How I Style My Air Dried Fine Hair

I have fine, straight and limp hair, but it's also pretty fragile. This winter it's been breaking and was in need of some TLC, so my hairstylist challenged me to try not to apply heat to it for a while.

Here I'm sharing with you three techniques to style air-dried hair that require no heat at all.

I'll show you the mini-bun curl, the velcro roller and the foam roller, each one giving volume, texture and life to my fine hair without damaging it. Find out which one was my fave!

Hey everybody it's April from this kind of life, and you got me fresh out of the shower wet hair, because I want to talk to you guys about something that I have been challenged with this month. I have a really fine, limp hair and in the winter it is destroyed and with help of Vanessa yeah, this girl is saving my hair before the holiday. She was saying that I was getting breakage quite a bit and the reason for that is because I'm using all kinds of tools and when I say lots of tools, I mean like everything and even some of the hair ties that I'm using is actually breaking my Hair so she's helping me do like a boot camp on my hair in this video, I'm gon na show you three ways that I'm doing hairstyles without even using any heat on this hair. Now that I'm showered Tong let this dry and I'll come back and show you step 1 in case my hair is all dry. This is what it looks like when the air dries. Naturally, so you can see that it's kind of flat kind of flips at the bottom, and this isn't a look that I'm going for all the time. So what I'm going to show you first is how I do a curl putting my hair in mini buns. So what I'm gon na do is create all of these buns across my hair and let it sit, usually I sleep in it overnight and then take it out in the morning. It is all curly. So, let's get to making this money. Okay looks kinda like I will hung in a 90s music video. So normally I would sleep with this in my hair and then wake up with curls, I'm just gon na. Do it for like an hour or two and you'll come up with some like beachy waves. So one hour, all right, gon na be going look number two and it is the tried tested and true method. Velcro rollers, you can see. I use these a lot. I use the smaller ones because my hair is shoulder length and this is going to be a little time-consuming. It takes over an hour for you to get the kind of look that you're achieving. So my hair is freshly washed. It just finished air drying. So, let's put the velcro rollers in okay, so the idea with velcro rollers is to get volume. When you have fine straight hair like mine, you need a volume, so you're always going to grab clean pieces kind of brush it through your hair. Go as high as you can like that and roll it down. Sometimes I need some clips in there just to hold it or just take smaller pieces, because you'll get some lumps there just continue throughout your hair. One hour later - and I notice that I do look like a grandmother anyway, they're gon na come out. So let's take them out and see what we got okay, so you can see that velcro rollers really do the trick when it comes to getting big hair. So I mean it's not bad. The issue with me is that this won't last so, and it's also it's a little it's a little 80s for my liking, so I'm just gon na go in straighten it all out a little bit a little bit better. So now secure all right, here's my final one - and this is the big foam rollers Marty right pajamas, because I'm gon na put these in and then go to sleep. These Bend and stay in place. I'Ve used these once before. I had to try them out and the girl was a little bit strange, but I curl them under this time. Gon na curl them in, like ringlets tiles, are away from the face and see if that does anything different. So I'm ready to get these in also you'll notice that my hair is completely dry because with these they, the hair, won't dry if your hair is wet. So let's give these a go there. I just smoothed it out a little bit and put some hairspray and put some makeup fun as well, and that is the big foam rollers, so I got those from Walmart for $ 12. I think this was one of my favorites. I wasn't too sure about it. BelleDeJour224: Twisting it up at almost air dried all the way is the best way to get that awesome volume but be careful sleeping with hair twisted up can cause breakage close to the scalp. Satin pillow case is the best

Chanda Harkins: You and I have the same type of hair. Thanks for sharing! Imma need to order some rollers. :)

Nic: I just wanna say be careful with sleeping with rollers in, likewise with tying it up etc.. I was doing this for quite some time (same hair as yours).. For sure it's more gentle than heat, but it messes with hair at the root, just from the tugging, I notice it the most around my hairline, and I wasn't even tying it tightly, but it would come out rather than snap iykwim. My hair is the bane of my life lol I think I've got it looking nice, then 30seconds outside and it's flat to my head.. Put product in to keep it styled longer but it weighs it down or it just too strong/sticky, so any brushing and it will just snap or come away. I barely do anything to it so it still looks awful, but I'm at the point where I just wanna keep it attached to my head! Lol I wanna be 19 again with thick hair! X

NevaLvn: How were you securing the mini buns?

Anna Burns: have you tried braiding overnight?
