What'S good, everybody welcome back to the channel unless you are new here. In that case i am your main girl, mel and i'm so excited to introduce you. Finally, to my main man, this is introduce yourself, i'm lucas, i'm uh, melissa's main man. So lucas is a little nervous in front of the camera, i'm a little nervous being in front of the camera with him as well. We'Ve never made a video together, but we are here to finally share with you guys his routine. This is an all-new routine that he has been growing with and when i say growing i mean really his hairs have come a long way. Lucas will share a little bit more about that his time before mel what his hair was looking like, and we will provide photos because his journey has been quite miraculous and his hair has been popping off today. He needs a little bit of a reshape and we're going to share with you guys how he styles his hair, using some techniques that i don't know. I don't know where you learned your techniques, but he's gone really good at taking care of his hair and his routine is really simple. It'S really simple. We cannot wait to share with you guys, i'm so excited to have you on here, even though i don't know how to act. This is weird, i'm sorry and without further ado. This is the debut of the boo. So, let's get to it so first things. First, before we go ahead and start styling, the haircut, because i'm working off of what you've got, we're not trying to shorten the hair drastically we're trying to shape up the hair and now that it's gotten this long, it's actually starting to curl in all of the Areas which is also giving him a lot of volume, but we do want to shape it. So it's not so rounded here and more flush. That'S exactly the plan here and as i'm doing that lucas tell me about the day that you first met me. Why don't you tell us about um? Maybe what your relationship with your hair was like before me time before mel the end, so i had. I had curly hair when i was really young and because i never understood the concept of why hair was curly and that i had it. I just continued to just cut it short and in addition to cutting it short, i would brush it. I would treat it the wrong way. I would treat it as if it was straight hair and that just never worked out. It was just uh, disappointing, hair day after disappointing hair day for my entire life. Before i met mal, i thought there were just two kinds of hair messy, hair and neat hair, and i thought i had messy hair and we could just say that i'm pretty sure mel liked my personality, a lot more, hey, hey, hey, hey! I saw the potential. I saw it was there, and i knew i could work with this. Mel just gave me a couple of tips, and you know now, i'm all about my hair, where i never was before the last three years have just been me obsessing over how much i love my hair. I never thought would happen which for me is so refreshing to see, because i feel like a lot of guys are very simple with their hair and they kind of just leave it up to the hands of their barber or hair stylist. And it really only looks good when it's freshly done and a lot of guys don't have enough guidance showing them how to take care of their hair, not everybody, but a lot of guys, and that was you. It not only showed in your. You know the way that you wore your hair, but even the health of your hair. My hair thickness is kind of returned. It feels healthier. It feels softer. It'S stronger, stronger, looking popping what is your wash day routine. Look like how long are you spending on your hair? This is a big thing. You know not that long on a wash day, i'd say i spend just under 30 minutes on it and that really lasts me like anywhere from two to three and sometimes, if i'm on a trip or something even four days. That includes your washing. That'S barely that's exactly that's max yeah and dry yeah. So i mean, if you wanted to break that out. It'S like 10 minutes a day, pretty doable. But what are some of the things you've been noticing, as your hair has gotten so long, because this is the longest your hair has ever been, and i'm really not cutting off a lot by the way. I'M cutting off like half an inch off of the sides. Mostly just focusing on the shape and making sure that this top part is not like not looking like a mushroom yeah. So what do you find? Are your challenges as it is growing so long? Well, first challenge is there's more hair to style right, so that does take some more time yeah. It does take some more time. One thing one thing that was introduced into my routine: well, it's kind of like something i'm not doing is uh, i'm not showering. I'M not washing my hair every day, which is something that i did for my entire life and uh. You know i was getting that high, that high growth fatigue. That'S getting all that stuff everything that mel says on her videos. I had all of that, and i didn't understand that washing my hair and shampooing it every day like was going to lead to having you know, hair that was pretty much the equivalent of like a straw. Broom like it was awful yeah for anyone. That'S new and you haven't watched any of my previous videos. Water is not always your best friend and washing your hair. Every day, it's usually not necessary at all. You always want to listen to your scalp if your scalp is feeling itchy. If it's really oily or it's flaky or you know, your scalp needs some love and care, then obviously, that's when you want to be washing and shampooing your hair, but even going down to wetting your hair every day you had first started you weren't shampooing every day, But you were still in the habit of wetting your hair. Every time you got in the shower, which you now have stopped, and i don't know if you want to share what your your trick is to help not get your hair wet. Let'S talk about the bonnet. It'S all about the bonnet. I got you your bonnet last year for christmas, so anyone also new imagine a bonna is a silk cap that you would really wear to sleep, but she does wear to sleep every night, which is why his hair looks so good. Even on day two and he pops it on when he's in the shower and what that's gon na help with is it's gon na help allow some of the steam from your shower to absorb into your hair, but it still blocks out any heavy drops and moisture That is going to cause frizz, and that also doesn't need to be touching your hair. You know what it's looking pretty good sides have been taken in ever so slightly. They are going to spring up a little bit now that i've taken some of the weight off, but i didn't want to cut so short to get rid of the curls. We showed you guys some of the pictures of lucas's hair while he was growing it out before his sides got this long, you'll notice. They were not actually curling, but he kind of went through a bit of an awkward phase where they were just flicking up. Yeah flicking up flicking out that's what we were avoiding today. We didn't want to go too short and the way to determine if your hair is long enough to actually curl. If you feel like right now, it's just a wave. You have to look at how big the circle is, so he has about three a size curls, three, a three b. The diameter of this curl is about an inch a centimeter, an inch. His hair needs to be at least two inches long to come. Full circle uh. As far as my products go, i made him bring them over, so he's got them all in a bag here. So we start off with the aveda shampoo and when we first met, we were concerned for his scalp and his hair and his hair loss, which we have now halted his hair. It'S not just halted, it's regenerating uh and then, after that's thoroughly done. I move on to the conditioner stage after i rinse off the conditioner. I come out of the shower and i go right to the aveda green stuff, okay, the green stuff. So he calls it all the time. Curl enhancer, that's the curl enhancer um. Actually, when we met, i was still in hair school and then i was working in an invader salon, so i was really familiar with the veda products and using all myself as well. So at that point it was like whatever i was using on myself. I was also giving to him to use then there's the liquid gel, which, especially now since my hair is really long. I really like to put this on the sides and back of my hair to lock in the curls so lucas now that it's pretty much all cut and it's time to style we're going to go ahead and do that we're going to show you guys all the Techniques that he's been using and before that we're going to go ahead and get it wet, be right back we're back and he is now emasculated now look a microfiber towel does not discriminate freshly washed we're gon na go in right away with our styling products. It is still really wet, but it's not dripping. So it's got a lot of dampness in there lucas pass me the green stuff i'm going to be taking over here. I'M going to share with you guys his styling techniques, because i taught him them and i want to explain to you guys what we're doing very simply. We take some green stuff into our hands and you have to keep in mind that the more hair you have the more product you're going to have to use, don't skimp out. You got to make sure that you get everywhere evenly and we're going to make sure that we distribute this product evenly as well. Remember, styling products are for your hairs, not your scalp shampoo is for your scalp, but now we're nourishing the hair and that's what you want to focus on: grab the hair and rake it through. It uses the be curly curl enhancer, because it's kind of like an all-in-one. It keeps it really simple for him, so he doesn't have to put in a bunch of different styling products. You know that this will keep it moisturized, give it shine, keep the frizz down, define the curls and keeps it really simple for him and to help with working it through and defining his curls we're going to be using a denman brush, but a very special denim Brush get your little cutesy one out, it's a denim brush, only smaller mini brush on myself, because my hair is longer. I like to use a normal size, d3 brush. But this is the d14, which is five rows and it's a little miniature and it is great for shorter lengths of hair, so we're going to start first on the sides and i'm going to brush the top kind of away. You do want to do this in sections focus on the sides. First, then, the top separately, because one they're two different lengths. You can't do them all together, they're in completely different areas of the head now, depending on what kind of look you're going for you can either smooth the hair back a lot of guys like a slicked back look. You will succeed more if your hair is shorter. For this look, but we actually like volume so, instead of brushing back and against the scalp we take, the brush out off of the scalp out in the boot lucas makes fun of my canadian accent all the time. Even though you're not perfect either you have a weird canadian accent too. I do want to make sure that the hair is wet enough, so you can see the curls naturally forming. So this is helping to clump the families of hair and, what's cool about using a brush, is you can really control what you want the curls to look like, for example, we're going to be getting a lot of volume on the sides here, but if he doesn't Want it to be really poofy in the back right in the nape here is where we would kind of brush it down a little bit. So this is the side with a brush and on this side i'll show you what it looks like with just your hands. What you don't want to do is just brush it through, like this you've got to rake and squeeze when you squeeze. It helps to clump the families together. This is what we're trying to do, what you want to do to prevent frizz, so that the hair continues to look good, as the days go on is make sure that they clump together. This is how you scrunch hair. That is long. This is how you scrunch hair - that is short, we're just scrunching the sides. This is helping the curls to curl. Now we're going to curl the top of his head and with the top of the hair, i do like to use a denman brush and especially because lucas likes a lot of volume on the top he likes the fullness. We are going to be brushing up up off of the scalp now you'll notice, i'm taking sections i'm not taking all the hair at once. Once you've brushed your section of hair, leave it off to the side. You know you don't want to be consistently brushing through it. You got to stay organized, otherwise it's going to cause frizz because we're not really going for like a heavy bang. Look you want the hair to kind of go up off of your face. I am brushing up and back beautiful now we can get rid of this, so as lucas said, because his hair has gotten so long now, it's hard for him to get away with just one product. This is the main product he puts in, but we are gon na add a little bit of gel on top, which won't make his hair crunchy he'll still be able to play with it. Just like how you saw at the beginning of this video, but it will help to keep the curls intact right right. I am not canadian, i am a human being. There are two gels i would use in his hair. One is the confixer. This is, as you mentioned, this is the liquid gel that he usually uses it's more of a medium hole. It has a very musky smell. That'S one of the reasons why i like using the aveda products for him, even the curl cream. Nothing too flowery nothing too. Fruity or too feminine smelling, it keeps it really nice and neutral for him, but it's medium hold for a strong mold. This is the flaxseed aloe gel it's another option, especially if you have more wavy hair that needs a little bit more hold, or even just hair. That has a mind of its own. This one doesn't have much of a smell. It'S less musky than this one yeah they're, both super super liquidy, which i love, love love in a gel, especially for a styling gel like we're using on short hair. It makes it super easy to work into the hair, i'm going to use the stronghold one today. Also because we are in summer - and this is glycerin free - this is how much gel we're going to use just a little dollop super liquidy, it's about a quarter size in my hand, right now now you're supposed to lick it. You already did. You were already going to lick it, but i was going to tell you something taking that gel and scrunching it if i were to prematurely go outside while it was still kind of wet. This helps me kind of like lock it in now. Do you often go outside while it is wet? No, no! I'M a good boy, you're, a good boy! I try to. I try to make sure it's dry enough to be resilient to the elements before i put it in harm's way, because otherwise, i'm just kind of you know steamrolling over any work. I'Ve done you guys should probably know that right around this camera, there is a ring light and it is literally brighter than the midday sun. It'S burning my redness right now and how amanda, how amanda and mel look at this thing for hours on end. I have no idea: do you have any goggles? Do you have any sunglasses in all here? That'S so much better, and while you give your eyes a bit of a break, i'm going to break my arms with the diffuser should be about 10 minutes um. Let'S actually time this, shall we guys it doesn't take long, it doesn't take long, but it's worth every second 10 minutes of kind of just lifting. Think of it. As lifting you, like the workout you're lifting the blow dryer around your head. Now what you absolutely cannot do is touch your hair. You need to refrain from putting your hand this thing. What do we call that just the tousle, you really don't want to do that ever, but especially not while it is drying, because otherwise you ruin all the hard work that you put into it, and if you don't touch it, you just simply hover diffuse around your Hair you get a result like this 9 minutes and 46 seconds, who said 10 minutes. I said 10 minutes and you can see how defined it is. You can see. He'S got lots of volume on top because of the way that we use the brush and now we're actually going to fluff this out, break that little bit of a crunchy cast and give him some more volume, but actually lucas. I'M going to put this one in your hands. I want you to show them exactly how you do it my hands off. Okay, you need a pick yeah. Okay, so you got this, which is apparently called the spriggle, and then we got this one, which is called the regular pick. I guess okay, thank you, so i like this one i feel, like the other one, interferes too much with the curls. This one just gets right in and under them, that's mostly because of your kind of curl as well. You'Ve got a bigger curl. Remember it's 3a 3b size. So this is really nice. It'S kind of like mimicking your fingers to get in there and pick. I don't want to move this thing too much because it's going to break apart all the locks that we got going on, so i'm just infiltrating underneath and i'm lifting and as it comes back down, the curls are resting on each other and building some more volume. It'S a simple step, but it's very gratifying. This helps get that natural look in the hair. It was almost too defined too perfect because it was so fresh and now this is where you give it its little bit of character. I grab it. I sort of scrunch it i bring it to one side. You know i make sure that it's kind of going the way i want see how he touches his hair and see how to work with short hair. You can't be aggressive and break it apart and put your fingers through it and rake through it. It'S like treating it all as a whole, so it's like more grabbing and it works yeah speaking of works. I think you really worked it. Can you just before we go, show us how you work out and also how you sleep with your hair? Oh of course, so this guy works pretty well for me. You know, i put them on my wrist and i bring them anywhere anyway. So i go ahead and i i put this thing in here not too tight and i just get it all up and away from my face and then i'm ready to do whatever i'm ready to exercise or sweat without fear of the sweat beads and the moisture On my face, breaking apart, the the curls that we've worked pretty hard to establish, then there's this: this is the sexy bed, the zazzy band, it's snazzy, it's zazzy, you put it on. You look classy! Just like this thing. This keeps the moisture on my face for messing up my hair if i'm going outside, if it's a hot day, if i'm exercising, if you're, washing your face wash my face, my skin routine, his skin routine, every night that i put him onto his skin looks great And uh it works because it really sort of blends in it doesn't look too freaky like. I even prefer this over this, because this, i don't know it makes me look like i was in like a lab and there was an explosion or something this is uh. This is my favorite one. This is for when i go to sleep, this is the bonnet. Everyone knows the bonnet, it's also for the shower. It allows me to go a bunch of days without styling, my hair, because it's like a little protective force field from both the shower and the bed, and i tend to roll over quite a bit when i sleep. So this thing comes in very handy for me. I think your hair looks amazing. I love it and i hope you guys liked today's video. We didn't have much of a plan coming out here. Besides wanting to share a little bit of his journey to, hopefully inspire any of you that are struggling with your hair, if it is anywhere near this length or if you're trying to grow it out and you're, not sure what it can do, there's a lot of Potential in there, if you see frizz, if you see flicks, you see waves and you think that your hair is uh as lucas put it. When i first met him, frizzy shitty hair, then don't think that there is lots of hope, lots of potential and if you guys want more tutorials like this one, if you guys want us to show you guys more styling techniques, because this was just one of them, Then make sure that you give this video a thumbs up comment below what else you guys would want to see, and let's thank lucas for coming on board today. You did a great job. You did a great job. It was terrifying, better hit that subscribe button, hey if you haven't hit that subscribe button hit that subscribe button right now until next time. Oh we're gon na halt it. I have a vile being and you still love me: it's not not us carry on i'm just gon na pause and delete this one. Oh no. I want to go on this side because every time i'm filming with amanda she has to have this side. But now i feel weird, i don't know how to act on this side. So i can't talk. I'M a simple lucas right right wrong wrong. No right! I'M wrong! Why i don't know what do you think i think you're doing great yeah, no [ __ ]! Stop you need new york. Are you ready for your big debut they booty? Okay, but one more blue steel, you didn't do anything about it. I couldn't it was too fast uh if anyone's wondering my dyson fell, but she's still alive. You know what hold on no one's talking to you. Siri. Let me just grab my weapons. I'Ll get you sunglasses. If you blue steel, three, two one, this frizzy one is white is frizzy. When is it raw? DARIEN Ford: Mel's mastermind plan is to make sure the whole world has curls by the end of 2020

sugarcoat: We NEED more hair sylists like Mel. Its so hard finding someone that knows how to work with curly hair...

Melina Mora: Now all we need is a 2b-3c routine for us in between girls! I love how you’re including different hair types and textures on your channel s/o to Mel for teaching us

linda voedisch: This is how I imagine they met: Mell just saw him in the street, went up to him and told him he was doing his hair all wrong and he just immediately fell in love with her at that moment

FluffyYumYums: OMG YESS FINALLY. WOOO. I got my bf the little denman brush and he’s finally trying to use it and the curls are coming out fantastic. He’s been on the hair journey with me for about a year now and his curls super curly and are curlier than mine! Thanks Mel!!

Laura: Can we talk about his patience? I’m cringing at how many do overs they had cause I’m an awkward person but he was so game!! He is so support and it’s adorable!!

Brandon Roberts: OMG as a guy who’s on a curly hair journey, thank you for this video! I was wondering why scrunching was just giving me frizz and now I see why! Although I’m a 3c curl I still learned so much in this video! Please do more videos for curly hair men, we need help too!...now excuse me while I buy a spriggle and that zazzy band ...and what was that other hair band called?

Rebecca Rogers: My desire to have a boyfriend with curly hair just increased so much more His dedication to his hair is so awesome to see cause you’re right I feel like a majority of guys just don’t really care enough to take care of their hair and keep it healthy and nurtured! Kudos to Lucas for giving his hair the love and care it deserves! ❤️

Grace Bellamy: Omg bless you for making this video ! I’ve been trying to get my boyfriend to watch your videos and learn how to maintain his curls but he would always say “no way that’s for chicks” ... now he has no excuse

Bonnie Emile: I love how confident he is. He is owning that beautiful curly hair. You go, Mell! He’s a keeper.

Claudia Duarte: My brother used to have his hair as curly as your boyfriend’s, but after several years he kept cutting it shorter and shorter to the point that you couldn’t even tell if he had it curly or straight. I’ll share this video with him. I am sure he’ll want to grow his curls again. Thank you for sharing this Mell

megancooksey: Great video! My 7 year old son has looser curls like his while mine are closer to Mels. This is a perfect alternative to keeping his hair sooo short. Idk how the bonnet is going to go over but we’ll find out

Lady Sara: You two are adorable. We’re still quarantined in San Jose, California, so my husband got a wife cut. I didn’t do too badly. LOL! Fortunately for cutting my hair, I followed your tutorial with Amanda. It came out great!

moviesmag1971: Hey, Mel! Great model and it seem a wonderful bf! Not many guys would speak highly of, let alone wear a bonnet on Y/T. Shows he’s confident in his manhood & values awesome hair. And you, best of all!

shka24: Hey Mell! Could you do an all intensive product video? Like your winter line-up, your spring and summer line up, your substitutes for each product when you need protein, substitutes when you need moisture, etc? I know you’ve done a lot of similar videos but you seem to use different products in each one, and it seems like some routines have protein and some have zero protein. Just starting to embrace my wavy hair and need some serious product and diffusing boot camp!

CaitsFavoriteColors: I REALLY appreciate this! I'm currently growing out my curls after losing my hair from chemo and this new texture really takes some getting used to. My hair is currently his length and my hair gets so frizzy after sleeping! Totally going to buy one of those bonnets!!

Amira Bouchiba: Thank you so much for this Mel!! I had my hair short for years simply because I looked like the crazy cat lady all the time when it was long. I discovered you during lockdown and I decided to grow it out for my wedding next year At the moment it’s a bit longer than your mane man’s hair and this video was just PERFECT TIMING!! You’re my Texture Goddess Thank you thank you thank you!!!

anita hrund sveinsdottir: Omg the curls on your hypothetical future babies will be amazing!!

Matt Burnett: This video was a real eye-opener. I've always thought I just had naturally messy hair. Got my denman mini this morning. If I get anywhere close to these results I'll be happy!

Sarah Morley: My husband is completely bald but I'm still watching this because I love my curls and my curly Mel ☺

Awilda Torres: Thank you!! I began the wavy hair routine on my almost 2 year old but his hair still gets frizzy so I’ll be using these tips. He’s still a baby so loves touching his hair after I’ve styled it so I’m sure we’ll still experience some frizz.

Jessica Compton: Y’all are so cute! Mell your curls are popping! And your bf has gorgeous eyes! Glad to see you happy!❤️

Isabelle Vasquez: IT HAS ARRIVED!! STYLING FOR US SHORT HAIRED BEECHES!! Also ur mans is cute no hetero . And damn can we say glow up? What haircare can do is astonishing. Edit: YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THERES BEEN A MINI DENMAN THIS WHOLE TIME????

Lindsay W: Thanks so much for the video! One of my sons is growing into curls and it's fantastic to see a simple, non-flower/perfume smelling routine that works for guys. Thanks a bunch!!

Alexia Martinez: Thank you so much for sharing this. I lost all my hair due to chemo. I've been cancer free for six months & my hair came out super curly. It looks very similar to your boyfriend's hair. it's about the exact length as well. Having curly hair is very new to me, so thank you. Seriously.

Liza Lopez: Thank you for this! My 3 year old son has curls and I’m clueless on how to style his short hair. So helpful! Loved this so much! Thank you!

Ouiam: You look amaziiing together ♡, wish you a long happy life together!

Hattie Atkinson: I was laughing in a good way at Lucas’s commentary the whole way through! You lovely people were made for each other and it’s so frickin’ cute would love to see more videos like this. My partner also had curly hair when it gets long and he too wets it with water and has it styled straight!

Meenakshi: Mel its wednesday morning 8.30 in India. Yesterday ( Tuesday) I searched for men's curly hair routine because my bf has curlu hair and he didn't agree that and always careless with his hair.. but I was not satisfied with any of the videos.. Today morning your notification popped and I was really happy.. Thank you Mell❤️ Lots of love from India(Kerala) (Sorry for my bad english)

D Durall: Literally just styled my hair like this this morning and it turned out really good. I wish more people could see

Anthony Lopez: This was perfect, exactly the issues I’ve always had you answered them thank you

Cajunista Anya: This was GREAT! I enjoyed watching the two of you! I am so happy you did this video, because I have short hair that I am growing out, and I will use some of these tips! My hair on the side does that same "flip" thing too and my back just forms like a letter "c" instead of a full curl because it is not quite long enough yet. But I do think if I try some of these tips, it will help! I'd LOVE to see more short hair tutorials! xoxo!

Leslie Taylor: Please please do more short hair routines! I want to cut my hair very short but am worried about the grow out process. But this video really made me feel like growing it out would be possible - and even cute!

George Gallart: Thank you Mel I loved it! I have short curly hair and it showed me how to do my hair. I have Benn combing back with gelato flatten my curls. Now I stopped and my hair is coming to life thanks to you! Thank you again and hope for more clips like this one

Meg Foley: Wow, just wow. This is amazing, Mell! His hair looks so good! I am convinced now that my husband has curly hair! He typically has it short but it has grown out due to quarantine. Now it looks a lot like Lucas's used to! I'm going to have to convince him to let me do his hair sometime!

Mikey 305: Out of the videos that I have seen from you Mel, this one was the most helpful to me simply because this was a guy’s perspective. It would be cool to see more videos on the men’s take on curly hair because I would like to know how much more different or similar the routines for men vs. women since they both lead a slightly different lifestyle

Priyanka Singh: Mel, this is such an awesome video! I have been helping my boyfriend with his curly hair so this is perfect timing!

Elvin Jr Arroyo Muñoz: We need more videos like this!!! I’ve been longing for curly hair routines for males in your Chanel. Your tips really helped me to start my curly hair journey, but seeing it in a guy is so much more relatable. Thank you.

Luis Montoya: This video is gold! Thank you so much for this! More videos with Lucas please

AlizMari23: A curly love story for the ages ❤️

Rochelle Bux: Love this Mel! My boyfriend has curly hair too and no idea how to style it properly and gets so upset with me when I style his hair. Can't wait to show him this curly hair boyfriend potential!

Megan Fraser: Thank you so much for this video! I have followed your other videos for a while to help style my hair, but I cut it really short a little while ago and I haven't been curling it much because I would use the same method and it would always look really limp and have no volume, so I finally looked up a tutorial for shorter hair and I am so glad I found this video! My hair looks so much better now!

Silver Sadie: Yes! I have a curly pixie! I've learned so much watching your videos. Would love to see more short curly hairs videos. :) Love you, Eh! :)

Barbara: I love your content! I have been trying to get my curls back to a healthy state for the past two years. I went through quite a bit of stress which always makes my hair thin. Over this past year it has started thicken up. I love to workout and get very sweaty. Do you have any advice on how to keep my hair healthy since I have to wet it down almost daily?

Robyn Landers: So helpful after just doing a big chop! I've been struggling with how to style my new short hair

Crystal Bryan: OMG! This made my whole day! You are both lucky to have eachother! My healthy natural curls are a long version of Lucas's. I need it cut so bad but am not having lucky finding someone who specializes in textured hair cuts. My trims just aren't cutting it And yes, Mel is for real my main curly girl and has helped me immensely on my still very much in progress journey.

JAYE R: Thanks for the tips!!! I have loved the mini Denman brush over the normal size for a while. But when I went to a shorter curly style to remove damage from demon curl I can really see a difference in styling with this brush. I love both of the Aveda gels. Be Curly curl enhancer never worked, caused more frizz..... until I went to their site and Aveda recommends combining Be Curly with the Confixor liquid gel. It's in the Usage notes for Confixor.

Julia Romyo: Aarhh I really LOVE seeing this. U guys seem to fit so well together, i can feel the spark thru the screen. Well done ‘boo’ on this video! Keep it upss

YsabellaSkyy: This video is adorable!! I need to get my curly man on a curly routine!

Steve J: Awesome video thank you Mell and Lucas! I have frizzy, crappy (and fluffy hair) and for two decades have resorted to shaving it off. I've been following your videos in an attempt to grow it long and curly and see what happens. My curls are similar to Lucas in size but my hair is coarser and fluffier. I'm at about 3 inches on top and still look more like the picture at 2 mins and 30 seconds. Could you please do a video on what to do on day 2/3 as I'm co-washing every day at the moment. :)

Jenn Ferrell: this was so helpful! I'm currently growing out a pixie cut and trying to actually wear my hair curly/wavy and seeing just how curly it is, but I've struggled a little bit with even trying to figure out if I have enough length to use a Denman or finger coil my hair to help the curls. Thank you!

Evelyn Grodzicki: Loving your hair in this video! Can’t thank you enough for your videos, they literally changed my hair!!

Adriana Hurtado: OMG sooooo many thoughts going thru my head. First of all, damn you guys make a power-couple! Your babies will be curly beauties lol. Second, you have no idea what you as a texture hair pro do to us! You are giving me hope ONCE AGAIN.About a month ago, I cut my son’s (age 4 1/2)curly hair because it was extremely long. It has just gone flat and I want to cry. I have been using some of my products on him but is not working well, and I want to lie to myself and blame it on the humid weather, but in the back of my mind blaming myself for cutting it and ruin it. Up until this morning I was just thinking of cutting it shorter until I saw this video. I just decided I need to commit all the way to his beautiful head just like I have to mine and daughter’s (sight). Curls in general (women or men) are exotic . Thank you again

Beth Jones: Yay!!! I’ve got a curly boy who just started growing out his curls and this is going to help a lot!! We’ll just have to do the 9 year old version lol.

M T: I recently got a pixie cut, so thank you so much you inspire me to grow healthy curls ❤

Ally Villanueva: Thank god it has arrived! I wanna make over my bfs curl routine ASAP now! My bf is actually the reason I started wearing my natural, he has curly hair and I immediately fell in love with it and inspired me to embrace my curls and I’ve loved it since❤️

Regina Euzebio: As a very happy feminine female, with very VERY short hair, I am so happy for this video!!!! My androgens hair has now found the light!!

Chelley Bean: You guys are too adorable!! Loving this Texture Tuesday Video! So glad we finally got to meet Lucas

AnnieNunnaley: I definitely want more videos like this my son’s curly hair is as curly as mine❣️ Thanks guys

Angie Ptasz: Mel in fact HAS helped me and my hair journey Lucas. I have found so much fun and excitement in managing my curly hairs since finding Mel and I brag about her to EVERYONE as I’m sure you do as well ❤️ adorable couple!! Stay well guys!!

tenerife sea: as a guy an new to this curly hair world, I really appreciate this kinda videos with your bf Mel! there's not so many male youtubers with much insight as you about curly hair, so it's nice to get some tips from the curly hair pro! hope we'll get more videos with him in the future

Pumpkin Porter: What a cutie curly pie couple! OMG ! I'm so excited for both of you! Thanks for sharing men's curly hair too!!

Kassandra Martin: This was awesome! My son has curly hair like me but I've been stumped about how to do it!

Christiana Underwood: This is so precious. I am so happy men are putting more pride into skin and hair. You both are great fun, Im gonna subtlely start using these techniques on my wavy hair bf. :D Omg I commented before the outtakes. So endearing!

Tasha Chambers: Oh my goodness, I've been trying to find a video like this on your channel for weeks now! This answered so many questions, including ones I didn't realize I had! For example, I used to have ringlets in my hair, but have since cut my hair even shorter (it was always a pixie cut, just it is much shorter now), and I haven't had ringlets anymore. I thought it was because I moved to a really dry area! I'm guessing it's because my hair can't even curl because it is too short to do much other than have a lot of body. I guess I'll grow it out again! At least for the top of my head :) And that denman brush! It looks so useful to me! I didn't even think about the fact that you have to use it somewhat differently to how you use it on longer hair! And that the smaller ones are even more useful. Thank you for continuing to make these videos freely available for us! I only wish I found this one earlier.

aysha al masrieh: the way this girls inspire us to embrace our natural hair... just.. i love her

L Wheeler: You have literally changed my life (my hair) LOL! I had basically given up on my wiry, frizzy hair and just wore it up basically daily. Then i found your videos, bought the tools, used the tips and products you recommend and i cannot believe the change in my hair. CANNOT BELIEVE!!! Also, love that you use a lot of cruelty, vegan products because that's really important to me. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

Ashley Livolsi: Lucas’ curls are incredible! Such a fun video

sleepypasture: This was great. I'd love to see a wavy tutorial for short hair!

Cecile Greer: Awesome! Thanks for sharing your do, Lucas. Your curls look great!

AndrayaK119: I've been rocking the shaved/buzz look since mid April, but I'm going to let it start growing back out after summer. I'm a 2c/3a. This is giving me a good direction for when it starts coming back in. Thanks!

entofthewillows: super helpful for short hair! found out i was applying products all wrong thanks mell and lucas

Deborah Barlow: I love how your bf is as goofy as you! You two are so adorable together! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Julia Mancini: Thank you for this video!! I feel like there is so little knowledge accessible for guys on how to care for their hairs! I think this just might convince my boyfriend to embrace the curls coming with his long quarantine hair. Now only if I can convince him to embrace the bonnet too

Shari Rose: You two are so adorable!❤ And Lucas his curls are popping!

Aveen Radcliffe: This is a brill video, my husband has hair just like Lucas. Lots of tips! More Lucas videos please!

Heather Torres: The look in Mel's eyes when she introduces Lucas!!

Cat Bradley: Can you guys do more videos for short curly hair? ESPECIALLY for when you're growing out?? Starting to go from a pixie (that I've had for 7 years) to a long bob, and I'd love some tutorials for cutting and styling in that weird phase!

Cesia Saravia: Haha awww this was a fun video!!! It’s so cute how Mell is nervous when she never is nervous

Carl Grant: This is a great video and extremely helpful for me as I'm currently embracing my curls and letting them grow. Only question I've got is what does Lucas do on non wash days? Is he using any products, or just fluffing up what's already in his hair?

Birdie D: You two are adorable . Thank you for making me laugh. ❤️

Lucille Nomblot: From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU MELL! snapped and cut my hair short again and was wondering if I could find again the curls I had been struggling to help grow and strive? Please please pretty please, the short curly girls are begging you to do more videos for us shorties! Lots of love!

Christi Farris: Awwww Mell! He is so cute! You've been taking wonderful care of his hair. I would love to get a hair cut from you! You two are so cute! I am still trying your suggestions and fondong out what's working for my hair. It's getting there, but it's still a journey. Thanks for all your help along the way. As always, you girls are the best! Much love!

Erika Williams: I love mell shes changed my curly hair on a scale of 1-10 I used to be a 3 now im a 6 which is a big improvement. Now I need to figure out how to make my hair look normal after I sleep...I've seem her tips and ive tried them but my hair still looks a mess on day 2

nematoad: Aww you guys are such a cute couple! Thanks for this my boyfriend has curly hair like his too. Yay curly couples! My boyfriend would towel dry before he started living with me

Cristina Diaz: I would definitely like to see more for men with curly hair. My husband is only recently starting to embrace his curls but he is still a bit lost. He can’t keep his hair that long on top because he is in the military and I only know how to style my long curly hair. lol

Teodor Todorov: Thank you for making this video, I have almost the same curl type as Lucas and this was really helpful for me! I always wondered why the denman brush didn't work for me and I think it's because I try to start from the front (also I have the D3 7 rows one, do you think it will still work if I just remove two rows from it?).

Adeaner Ferreira: This is so cute!!! His hairs look amazing ♥️
