Today, I'm going to discuss five reasons why your hair may be stuck at the same length, even though you've been natural for years and how you can get your hair to Growing again, okay, so, let's get into it all right! You guys! This is week 12 of our protective style challenge. Now I know y'all are probably looking at me like um should be having your hair out. So if you guys don't know, I decided on our Sunday live, so I'm gon na extend the challenge out for maybe a week or two more because I have my protective style still in and I'm not ready to take it out, and this week was supposed to Be a detox week if you're still sticking with the schedule, I will link up a video here of an easy clay, detox recipe that you can use. I also be making our self care tea for the week and then I'll share these five reasons. Why hair is stuck at the same length, so we will be adding three bags of our echinacea, plus tea blend, going in with two cups of boiling distilled water. After about five minutes, I'm gon na go in with my name and I'm gon na add in one heaping tablespoon go ahead and give that a nice stir to combine, and I let it sit dress for three hours and I made sure to agitate the water every Hour or two to make sure that the herbs were fully combined, then I section a portion of this off to re-moisturize and hydrate my hair and scalp during the week. So if you're curious about my wash day process and locks check out last week's video this week, I'm actually just going to be using the hair tea. While I give you these five reasons, so let's get into it okay, so the first reason is that you do not have a consistent, routine or regimen. So maybe you're someone who doesn't know when you should be moisturizing your hair or something makes you really good at it and other weeks, you're just really really bad at it or you don't know when your hair needs protein or you wait too long in between moisturizing. Your hair and your hair remains very dry, so the best thing I can do is recommend getting yourself on a strict schedule. Now I have a video up here where it teaches you how to build an ayurvedic regimen, but I would say a perfect way to start. Is to find yourself a good cleanser, a great, deep conditioner, something to moisturize and hydrate your hair with and then seal and lock in that moisture. Now you want to do your moisturizer process at least two to three times a week until you find your moisture routine and I recommend having a good cleansing schedule either once a week or once every two weeks. But it's important to make sure your scalp gets clean and you stick to your regimen so that your hair can flourish. And that goes into the second reason why your hair is not growing, and that is because you guys are not taking care of your scalp and that can range in we're, not cleansing our hair enough or it could be that you have self-issue issues such as. Maybe maybe dermatitis inflammation or severe dandruff that is actually preventing you from growing your hair, long and strong. So some of the things I recommend, of course, is having consistent regimen with cleansing your scalp once a week or once every two weeks, but also making sure that you're using something to help with your scalp issues. This week we made our scalp care tea. This has properties of anti-fungal antibacteria antimicrobial, which is really great for those who are having issues with dermatitis and dandruff, and even for those who are fighting or dealing with certain forms, alopecia, which is hair loss, so using herbal treatments, a wonderful way to heal the scalp And then encourage that hair growth, and the third reason I would say, is probably the biggest reason why your hair is stuck at the same length is because it's breaking off just as quick as it's growing now. This is a really common issue for a lot of people, especially if we're not trimming our hair properly or at all. I can't stress enough the importance of having a good trim schedule and making sure you're trimming off enough hair, whether it's a quarter of inch or a half inch. But if you have damage, if you have single strand knots, if you have split ends, you want to make sure you're cutting above the split so that you don't cause further damage later on and now, if you're uncomfortable with trimming your hair yourself, I highly recommend finding A great stylist, I will say it can be very scary, sometimes to find a good stylist, but definitely try to find one. If you don't know how to trim your hair y'all know, I try to stick to a really good schedule of every three months and I trim my hair generally in twists. Now, if you're looking for a more even approach, you can definitely blow out your hair, but for me y'all y'all know I wear my hair pretty much exclusively in its natural state. So twists are a perfect way for me to to trim my hair. I just make sure I do my twists small enough and for each section I used to take a half an inch off my hair about every three months. So another reason why your hair made me suck at the same length is because you're over manipulating your hair. Maybe you're changing up your hairstyles too frequently, maybe you're a bit rough when you're detangling your hair, you're constantly putting it up or down or maybe you're wearing it out, and it's brushing up against your clothes, causing a lot of friction again and then more breakage. All of those practices can prevent your hair from retaining length over time, and so, of course, the solution to that would be to put your hair and protect us out, which is why we are in this protective style challenge right now, because it helps you to retain Length for longer the longer you can leave your hair alone, the better and not even go for some people during washes, especially if you have fine hair fine strands constantly, manipulating them leads to more breakage and can leave you at the same length for year after year. Alright, and the fifth way is that you're letting your hair completely dry out, you don't know how to moisturize your hair. You don't know what to moisturize your hair with and for that I'm going to recommend you get a calendar and you write on the calendar which days or you put that Alert on your phone, which days that you're going to be moisturizing your hair. If you don't have a good leave-in, obviously I sell a leave-in, but you can also try some such things as some of the Heritage. We have adding glycerin to this using aloe vera and maybe glycerin or honey as a humectant, to draw moisture in you finding yourself a great moisturizer so doing some form of lock method, lco or loc, liquid oil, cream or liquid cream oil. If you prefer the gel, you can definitely seal your hair with a gel but making sure that your hair doesn't get all the way dry before you re-moisturize it and again that could be some something as simple as moisturizing your hair twice a week or maybe three Times a week, especially if your hair is suffering and to go along with that, if your hair is constantly dry, I also want to recommend that you try a protein treatment. I know that makes the encounter to what you're trying to do, but but hear me out for a second. Our hair is protein and we lose protein. Every time we manipulate later Hair. We wash your hair, we cleanse our hair, and so what happens is we have our cuticles get lifted and they get little cracks and chips in it, and so it causes us to lose moisture very quickly when your hair has the proper amount of protein in it. It actually helps your cuticles to line more flat and actually helps you to retain moisture, because it helps you to lock in that moisture. So if you haven't done a protein treatment in a very long time - and maybe let's say you're scared to do something as strong as aphogee, I highly recommend trying a strengthening hair mask. Of course, you guys know I do sell one, but you don't have to use mine just make sure you're using some form of protein. Frequently in your regimen and you'll you'll be surprised at how much your hair will retain moisture for longer so that your hair doesn't necessarily dry out. You don't have to apply so many products to your hair so frequently, because your cuticles are lying flat. Locking in that moisture, okay, you guys, so if you have any other additional tips for those who may be struggling, are stuck at the same length for year after year. Here please share in the comment section down below, but that's it for this week. I will see you guys next week as we do week, 13 of our protective style challenge, but that's it for this week. I'Ll see you next time, bye!

Tiffany: I am leaving my braids in also! Cant wait to do my length check!

Moira Edwin-Jones: Here’s my own tip: 1) moisturizing your hair and doing protein treatment at the same time is the best! Example, I’ll spray rice water in my hair during my wash day then go ahead and deep condition with a moisturizing conditioner before I rinse everything out. Try it and see 2) there’s no particular strict schedule on you trimming your hair. Just let your hair decide that. I trim mine once a year. That’s what my hair permits. 3) the ingredients in your kitchen are probably going to be your hair game changer. Cinnamon, cloves even black pepper grows your hair like mad! 4) know which protective styles your hair love. Sometimes it might be a protective style your hair hates so much! 5) make sure you keep your hair in something that will protect it from the environment. Something that will provide your hair with just mild heat. 5) scalp massages are so good 6) no matter what you do, never compare your hair to another. Believe it or not, it will hear you and you are going to regret it. 7) try undoing your hair when it’s damp. You’ll lose little or no hair at all. There is so much more but I’ll stop here❤️

Roselind Thomas: I found that doing a protein (small one) treatment every week on my high porosity hair…. Has kept her (hair) moisturized longer than 1 day and she’s more stronger and not weak.

God’s Precious: Thank you! What other powders can be added to that tea? Does it also work with black teas?

Kay: @NowIamNappy is rosemary tea a good way to hydrate your hair?

Naturally_Nica: knight's wiggling just scared the crap out of me!!! Girl I thought you fell.
