What'S up youtube monet everett here today, i'm going to do a video, that's a little bit different, as you may or may not know. I am a working hair and makeup artist and i am a freelancer. So what that means is that i focus on doing photo shoots: videos, celebrities, weddings things of that sort. A lot of people ask me what products and tools i carry in my kit, because maybe they're interested in going into the same field. So i thought i would do this video and show you all the different cool stuff that i carry mind you i'm working in new york, so i like to carry all of my stuff as much as possible in miniature sizes. I am not linked to any particular company, so take what i say loosely just use the products that work for you, you're always going to want to have a hair spray, a mousse, because you need something to put some type of foundation in the product, mousse and Or a setting spray, i think that's biology, setting thermal setting spray, which is absolutely freaking phenomenal that i will say a thickening hairspray as i'm working. It'S really important to know that the products that i choose to carry in my kit can be used on all hair, textures and ethnicities. Whether i want to use something to thicken fine hair or to smooth thicker coarse hair does not matter the ethnicity of my client. So i need a product, that's multi-functional as well. I have a styling lotion great for blow dryers, wraps anything i'm doing something to smooth edges, and i like to utilize little bottles that i can take products out of and put them into a smaller holder, hair gel. More texture paste, oh my my got ta have you got ta, have shine, people tend to notice and hear the amount of shine and the shape, so shine is really important. I have it in liquid gloss drops as well as actual spray, and i even have that in multiple types of spray. I also keep a hair grease or oil, whichever one works for you and coconut oil on the side, because i don't want that natural hair girl to sit in my chair and i have to tell her. No, i can't do you, i didn't know you were going to have natural hair initially that girl wouldn't show him that well, you know hold on hold on right. There, shampoo, conditioner uh, it's not very often that you will need that, but it may come in handy. So you want to make sure to always be prepared. Dry. Shampoo is a great plus it's great, for if someone has really oily scalp or if uh, you know, you want to produce more volume, anything along those lines. What else? What else? What else brushes i like to use square brushes? Those particular ones are from denman which um i like them, because they are great for streaming out horse, hair or hair. That doesn't really want to work with you so well, and you can also use it. Even though it's square to get some roundness and get a nice round blow dry other another denman brush, this is the denman brush most people know about. I just got it in my key purple and black. As you know, i like purple and black. This is very similar to the really expensive mason pearson brush that i don't have yet, hopefully, one day i'll get great for detangling styling, you can get it in a small size. You can get something similar in a large size. Just a hard brush is all i'm recommending. Paddle brushes are great coming back to round brushes the first ones that i showed you were either ceramic or titanium. You also want to have natural bristle brushes, because you will be working with different hair textures. Next up are combs rat tail. Combs must have got to have a rat tail comb. I try to stay away, at least for my basic rat tails from black, because they have a tendency to just get up and walk away. My personal favorite are the metal chip. Combs, i think you get cleaner parts and when i was in the salon i did highlights with it never know when it'll come in handy teasing, um, comb or brush. This happens to be a brush wide toothed comb, because some you may need to detangle some wet hair and you don't want to be ripping through the person's head with a tiny comb uh. I have a ton of pins, i'm going to do a close-up to show you the hair pins. I have like i said hairpins. I have them in short, uh, medium and long, and i have them in black brown and blonde because you got ta. Have brother hair colors? Oh, i even have some silver too. You know, gray, hair mama's needs to look good got bobby pins. In this case, i have them in short, medium and long as well. Most people are familiar with the medium. I also have that in black brown, gold and blonde and silver everybody needs bobby pins. I have these little clippies that come in handy. I have double bill clips. These are great for setting the hair to do different curl sets with your curling iron. I have hair nets. Those are great for updos. Also donuts are good to have in your kit i'll talk later about the importance of hair extensions, but donuts come in handy what else i have in rubber bands in multiple different sizes. I have them in black and clear and small size, small slice large. I have grippies. I have regular ponytail holders like stunchy in there i have the wrap around ones. You'Ll see them um, as i point them as i put that in there. So for all of the small items that i showed you that were travel sized, they all fit in here, every one of them go in this bag. I also carry a lot of the zuka bags to put my longer products in and i'll talk more about zuka a little later in the video as well. Now, moving on to the tools that you're going to need in your kit, you know you're going to need things like a flat iron, but what you may not know is you're going to need more than one size. I, like a lot a medium and a small one, the medium of course you know you use it on most people, those small come in handy for short hair or for, if you need to slick down edges, universal curling iron is a one inch. But don't forget your 3 4 and your one and a fourth you'll use that quite often next, the blue dryer. I like the t3 lightweight those do the job pretty well for me. So now we're going to get into some extras and by the way i don't necessarily carry all of those sizes. The further the more advanced you get in your skill set the less curling irons and tools you're going to need because you'll be able to use one tool multiple different way, especially for those of you that are actual hairstylist you're going to want to always have some Shares and a razor on set that'll really come in handy and times. You won't expect now, let's get into some extra credit stuff that you may want to carry with you like hot roller said this is my smaller kit. I do have massive sets. If you want a really large voluminous set good luck, getting it any other way other than a hot roller set, velcro rollers. For the same reason, oh also a hair cutting comb to go with the scissors. Super extra brownie points bring you some weave to that set you'll stand out also needle thread for clippings clips weave glue, you never know you might be on a set and your client's, uh weave just might be loose and you don't want to tell them. Oh, i can't help you so down that piece of hair or glue that piece of hair back in place. I didn't bring my stuff, not sure if i mentioned your cape so make sure you have that that's really important for you to always have for bags that i carry a lot of times. I'Ll use the zuka i'll use this red one for my hair and makeup i'll use the black one for just my hair stuff or the stalazzi bag. If i need some extra storage, this is the logi badge up bag. I like because it has a lot of different compartments, so i can actually use that as a set bag as well. A set bag is something that you need to have literally when you're on set or at a wedding. Maybe you might need to do some touching up, so the stalazzi bag is great for storage and touching up. The zooka bags are great because i can use them when i fly out they fit in overhead compartments. The black bag actually comes with a rather small but needed insulated area, so i can put hot tools inside of it. So this is my first video like this.
