Unique Curly Mullet Haircut *80S Style* (Step Mullet)

Dan gives Reece a unique curly mullet haircut with a step. Dan asked if Reece would go down to a skin fade on the sides, but he was set on the unique style of a "step mullet" with texture added to his curly hair.

#MensHaircut #Mullet #80s

All right guys welcome back to the legal gentleman youtube channel at the hunter collective uh. Today we've got rhys in the chair now. We'Ve got a very exciting one today, because we've got our very first mullet, my very first mullet for a long time. So i used to have a very summer hair because this, if anyone used to work with me in the liverpool city center uh men's salon, they'll know exactly what i'm talking about. I even had highlights as well so we've taken it back a little bit now, but so we've just had a little chat only because it's such a personal personalized haircut, two wreaths. Okay, so should we have a little chat again and we can talk to what we just spoke about. So i asked you what you would like and you've got a particular request on how you, like your hair, cut and you've had done like this. For a long time and you, you know, you love the mullet right you're attached to the bullet yeah and i know that's like it's almost like a it's almost like a beard. It'S like a anyone with a beard, it's kind of the same idea. It takes you so long to grow, it's like you get to become attached, so your idea was was that you want to have you showed me a picture? Didn'T you - and it was shorter here, step and then longer here at the top as well yeah and obviously through the back, which you have to texturize the mullet a little bit. We want to maintain as much length as possible and then we'll just break it up. A little bit i'll show you i'll do a little technique for that to kind of maintain length now on the top you're wearing it forwards. Is that right, but you've got a little bit of a little bit of asymmetry sitting through there as well. So you've got a little bit of longer length there compared to that side. There. Now i put a suggestion to reese was that on the sides i said: let could we do a skin fade and you were he wasn't a big fan of the skin fit which i understand it's it's it's a particular look for somebody right. So reese really wants to keep the kind of step in it, but i thought what would be quite nice is, if we did say like a one or a one, half on the very bottom, then we did maybe a bit of clipper of a comb or something Maybe a four or something that kind of length with longer length, no scalp exposure and so to obviously keep that kind of shape and squareness through here and then just put a line to separate the two more than leave it as a step. I just think the line will kind of crisp it a little bit more and give that give that separation, but it would be really really neat as well, and i think it looked really nice. So that was a good little compromise that we came to, because i could just see that looking a little bit more precise for this and it'll be adding a little bit of contrast like the really kind of loose curls and the mullets. And then that kind of really sharpness to the sides as well, so i think it'd be nice again through the top. You only want to lose by half an inch right, don't lose too much. I think it's more about shape, though, for reese as well. It'S more about this shape through the corners here, because you can see it's just a little bit longer through the corner. You don't really need all that for this center as well. No, they don't know you can see it's very kale here and then quite yeah yeah. So what yeah, i think, the shorter you go with that, the better that will be is one more. Do i'm not going to raise it this much i'm going to do this based on sections okay. So when you work on sections you can create texture, especially with curly hair. You don't want to cut you, don't really want to point cut into curly hair because it can sometimes look a bit frayed, so i always tend to cut it very blunt. The same through the back as well, and what i'll do that'll help to by the sections that we take, we'll we'll create the movement for you as well, so by going a bit shorter here, we'll be able to kill that a bit more to match up to The to the top as well and same through the back at the same time, all right. So, let's give it a wash and a condition and then we'll get started so guys. I'Ve just shampooed and conditioned reese's hair. I'M going to start by working on the the mulch okay, so i'm going to get that away because it's like like it's like two haircuts: okay, the back is on it of of its own accord right. So this is something that we work on to air separately and independently from the sides and the top okay lake reese wants a little bit of texture in there. You'Ve got lovely curls at the back as well, so i think it'd be really nice to to help the kales move a little bit as well, and i'm also going to disconnect it from the sides as well. Okay, there's my disconnection so that again is the sides. That'S blended into the back, so this is what i'm going to focus on for the bullet and just want to keep all this length again. Reese just wants it just textured. That'S all you really want to do so. What we'll do is take wide sections like that and bring it into the middle, so i'm over directing both sides towards me because now you'll see length come off it, but what i'm doing is don't forget, cutting into the middle to break it up. So it's going from shorter to longer, so all that length is there. We'Ve got shorter elements in there too. There'S the shorter, bringing everything into the middle. I'M going to tip my fingers towards the top to create length towards the bottom, make sure we do it down. The bottom nothing comes off and then out towards me fold it through like that and then another bottom. So you see what we're doing we're leaving all that length, but all these shorter layers are going to help you move around. So what we're left with is movement through the shorter layers we've over directed everything from the side into the middle, so we're maintaining length either side and on that shorter layer in the middle, as you can see right, there pull the fingertips away from me. Do the same thing: there we go so we create this movement and a longer finish down the bottom as well again, like i said at the start, the sections that we take going to create the texture in this haircut, especially the back as well so reese, is Wearing it all forwards, that kind of texture i'm going to wear from the fringe and we're back to maintain a little bit of length through here as well, i'm going to take a section down the middle and we'll cut this a bit similar to the way we Do our crop fringes so about half an inch off the top i'm going to mess that up with the fringe as well just isolate the fringe. Do you want to sit just on the eyebrows yeah just on the eyebrows, just on the eyebrows yeah? I reckon we could remove about that, and that's it just right and pull that straight forwards like sure as it dries in. That'S it just on the eyebrows nice wide section we use our guide from underneath and just match up if anything needs to come off, and it does, if not just make sure it's nice and even should help break up that fringe a little bit just taking the Profile section i'm going through and cut off a little bit through there, so that, as it falls, the layer behind is a bit shorter, a bit shorter than there. Let me stretch this section is just here. You know okay, so you've got a shorter bits and longer bits and shoulders along a bit shorter bits will care a lot more. The longer bits will probably escale so a little bit looser here, but as they all bind together, it'll create a lovely little bit of texture in there i'll work from the back to the front. Doing a wider section, like we said we're going to longer here, taking less off. Is that as you leave, that wider section, you're kind of almost over directing hair into the other section? So what that helps to do is create texture cut the hair over the top, because, if you've got longer bits and shorter bits and longer bits and shoulders, that's what it helps to do. It'S not movement, especially when you're working with curly hair. You can take a bit more off this side now because of where the length was section just above the round of the head, i'm going to take a horizontal section. Let'S see this corner in a bit, but that's been playing up. Bothering him a little bit and say that him - and this will help work with our blend as well horizontal. We can connect them so that helps take away that really long corner we're getting wide sections for even long bits and shoulder bits. There'S a cheekbone in there. So that's it's just of the eyebrows and then we'll work on that little blend of the back, so i'm gon na dry it off with the diffuser just so we get that nice curl too. Okay, a little bit of salt spray dry them kales in i'm. Just twisting the hair to my fingers like that, i'm just trying these curls off so really brought 10 kills at the back now. So i'm gon na start on a four just because i think four, four and a half four is a good length. It won't look like it's any scalp exposure, but it's just a nice balance that little bit we've caused a shorter here just a little bit. That'S my little guide that i'm working to so that's gon na keep it nice and square for you. So when was this last quarter again, did you see about five weeks ago, five weeks ago, yeah yeah, maybe six when we blend this in looking up to the guide, just strengthen this up a little bit, don't shape it too much. So how short would you like to go on the step? Then? What are you thinking just go for it? I reckon half so yeah that was really cool. Yeah, it looks nice yeah see the four doesn't look that well, the phone doesn't look bad sure. Does it at all? Why should you never met me, though we do the same thing again, this side now so perfect one side and then do the other side open it just to the temple got my guide just sitting above there blend in four and a half i'll work on our Lineup onto our engine strengthen the temple area, make sure it's symmetrical both sides there, then what i'll do just either side here i'll just line up the neckline a little bit as well clean this and sharpen this as well looks nice now, one last little bit to Do that is through the crown here and bring it out, and i'm gon na move this side here. So what we'll find is, as we pick the crown off a little bit shorter a little bit longer bit there just cut that little corner off. So you get a nice little graduation into the top of the mullet. Hence why i was holding it like this as it gets longer down the bottom. That'S all for me great happier, yeah! Let me show you the back soon. It looks like we didn't do too much, we've broken up, you know, there's a girl's not enough, it really is, isn't it sometimes it does just sit like a dead cat. Yeah. Thank you. It doesn't look like i don't know. It looks like it looks like a fragrant 80s cop happier yeah come on. Thank you looks awesome. Thank you very much, reese wow. What a mullet man i mean. Look i mean we don't really need to describe what we did. Really it's pretty obvious. What we've done! Um, no, i was going to put a charm line in, but we don't need to because you've got a half. I honestly thought you wouldn't go down to a half at first, i thought you'd be able to take a two or a one and one half, and i thought you might need that little line and just to add that separation, but he doesn't need it. So i just, i think the half works really really well, and it adds that step that we need, if anything a bit longer. I probably would have suggested putting a charmander in a very, very fine line just to give that separation of it being shorter. So longer more of a harsh effect anyway, but an open five is perfect and that's pretty much it i mean. Would you like some product to styling, or would you like to leave it more natural? What would you prefer something to define the curls would be good. Maybe something creamy something: what about powder yeah yeah go for it. Have you used one of them before uh yeah? I think so. Okay, with these we'll bring out the cows, you do work across the top and then for the back, bring your hands and just scrunch. It in yourself, okay, okay, scrunch it in what i'll do that'll bring yours, the cows loads? What you do is you scrunch it? Okay, with the top working like a shampoo and i'll bring out loads of decals in there, as you can see proper proper, but it's completely matte completely reworkable as well, and it just gives you really like a lot more definition, a bit more a bit more thickness. As well so the curls a little bit thicker more than kind of being too wispy for anything a bit longer as well. So that is a really nice haircut to almost end the day, respect you so much man for doing such a creative vehicle. It'S it's! It'S awesome. It'S really refreshing to see mate. It really is. I can't even see my slug of a mustache on here. Have you got mustaches, take it off our social distance, wow strong. The worst thing that ever happened to me this year was when targeting came out. I'Ve had this for quite a while, and i've never been never had been heckled from a car. Until then yeah man - it's he wasn't, you know not the best representation, probably probably not. No. I know i wouldn't. I wouldn't suggest that mate now this you
