You Do What To Your Hair? | Wash, Style, & Chat W/ My Nephew!

Hello Beautiful People!

My nephew has been growing his hair out for a while, so I decided to give him the full NJ Eberhart Wash Day Treatment. I'm also chatting with him to see what he does for his hair, what he knows about natural hair, and any tips that I can give him to help with his hair journey.

Please give this video a thumbs up, comment, share and of course SUBSCRIBE! New videos on Wednesdays & Saturdays!

All right, first y'all, sorry for the echo we're in the bathroom. Welcome to today's video. I have my nephew here in and he's got a lot of hair and i'm going to be doing it. I'M going to be doing basically everything that i do to my hair to his hair and also asking him what he does in his hair to kind of compare you're 17 years old. So if y'all have you know, siblings sons, nephews, grandsons, whoever who have hair like my nephew - and they want to know like how they should do their hair, how they should style it, how they can care, for. It definitely share this video with them. But first before we get into styling my nephew's hair, if you haven't done so already go ahead and hit the subscribe button and while you're at it go ahead and hit that notification bell, i post new videos twice a week. So if you're subscribed, you don't hit that notification bell and you won't miss another upload from me. So let's just go ahead and start this hair, i'm going to pre-poo your hair, which you probably have no idea. What that is, do you no not at all? Okay? So this is to help detangle your hair before you wash it just give us a run down. What do you do to your hair like? How often do you wash it? What do you do when you wash it like? You said just detangle my hair um, because i do have a lot of tangles. It does tangle a lot. So it is, it is a handful. I don't. I don't really do much to it, but maybe put water on it to get out the tangles and stuff um. So you just use water, nothing else, i'd say so. I can never do that to my hair. Just add water, okay, so then after you detangle it. So how often do you wash your hair? Not well, maybe a week i'd say so. Every week you wash it not. Every week like one week out of a month, you wash it okay, okay, more information. I do put. No, i mean i'm still trying to figure out how much, how often you wash your hair. You said a week yeah a week. What does that mean? Like i don't understand, i have once a week yeah once a week, i'd say: oh so, once a week you wash your hair. Yes, alright, continue! Sorry, i just need a clarification on how often you wash your hair. I do put on leave-in conditioner. Okay, so you wash it and then you put in leave-in conditioner and on a daily i'm starting to put grease on it to moisturize it and stuff. When i go to bed um, i'm putting it i'm parting it and and everything so it reduces the tangle. So it reduces the breakage, because i i'm trying to reduce my breakage and hair loss and then what else do you put on top? When you go to sleep, i'm a do. Okay, so you're protecting your hair, okay, somewhere in there. You need to be deep conditioning. Your hair, that's like the most important step, in my opinion, if you don't do nothing else to your hair, deep condition and i'm going to be doing that for you after i detangle with this is one of my favorites. This is the nature's little secret fenugreek detangling pre-poo. I don't know if y'all can see it one of my favorites and it just helps you to go through your hair easily and detangle it. So what are the styles that you like to do to your hair um? Like how do you like to wear your hair, probably in just afro? Does it afro like this because, because twisting takes too long, i've done it twice now and the last time i did it took way longer like it took up a whole night like a school night. I did it on a school night and did not get any sleep. Yeah twisting takes a long time, especially if you're kind of new to twisting, because that was your first time right right. You have thick hair like me, i guess it runs in our family and it takes a lot to twist your hair. I don't know what my hair type is. I know it's tight tight curling though yeah i would say so the typing it kind of matters, but it kind of doesn't. You are definitely type 4 hair, i would say even type 4c, so there's type 1, 2, 3, 4 and then within the types there's a b and c right and i would say you're around 4b4c, but mostly it's porosity that matters. So do you know what i've heard of porosity before i think it's holding in moisture or something exactly look at you? So if you are a high porosity, that means that the hair layer called the cuticle, which i believe is the outer layer of your hair. It stays open all the time, so it's easy for moisture to get in, but because it's open all the time. It'S also easy for moisture to leave low porosity means your cuticle is closed, and so it's hard to get moisture in, but once moisture is in it's hardening it out exactly so once you actually are able to moisturize your hair, the moisture can last not always. I feel like curly hair is always going to be dry, no matter if you have low porosity high porosity at some point, your hair is going to be dry and you're going to need to re-moisturize it, but that's just kind of a way to know how to Moisturize, your hair, so looking at your hair because i sprayed your hair with water and the water is kind of like sitting on your hair right and if it's sitting, i'm assuming that your hair is not wanting to let this water in which then means your hair Is wet dry dry, but what porosity? Yes exactly low porosity, so i'm assuming your hair is leprosy. My hair is low frosty and what you can do to help open up. Your cuticle is to add heat, washing your hair with warm water, open up your cuticle and allow moisture in, even though you don't deep condition. If you do start deep conditioning, which i highly recommend deep conditioning with heat, also helps as well, because it'll open up your cuticle, but not too much heat, i've heard yeah. It was your hair. So that's if you're, using direct heat going in with like a flat iron, potentially cause damage. If you use too high of heat and if you do it too often, but the heat i'm talking about is like using plastic caps to do like the greenhouse effect um. Where you're, using the your own heat from your head and trapping it with the plastic cap or which y'all probably don't have, i have like a dryer that i can sit under, but do you feel how like easy, i'm able to go through your hair with this Um pre-poo, yes, pre-poos, it's a game, changer all right y'all, so we have done pre-pulling detangling. Now we're going to wash the hair, which it's going to be a little bit difficult to show y'all, but i think we are going to use. I don't have it with me now. I need to go downstairs and get it, but i think we're going to use the um, agile beauty, blue tansy, clarifying shampoo, because i feel like we do need to clarify his hair and make sure we just get it nice and clean. But then it's also not stripping as well. I don't want to strip his hair even further. That'S the shampoo that we're going to use. So i'm going to use that and then we'll come back when it's time to deep condition all right. So we have rinsed out the agile beauty, blue, teensy, clarifying shampoo and now we're going to go in with one of my favorites, because it's super moisturizing. It has tons of slip. This is from nature's little secret. This is their mixed fruit, nutrient rich, deep conditioner. I think i'm just going to take it and just lather it. So this is the deep conditioner. This is the step that i said that you should do. Every wash day, every time you wash your hair, you should deep condition it all right y'all. So we deep conditioned and rinsed out the conditioner and now we're going to go ahead and style. So i'm taking my meesh beauty, lavish leave-in and just going to apply a generous amount, and you said this is what you use is the leave-in meal right, not the brand, but i'm saying like you use a leave-in. Yes, then, i'm going to attempt to section off you want me to twist it or braid it. You can braid it. Okay, i didn't show y'all, but i used a vegan milk rose almond eye twisting butter to braid his hair. I should have used an edge control like some sort of pomade to kind of slick down the hair, a little bit more like at the roots. But i didn't do that, and this took me forever y'all like forever, because his hair is short. So i had to make the plot small you want to like go like this. I can't do it they're too short. No, i don't mean like go like this, but just go like this, no, not to me to the camera. The camera is right here calling this on the camera there. You go, that's it for this video. I hope that y'all enjoyed this little special moment with my nephew he's been wanting me to do his hair for a while, and i did it and it was hard work, but we'll see y'all in the next video bye.

christine ruff: Awesome thing you are doing for your Nephew. Love how his hair turned out. ❤️

Ashley Kirby: Too cute! I love doing other people's hair as well as my own. I used to do my little sister's hair often. It's a bonding experience it really is!

Suzette Hill: That was so nice of you! I know he loved it? It looked good. He is going to be hunting you down to do it again. So many young men have nice hair that need tending to. When I open my natural hair salon I’m going after them

Pamela Queen: I'm so glad you shared this experience doing your nephews hair! I have a 17 year old son and he has a full head of hair like your nephews but longer. We also use the Miche lavish leave in! I'm still experimenting with the best products for his hair. It takes me forever to wash, condition and braid! I wish I could find a salon to do it! Good job! It looks good and he's a handsome young man.

Patricia Campbell: You did a great job on his hair. ❤❤ I would love to do my nephew's hair.

Renae: Loved the video! Great to see you doing your nephew hair and it turn out great

Jasyoucan: This was so sweet! You did an amazing job

Rhonda Nelson: That was so nice of you to do that for your nephew. He’s probably thinking, this is a lot of work

CShemica: He is too cute! That is something he will always remember.

Kathy Flemmings: You did an awesome job it looks great

Nicole Williams: This was a cool video. My youngest is 17 & I twist & braid his hair. Prepooing is important. My son has long thick hair that tangles like mine. Lol. I use my Revair to stretch his hair before styling. It takes a long time.

1GoldenBreeze: It was very nice of you to care for your nephew's hair and teach him a lot about how to up his haircare game. I know it took a lot of patience to braid his hair, but you did a wonderful job. Your nephew seems like a sweet kid by the way he sat so patiently and was actually paying attention to what you were saying. He cracked me up crossing his eyes typical boy.

Ayesha Cromartie: okay nephew, he has a general knowledge of how to care for his hair. love that for him

Jeannine Gorden: Aww that was a cute video. Maybe if u give him a DC he will start to use it regularly.

Diane S: If he uses a lot of grease it may just be build up that makes the water bead up on his head. If he never uses a clarifying cleanser that could be the situation. Nothing like a good deep conditioner. Great job.

Karen Hendricks: So cute!

ModelingTabi: he is so adorable aww he's a baby

Michelle Steward: That was nice of you, such a good auntie. He's a cutie. Are you going to show the end result, when he or you take it down?

K. Frenche: That was fun! Lol

D. K.: You have not aged!

One Flower Lover: He's cute Nisha!

Zakia Alkhatib: You aged 2 seconds
