Sleek Everyday Low Bun | Relaxed Hair

Hey guys! In this video I share with you my "everyday" low bun protective style. In this video I'm 10 weeks post relaxer. So it's a perfect style for when I'm stretching my relaxers.

I wear this protective style quite often as it has helped to retain moisture and length in my hair. Not to mention, it's super easy!

Hope you enjoy!

Hey guys welcome back to my channel in today's video I'll, be sharing with you exactly how I do my everyday button right now. My hair is unwashed and I'm about ten weeks post relaxer. So I have a lot of new growth. So now I'm gon na take some water and just lightly mist, my hair, all throughout this way, my hair remains hydrated, as I, as I wear my protective style throughout the day, and it's just easier to manipulate prior to styling. I just find that my hair responds better and it's just more manageable, so I spritz it all throughout and I just kind of work it through and now I'm gon na moisturize my hair with the oil moisturizer from karekare, and this is a water-based moisturizer. It'S kind of like a hair milk, it's quite fake and a little bit goes a long way plus it smells so good. So now I'm just gon na work it through from my ends going all the way up and I'll just you know just rake it through with my fingers and kind of just finger detangle as I go through my hair, and you guys know me, I always work In sections I always ensure that every area of my hair is moisturized, so I always work in small sections. I'M just taking whatever product is remaining any residue, that's on my hands and I'm just kind of working it through and ensuring that every area is covered. So I typically protect this style. I wanted to say about 90 to 95 percent of the time, and protective styling has been a key role in me, retaining length and preserving the quality and the integrity of my hair from the beginning of my hair journey, and I always switch it up. So I don't always do a low bun. I do high buns low buns, whatever it is, but I always ensure that my ends are tucked away. That way. I can maintain the link that I have and you know not get a setback, but it's important to know your hair and know what works for you. So now I'm gon na seal with the Caracara essential oils, and we all know that sealing is an important part in locking in moisture. So I'm going to work that, through my hair from the ends all the way up and that way my hair remains moist and shiny. So now I'm gon na take my fine-tooth comb and I'm gon na do a middle part. That'S like my go-to like I know some people like the side, part and whatnot, but I love a middle part. It'S just so chic and just clean a nice fresh look! Okay, so I think I got my male part and now I'm just gon na comb with my wide tooth comb, trying to show that there's no tangles and my hair is nice and smooth for my low bun. So now I'm gon na use my RS olive oil edge control and you guys know I love this stuff, so I'm gon na take my edgy brush and just you know, lightly apply the edge control to my new growth and I don't use gel. Typically, I have gel on hand, but when I have my edge control, I don't need gel, so this edgy brush is very gentle. The bristles are extremely soft, so I know that it's not gon na create any breakage on my at the demarcation line and that's where the new growth and the relaxed hair meet. So you want to be very gentle in those areas via the edge control. It gives me a really good soft hold and it preserves the style for a couple days. Actually, so I don't have to reapply the product each and every time. So now I'm going to frame the front of my hair and I typically like to sweep my hair or the front of my hair behind my ears. I just like the way it looks. I just like that style, so I always ensure that both sides are nice and neat and it kind of just covers my new growth or, like my edges, in a way, and that way I don't have to put so much product on my my edges, because my Hair is kind of just covering those areas. It just kind of conceals the new growth, so yeah, I'm just ensuring that it's nice and neat, and then I'm gon na put it into a ponytail right after after lightly raking. My hair with my wide tooth comb. I take my headband and I double loop it into a ponytail holder. It'S the only thing that really secures my hair, because my ponytail is quite thick and I'm going to loop that around three times to ensure that my hair is secure. It'S not too tight either. So it just locks everything in place and it's nice and neat, so I'm gon na comb, my ponytail with my wide tooth comb that way it's nice and smooth and I'm just gon na - do a two strand twist. So this is what creates that really pearly twisted bun that a couple of you guys have been asking about. So I just twist it all the way down to the ends, and then I wrap the ponytail around my ponytail holder clockwise. So I don't use any pins for this part and I'll just take a piece of the ponytail holder, open it up and then I'll tuck my ends in and that's it so yeah. This is the finished, look guys and it's one of my favorite protective styles to do throughout the week. It'S so simple and easy, and it really helps to lock in moisture. So now I'm going to take my satin scarf and just to ensure that everything is laying flat and nice and smooth, especially since I'm tech makes post relaxer. My new growth is just so fluffy, so this really helps to lay everything: nice and flat and voila nice and smooth everyday bun perfect for weather your freshly relaxed stretching a relaxer or natural thanks for watching

Debbie Debeaux: I'm having a "missing my relaxed hair" moment! Absolutely love your hair!

Erickarxo: Thank you for this video! I have relaxed hair but it is soooo damn thick and I pasting bra strap length so I needed a good sleek bun tutorial especially for the holiday! Love you! Your hair is gorgeous btw ❤️

Crafting with Angie: Sunshyne, I wanted you to know that I went back and texlaxed my hair and I am happy that I did. I have always had heat trained hair since I was 3 years old, before relaxers. Others may disagree, but my hair seems to hold moisture better when it is texlaxed, then natural eventhough, I kept it moisturized daily. I didn't texlax it bone straight, but I diluted the relaxer so I could just loosen the curl, but not completely lose my curl. So now I still can have a curly bun and also press it straight if I want to. I just love how gentle you are with your hair and I have learned so much from you when I was relaxed and natural too. :)

Latoya Gordon: Simple.Cute.Easy Bun.Love It!!!

JustThatGirl: I've been feeling bored snd uninspired with my hair. Tried this today and I love it! It looks so done, but it's so easy! Super elegant as well. Thank you!

knots2kurlsgirl: OMG Val you are STUNNING! I ❤️ KeraCare’s Oil Moisturizer! I use it as my daily moisturizer and you’re right a little goes a long way. It leaves my hair so soft, supple and hydrated. What would we do without you dropping all that good hair care knowledge for us to consume!

Pamular Oliver: Thank you for sharing your hair techniques and styles with us. they are so helpful and I've learn a lot. I hope God bless you to continue to share with us.

jolyne renelle: Your hair is always gorgeous! Question: do you experience breakage around the area where the ponytail holder sits? My hair is usually back in a bun, and I've noticed I have a ring of breakage right where the hair is in the pony tail I hope you understand what I'm trying to say

Anissa Cooper: I love your hair. How do you keep up your bun during week? Do you take down every night and redo next morning?

Carbonet: Your hair looks awesome and that bun is pure fire but I've got a question: don't you think having your hair in a bun 90-95% of the time is too much? I mean, don't you like wearing your hair down and enjoying it? Will it cause breakage? Have you experienced it or are you afraid to try? For example instagramer spicebeauty473 wear her hair down twice a week I think and then she puts in a bun the rest of the week. Her hair is long and healthy like yours. I tell you that because I think your hair is gorgeous and it's a shame you can't enjoy it more. Thanks for the video.

Felicia Joyner: Hello...Where do you purchase your Keracare products from? Thanks

V B: I need the info on that lip color!

Chinyere Fidelis: It looks like your hair can't retain more length again over this few years. Have you been cutting it to keep it at this length? Coz I started watching your channel when my hair was shoulder length now my hair is longer than your at mid back near waist length

mscurel: Hey Sunshyne! Your hair is beautiful as always; as are you. But I would like to know where your silk scarf comes from or if you can tell me where I could purchase one from? Thanks in advance. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
