Hey everyone welcome back to my channel today I have created this easy heatless overnight curls. I shared a picture on my Instagram of my voluminous hair and asked if you guys wanted a tutorial, and it was a resounding yes, so I've just washed my hair and I'm gon na sleep on this style and take it out in the morning. This is a great one to wear in the day we're on holiday because it keeps it out of your face and then you can remove the plats in the evening and wear your hair, curly so shampooed and conditioned, and I've applied my redkin anti snaps just to Keep my hair in great condition and keep it nice and long on top, I'm doing a side parting, as I always tend to wear it on the side and throughout the back, I'm parting, the hair through the center. Don'T worry about making it too neat because we are going to be sleeping on it, then I'm twisting one side out of the way, so it doesn't tangle up with the up side of my hair, while I black one side, so I'm gon na whiz through this Plat and then I'm actually gon na talk you through that other side. When I look back at the footage, it just was a little bit clearer and easy for me to describe the plat when I braided the other side. So you want to make sure your hair is still quite damp. You don't be too wet, though, because otherwise it won't dry overnight, and when you take your flat hair, it will still be damp. I already have a more in-depth tutorial on how to do a Dutch braid, which I will link on-screen for you, so I will run through what I'm doing, but you can watch that tutorial for more details. I'Ve sectioned off a small triangle and now I've parted that into three individual strands. I'M going to pass the right strand underneath the middle one and that's now the middle strand and now I'm taking the left strand and putting that behind the middle strand. So they swap - and that is basically the whole process you'll constantly put in the right one behind the middle strand. Each time you do that from now on, you're gon na pick up a small amount of hair to add to it from the scalp and then you're going to put the left one with a small amount of hair added to it behind the middle strand. So you're always taking the right strand with a small amount of hair from the scalp behind the middle strand and then you're, taking the left strand with a small amount added to that from the scalp and add in that behind the new middle strand. It can be a little bit tricky when you start the scalp, because these strands are quite thin. They only get thicker the further. You go down the slack because every time you're adding more hair to each of those strands, so each strand then becomes thicker, which makes it easy for you to hold what I love about. This look is the volume and the way to achieve that in this look? Is to make sure that, as you go along you're blowing out the sides of the braid, I also make sure I'm lifting the room at the very top. This prevents that root area laying flat. So when you take it out, it's got volume. It'S really important to do this as you go, because your hair is done. It'S gon na be harder for you to pull it the sides of the braid and for you to pull it the root. If you go too far down the braid, if your hair was dry, it would slide through the weave of the braid easier, but because it's damp, it's gon na, create friction. It'S you need to be really gentle with your hair, see don't cause any breakages here. You can see I'm very gently tugging at the root. This is ever so slightly lifting it and creating more bounce. Then I'm also continuing to tug at the sides of the braid, which creates a more blown out braid. It'S really important. The only tug at the very edges of each of these little sections, if you pull from the very center you're going to loosen the entire braid, I thought I would show you the back of how I braid my hair, just in case you're interested because, obviously I Know for some people it can be quite challenging, but obviously, if you keep the pattern in your head, then you can work out what you're doing it just takes a little bit practice. I'Ve been able to braid my hair since I was very young. So, for me, it comes very easily, but practice doesn't make perfect and remember every few weaves stop and blow out the sides of your braid. The amount you blow it out by will determine how much of the wave you have in your hair. You want to keep it relatively tight, because the looser is the more of a wave you'll get rather than a curl. Also the more braids you create the more curlier of a result. You have. I have long layers, so I have to bear in mind that my hair gets thinner towards the end, so I need to make sure it's not too tight as it gets towards the bottom. Otherwise it will be frizzy. So it's really just about finding balance that suits your hair and the stole that you've got if you're looking to create more of a beachy wave rather than a curl. I have the perfect tutorial, which I will link on-screen for you now at the ends of my hair. When I tie off with an elastic, I create a little loop with my hair so that they're not dead straight at the ends. So now I've created my Dutch braids, I'm ready to go to sleep okay, so it's the next morning at mesh consumer has a tiny bit fluffy from where I've been sleeping, but it has held its shape quite well. Considering so now, I can feel that my hair is completely dry, so I'm going to remove my clear elastics and I'm gon na carefully undo, both the braids. When you take apart each of your braids. You want to be really careful, because if you start pulling it, each strand, you're gon na make it fuzzy and we want to try and keep the hair as intact as possible. That'S going to give the type waves more of a cold look because they're going to be nice and crisp as opposed to looking fluffy and fuzzy. If your cuticle doesn't naturally lay quite flat - and you end up with a fluffy appearance to your head, then you can apply a serum or a product to your hair before you braid it for me, braiding. It just allows the cuticle to smooth out, especially once I've slept on my hair. It'S a lot softer, looking and smoother. This style is great. If you have quite fine hair, it's a great way to add some volume to your hair. If your hair is naturally quite thick and fluffy, it's a great way to tame it, depending on your hair, texture, length, thickness and density will determine how it looks you and I may not get an identical result, but it'll be very, very similar. I'M now going to lift the root with my fingers and just give the hair a very gentle shake if you go crazy, you'll ruin your curl, so be gentle with it. This would just break up your waves and create a little bit more volume. This is how my hair looks: root to tip the product that I like to use in my hair, to almost just keep it quite tame and stop the fluff, especially from going outside, is this product that I discovered by bumble and bumble. This is not sponsored. This is the UV protective dry oil finishing spray, so it's got a combination of coconut Argan, macadamia and sweet almond oils and that nourishes the hair. It'S a bit like using a serum, but it doesn't leave a film to your hair and you can apply it over and over again and it doesn't build up on the hair. I really really love, and that is it. That is how I've been achieving my voluminous heatless curls. What I love about this is that it looks really natural. It'S almost like my hair actually grows this curly when it doesn't. What do you guys think? Would you rock this look? Let me know in the comment section below please subscribe if you haven't already done so, if you missed last week's tutorial that will be on screen for you and don't forget, you can follow me outside of YouTube, and my social handles are on the screen thanks. So much for watching and I'll see you next week, bye

Brandee Michelle: Wow I’ve been doing this for years but I’ve never connected the dots between loosening the roots to get volume so my hair always comes out very flat. I’m gonna try this out!

ZabzeBee: Wow, the lift on the roots is what I've been missing. My hairs thick and long so braids are the easiest way to 'curl' my hair without major damage and hours of effort (though with the right tools it can be a breeze). Thanks for sharing lovely, so helpful. I've already practiced it on the kids, my turn tomorrow!

Melissa Ngai: The tip to pull the roots of the hair to add volume is so simple and smart. Its perfect.

Consciously Pure: This looks amazing! It looks so natural, totally like your hair would grow like this! I’ve done several different heatless curls but some of your tips are totally new to me so am super grateful for these and can’t wait to apply them :)

AshleyLynn918: That looks sooo good! Totally looks like your natural hair. Ugh I need to practice this braid.

LaneF: However I’ve never pulled out the braid and making it bigger. I tried it doing this and it made a BIG difference!

Leila J: Your hair is gorgeous!! Love this tutorial!

Hannah Keating: This is literally my go to look. I have naturally straight hair so I always braid it to get that natural curly look

san t: I'm in love with this channel. I did this braid and my hair looks fabulous! It was a little difficult cause I didn't know how to braid it like that so I was so happy I did it and will practice every day now so braiding will become easier and easier. Thank you so much for this!

Kavita Man: Ive just braided my hair as im really loving the no fuss crinkle/beachy wave look at the moment. Thanks to you I achieved it last week for the first time. Youre amazing and your hair is gorgeous

Georgia Allen: I just achieved a life-long goal..... I managed my first ever Dutch braid!!!!! I'm sooo chuffed right now! Thank you for clear and easy instructions. THE BEST 'how to' Dutch braid video I've ever seen.

mangolover: Yes! I’m braiding tonight❣️ Thank you for this great idea! I’ve also done this since I was little, but I’ve always been missing your key step of loosening the roots and the braids as you go. Your hair is gorgeous❣️❣️❣️

M Monty: Looks so natural and defined in your hair! I recently learned dutch braiding for exactly that outcome. I will definetly try it your way thanks for the good Video :)

مريم العوضي: I loved this video. Simple, informative, actually achievable and a gorgeous result! Thanks! I’m definitely buying that B&B spray it sounds awesome

Thainá Freitas: Ficou muito lindo, amei

TRLB: Love this. I have bone straight hair so this is a perfect way to try to get curls that will actually last. will be trying this!

Amy Navarro: Been doing this for the past 2 years! I love the way it makes my hair so curly (:

ash: tried this last night. amazing! it’ll save my hair from so much damage

Konstantina G.: I've been doing this method for 3 years. It is my go to hairstyle. Y'all you should try it and if you don't know how to Dutch braid try to learn it's not that difficult. Have a nice day ❤❤❤

lindsey s: I LOVE this video. This is exactly how I get lazy curls in the morning if I know I'm gonna be in a rush. But I do have a question — do you find that there is a difference in the final result between doing a French braid and a Dutch braid? I've always done French braids overnight, but I'm wondering if I would get different/better results if I did Dutch braids instead? Thanks so much!

CallMeCourt: I can’t braid my hair to save my life, but I’m definitely getting me some of that Bumble & Bumble spray.

Sass 83: Yes I'm living for this. Going on holidays in 2 weeks and I'm goingto practice every day. Thanks Shonagh x

Naturally Jordan 🤍: Cute look girl! Love it ♥️

Leah Marriott: Wow this turned out beautifully I need to try this

LaneF: I love doing this! It looks great on you

Nancy Shadowens: Love this look. And so simple and easy.

Daiyanna Infante: Soo excited to try this! ❤️

Nisha Jassal: I’ve tried loads of heat less techniques. My fave is dividing the hair in two big sections. Top half and bottom half. For the top half, bring the hair to the front of ur forehead and divide in half. Then literally jus wrap around each other like a twist. Use hair pins to attach back to your head. Do the same for the bottom section. Pin. And sleep. Wake up with such volume!

The Saucy Bookshelf: Looks beautiful!! I’ve been plaiting my hair at night as I’m disabled it’s easier to sleep on plaits to let them my dry than have crazy hair the next day. I will definitely try blowing them out a bit xx

Shelby Feld: Love It! So perfect for summer. I'll be trying this tonight

Crystina Pena: My hair is naturally like that ☺️ I feel so blessed

Alejandra Martel: Oh my goodness! This is true I've been doing this for so long its my favorite!

SpazyAzy's Art: Great video! Love it!

Paula Darău: I tried it and it works good on my hair, my husband said I look beautiful , thank you for the video ❤❤❤

Sarah Shearman: It's so satisfying when you undo the plaits in the morning and it's really wavy x

liliya ♥: Loved the video ❤️ Definitely gonna try it out tonight!

Bruna Helena: I had never been able to do dutch braids until I watched this video, it was very well explained, thanks!

Patricia Unzue: This is perfect! I'll try this for sure, my blow dryer just broke and, also, I want my curls back Hope it works with my short hair

emilia M: Looks lovely on you, my hair comes out wavy rather than curly when I braid and leave it over night x

Cheryl Ann Natividad: I've used the Redken anti- snap for years and noticed that my hair will naturally air dry a lot curlier than if I air dry it without. Love that stuff

Lydia Harriss: I’m fed up of my hair and need to try something new before I go mental. This was a really good tutorial and I want wait to give it a go.

Hayley Moran: Love your videos I love how you are natural and not over powering like some youtubers with the posing and filters etc. Plus your explanations are easy to follow xxx

Elisabeth: Wow this is gorgeous on you!! So excited to try it. Subscribed!

Kirsti Short: I've always called the Dutch braid an inside out braid, just a French braid but inside out! This is how I make my hair super curly too, I have a natural curl to it already tho.

Sherrelyn N: Oh yeah I would “rock this look” Thanks looks Gorgeous

Kaila Smith: I love this method I have been doing it for a while!

Gizmo Gils: I learned to make braids from you, thank you

Dark Angel: As soon as my hair is long again I’m totally doing this(yes I regret cutting it everyday)

Carol Blackley: I say this every time you do a hair tutorial, I wish I kept my hair long this look is stunning Shonagh. Have you always had long hair?

MaKayla Boren: I can testify that this really does work! Its magic!

Linda Raka: My arms hurt even when I shampoo but thank you ❤️

yhadira: I’ve been doing this hairstyle for many months now and I find it to work best for me since I have really thick and frizzy hair. Also if you use mousse after you take the braids apart would the curls still stay?

gemisbestgal 10: Thank you this tutorial helped

aimee: you’re so naturally beautiful

Celia Fodor: I’m so gonna try this!

Sabrina Bailey: I have naturally curly hair and I do this to my hair to achieve heartless waves. I use curl cream to prevent frizz before I braid and then I put oil or leave in conditioner on my hands when I unbraided to keep my hair from getting frizzy.

PhoFighter: How long does this last for you? I have such a hard time with my hair staying curly like that. Idk what to do since my hair is so stick straight. I’ve tried loads of hairspray and nothing works to keep it this way.

Micaeli A.: Really excellent! I was sooo tired to make with all the hair clip (barrette in French ) and it was so painful to see that it really don't work to me. I will definitely testing it!!! Thank you! Bisous from France (sorry for the English)

Rachel Makeup Tyler: Beautiful!!!! Going to try this tonight

Ming Ming: Is this a relatively safe braid to sleep in all the time? If not, any recommendations that have similar wave results? I love your vids btw

Holly Crisp: So pretty! Definitely going to try this when I go to America on Tuesdayx

Cass F: Your hair looks gorgeous!

Nivian Skoumpourdi: This is a very good technique, thanks girl for the advice..I would also like to ask something else..how do you maintain the curls the days after this ..do you grab them overnight or you rebraid it??

lili: Question, how long have you been growing out your hair? I’ve been growing my hair out for two years and it’s only down to my elbows. Any tips?

Sherry: I could watch your videos all day and never get bored, I love your voice, it's very soothing and friendly (where I work...it just isnt that way with anyone lol) You are a very beautiful woman, and...whats the word I'm looking for....graceful and not in love with yourself lol...a lot of "beauty" videos I have watched over the last 3 years....maybe less. It is just so unbelievably easy to pin the narcissists. Your videos are very refreshing. God Bless

Bonnie Abadi: Beautiful....love it

Pamela Romita: Bravissima complimenti ...spero un giorno di diventare brava anche io Bellissime le trecce e anche il dopo favoloso

MonicBare Face: What do you use or do to maintain your hair long?

Donna puckett: very pretty!

Ally Hvis: Wow, I'm gonna try this!!

Annabella Joe: It looks sooo cute! Could you make a video for people with medium length hair because i don't think my hair would fit in the braids.

Sylwia Zukowska: You look better than a model, from toe to hair

*TrIpPy*BuNnY*YuM*YuM*: GORGEOUS! I have long thin hair.. I've been taking theses gummies for skin, nails, hair, and now I got way more hair and it's super long, does that matter? Cause I've tried to get my hair like this.. But I can't French braid..

Sophie Kowalewsky: Love this!!

Srb: I love your natural hair colour xx

Estelle Kendall: Shona your hair is effortlessly beautiful

s1eepymomma: I used to curl my hair this way but over time, it’s become immune to braiding So now I have to use pipe cleaners if I want curls that will stay ‍♀️

Deena Younis: Hey, great video!!! Uhm, i have a weird question, every time I try braiding my hair, i get sore arms..so sore that it forces me to stop! Does it ever happen to you? Maybe its because I'm new to it?

Tammy Lam: I watched both the videos on making heatless waves with a single dutch braid and double dutch braids. I'm curious which you prefer, and why?

Dani Levitt: I have, from what i can tell via ur volg: same hair. Texture length thickness & color. My hair is naturally wavy to curly by back roots. Tendency to frizz. The natural wave/curl left alone never dries even. Or the same day to day. So i either have to straighten. Then curl or wave. I'm sure you get it. Annoying. I gave been trying to find ways to set my hair overnight for years. Never works. Ur video explained what I've been doing wrong. I go too tight. I never considered lose single no pand braid at crown, blowing out just my face framing pieces. Like you , i havd lots of hair , but each strand is thin. I have decided that is because my hair grows unbelievably fast. Wonder if your's dies as well? I am about to wash my hair. Today i am going to go for the lose beachy wave tutorial. In 3 days the Dutch braid to get even curls without the heat. That will be my challage. I have never been good at doing anything but a standard braid on my own hair. Plus im 8 months in fron major hand surgery on dominant hand. Lol. So only have about 75% mobility. Extra challenge. Good therapy tho:) summer NY moist heat, always a challenge to get non friz easy wear hair holds first days. Lucky for m3, may be tru 4 u too, my hair holds both straight & waves ,curls as long as i want. I am going to explore all the products. I have so many. With my texture leave in conditioners, friz control, dry shampoo ,i have yet to find perfect products dont add weight or residue. Not often i find tutorials done by someone with MY HAIR ! I am very excited. Subscribing for sure. Let yoy know how it turns out. Look forward to ur other tutorials. SO ECSTATIC TO HAVE FOUND HAIR VOLGGER W/MY HAIR!! Haven't checked ur other videos; curious to c if u cut ur hair urself like i do & color it. Thank you! Now I'm going to shop those products!!! Be safe & healthy. Keep vlogging plsssssss. My hair. My skin tone too!

LockWould: God I wish I didn't had ridiculously thick and frizzy hair! Mine would never come out like this

Zuzana Andrášová: Perfect, thanks

Lol Moi: i have this kinda hair naturally, one day my ex bestfriends come and they both have these kinda curls, then everyone is like "omg love your hairstyle omg" and im like, i have always had this kinda hair, and my ex bestfriends always made fun of my hair..

M A R Y C A I T L Y N: SO glad I found this video! subscribed!

Hannah Bridgman: Instead of using elastics I used scrunchies to minimize breakage!
