Hey guys, it's k, styx designs, welcome back to my channel. If you haven't already, please remember to hit subscribe, so i'm gon na hop right into it. Today, i'm going to do a roller set or roller wrap on my hair, i'm from louisville. We call it a roller wrap when you roll your hair and wrap it around your head. Thinking back to how styling methods have changed over time, just reflecting it kind of seems like the flat iron came out and we discovered we could curl our hair with the flat iron and we kind of abandoned old school rollers and, quite frankly, we probably damaged our Hair too kind of going flat iron crazy, so i'm going to take it back old, school and roll my hair, the one thing i'm a little cautious about is i'm i'm 13 weeks post relaxer. So back in the day when i roll my hair, i definitely wasn't stretching my relaxers 13 weeks, so the new growth is real. It is a whole afro under here. So we're going to see how that turns out, but that's actually a piece of why i want to roll my hair there's two things i want to achieve one. I want to stretch my new growth v on instagram. I can't think of what her instagram handle is i'll put it at the bottom of the screen, she's another young lady, with long healthy, relaxed hair, and she says that rolling. It really helps to stretch her new growth, which helps her stretch, her relaxers. So that's one of my goals. The second thing i want to accomplish is a heat free way to both style and dry, my hair, so i'm going to roll it sit under the hooded dryer without heat, be on the cool setting, and then i might even let it air dry i'm trying to Be optimistic, i think it'll turn out well, but let's see, if i can achieve an old school roller wrap with 13 weeks of new growth today happens to be a co-wash day, so i co-wash with aussie miracle moist conditioner. I then use an intense protein conditioner, a firm five in one followed by care care, humectal conditioner. I always follow an intense protein treatment with a moisturizing conditioner to build the moisture back up this protein treatment is so intense. I really only apply it a few times. A year as you can see, i am definitely getting my half gallon of water in for the day to style my roller set. I use the ors wrap set. Mousse you've seen me use this in my twist out video. It gives a really good soft hold. Now. I'M a little rusty. I haven't done this in a very long time. All i remember is that rolling. My hair definitely gave me a good arm workout, like here's. My stretch that i have to do with each roller. I'Ve got a starter roller here to help guide. My parting, i ensure my hair is really well saturated and, let's get started, i definitely could have used a little more mousse here, but again the parts don't have to be perfect: you're aiming for loose waves and a heat-free drying style, not perfection. I really put too much hair on that. Second roller, you don't want any one roller to have too much hair, because that will affect the drying time. That definitely could have been split into two, and i realized that and adjusted and that's perfectly okay, you'll occasionally need to move things. You'Ll occasionally need to adjust clips and that's perfectly normal. Ah, i don't want to overdo the mousse so occasionally in places where i know i've applied mousse already i'll, go back and apply a little water to dampen that area. You don't want the rollers to begin leaning to one side, so i tend to alternate the side that i place the clips on uh uh, uh uh. It'S definitely not simple to style hair. You can't see, but i want to give you a view from the back. I'M going to pause, so you can see the contrast between the two textures at 13 weeks, post relaxers, which is why i was a little nervous about this process. But hopefully things go as planned: uh uh, foreign uh, uh, uh uh. The fact that you and i are working here today so i'm back - i dried for about an hour on cool and air dried for a while just running around the house. So, let's see what we've got here and has anyone else tried a heatless roller wrap or roller set? Rather let me know i might be kind of old, maybe i'm not hip to the game like i think i am. I'M gon na be paying very close attention to my roots, i'm just looking at what type of curl i got with the gray, so i probably could have done purple probably could have done purple at the top and gray at the bottom. If i wanted a little bit more curl, so i'm taking notes they're so big, i might not even wrap this so curls are so loose. I thought i was gon na wrap it for y'all, i'm feeling my roots yeah. They it doesn't feel quite as crazy. I might add a little oil not too much, because i don't want to weigh it down. Oh ah, i look like cousinette. Okay now i can assist so my new growth is definitely standing up, but that might low-key be a good thing. It'S giving me like more body. I like it. Yes, wig, okay, definitely it's okay! Um! As a teachable moment. I would definitely use purple next time, they're kind of big new growth check. So you can see what i mean by standing up. It'S literally like afro straight. I'M inching closer and closer to relaxer day. I think i'm going to moisturize the new growth and wrap it around my head and hopefully that will take a little bit of the a little bit of the body out. Excuse me not take away the body but help it to lay down a little bit if you're relaxed. Let me know: does this sound like a heat-free way to dry and style your hair? That could be helpful if you haven't subscribed, make sure you hit that subscribe button until next time, bye, guys

Marie D: Personally, I love the volume/body of your hair. Its full and sexy. I really dont care for bone straight stick hair. One of the reasons why I dont like my relaxed hair until a couple of wks after application. New subbie. Thanks for sharing.

C: I am relaxed ‍♀️and I have fallen back in love with roller setting my hair. I love the fullness and silkiness. I feel it is a great way to get your old relaxed ends straight so you only have to apply a minimal amount of heat to the ends if you decide to flat iron/blow-dry for a sleeker look. Thanks for showing us your gorgeous results

HrhSophia TheFirst: Hi there I only do roller sets and I frequently just wear for the entire day using the purple rollers. I use the one with the covers and they stay great. I set with moisturizer, mousse, a bit of diluted setting lotion and oil for the ends. I stretch for 16 to 24 weeks and my curls last a week. My new growth is totally managed. I do not wrap all the time but that is not a problem. You did good!

Kayla W: Loved this! I’m going to definitely try this on my stretch. Thank you.

Arlene Majuste: Your hair is gorgeous! I recently went to back to relaxer and I am on this journey of growing my hair. Your channel is a gem! ❤️ How long do you stretch your relaxer?

Sandy Daniels: You have gorgeous hair! Praying to be blessed with beautiful hair like yours! Thank you for your tips! I must say I feel encouraged! You take the pressure off.

nf094e R E N É E: In NOLA we call it a roller wrap too. I live in Dallas and it's not common in salons. I get my hair flat ironed (straightened) at the salon but all I do is roller wrap at home. It makes my hair look very full and bouncy.

MARIE ST CYR: New subscribers here! And I love the result. I want to get a relaxer this weekend but I’m so afraid that my hair will fall off. Any advice?

The Coily Academic: Beautiful results!

Kulture Baby: Yes! I love old school roller sets

Kalisha J: I've done a rollerset once and I didn't care for the volume either but you've inspired me to try it again this week and maybe because I'm freshly relaxed the volume won't be so crazy. I thought it looked really good but I get it cause when you're that many weeks post you want a sleeker look.

Jacqueline Hilliard: You look gorgeous and your hair looks bomb like this, its giving me old Hollywood glamour meets 90s vibes

Cherry Rose': Yes, I definitely think roller setting is the best alternative I hair is screaming for!

Shay: your hair is so gorgeous! Absolutely stunning! You are a beautiful woman!

SayItLoud: Hi. What is your natural curl pattern? I'm 4B and I have the hardest time managing my new growth. My hair grows fast so I already wanna retouch by 5 weeks...I like to stretch to 12 and beyond but it's hard and annoying.

Jade Rose: I need a heat free way of drying my hair too. I have been using my boyfriend’s cheap hairdryer and I can feel that it’s been drying out my hair

Benitshi: I’m gonna try this

JonesesNashville: This came out fire!!!

Mahoro Eddyne: Yeeees I'm going to try this tomorrow thank you

Anthonia Orji: I’m from Louisiana we call it Roller wrap too

Esther Anderson: What type of hairdryer did you use? I use the bonnet but my hair isn't drying completely. I use the purple rollers and the really big pink ones.

Vibe with Van: LOVE!

Wayo Man: Did u leave it throughout the night?

Carla Angeline: Looks good

Luvita Q: Lmaooo @ yasss wig. Ya hair look bomb!
