How To Diffuse Your Wavy Hair Without Frizz!

products: https://www.sophiemariegraf.com/hair-c...

This is how I diffuse my hair WITHOUT causing a ton of frizz.

Seriously the first time I diffused my hair looked like a MESS. I didn't understand what techniques work best on fine hair, and I was using nearly enough product.

#wavyhair #diffuser #wavyhairroutine #wavyhairtips #shorts #frizzfreewaves #diffusingtips

So i used to think i had straight hair, but about two and a half months ago i realized it was actually wavy. Here'S how i diffuse my hair without looking like i was struck by lightening, starting with a lightweight mousse. I apply this all over my hair, avoiding my roots similar to gel mousse is a hold product, except it's a lot lighter. This will form a cast on my hair, which prevents frizz moving on to diffusing, i always diffuse, with cold air. I start by hover diffusing until a cast begins to form sitting down, because this can take a while. This helps a frizz free cast form around each wave. Then, with the diffuser off, i gather sections of my hair into the bowl turn it on hold it up. There for 30 seconds and slowly take it down with the diffuser off. This is called pixie diffusing and since air is only blowing once the hair is in the bowl, it helps reduce flyaways and frizz, and i do that until cast fully forms. My hair looks wet, but it's actually dry and although it feels hard right now we're gon na scrunch it out taking a hair oil, i then go through and scrunch out the crunch, leaving me with super soft frizz free waves that last for days hope this helped

Chiquitaaa: As a blk women that has to deal w hair discrimination, it’s interesting to me to see how western beauty standards effect most women, regardless of race . I’ve seen this “trend” of white women finding out their hair is actually wavy or curly after treating it like it should be straight for most of their lives . Curls & waves are beautiful & im glad more of us are embracing that !

Hannah Landkammer: People saying her hair is straight there's more than just straight and curly. There's so many different textures of hair. Don't invalidate a hair type just because you aren't familiar with it.

Jen Elizabeth: Okay.. so I did this yesterday morning, and to be completely honest, I didn’t see much of a difference and had wrote it off as just not working for me and worth the time… BUT! That all changed this morning when I woke up. I’ve never had my hair hold any volume over night.. no matter how I try to sleep with it. It’s always flat, tangled, and my curls look like they’ve never seen life before. I woke up this morning to really great hair… it just needed a tiny touch up.. so that’s a win for me! I appreciate the hair hack!

coco0503: Girl I just tried this and oh my god the results are gorgeous. I’ve been trying to find a method that suits my hair type and isn’t damaging, and this worked so beautifully! I accidentally messed up when diffusing by not turning off the blow dryer when pulling it away from my hair, so it’s a little bit frizzy, but it still worked so well despite my mistake! Tysm for this I am genuinely so excited ❤️❤️❤️

Ananya Trivedi: she just sounds like she has her life together

Sherry P: Yesss!!! This is what hair dressers are lazy to do...ALL they know to do is burn n fry your hair straight!!! Those of us with the prettiest waves and curls are robbed!!! Love it and THANK YOU!!!

Sarah Rose: I just want to say. It’s been two weeks since starting taking care of my waves and it has made such a huge difference in my hair. I didn’t have time to do this after the last time i washed my hair, but the way my natural diffused hair has gotten so much more healthy and less frizzy that I was confident enough to leave it down without using a hot tool (which never happened before this). Very thankful this came across on my feed.

Rose Sweeney: I can completely relate to this. For 30 years I thought that I just had straight, yet very frizzy, dry ugly hair until I found a similar method to this. It was like a miracle, I suddenly had beautiful wavy hair.

Sarah Rose: I just want to say. It’s been two weeks since starting taking care of my waves and it has made such a huge difference in my hair. I didn’t have time to do this after the last time i washed my hair, but the way my natural non-diffused hair has gotten so much more healthy and less frizzy that I was confident enough to leave it down without using a hot tool (which never happened before this). Very thankful this came across on my feed.

Alexandra Vazquez: Thank you for this! I was having troubles defining my curls, but your tutorial will help me!

Heather Hawks: Thank you for validating the wavy hair experience…. And to everyone saying she has straight hair- thank you for demonstrating the other side of the wavy hair experience which basically consists of people trying to gaslight you into believing you have straight hair, and that if you just treat it like it has no texture it will fall in line and behave as though it has no texture. Spoiler- treating textured hair like it’s not textured leads to frizz and depression. Feel free to disregard bad advice from people who want to invalidate your experience.

Drea: The wavyness of your hair looks exactly like my hair but I have a huge problem with frizz I’m definitely gonna try this!!

Dojan5: This does help! I’ve been applying the oil and diffusing incorrectly. Thank you so much! ❤️

Madison Slatkinson: I have that mousse and it’s absolutely amazing it works literal wonders. When I want my hair to be curly but I can’t be bothered to curl it I put in French braids really tight and put the mousse in. Next day take the braids out and my hair is so bouncy and curly!!!

Elizabeth: Finally! Thank you for the tips, I’ve struggled with my wavy hair all my life, and never wanted to damage it by using excess heat and styling. I would love to try this! Also, thank you for being so detailed in the process!

Suga Foot: This will work on my natural, 4b hair!!!! Thank you sis!

Taylor X: My moms been doing this hairstyle longer than I can remember and she showed me this technique a few years ago. it’s still my fav way to get curly hair to this day

Hanifa Heljić: This has to be the prettiest hair ive seen!!

TabFP crea: This is so cool! I turned out to have curly hair once I cut it (it was almost two feet long, lol) and ever since then I've been struggling, but I'll definitely try this :)

Callisto: Thank you!! I needed this, I have naturally curly hair, so I will most definitely use this technique to help prevent frizz. I actually use my own ways, but this makes it look like your hair is much more lively, and a little less frizzy than the way I use.

D Hemp: That John Freida collection is the bomb for my curls! Specifically the styling foam!

Silver V: Omg same, I found out not too long ago my hair is very wavy, I use to have heavy curls as a baby but since middle school I've basically been frying my hair. I havent had the time to experiment with my natural hair so this definitely helps

Sophie Marie: My FULL bowl method + diffusing routine is now posted Just a few notes: This is about a specific technique that helps with frizz. Also for people saying that my hair is straight, my hair dries wavy with or without this and with or without product. When I thought I had "straight" hair, I was brushing it out so much and not caring for it so it was just very puffy. If your hair gets puffy when you brush, its because you have some natural texture there :) I have all of my products linked on my website! Prose shampoo/conditioner/curl cream, John Frieda mousse, OUAI hair oil!

BendeyWendy: I would desperately love to do this with my hair. It has a gorgeous "surfer chick" wave when it's wet, but then is just a frizz once I dry it. But I'm lazy and just put it in a pony tail.

XmoX X: This is actually the most informative tutorial I’ve seen. Not one ever tells you about the anti frizz cast part. I’ve always just defused with hot air and wondered y it didn’t work. THANK YOUUU!!!

Bird: Can’t wait for my hair to get longer to try this. I was the same when I was young and my hair was long, I just didn’t take care of it and brushed it into one massive poof! Glad I’m growing it out again haha.

Nora: Thank you for not being one of those people who is like “I thought I had straight hair but it’s actually curly”- no. If your hair looks straight with no product it is straight. You might be able to put in waves with products and diffusing but your hair isn’t curly unless you actually make the curls. And curls are ringlets not waves!!

Life Is weird: “Scrunch out the crunch” is going to be my new life motto Commenting so I can get back here easier

hi ocean: Ahhh thank you for the tip about using cold air to create a cast!! Makes so much sense

Sarah Rose: I have always had wavy hair and I used a lot of heat and bleach on it over my lifetime. I have recently dyed my hair back to its natural color, but I lost my natural waves. Now when I try to leave my hair natural it is so frizzy and looks horrible. I love my natural waves but never wore it down or just immediately flattened or curled it with a iron. When I saw this video, it gave me a reason to love my hair again. I went out and bought everything I needed and did this for the first time just now. My hair is so soft and wavy again! I love it so much!! Thank you!!!

phr, ase: I have this exact same type of hair (or at least our hair looks identical when wet)! My whole life I thought it was pin-straight but whenever I scrunch it up after a shower it goes super wavy. It always straightens out when it dries though bc could never even think of asking my mum for mousse or a diffuser ur hair looks absolutely amazing, I hope someday mine can look like yours

SAMC: Animator: I’ve been doing my hair this way for years but I didn’t realize there was a “cast” thingy happening. I learned so much here, very cool!

Erica Sheppard: Love it!! I have a similar texture. I always thought “it’s not curly but it’s definitely not straight—what is THIS??” I will try your method, as it is different from what I tried before. I didn’t do the casting. Thank you!!!

epictetus has epic tiddiez: This is actually the easiest routine I've seen! Im hoping doing this will make me hate my curls less

Bot: Exactly what I started to do after I damaged my hair for years. Now I have my natural curls back

Ashley Cajamarca: I also have wavy hair and it gets so frizzy, in the mornings all I can do is brush my hair so the waves loosen apart and it leaves me with frizzy and puffy hair. This helps so much so now I can get that nice wavy hair look

Antonia Butolo: This worked so well! I have straight hair but I tried aniways! At first it didn t work that well but then I used a stronger styling foam and it was so perfect❤

Alexa Mandes: Wow that looks gorgeous! I can’t believe you didn’t use a curling iron to get those perfect curls! Even with naturally wavy hair. Very impressive!

Olga Emelianova: It’s the first time that I remembered the routine. I’ll try it out on my daughter, her hair is exactly wavy and not curly. Thanks for sharing!

kaila dellapenna: "just brush your hair" they said... "it will look fine" they said... POOF! INSTANT Q-TIP! *A REAL FRIEND-"So I thought I had straight hair ..." lol I have wavy hair too an it took me awhile to figure that out growing up because all I ever heard of was straight or curly hair, there really is so many other textures!! Another thing I noticed that really helps mine is to actually wash with semi warm/cold water an brushing it AS SOON as I get done bathing. I also keep a spray bottle I can fill with cold water because the second my hair starts to dry, its A LOT harder to work with. LITTLE TIP- If you got waves an you are out of moose or gel, a quick fix, pour some salt into a clean spray bottle an mix it in hot water. Let it cool, an spray it over semi dried hair untl its soaked again, an brush it. Do that thing where your basically head banging so its not slicked up against your head, an let it air dry. Pretty much same concept as real "beach waves" wavy hair gets from you being in the ocean.

GifttOfGabb: I REALLY appreciate the fact that you know the difference between a wave and a curl

Dakota Gordon: I have the biggest issue with frizz in my hair, can't wait to try this!!

Kenna: It's great that I'm finding all these hair videos right after I got a pixie cut. Real helpful.

aryabluebird1: That's the exact same mousse I have so it's awesome to finally see one person use the same stuff I have. Just curious - do you also use leave in conditioner or curl creams or just the mousse?

Someone Ig?: I feel you on this. I have have like curly/wavy hair. And some days it just looks like I curled it. And all my life people have always thought I was lying. So glad people actually believe me now. (I used to straighten my hair a BUNCH)

phaephoo: I’ve had curly/wavy hair depending on the effort since middle school. I had curls as a baby but in elementary school my hair definitely was more straight and then started to curl again in like 7th grade. I had to cut my hair off a couple months ago but I’m definitely saving this for when I grow out my hair again!

BloomInTheStars: Thank you for teaching me how to do something nice & properly on my straight looking, semi wavy hair. genuine appreciation bc your video and way of talking is easy to understand. Idky other tutorials really don't do it for me

pamela honey: when i was younger i had straight hair with a slight wave, but as i’ve gotten older it’s gotten progressively more wavy until sometime last spring/summer it just went into loose curls. i’m assuming it’s genetic cuz the same thing happened to my mom when she was my age. i didn’t realize my hair went curly until i was getting it cut and i said something about wavy hair and the lady looked at me and went “….girl you have curly hair” and i said “…oh okay” and so anyway thanks for posting your whole process with the diffuser, i’m still trying to figure out how to properly care for curlyish hair lol

Love, C: Okay, I have the exact same hair texture so I gotta ask, have you ever dealt with hair looking like it’s wet when you air dry it because you didn’t brush it out beforehand?? I find that it doesn’t take long to get greasy (like by the next day) when it dries that way. The curls are more defined and shiny but yeah :( maybe I need a diffuser idk

Crafty Monkey: My hair is wavy (loads think it's curly but it's not) and it is supa frizzy after I hair dry it. But it settles down pretty quickly, which is why a few hours later it looks like I curled my hair to make it wavy. Took me to wet my hair fully for some of the other girls in my class to believe that I have natural wavy hair (during camp). Thanks for the tip though

Ashlee C: Thanks!! Just got my first blow dryer with the diffuser today. I can already tell a difference but these tips help more!

Llyev Aleandre: Yaaaaaaay I love that's there's more n more people realizing their hair is actually wavy and now there's more n more new products out there for that cuz this shyt was essentially none existent a decade or so ago unless it was in ethnic hair care which was still rare too. At least where I live

Hutchyyy: Thank you for this. I have very frizzy/curly but lightweight hair. Every method I have used to try and maintain my curls leaves my hair looking more greasy than it was before I washed it. Gonna try this method out

Locket: Okay, so I discovered my hair was probably wavy quite a while back, and nothing I tried has worked. I tried this today, making due with what I had on hand, and my hair has never looked so nice with any of these methods! Gonna add a touch of leave in conditioner next time to help with tangles, but WOW! This actually works! And it’s so much easier than other methods I’ve used! Gonna get some products actually meant for this and not the old stuff I had laying around (the oil I had was not lightweight, and my hair still looks super pretty!)

Emmy Julianne: I’ve ALWAYS STRUGGLED with this part of the CGM bc of that damn crunch!!!! Thank you!! I need to wash today so I’m going to try this out. Thank you

Aurora •: Gorgeous! Your hair looks so healthy and smooth!

mikacore ★: i've been doing a similar thing w my diffuser but with miss jessie's feather soft curls instead of mousse and hask hair oil and it's helped a lot! my hair still gets frizzy and definitely doesn't look THAT good lol but i don't think mine is as wavy anyway and im cursed with constantly wanting to bleach n dye my hair

Cassie Connell: This might actually be the best hair hack I’ve seen! This might actually work for my hair! I cannot wait to try this!!!!

Prince Sam: I do have slightly wavy hair. But I can NEVER put in so much effort to define those waves. I just wash and either let them air dry or use the dryer on cold setting. After a while they wave up on their own. Sometimes the waves are so defined(naturally) that I have people ask me if I had curled them

sapphics for socialism, baby!: Oh wow we have the exact same hair type!! I also thought my hair was straight for so long I'll defo try this since my hair has always been so frizzy no matter what

paola: thank you!!!! ive been looking for a video that explains in detail and easily how to take care of curls after washing them and ive finally found your video! perfect!! thank you so much

Momof2: Do you do this every day, or every few days? Beginner to wavy hair. I know I have it, but I have never been able to make it stay, as I have super fine, yet super thick hair. Thank you!

No Just No: Thank you for seeing the difference between curly and wavy hair!

Fawn Lynn: I have wavy hair that will get curly with product assistance so I’m sure this would work - it currently gets frizzy on me though so do I need to hydrate it first? Also, what diffuser do you use? I love the size of it! ❤️

Bethany Lovelace: I tried this on my hair just a few minutes ago and omg i knew my hair was kinda curly but dang! Also a side note my hands were so dry that they almost sucked up all the hair oil i was using lol

Marbella Delgado: Girl you literally just saved my waves✨

Holly Conley: I’ve always had curly hair but it’s been straight forever and I’m gonna start making it be natural finally

White Paper: I'm a short-haired dude with curly and wavy hair, and it's quite a challenge to make it look decent. Those textures look so fluffy and good. I hope one day mine will look as good when it gets longer.

Jinin Berry: This is the best curly hair routine I've seen. I follow so many cgm stuff because my kid has curly hair and I have no idea how to style it. Thank you!

Ashley Marie: OMG YES! I just found out my hair is wavy too and after decades of thinking it’s straight, I am literally LOST.

Janet B: WOOW I’m trying for sure, thank you!!!

Shelley Allison: Absolutely beautiful! I'm gonna try it.

becky ellersick: I didn't know that I have curly hair till about 2 years ago. My hair has always been frizzy and kinda wavy till I started using this frizz control stuff that makes my hair not frizzy. Ever since then I've had really nice curls and I'm glad I found stuff that works.

Dominic Brooks: I love this video, perfectly informed, and she’s bloody gorgeous!

Annie Lynn: Never knew my “frizz” was waves (and damage let’s be real) until I got a shitty version of this result. Wish me luck in my year of ditching bleach and irons so my hair will be healthy enough to wear my natural texture!

Mae: I’ve been thinking I, too, have wavy hair. It’s SO WAVY when wet but gets these big, what my friend calls “princess waves”, when dry. Maybe I’ll try this and see what happens

Lela Vic: I always thought my whole life that I have straight hair and recently I realised it’s wavy so now this is helping so much as I still don’t really know what to do with it haha

Salon Shear Brilliance LLC: Awesome hairstyle love watching your videos! it’s helping me get better at what I do!

Micaela Hernandez: I also just recently found out I have wavy hair. I too use this method but instead of using mousse I use Miss Jessies pillow soft curls, it’s leave my waves nicely and smells amazing

Hana G: Super helpful and informative, thank you for the details Great video to the point

Peachiyaa: Ugh I just love it when white ppl figure out they can have wavy to curly hair. I’m mixed Mexican n black so I have curly curly hair. And I’d like that take this moment as a psa. ITS OKAY TO HAVE FRIZZ. ofc she’s doing amazing slay love it if you can prevent it and you rather it that way wonderful not taking abt that. But if you have a different texture and you can’t beat the frizz it’s okay embrace it. My hair 100% of the time is lookin like a cloud frizzy and big. AND IT LOOKS GREAT. So if you have frizz you can’t beat EMBRACE IT BABES. All textured hair is beautiful remember that <3

sneader teader: THANK YOU FOR SAYING WAVES NOT CURLS IT SHOWS THAT YOUR EDUCATED AND KNOW THE DIFFERENCE SO THANK YOU AND YOUR HAIR LOOKS AMAZING

AnOtHeR dAy AnOtHeR sLaY: This actually happened to me my hair was pretty straight but once I got older it started becomes wavy frizzy and knotty lol we are still experimenting with products seeing wich is the best anyways that’s the story of my hair

Monica B: FUN FACT! Every four to seven years your hair cycles out and new growth starts. So you probably did have straight hair at some point and then over time it’s become wavy. It can potentially change again every several years.

My Heart Will Stop in Joy: My hair has been so uncooperative lately, so I'm taking note of all your tips, maybe it'll help, thanks!

singergrrl77: That does!! Thank you. I have wavy hair and sometimes I like to wear it wavy but it gets so frizzy glad to know about this different style of mousse

Amra O: Woah your hair looks amazing!!! I love it

Jo McC: Your hair is STUNNING! The color, wave, texture etc!

While Being Quarantine: Omg thank you so much I've always struggled with my hair. I'm going to try this tonight I'm really excited.

No shoe Bri: As a person with very curly hair, moose and aussies curl cream helps keep my frizz away and my hair detained!

jem_minecraft: I love how you explain what you are doing and why you do it

Gosick: I thought I had straight hair but I've always noticed when my hair air dries I have the "S" shape but throughout the day it doesn't completely go back to being straight it looks more like a stretched out "S" shape. I now braid my hair before I sleep and every time I wake up the waves last all throughout the day until 2 days later. So now I'm confused as to what hair type I have Edit: I only say this because I've been seeing so many comments that straight hair can't hold a perfect curl or wavy so now I'm here thinking I could possibly have wavy hair. My mom thinks she has straight hair too but she always has these wavy patterns in ther hair. The only sibling I have that has straight, fine hair is my older sister.

Taylor S: I always hated the crunchy feeling so I thought it wasn't for me. I never knew that there was a solution!!

Infrared1967: Nice! In my later 50s I finally discovered how to shape my wavy hair. Learned something new here.

J M: Those waves look great! I need to try this. Thanks!

Amanda Dixson: I usually just put Aunt Jackie's curl custard in my hair after a shower, then I wrap it in a silk scarf and put a Bonnet on to sleep; allowing it to dry, and when I take it out of the scarf and bonnet, my hair is shiney, pliable and frizz free full of form.

Aldís Tanja: Omg Thank you sooo much!! I have a really wavy hair and had never found a technique that worked for me until Saw this short

Quiet: Very pretty! I wish I could find the motivation to make myself look nice like that im impressed

Arizona Rangers hat: This is the only hair tutorial I’ve seen that looks like it’ll work for me

Gabby Medrano: Ugh I saved me. I just realized that I have waves too and they came out looking frizzy the first time I tried it. Thanks!
