on Thursday (Australia) with all the info out there it is actually super overwhelming! The simplicity of your videos is so helpful right now, thank you very much x

Sandy Welch: Thank you so much for this video Suzie! I thought I was the only one going through this but the issues with your hair you discussed are the same exact ones I am having! Thanks so much for all of the great tips! You're a doll! ❤

aoitennyo: One thing regarding (permanent) hair dye: even when you color your (virgin) hair DARKER, you’re still actually bleaching it a little bit (opening up the hair shaft and “lifting” the current color) before you dye it (depositing pigment into the hair shaft). You’re better off going semi- or even demi-permanent to maintain hair health :).

Khadija Kamal: Thank you Susie! Your transition video is very helpful. I just started CGM and I am at week 3. There is a chunk of hair on my right side that won’t curl at all and I will try your finger coiling method on them :)

googlespy Franchise: Love Curly Susie, always keeping it real <3 Do you think the 2 weeks to get back your curl pattern is because of the heat, or can curl pattern be upset by even just plaiting the hair, or doing a dry bush before a wash ? Are the bonds that fragile?

Rachel Emery: Your videos are so helpful! I’m transitioning again (was CG 5 years ago, then whacked it off short) and I have healthy hair even though I’ve been bleaching for a year or so, my ends stay straight because of the dryer and flat iron I used for so long. I am SO READY for my curls to come back!

KieraFinneke: My hair started curling when I was 21, I didn’t realize it was actually curly lol. I’m 22 now and my hair is so, so frizzy because I’ve been treating it like it was straight still. Body changes are weird but I’m so grateful for your channel!! I’m getting some sulfate-free shampoos and working on bringing out my curls again!

MandyR8: Finally someone who has the same type of curls/waves as mine! So glad I found this video! Thank you for sharing

Ashley Young: I love your curls. Also, you look 5-10 years younger with curls vs straight hair!

Lauren Graves: “I did it. I admit it!” The fifth tip was like a true confession!! I felt bad that you felt so bad! Hey, I appreciate your honesty. I’d much rather hear that than a recommendation for something that only halfway worked. Your hair is gorgeous! ✨

Ithfifi Williams / IthinityBeauty: Hi Sister Curlie Susie, Big respect for the videos you make. I straightened my hair from the age of 15-ish until I was 27-ish. I'm 31 now, Only just embracing my curly hair after years of torment over it. I'm loving it, I am plopping and it seems to work well but I do get greys, When I dye it black it doesn't last long (I'm naturally dark so black looks natural) but I don't want to keep dying over and over because I know the chemicals wont help my natural curl xx

Aisling Cooney: You've inspired me to get my natural curls back! I'm 2 weeks into getting rid of silicones and sulphate and I'm actually loving the results so far thank you for your videos ❤️❤️

LadyLuck: First day of curly girl method absolutely blew my mind, it was such a huge difference in my hair. I mean I knew my hair was wavy but I didn’t realize it was THAT WAVY like damn. First week & yeah that transition phase is a pain But I’m looking forward to the end result ♥️

beetlebum91: Been straightening my hair for 10 years but I am ready to put the flat iron down and embrace my naturally curly hair. Thank you so much for your videos!

Tracey: This was so helpful and encouraging! Some of those example pieces you curled are what my hair does now when I just let it air dry. I’m excited to see how it changes when I treat it well!

Delilah Sanchez: Thank you so much for this!!! I needed ideas to encourage me to keep pushing toward my natural hair! It was so gorgeous back in middle school and high school and I ruined it!!! Honestly my hair looks awesome straight I love it! But i miss my big wild curls and waves!

kathy gonzalez: I just started watching your videos about a week ago and I'm going for it! I'm trying the curly girl method thanks to YOU! My hair is in that super weird phase where it doesn't know what to do yet but I can already see improvement. I want to keep it going but I seem to be upsetting my scalp. Something is making my scalp go nuts. I've developed really bad dandruff and I have very large flakes coming off of my scalp. Did this ever happen to you? Maybe I'm allergic to something I'm using? Did this happen because I'm using paraben and sulfate free shampoos? Should I keep going? Heeeeelp :(

Alex Jones: Thank you for this video! I was for a while wearing my hair half up like you showed but the tangles at the end of the day in the hair that was down was so unmanageable (and felt damaging) so now I feel like I have to wear it up loosely everyday.

Sara Millhouse: Love this video! You are just so honest about what it’s really like to transition and we all have moments of weakness that we do things that aren’t recommended! My hair is so much curlier underneath, and I love it. But you can’t see it my canopy is 2b/2c on it’s best day and underneath is 3a. Look forward to watching more of your videos!

Serena Morris: thank you for admitting to using the curling iron! I am suffering through the most horrible transition phase anyone's ever seen. I'm only a week in and already have cried every day and thought about giving up and flat ironing my hair a zillion times! But I'm hanging in there. Luckily I don't have to leave the house most days. But today I'm just sick of it. I haven't gotten my trim yet, so I'm going to use my curling iron on a few unruly pieces and not feel bad!

Gina Codding: Love that I found your channel as recommended from a family member!! Thank you so much!!! The crazy thing to me is that I have never colored my hair, never really used many products and havent used heat almost at all in YEARS, yet still my hair looks terrible!! I can't wait to watch more of your videos.

elizabeth m: Thanks for these tips! I'm on my first few days of the CG method. I used to dry my hair and recurl it with an iron because I didn't know how to let it go naturally without being a frizzball. Don't feel guilty!

Shelly Robinson: This is super helpful! I followed the CG method for a few years, but somehow started using heat regularly for the last year. So, I am transitioning back to my naturally wavy/curly hair and this in-between stage is rough. I almost gave up several times. Love these tips!

Varsha Jaikumar: My hair is exactly like yours and I totally understand the pain of having those stubborn strands that just refuse to follow the pattern of their brothers and sisters, LOL! Thanks, I've learnt a lot from you. :) Btw, you do look good wearing your hair straight as well, but needless to say that curly hair is just so classic that nothing can replace it. Keep shining!

mi mi: I've been fighting my curls most of my life, from bleaching to straightening to cutting it all off, and I'm finally at the point of surrender. Did a big chop last week which was needed and am now following CGM. I'm starting with DevaCurl and Olaplex, plopping and I snagged the DevaFuser for my low heat ceramic blow-dry. So far this really sucks haha. I'm a frizzy, tangled, unruly mess. But I'm gonna stick with it because I know it'll be worth it.

Michelle Caraway: Day 2 of my curly girl journey is today- I curled 4 pieces of my hair with my curling wand. Like super quickly too, and had this same thought! It was great to watch this video about the transition phase! Thank you!

Joseph and Ashlyn McFatridge: I just figured out days ago that my hair is naturally curly - I just didn't know! It was straight when I was a toddler but changed, I guess, because a hairstylist showed me recently how to get my curls to show. So I've just started my curly hair journey, and I am such a mix of excited and nervous! Love seeing results like yours - so encouraging!!

Sassybanjo: I'm going through transition now and Mop Top Curly Custard is a game-changer! I also use my curling iron on a low setting. Don't feel bad about it at all. It beats a flat iron at 400 degrees.

Maebh Rabbitte: Hi! Thank you for this video! I am at the very beginning of the curly girl method and I haven't cut my hair for almost 2 years... I was thinking of getting a few more layers - because I'll go to a hairdresser soon. Can you explain a little more why you would not get a lot of layers during transition? Thank you so much!

Lynnéa McMahon: I’m just starting curly girl method and my hair is so short I swear nothing looks good when it’s natural. The top layer of hair on my head is pin straight and won’t even curl, although it used to. It’s going to be a rough transition stage for me! But hearing you experience a similar phase gives me hope.

Claudia Todi: This is my hair. Years of heat damage and top layer barely forms a wave right now but the rest is 2c/3A. I get so frustrated and just started this 2 weeks ago. I’ve been pinning my hair for work. This is a helpful and refreshing video. Love the part about “going for it” with the curling iron. On days where I really need to, I curl a couple pieces

Freyalovesbooks: I have a question. So I had really curly hair when I was younger but as I grew up it went straight. Now I have some curly baby hairs coming back. After research I believe the reason my hair went straight was because I wasn’t using right products and my hair was getting damaged. So I’ve started doing the curly girl method and after a shower my hair is pretty curly but for some reason as it dries it goes straight. Do you know why?

ruth Robinson: I’ve been doing the cgm for 8 weeks and I’m still looking like a tramp that’s been dragged through a hedge backwards!! It’s so difficult trying to figure out the products my hair likes! I’m sticking at it though and hoping I can end up with some kick ass curls like yours

Kelley Stoll: These are awesome tips! I've been following the CG method for a little over a year, but somedays I just get bored, so I use my curling iron. That was this weekend. These tips are going to help me transition back. I have heard people rave about finger coiling, but never got the hang of it. I'm going to try to pin them to see if I can get the hang of it.

loz6702: I love how down to earth you are about the transition! Great video :)

Girisha Naicker: Thank you! Love your videos. This is currently me... transitioning. Soo much help and hope watching your videos.

mignonib: I'm so excited I found your channel! My hair and I have had a complicated relationship my whole life, but not because I wanted it to be straight, I really wanted it to figure things out and be its curly/wavy self! I had a terrible experience a few years back trying the no-poo, baking soda/ACV method. I stuck it out for ten weeks while everyone online told me it would normalize and be amazing, but it never did, and I just couldn't deal with the disgusting heavy oily mess that my scalp and hair became. I'm not easily grossed out, but that experiment did it for me. I'm so worried trying low-poo or co-washing will turn out the same way, with my hair never adjusting and me just feeling grosser and grosser. I'm sure I just haven't figured out the right method for me, and I really want to steer away from products that strip my natural moisture and mimic real hair health, I just don't want to be a grease-ball for months. =( How long should I expect the adjustment to take?

Jamie Lynn: Thank you I’m transitioning and my hair is similar to yours and your REAL lol I appreciate that! Your hair is beautiful and girl don’t apologize for the curling iron Lots of tubers put bleach highlights and diffuse their hair on med or high heat ITS OK it’s healthy and beautiful

tracy schmidt: Thank you! This helped me so much! My hair is very naturally wavy but I have never worked with it. Mine looks like yours straightened. Seeing that your hair can transition gives me such hope to hang in there. I am just starting the journey!!

Deetzah: So glad to find you Susie! I love how real and down to earth you are and you are funny as heck! I really needed to hear that other people struggle and some solutions cuz I'm new and mah hair is curling from the root and not long like yours and well...its a bit of a mess! I think a lot of us need "permission" to do something with it. You know? So thank you thank you thank you girl! ❤️

Shannon Smith: I know I’m commenting on a year old video but I just want to say that I had a friend in high school who had naturally beautiful loose curly hair and sometimes I would see her curl certain pieces with a curling iron if it wasn’t cooperating. So don’t feel bad if you have to use a curling iron. Overall your hair is super healthy.

Cindy Layton: I love this video. I have the exact same problem with my bangs, two waves at the root then bone staight. Thank you for the tips.

nova: Thank you so much for getting right to the point! Your video is so informative, so on point, thank you!

Jan Holdridge: This is just what I needed! I'm two weeks into the Curly Girl Method and I too have pieces of hair that either won't curl or curl in a "strange" way. I've been tucking those pieces away with bobby pins, just so I don't have to keep looking at them. I plan to get my hair trimmed soon by a local curl specialist, because after a fall, winter and cold spring, all of the heat styling I was doing has really damaged by hair. Thank you Susie for being here for gals like me.

Jennifer Pennington: Just started my curly hair journey in mid October. You have been very helpful

Cindy: The "coiling" curls around your finger and pinning them with a bobby pin used to be called "pin curls" back in the early 1900s. They used bobby pins to form lovely "finger waves" around the face back in the 1920s, and did their whole heads in pin curls to simulate a perm. Your hair is really beautiful.

Latin For Poem: Very helpful video! Right smack in the middle of the dreaded transition phase after DECADES of keratin treatments, straightening iron, curling iron, coloring, bleaching, tape in hair extensions, you name it, just plain abusing...     Re tip #5:  Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!  I was feeling sooo guilty, however I have no choice but to go out in public!! :P

Magdeline Chin: i really love your simplified curly hair method. Your honesty and down-to-earth explanation on how to handle your hair is refreshing. you did not make the curly girl journey a chore. Thanks for sharing.

TourmalineQueen: I’ve always suffered with psoriasis since I was a teenager and since going cg it’s got ten times worse. If I just wash with conditioner it’s so unbearably itchy. I don’t know what else to do tbh but I love having my naturally curly hair

Susan Cairns: So great!!! The CG method can be so strict. I loved tips for making it wearable during transition

Rhianna Erin: I’m quite happy,I recently about 2-3 weeks ago had a hair cut I think I got about 6 ish inches off, which wasn’t damaged that much but it definitely helps because it was a little damaged and now it can grow back healthier❤️!

Emma Virginia: Thank you for the video, i just found your Channel and after binge watching you i think you just made the journey look a lot more normal and possible... I really hope my hair is on the transition cause its a curly wavy mess and i wish for it to get better

Kirstan Survillas: Thank you so much for your videos. My hair is similar to your type. I just began my CG journey. Everyday is a new day (thank goodness) and I can try new things and document my results. I have been watching and rewatching your information so I don’t get frustrated I really can’t wait to get closer to where your hair is (or what my hair will be!! I do have a question-I have been going gray since HS. I do a base color with some highlights. From what I understand I can still do my roots (in denial - not ready to be gray) And do the highlights only when needed instead of every 6 weeks. Is that a recommendation you would give?? Thank you again for your candor and encouragement!!!

Foodie_Dassine: Hi Susie. I'm starting CGM. The first week I couldn't stand the look of my hair but this week I'm going to do a good deep conditionning and start. Instead of using the curling iron to save some pieces I was thinking about using foam curlers. Is it okay? I won't use heat and let my hair dry for a day or night. I used to do it in high school but I feel like most Curly Girls let the curl form naturally. Can we still use these rollers to help the hair curl in the beginning?

Krystal Tazouti: I thought maybe I was doing something wrong since starting but this gives me hope that in a few weeks my waves will be amazing

AliceTallGirl: And I just told myself, "You're doing a really good job... You're not washing your hair with sulfate... You're not using heat on all of your hair... If you have to curl a couple pieces girl GO FOR IT!" Haha thanks for the pep talk!

Wrapped in sunflowers: Your videos are inspiring me so much!!! My hair looks esactly the way yours does when wet except it hasn’t been curling well lately and your videos and tips are so inspiring thank you!!!

Vaishali: This is exactly my hair.. and I’m in the transition phase. Thanks for this video

Raquel Pujadas Domínguez: For me it's the other way around, since my hair is naturally light brown and I dye it black. I follow the CGM for the most part (still I dye my hair but I don't use heat silicones or sulfates ) so in case I decide to go back to 100% natural hair I have no choice but to grow it out like I did before that or going through the hair colour remover thing, which smells like rotten eggs

Star 123: I loved hearing your baby joining in on the video. His little sounds are precious ❤️❤️

SykeACT: Hey Susie, my hair is very similar to yours. I have to wear it up fully and very professionally for work in a bun or a braid. Do you have any tips as to how I should do that with minimal damage to my curls?

America: Hi , thank you so much for sharing your experiences with us. I am going thru my first week and I didn't understand why my front part of my hair wasn't getting curly (it is burned). Thanks again

KEVITA master-brew kombucha 505: Only straightened my hair 5 times in my life, never dyed or bleached it, but I dry brushed it till straight for 6 years! My hair is a weird wave/straight in the middle. Super curly (3b) ends in the front, and 2c waves in the bottom back. I also have wavy, curly, and straight roots! My hair has also begun thinning out ever since roughly 6-8 months ago! I’m so confused. (Currently 2 months into my transition) :’)

heartquaked: Thanks for all your videos, Susie. I’m on day 4

Varsha Rajan: Hi Susie ! I was watching many video's from different curly girl youtubers..and i watched a couple of your video's and you sounded very real n i started following your curly girl advices n suggestions! It's my second week (ugh., transition period sucks!!) My hairs in front wouldn't get curled , they just want to stay straight af ! (Well i had chemically straightend my hair 2 years back, n i have chopped off my straight hair n its a mess)Im using shea moisture shampoo n curling cream (nothing else!)Do you still use just these both or is there any other products you use or suggest ? (I know it's a looong comment! Thanks for reading it fully love ya)

Veronica Thomas: Your hair is gorgeous. I am starting this week. I got a trim over the weekend. I decided to start with the Deva Curl products first because I felt so overwhelmed by the system and not knowing what's safe and what's not. I have thickish, frizzy waves. My hair gets really really big like it grows out before down. I've always hated my hair so I started flat ironing mine about a year or more ago. I color my hair every 5 weeks....and sadly I will not stop that my hair is completely silver I'm not ready for that yet. anyway thank you for these videos. I am going to give this a few months and see if I can have beautiful waves like so many of you have.

Pat Martin: My hair is not curly, it's like wavy and super frizzy but I have tight curls hiding under the rest of my hair. I have heard that I might have some type of curls/waves but not taking care of it properly has kind of taken them out. I have short hair bleach blonde, super damaged and I have been straightening it since middle school so it looks terrible without heat but I'm trying to stick to the curly girl method to grow out my hair and hopefully finding my hair type

Tisha Terry: Love your tips and honesty on #5. Sometimes the wavy swavy hair needs alittle help.

Cindy Carey: I am so glad I happened on your video. i have been fighting my curls most of my life. Mainly because of the way they tend to frizz. I am older and finally ready to embrace what God gave me. I'll let you know how it goes.

Alysa: So happy I found your channel! I'm going to start the curly girl method after years of straightening my hair. I'm from Nova scotia as well!

Ivory & Gold: After getting my hair completely dye free and healthy I started using heat with a blow drying brush once a week which wasn't terrible, then last month I was in a hurry going on a trip and used my flat iron on high (455 degrees!) I'm surprised I didn't cause major damage but my hair did feel very dry. I literally told my bf he was gonna have to deal with me not washing my hair for about two weeks to allow it to recover. My flat iron and blow dry brush have been retired since. I did dye my hair recently but with a "conditioning” deposit only semi permanent dye.

Maraam Ahsan: your hair is just like mine! so glad i found you!! <3 also ive just started the curly girl method so thank you so much for making this video! xoxoxoxo

Suzanne Kazmiruk: Love your honesty and attitude Susie!

jeanaleereace: hi, i’m getting ready to get started on the curly method! i’m wondering what you do with your hair for when you sleep? my hair tends to get super tangled and messy when i sleep so i’m wondering what to do so i won’t need to brush it

Odé Lalou: Thank you for your videos :) How long is the transition phase?

Denise Pineda: Many thanks for the tips. I’m very new to this and really needed this video!!!

Tasnim Ezzddin: I haven’t straightened my hair for more than two weeks now (except for once a week ago) and it still looks like it’s going through the transition phase especially the top pieces at the crown of my head. It’s like that weird half wavy half straight and dried out (even though I cut my hair short a few days ago) and always falls in my face. Any tips on how I can deal with that? I thought about going for the deva products but I wasn’t sure if they’re actually worth their price.

lilmsegura00: Literal LOL when you admitted to curling your hair! That's when I decided to subscribe! You are so down to earth and COMPLETELY relatable!

fern Fern: As someone from the UK you sound SO Irish wow it’s so interesting hearing British/Irish elements come out in accents across the pond :) I’m starting the journey back to curly but 70% is bleached, now with lowlights. It’s gonnabe a hard time!

Erin Elle Mott • 36y ago: I just learned you can permanently stretch out your hair, which is what I did after years of wearing my hair in a high Ariana grande ponytail. I thought I was taking care of my curls by wearing a “protective style” everyday but now I’ve come to find, my top layers won’t curl because I was pulling it back almost everyday. I’m so discouraged

Ansley Mac: Her “bad” post straight hair is better than my everyday never straightened hair

Glownicky: I LOVE HOW REAL YOU ARE

D. A.: OMG I totally needed a video like this one! I started three weeks ago and it's going...weird. The worst part is having to choose one look, curly or straight. I like to change looks but I guess it's not a good start. Btw, I love your accent, I'm Spanish and I find very easy to understand you, very clear and soft. Thanks again!!

Mayra A: Your personality is great and you delivery the info in a succinct/digestible way. I really appreciate your videos :)

Elizabeth Romero: Thank you so much! I’m almost to my one year mark and the underneath part of my hair doesn’t curl as much as the top some days. I will begin finger curling.

eagates287: Omg thank you! My hair is very similar to yours: it doesn't curl on top much so I'm always pinning that back. This gives me hope that in time maybe those sections will learn to curl again

MimiChu: It's okay to dye and damage your hair guys, please remember that ^u^ It's also cool to keep it 100% natural too :3
