Hi everybody, my name, is danielle nicole and welcome to monetary makeup. So i'm not sure if you can see these bad boys sitting right in front of me, but today is going to be all about the brand new dyson air wrap. Now my goal in this video isn't so much to say whether this product is worth it or not, because that is going to depend on many different factors, but overall i'm hoping this video will serve as a few different purposes. The first is to explain the difference between the new and the old how this product works best for my hair type, which happens to be very fine hair but a lot of hair. And if you have the original dyson air app and you're interested in the new one, you even need to purchase the entire new set. Now i have been using the original dyson air wrap for about a year now and the new dyson era for several months. So i feel, like i've, had a great opportunity to play around with the new one and compare it with the old i'll, also go over the pros and cons of each of these airwraps and also share with you some of the mistakes and tips. I learned along the way so if you're excited to get started and enjoy the video while you're watching, don't forget to give it a big thumbs up and let's get started right now. So first things first, i do have to apologize for getting this video up. A little bit later or a lot later than i initially planned now. I actually already filmed this video a couple of times and it took me a few weeks to film each time, because i did three different looks for you guys and with working a full-time job. Being a mom all that good stuff, you know it took a couple weeks at a time, but it was just one of those things you guys this video was just not meant to be, but anyways. We are here now. So, let's get started now, quick disclaimer! This video is not sponsored, i did purchase everything myself and all the links listed below for dyson are not affiliated. I really just want to share my experience. Give you as much information as i can to help you make a decision as to whether or not this air up is right for you. Now i'm going to hold up in just a second here i have the old air up versus the new we're going to go over all the details, but first, let's go over the price, so the old dyson retails for 549 and the new dyson retails for 5.99. So a 50 difference now there are actually a few differences in the packaging, nothing major, but a few. The old dyson looks like a faux leather and it is the same material on the new dyson, but it is a deep navy blue now. The one thing i really miss about the old packaging is that the top lid is connected, and it also came with a removable hot plate which is great for setting this product on the counter. If it was too hot, whereas the new lid, as you can see, is not connected now, in addition to the fully removable lid, this one does not come with the hot plate. Next, let's do a quick overview for how this product operates. So the old version came in silver and hot pink and the new one comes in silver and gold. Now there were different colors available for the original dyson and i believe there are different colors for this one as well. I just stuck with the original new, so this is what the actual machine looks like and you snap on the attachments on the top. Now the buttons are the same. It is off on cool shot. The next button is your temperature control, so you have cold warm and hot, and the final button on the actual machine is the power. So of course, you have low medium and high. Now dyson did claim to amp up their power in the new one. I can definitely attest to that. I have been going back and forth between the two and i can certainly tell a difference. There is more power in the new one. Now the old one works just fine as far as power goes, but just wanted to mention this one does have more. So next, let's go over the differences between the attachments, so this was the original blow drying attachment. So all you do is snap it on, and then the air comes out on the gray side, whereas on the new blow drying attachment, you will notice that it looks a little bit different and that's because you have control over the amount of airflow that comes through Just by turning this lever so same thing, all these attachments, just snap right on just like, so so. The old versus a new. Now both of these work phenomenal for blow drying the hair, and these are really known for having lower heat than some of the other tools you may have used in the past. Now, even though these machines are known for using lower heat than some of the other tools you may have used in the past, i do want to mention that the hot setting still gets quite hot. Now it's not going to be as hot as a curling iron or flat iron per se, but just wanted to mention the hot setting. Isn'T warm now. As i mentioned the original blow, dryer works just fine. I actually use this machine every single day. The one thing i will say is that it is nice to have the adjustable control for the amount of airflow that comes through, so not a huge difference. However, if i had the choice, i would definitely choose the new blow drying attachment all right. I have tiny hands so i'm trying to hold these up at once, but each of the dysons come with two different brushes for attachments. So this is the first brush attachment. We have the new versus old. Now this attachment is fantastic. If you want to blow dry your hair and basically have it straightened at the same time, however, the next brush attachment it's for a little bit thicker hair, and i find it gives a more straightening effect than the previous. I would say, with these brushes. These are probably the most similar with both of them, not noticing any major differences. Now i do want to point out. I have fine but a lot of hair, as i mentioned earlier now. The one concern i have with these brushes is, if you have extremely coarse or extremely thick hair, i don't know how helpful these brushes would actually be, and the reason i say that is because again it works just fine for my type of hair. However, if i have my hair flipped upside down - and i start to dry it like this - sometimes my hair can get. I don't want to say caught but snagged up just a bit, because i have so much hair all right. You guys. Please do not judge me on these used attachments, i'm sure you can tell there's hair in them. They definitely need to be cleaned which we will get to how to clean this actual unit in a second, but the next attachment is simply a round brush. Now i believe the bristles on the new attachment are a little bit longer, but not much. I would say, overall all these brush attachments are very similar all right. Next, let's get into the actual air wrap portion of the dyson air wrap. Now these little beauties right here i feel like, are one of the main reasons. There is so much fuss about the dyson area, so the original dyson air app came with four different barrels and you will notice that there are arrows on all of them. Now the arrows are meant to help you when you're looking in the mirror, so, for example, the direction that you want is the direction that you see when you're looking in the mirror. Now, just in case you are new to the air app the original air app, as i mentioned, fantastic i've been using it every day for about a year, but the one annoying part to the original is that when you want to change size to flip to the Next side of the hair you did have to pop off and pop on the other side of the barrel. So what i mean is let's say i was working on curling this side of my hair and i wanted to flip to this side. Then i would actually have to pop off this barrel and put on this barrel, so it's facing the proper direction and a lot of people, including myself, actually got quite creative i'd, say so, instead of popping off the other side, we would simply flip it upside down. Like this, that way would spin the right direction now. First world problems for sure. However, when you have a lot of hair, and especially if you're, in a hurry, when you have to constantly pop on and pop off these barrels, it did get to be a little bit redundant now. The other thing i forgot to mention is that, with the new dyson i did purchase the long barrels. Let me tell you if you have medium to long hair, especially long hair. The long barrels are an absolute must. So when i first started using the dyson with these original barrels, i was noticing that not only were my curls not lasting, but because my hair is so long, it was only actually pulling up enough hair to curl about halfway. So, as you can see, they've came out with several different sizes, so these were the two original and then these were the two long barrel. So i mentioned all of that because in the new dyson the one i have is actually called the long barrel edition. So you'll notice that these are the exact same length just different design. So all of that said, let's get to one of the biggest differences between the old versus new air out. So the new dyson comes with two barrels instead of four and that's because, instead of having to pop off and pop on the different sides after you pop it on, the only thing you have to do in order to switch sides is simply turn this little knob. Like so so, let's say i was using this machine right now and i wanted the curls to curl away from me. I would do this side let go, and originally i would have to pop off and pop on another barrel, but instead all i have to do to change. Sides is turn this knob and then i'd be able to do the curl the same direction. Now, if you don't have the air wrap, i know this can seem very complicated. The biggest thing is that they're just two different directions: the curls can go, they can go facing towards you or facing away now i personally like to do a mix of curls, but i do find the facing away are the curls. I prefer alright so now that we have gotten through some of the major differences and logistics. Next, you are probably wondering if you have the original dyson, do you need the new one and the reason i say that is because the new barrels will actually work with the old machine. So if you didn't want to invest in an entirely new unit, you could simply purchase these sold separately barrels and keep in mind. You would only need one or two barrels, depending on the size that you would like, instead of two or four for the old. So this is something i just wanted to clarify, because i was a little bit confused when i first saw the new one. So aside from a little bit more power, the actual machines are the same. The difference is in the actual barrels, not the machine. Now, of course, if you did purchase the new barrels, it's not going to match, depending on the color, you pick up, but it's up to you as far as the amount of money you'd like to save now. One thing i would definitely keep in mind is that with these dysons they typically come with a two year warranty, but the reason i bring that up is, i would hate to have you purchase one of the new barrels and have your machine just go put. So it might actually be worth it for you to just purchase the entire unit together. However, i did want to mention that the old barrels do work on the old. I apologize you guys. I'Ve been talking for a while and i'm sorry. I didn't get frog voice. All right, so those were all the major differences between the old versus the new dyson. Now, if i did miss anything or if you have any additional questions that i did not cover, definitely leave them down below in the comments all right now that we have covered the differences between the two now, let's talk actually styling the hair. So if you are looking for a product that is going to curl your hair with extremely tight ringlets and have them last for several days, i would not recommend this product because you have to keep in mind. The dyson is known for using lower heat than traditional hot tools, so there are some tricks. I'Ve learned along the way as far as styling and using certain products, but i did want to make sure i mentioned that now. In addition, if you are expecting these brush attachments to work as good as a flat iron or hair straightener, then again i wouldn't necessarily recommend this product now on someone like me, as you can see this brush and the dyson does a fantastic job at getting my Hair straight, but i have very fine hair and it's only a little bit wavy. So i would be a little bit hesitant to recommend this for someone with extremely curly or extremely thick hair, but definitely let us all know down below. If you have the dyson and you yourself have coarse or thick hair, let us know how these brush attachments work for straightening. Now, if you have bangs, you can probably relate and would agree that styling bangs can be extremely finicky now. What i have found as far as bangs just wanted to mention this really quick. So whenever i get a professional blowout, what they typically do is blow dry. My bangs first finish the rest of my hair, but i am like speedy gonzales when i blow dry my hair - i just don't have time for that. So what i do is simply blow dry all of my hair first and then come back to the bangs second. So these two attachments have been an absolute game changer when it comes to blow drying and styling my bangs. So sometimes i will re-wet them and i can simply go on with this product and go like this to dry them or i can use a blow dryer and have the heat come directly from the dryer. So not only do you have two different ways to blow dry, your bangs, but you also have a variety of different brushes to blow dry, the rest of your hair too. Now, as i mentioned earlier, i use this product every single day to blow dry. My hair and now that i've had it, i can't imagine using any other product to blow dry. My hair, i just find it not only blow dries my hair so quickly, but the amount of volume i get on. My very fine hair is actually pretty great. Now, on the flip side, if you are someone who is interested in the dyson, but you're really only looking for a product to curl your hair once in a great while, then it probably wouldn't be worth the investment now, on the other hand, if you curl your Hair frequently or you are looking for a product to give you immense volume that a traditional blow dryer and curling iron cannot give you, then i would recommend this product, so i feel like when it comes to all the different brush attachments and the actual blow drying Tool itself, i would say, that's pretty self-explanatory, but with these guys there definitely is a little bit of a learning curve. So i'm going to insert a few pictures, perhaps a few different clips. If i was able to save them from my previous filming days of showing you three different ways to use this dyson so before i show you the three different styles, there is one important factor i want to mention. I did not use any sort of styling products before during or after using the dyson and the reason i really want to make a point to point. That out is because i feel like regardless of what styling tool you use. If you go in and add a ton of mousse hairspray any wax products like that, i mean i can make my hair go from this to this very quickly, just from using hairspray, for example. But that's because i wanted to show you what my hair looks like directly after using the dyson with zero styling products. So just keep in mind that i did not use any sort of styling products. And, of course, once you add those the volume and the overall finished look would be much more than what you're about to see. So i'm going to show you three different looks, which include my straight hair. Just like this, my hair actually curled using the long barrel and the final look that you may not know about, there's actually a trick to create beach waves using these barrels. So for my straight hair and just the traditional blow drying, the first attachment i start off with is a round brush. Now i don't know about you guys, but i get a ton of frizzy hair and wavy hair around my forehead, just around my face in general. So i find when i go on with this attachment first specifically right around the hairline. This helps to prevent a lot of frizz. Then i will go in with the actual blow dryer to finish getting out any of the dampness. That'S left now some days. I will finish off using these brushes that are meant for straight hair. However, on most days where i want additional volume, i will actually finish off using the round brush again and i'm sure you guys are familiar with a round brush, but with the dyson you just pop it on and then, as i mentioned, i go around the perimeter. First and then i simply brush up like this until my hair is dry and also you can take the ends and hold this piece right here for a few seconds to make sure my hair is flipped in. I just can't see it when my hair flips out, so this is what my hair looks like after using the attachments that i just mentioned, using no products for a traditional blowout, again keep in mind. If i were to go in with any products, the volume would go from here to here. Alright, the next picture and or clip is going to be showing you what my hair looks like using the actual air wraps. Now here's the thing, even though i have fine hair, i have a lot of hair when i see a lot of these tutorials saying that they can completely curl their hair in 5 or 10 minutes. I honestly don't know how they do it. That is amazing, but for me i find the more time and the smaller pieces you take at a time the more volume, the bigger curls and the longer your curls will actually last so for me, if i'm taking a two or three inch section and what happens Is this product automatically sucks up the hair and no, it doesn't get caught like some of the other hot tools you may have used now. The one thing is, this is actually like super sonic blow drying technology. So once your hair is wrapped, don't just yank it out simply turn the product off. Then you can remove the tool without any sort of tangling. So, for example, if i'm taking two or three inch sections and curling my hair, it takes me a good hour. If not more to complete, so i wouldn't say that these air wraps are necessarily quicker when it comes to the actual curling portion in comparison to a curling iron per se. But i do prefer the final look, because you get so much more volume and my curls last for a couple days now when i said this takes me an hour or more for some people that might be pretty shocking and seem like a long time, but how I used to have to do it was blow dry, my hair completely straighten my hair and then go in and curl it now. Are you ready for my little secret with the dyson air wrap? So before i give away my secret, it is important to know that it's recommended when you are curling the hair with the air up to have the hair damp, but i actually found that following the instructions and curling the hair when it's damp, my curls simply did Not last so i've got two tricks for you. The first one is using olaplex number nine. Now this is actually a serum heat, protectant and basically styling product in one. This is an absolute holy grail product for me. So i remember reading about olaplex number nine, which is one of the newer editions that this has some sort of memory technology, meaning it's supposed to keep your hair in place. How you styled it longer, so i find this product doesn't make my hair greasy or oily. It'S a heat protectant, but it also helps to keep my hair exactly how i styled it, maybe not exactly but close to how i styled it for longer so first tip, i use olaplex number nine on my damp hair before i go in with any sort of Drying now i also like to use this product when my hair is completely done and dry, you can actually use this product both damp or dry. Now. My next tip, which i feel like is the most important is i actually go in and completely blow dry. My hair first and then i part my hair in four different sections and grab the first piece, so i actually keep a spray bottle in the bathroom full of water. So what i do is spray the piece i'm about to work on with water. Then go in and use the air wrap. Now i know it might sound like this is an extra step because i'm first going in and blow drying my hair, but i find that serves for several different purposes. First, a lot of folks notice that if they only use the airwrap no other drying beforehand, sometimes their hair can get a little bit frizzy, especially around the top or the crown. So i find actually blow drying my hair first with the round brush helps to prevent any frizz before i go in with this now after the piece has actually been wrapped and you let go, and let's imagine i have a little ringlet here. You can then go in with hairspray or any sort of styling products you prefer, but i actually find i don't prefer to go in piece by piece, adding different styling products, because that actually can cause my hair to get more frizzy. So i wait until my hair is completely curled and, as i mentioned, then i go back in with more olaplex number nine and do a little bit of scrunching or pull through. If it's a straightened look so if you have very long or very fine hair like me, i would definitely recommend giving it a try to blow dry. First then go in with the air wrap if you've noticed. You'Ve had some issues with having your curls last, so that is basically how i style using the dyson air up now. This is not a look that i typically do in the summer, just because it takes time and i get pretty hot in the summer - all right. The third and final look is how to get beach waves from the dyson, so this is actually a little bit easier than the actual curling method with the aira. So, instead of having the hair be pulled automatically up by the dyson, what you're going to do is grab your first piece of hair and instead of turning the dyson on to have it suck up the hair, keep it off put the hair under and wrap it Around like so once you have it wrapped hold the end, then turn it on hold it for 10 to 20 seconds, make sure you turn the cold shot on for 10 seconds and then let go after you turn it off of course, so i actually like styling. My hair both ways some days. I want my hair to be a little bit more curly, so i will go in and use it the traditional way other times. I want those beautiful loose beach waves and then i will go in like i just showed you now, when you're holding the hair wrapped around, just be careful if you do have it on the hot setting. Now these don't get as hot as a curling iron. As i mentioned, but they still get hot, so just be careful that you're not touching the actual barrel when it's on, so those are the three different styling methods. The last thing i want to talk about is maintenance and cleaning. So every dyson comes with this cleaning piece. It just looks like a ring with some velcro or some sort of material on the inside, so you will notice at the bottom of your machine this area right here. It will start to acrohara dust particles, all that good stuff. So here's what you do, you'll notice there is an opening in the ring here. So you simply slide it up and twist this back and forth until you have all or most of the dust removed. Now i am not going to vigorously do this right now, otherwise, i'm going to have dust all over and the great thing about the dyson is it lets. You know when it needs to be cleaned. There is a little light that will go on and off that you will see when it's on so make sure you clean the dyson as soon as you've. Seen that light pop on all right. I know that was a lot of information if you've enjoyed the video. So far or found it helpful, please don't forget to give it a big thumbs up alright, so overall thoughts. I definitely think the upgrade on the new dyson is worth it overall, i just feel like the quality is a little bit better. You also get more power and the actual blow drying unit. This has been very convenient to be able to control the airflow and, most importantly, i no longer have to pop on pop off pop on pop off. I simply turn the knob to change the direction of the curl. So overall, i'm super happy that dyson decided to do an upgrade. I have found the upgrades very useful and keep in mind these recommendations are solely based on the fact that i use this product. Every single day, i have very fine, very long hair and i do find the volume i get with the dyson. I just can't get with any other product. So just keep in mind. If you have the original and you're thinking about picking up the new, you could just pick up one or two of the barrels instead of the entire machine all right, so i think we covered everything the major differences between the two, how you can use the old Machine with the new barrels, let me know if you guys have any other questions down below all right. Well, i really hope all the information was helpful for you today and if you enjoyed the video, please don't forget to give it a big thumbs up. Thank you. So much for spending your time with me and i look forward to seeing you in my next video bye, guys.

missc5b: Great comparison video. Also the lid of the new case is lined with heatproof material and has replaced the separate heat mat.
