FTC: This is not a sponsored video. Everything was purchased by me, aside from the Hana Flat Iron and the Hana Shine Shield which I already have a review on. All opinions are honest. I am not affiliated with any brands mentioned, other than Amazon.

You hi everyone. Today, I'm going to be teaching you how I straighten my hair, I'm going to tell you some different tips and tricks on how I get it perfectly straight, and also how I maintain it when I want to keep it straight. My hair is pretty curly, so it can be pretty difficult to straighten, and I know a lot of you. People who watch me probably do have curly hair too, just like me and you might struggle with how to get straighten, and this is one of my most highly requested videos and haven't done one in a really long time. I think one of my first ever videos that I filmed was how I straightened my hair and that's way long gone outdated, so this is going to be an updated one. The straightener I am using is the Hana professional Flatiron that I got from Mystic, Oh calm or Masika calm, and I will have the link to where you can buy this down below, and I did a whole review and demo on how to use this last year. About this time, I think - and I also did a tutorial on how you can curl your hair, using a flatiron like this, so you want to check out more information on this flatiron if you're interested in getting it the link for that will be down below, along With all the other videos talking about this flatiron, so I first wanted to mention that before I straighten my hair in this video, my hair is already dry because I slept on it overnight and I washed it the night before. But if you have super curly hair, I would recommend blow-drying it straight before you do it just to smooth it all out, because the Flatiron can only do so much. So if it's super tight curls like even curlier than mine, then definitely you want to blow-dry it with a round brush to try to pull out as much of the curls as you can. But for me my straightener does a good enough job at straightening it without blow-drying it. So I can just kind of blow-dry it all over the place and not straighten it. That way, I prefer to let it air dry, because it uses less heat and it's less damaging. When you're pulling on your hair with a round brush, it can tend to break it off because you're pulling it and you're using the direct heat from the blow-dryer and the blow dryers have a lot of the hot heat like directly on your ends and stuff. So I don't prefer to do that, but if you have really curly hair then you would want to blow-dry it straight first to get that really sleek straight shiny, look and also makes it a lot of softer and easy to manage when you're straightening it. If you go blow dry at first so before I straighten my hair, I like to wash it really good just to get all the product buildup or oils, and all out that way. When I straighten it, it straightens perfectly, and it also will stay straight for a long time, because if I have products in it too many products and buildup and all that stuff, it won't stay straight. And I like to leave it for about four or five days. So I don't want any extra products in there so for that I use the L'Oreal ever pure sulfate free color care system, and this is the moisture shampoo for color-treated hair, and this does have a small amount of sulfates in it. So it's an actually clear out the gunk on my hair, but it's still such a low amount and such and not harsh ingredient that it's not going to really strip my color or anything because normally I do use totally sulfate free shampoos. But this one just has like a more of a mild sulfate in it, and then I like to date condition. So I use the Aussie 3 minute miracle, and this is my favorite deep conditioner. I'Ve talked about this a lot and I just use this. Let it sit for about 5 or 10 minutes and my hair. Why shave it like us and whatever, and that just helps it deep conditioned my hair, because I want to add a lot of moisture in it since I'm going to be straightening it and it's going to dry it out and all that. So this keeps it soft and looking, and I only focus that from my ears down because again I don't want too much product build-up up in my roots, so I'm going to first start off by sectioning off flavor. Then I'm just going to pin it up with a okay. So now I'm going to spray it with my favorite heat tamer spray. This is that got to be guardian angel 425 heat protectant, and this is mom, and I really like this stuff because it does provide like the silicone base. So your hairs you're sharing our slides over really nicely, and it also does a really great job of filling in. So I like to spray it by section I feel like. If I do my whole head, then it doesn't code it easily. Oh, I also forgot to mention I like to use the town of shine shield. This is what I got when I ordered my straightener at game for free, and I love this stuff. I like to put this like a small amount all over my hair, so I'm just going to do that real fast, and I focus this on the ends and again this is another barrier to help protect it from the heat and it also makes it super shiny And easy to run your straightener through it, so I like to take a section at all. I comb through it a few times. This is just your standard comb I like to make sure my hair is at my place. I can really get the roots, there's nothing to aggravate you more than curling people who straighten their hair, but their roots are so clean that joins me nuts. Ok, so I like to hold my comb about right there just to keep all the hair in place. I go remember it's a few times if your hair is even color than mine, that you want to take much longer sections so hold your comb in place and just have your straightener follow your come down. I definitely recommend using a comb for this because it just helps even all of it out and get rid of any tangles, because if you just fly over tangles, it's just going to press it into that, not the way it is and it just it won't get It all the way straight, even when you come in through, is still going to be like well knocking at the end. Now I'm going to go all the way to the end, I like to pull it kind of faster. If you don't want to hold your water there's some times, I just go over time to make sure it's true, but when I also forgot to mention, I have my flat iron on 370 and that seems to get my hair pretty straight. I used to keep it up on like 400 degrees, but it was so hot that it made my hair hot to the touch after I would touch, it would burn my hand, and that probably tells you it's a little bit too fun, and I always just thought With my hair so curly that I have to do it that way, but really with turning it down, I still get my hair straight, so if you use it on some really high heat, just try turning it down. For some reason, this section of my hair is always the curly. It'S like the middle section, so I have to go a little bit slower. Okay, now that I'm sure my bangs I'm going to actually try to find my part a little bit just because they didn't my face. We'Re gon na go up first for volume, okay, now, just like so like even out my part, a little bit as far as like snip down frizzies and stuff. So I just take a little section right from heart and get really close to the roots and kind of just bump it up like that. My ways, because I have a ton of flyaway hair right. It'S like way long. I went astray because limbs I like to just take that ends like this, not a bleep industry. I wanted to real quickly talk about some of my favorite products that I like to use. I already mentioned the shampoo and conditioner, so I won't get into that, and I also already talked about my favorite Flatiron balm. This is the got to be one, but as far as what my hair is a little bit frizzy or I just want to tame it down. I like the Loreal Elnett satin hairspray, but this works really well. If I just want to kind of spray it on. My comb like this and then use that to kind of tame down any of the flyaways and that works really. Well, then, for what I need to refresh my hair, because I like to leave it about four or five days, depending on how greasy it gets. And I only straighten my hair in the winter too, so it's already a little bit more dry. I never straighten it really in this summer because there's no point it just will shrink back up. So my favorite dry, shampoo, just to refresh my hair after about three or four days, is the instant dry shampoo. I got this in my beauty box. 5. So if you want to see that video - where I talk more about this - that will be linked down below, but this is a very cheap and affordable dry shampoo. It doesn't leave like a white residue and I have very dark hair. So I don't notice any of that and I really like it. It just absorbs the oil and just makes my hair feel soft. So you might be wondering how I maintain my hair. If I keep it straight for about 4 or 5 days, how do you keep it perfectly straight, because a lot of time you sleep on it or it might be humid one day or rainy, so this is just how I keep it as straight for as long As possible, so clearly I take a shower every single day, but I don't wash my hair if I'm going to be moving it straight. So I like to use a shower cap. This is just one I probably picked up at the drugstore, but it's got like cloth on the inside to keep your hair more dry. I put my hair up in a really tight bun and then put a headband in and then put this over and that's how I shower so. I can keep my hair dry and stuff while I shower and everything, and this does a pretty good job of keeping the water out. The only problem I have with is down underneath, but for that I just use my flat iron the next day to just touch it up if it's noticeable, also, when you use the shower cap and stuff in the shower, when you get out of the shower, don't Just immediately take it off because there's still steam and stuff in the bathroom and that can make your hair shrink up too and get a little bit curly. So I just leave it on until I'm out of the room away from the steam and everything, because the water vapor in the air will make it get a little bit busy or start to get curly again. So those are just a few things that people might not think about, but actually do affect, how straight your hair stays and how long it will stay straight. So I'm just going to give you a few tips on how to get really slick straight hair. If you have super curly hair, so of course I already mentioned to stay away from humidity. You also want to make sure your hair is totally dry. When you go to straighten it, don't ever put a flatiron on wet hair, that's just going to damage it and it can even just fall off in your hand, and you also want to make sure your roots are totally dry because I've blow-dried my hair before and Then I didn't realize some of the roots in the back. We'Re still a little bit wet and you can straighten over those areas. But then they'll end up not being totally straight and you'll see like little ripples, even when you're done straightening or they won't stay straight, because all the moisture wasn't removed from your hair so having totally dry hair before you straighten will ensure that it stays straight. For a long time, I also want to use this little product as possible. The only products that I put on my hair is the flat iron bomb in a little bit of the shine serum, but other than that. I don't like any leave-in conditioners in my hair. Nothing too heavy I like to shampoo everything out and then deep conditioned, and that's the only products that I have on my hair. Put it on too much product build-up, that's going to mix with the oil later on and just make it yucky, also having a really good flat. Iron is essential to getting your hair totally straight. This is the best one I've ever used. I'Ve tried the pop Mitchell. One, which is the one I featured in my last straightening video I've, also tried one that I got from Sally's. I can't remember the brand name and then some old ones way back when, but this has been the best so far you want to use something that is very thin, so you can get up close to your roots, and this also gets very hot, which is essential Because if it doesn't get hot enough - and it doesn't have these type of plaits - and it's not going to straighten your hair very good at all, when I would even use the Paul Mitchell one - I think it just had ceramic plates and it wouldn't get my hair Straight at the roots, like really close to my roots, and I would just notice that it wouldn't keep my hair straight for very long. It would end up being a little bit wavy or frizzy and stuff by the next day, and I think, having a good straightener is essential to keeping it straight for a long time. I can even go out when it's like raining very lightly, like even just drizzling. I'Ve gotten caught out and it started to rain outside. Before, with my hair, I didn't have a jacket or an umbrella or anything, and I just like rushed in my car, but even afterwards, my hair, it just stayed like this. It didn't really shrink up or anything. I might had a few places, I need a touch-up, but I think that is part of the flatiron balm that has the silicone in it. That kind of holds it in straight and also the straightener. It just seals the cuticle in a straight position and it creates like a barrier between your hair and the humidity. So even on humid days, I can get away with not touching it up too much by using that. So that's just a great straightener. I love it to death as far as keeping the humidity wait for my hair and keeping it straight for a really long time. Oh some of you also asked how I keep it shiny and that pretty much is the straightener. I can't remember what exactly these plates are made out of, but they're. Definitely, I think, of ceramic mixed with titanium. I can't remember exactly, but I talked all about that in my review, but the type of plates that the straightener has will make a difference on how shiny your hair is and also it prevents it from snagging and stuff and pulling out your hair and causing breakage And as far as the heat damage to so the type of straightener that you use and also the shine serum makes it very shiny, and this deep conditioner makes a huge difference because it has silicone in it too. So it just coats my hair, when I'm in the shower. So when I get out the straightener like slides over it, a lot better and just makes it really shiny, so the products you use, how healthy your hair is, and also the straightener that you use have a lot to do with how like shiny and lustrous. That looks so this video has been long enough. So if you guys have any more tips and stuff be sure to leave them in the comments below so I can read them because I know with straightening hair curly hair. It can be pretty difficult, so any tips that you guys might have or things that you do to keep your hair straight, how to get it perfectly straight. Definitely let me know in the comments below I will also have all these products that I mentioned in stuff link to where you can get them on my blog a little bit cheaper than normal, and I will also have the link to where you can buy the Hana professional flat iron that will be in the description box below it'll - probably the first link down there. Seviin89: I'm not into straightening my hair (not now, anyway), but I just had to comment on how informative this video was! You mention everything that someone who wants to style their hair this way should know for optimal results, + how to maintain healthier hair, even with the use of heat. Very cool!

Katt: She does take a lot of her time to help other people with make up etc... So it means she's really dedicated and that she is giving some pretty legit advice.

ashley williams: You did a really good job on making this video. All of the other girls on here try to make it look so easy lol. You have a great way of making what can be considered a hard task an easy task if you just follow your instructions. X) <3

ally warnock: Good bless your soul. My hair poofy so I rarely straighten it, and your hair is so curly and you put in the effort to straighten it! Inspirational

jahdei c: Any one else's mom freak out when you want to striaghten your hair? Or is it just mine? My mom gets worried I wont like it, but I love straight hair and I've straightened my hair before and loved it.

Brenda Alvarez: There's finally someone with the same type of hair I have. Thanks for the tutorial it was great! My hair is curly and frizzy and my bottom half is wavy and the middle and top is really curly like you said your middle section was.

Nancy Berry: Your hair is so healthy! I'm so jealous! I've just watched your review on Nature's Bounty hair, skin and nail vitamins and I can't wait to start taking them. My mum got me a huge jar for Christmas because she knows how much I love looking after my hair and skin, and now you've totally convinced me that they're worth taking! I love watching your videos, you've really encouraged me to really look after myself and I've now subscribed to you. Thanks! :)

Inmarie Mellani Ngo: watching this makes me feel lucky to have straight hair! I don't know how you can straighten your hair so well, but you look pretty !(:

Martha Johnson: I love the way you explain the things, i have a 2c or 3a or 3b hair type (i am not sure LOL) and I have never realized how beautiful could be. Since i remember, i have been using hair relaxer and now i am in the transition to get my natural hair. all your videos have been so useful, thank you for sharing all the things you know. I have some questions that i want to ask you, but i have to organise my ideas first =D. PS: I LOVE YOUR DOG! so beautiful!!

Moon_Goddess: Thank you for this video :) I'm doing my friend's hair today just needed something to give me an idea on how to do it, and this was perfect :)

BSLx: You look really good with both your natural curly hair and your hair straight! :) Isn't it hard to keep your hair frizz free when you're blow drying it or air drying it?

Catarina Smith: I love your video because I totally relate!! I have super curly/wavy/frizzy hair but no one would ever know because the way I style it. Have you ever tried a clamp brush in your straightening process? The one I use is conair I believe and it's just a two-sided brush that clamps. Anyways, I use both hands when straightening, flat iron in my right hand and clamp in my left (since I'm right handed) and I just alternate for each chunk of hair. It's literally magic how it works!

JewelQueen10: Your hair looks really neat after straightening! well done!!

TowMaterFan: You get your hair more straighter then I do and I've been doing it for a year now every other day.

seidimeow: We have almost the same hair, such a struggle! I have to go through this routine every 2 days, I use a chi iron + john frieda frizz ease hair serum, and it's a miracle worker!!

Micki Cele: Thank you so so so so much, I have to straighten my hair for tomorrow (for boring hs) and my hair is really curly, ( when I straighten it my hair is still wavy >:( I want it to be straight! ) so thank you once again! YOUR THE BEST <3

Jess A: I love it! I will definitely try the comb thingy. Your hair looks a lot less frizzy when it is straight.

Jenna Grove: You have the closest hair type to my hair that I've seen on youtube so far. I Love that Loreal shampoo/conditioner. I used to use that Angle heat protectant by Got 2 B but I stopped using it because I find the "It's a 10" spray is SO much better. Also, afterwards I put a small tiny bit of coconut oil from Hask in the ends and it makes all the difference. I haven't found a great hair masque and I haven't found a great hairspray yet, so I'll have to try the ones shown. But yeah, I'd be curious to know how you style your hair when you wear it curly! :)

Ellie Scoulding: The English version of Psssst (the dry shampoo) is batiste, it's £2.99 for a big bottle and comes in about 5 different scents. It's amazing xx

kesha erho: OMG this actually worked way better then how I usually do it THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

deselise: I feel like the best time to straighten your hair is in the spring because my hair gets frizzed in the cold winter and curly in the summer. :)

Fangaliel Lionheart: I have Very puffy freezy curly hair. Your explanation reassures me. I'm gonna try it under your advises and come back later to give you a follow-up ;) Many thanks for your video.

Macaulay Lawson: Tried this on my hair and It goes so much straighter now :)

Alessandra Falcini: omg thankyou for this! my hair is just like yours and when i straighten it, it goes really greesy!! THANKYOU FOR THIS!!!!

Morganator52101: In order to straighten your hair while its wet ( which is possible it won't damage it or fall off) is by using a certain straightener, it's called wet to straight I have one and I get out of the shower and I straighten it without it being dry all the time.

Brenda Alvarez: Also your hair is gorgeous curly and straight. I also don't straighten my hair that often because it damages it so much

Kerry-Ann Lecky: Thanks nice vid ! How often do you straighten? Btw we have similar curl pattern and I've been able to go down to 320 degrees also I love tresumme heat tamer spray plus a small amount of paul mitchelll super skinny .

nina vetrov: i have hair just like yours but mine is already damaged and im only 15 y.o., so thank you for this video, it helped me so much <3

Esther Ybarra: Your hair was a bit frizzy after you flat ironed it. Have you tried an Andis flat iron? Most are specially made for coarse and curly haired people. I have one, and it works great! I leaves my hair COMPLETELY straight, and it makes it super shiny. :D

a〈3smakeup: Thank you so much! My hair is super curly and this helped so much

Ida : WoW, we have EXACTLY the same hair, and i always strugge with straightening it:-D thanks for the help!!

Gena Marie: You should try to embrace your natural curls as much as possible! I only actually straighten my hair a handful of times a year. Your natural hair is really what looks best on your since it's what your meant to have :)

Mary Newton: Awesome, this video helped a lot. Now I know I was doing it wrong. I had long hair first time I received my flat iron and when I used it, it wasn't tiresome and my hair came out beautiful and shiny. Since then every time I tried, I got frustrated and quit. I need to know what products you used. Thank you.

sarilove123: there are hardly any good hair videos for curly haired girls and yours is the best i've seen! and thanx for mentioning what to do if your hair is curlier than yours cuz mine is really curly and nothing ever works<3

PirateMehPup: Most of the videos I watch, the girls start out with straight hair so this really helped. Your also so gorgeous!

kylie bellerive: this accually really helped!!! I am 12 and have not compleatly curly more wavy and I've always just braided it at night and slept on it but now I've started straightening it and this really helped!! thanks!

starlitmakeupchick: I have naturally curly hair that I straighten too. I use Kerastase oleo relax slim leave in it really helps my hair not be poofy! I use Kerastase oleo relax serum to flat iron with & Ciment thermique heat protectant for blowdrying as well. :)

Ora Chaya: You look so beautiful with curly hair! I hope you wear your natural hair more often! =D! You just look so stunning that way! Beautiful CURLS! ^o^ <3

NKULSU522: this is how i straighten my crazy curly hair! great method

Literally.literal: Can’t believe this was 9yrs ago. It helps so much still to this day!

Ashley Smith: Does your hair curl back up as easily once you've been straightening it for awhile with the iron? I know some irons prevent your hair from getting its natural curl back if you switch back and forth frequently.

dressagejumpingrocks: I wish my hair was like yours! Lol, my hair is SUPER curly. How long does it take you to straighten your hair? it takes me about an hour. You're so pretty!

Alexas Goodwin: How long does it take to straighten your hair usually?

Jenna Downey: I wish I had come across your videos a long time ago!! I'm really impressed! My hair has been through so much abuse and looks horrible. If only I had known the right thing to do. Question for you: The Loreal shampoo you use, does it lighten hair at all or bring out streaks? I have tried a sulfate-free shampoo before and it strips my hair color and makes it look so horrible.

therandomexistanceofelizabeth: When I straighten my hair I use a heat protector and A LITTLE hair spray and it stays in I use the tool science straightener and it's like hers but a lot cheater plus I'm a dancer and we were straight hair for dance recitals and it stays in good luck on all your hair journeys

waterbing: how long does your hair remain straight after straightening?

Brianna Carter: I have a similar shower cap, To keep your hair really straight wrap it at night. Look up a tutorial on how to wrap hair, wrapping hair is also a no heat way to straighten hair.

Skylaer Hemmings: My sister has the same hair as yours, but hers is SUPER CURLY and really really thick, it takes her at the least 3 hours to straighten her hair, and it doesn't even get perfectly straight it just gets straight enough and gets frizzy. I sort of feel bad for her lol

D’glester Hardunkichud: It straightens faster if you hold the comb in front of the flat iron to distribute the heat and it smooths it out better too

Purple Grape: Yass I do too! Curly hair is a blessing and a curse btw your so sweet! Thank you for your amazing video!!!!!❤️❤️

Jasmine Childress: I love how straight it got and how gorgeous it it but it looked very oily because the stuff she used but other than that its gorgeous

Catarina Smith: I got mine at Bartell Drugs, just a random Drug store near me. I have yet to see one in Target but I'm guessing most drug stores will carry them! Your video inspired me to share mine, I'll send it to you when it uploads because it's honestly magical how it works, I can't imagine straightening my hair any other way!

Jasmine Liz: You look so great with straight hair! :)

lovexxbeautyxx: your natural hair is sososoosos beautiful! so is your straightened hair!!

Haille Hanley: you're drop dead gorgeous. And you look beautiful with curly and straight hair.

DoyalikeSazz: I AM IN LOVE WITH YOUR CURLY HAIR IT'S GORGEOUS. My hair is so noodle like it's horrid

Kaylyn Allen: My hair curls up into ringlets and even I try really hard to straighten the roots, it doesn't work. But I will try your method. We also have the same thickness in hair (thin but alot of hair) and your hair looks really thick.

Gnarly Turtles: Your hair looks good curly, i have the same curls as you but the roots of my hair go crazy and pop out i end up looking like a monster lol

starla tallman: How long does it really take you to straighten your hair?

Kerry-Ann Lecky: One more Q. Do you do a full sulfate wash after to get the silicone out or do you still use the loreal low sulfate shampoo ?

Natalie SM: YOUR HAIR IS SO SHINY!! like, so shiny it looks like you have sparkles in it, i love it! How do you do it? or is it naturally like that?

jessica m: Loved the video. Didn't know if u knew but using a comb like that will also create split ends..better to use a brush or wide toothed comb..as well as when your hair is wet..or in the shower..

Sarain Nunez: This helped a lot thank you :) and you look great

Lara Liepold: how long does it take you to straighten your hair?
