She wants a shag, she wants long layers, she does. She wants to have. She wants to have fullness. She doesn't want to take a whole bunch of hair out right because she, you know she's already gave birth to two of my kids and she has one on the way they're so excited so you you know, you know that when you give birth a lot of Times you know you gain a lot of hair and then you lose a lot of hair, so she's lost a lot of hair, so she wants to keep the fullness, but yet she wants a lot of movement. So what I'm gon na do is to tell you the truth. I have an idea, but I'm just gon na kind of freestyle. Alright and we're doing. I told her that I want her hair to be clean, where I can cut it dry and you're. Gon na see instant results when I'm cutting the hair you're gon na see the different layers movement. So what i'm gon na do is i'm going to take my sectioning move. This remember from ear to ear all this is the back all right, and so what I'm gon na do. First, before we establish the length, I'm gon na cut the layers back here, so I can see what we're wanting to do and then we'll connect the link to the layers. Okay. So here we go, I'm going to take a section and because I want more layers on the top and less at the bottom, I'm gon na take a section. It'S gon na, be a triangle. Shape, move this out. The way take the triangle shape. You see that see that triangle shape look at that. Okay, then remember. We want to keep the length down here and the thickness. So I'm going to drop some of this hair all right down here. Now I'm going to cut a blunt cut kind of give it some take another. Take a triangle again: drop that there's a layer all right. Take another section. Another triangle drop that make sure you drop this out, so you don't cut into that, because if I cut the layer, it's gon na leave a hole and we want to leave this nice and thick and pull okay. Okay, I'm kind of stacking it up see. I'M looking at it, it's still heavy and long. I want to raise this up some more so I'm gon na go back. Take this drop! This raise this up, because I want to keep this length here, and this is what I want to cut shorter. So now what I'm going to do is go up this way, so we can keep this linked here, and this is going to be cut point up. We can get see that the same thing same thing see how I'm cut in shorter to longer all right, starting to see it see those you see this layer do the same thing going, cutting up that way, all right starting to see it now see where I Cut it get over here. Look at that she's, a lair all right pick it up make sure you keep an eye on this and keep that full. Look right here see where I cut it see it one see that all right cut it here. Up, look nice and thick has movement. It'S full everything's blending now same thing, work it over to the front area same thing: I'm gon na drop this out make sure it's full want to drop a little bit. More look see that this is my last section here over direct. That way I want to. I don't want. I want this to be full, so I'm gon na drop this out. That'S good! It shouldn't be too much hair left cut. You see it look at that, it's nice and full now, oh she's, gon na love me for this all right. Here we go so now. I'Ve already done this side, I'm gon na do the other side now, okay, so I need to take a part. Remember we're doing we're doing triangle shapes not parallel. Okay, not like look at this, not straight down, I'm doing triangles so we'll take a corner here here. Take half of the part that I cut, which is this one raise this up. Okay, I'm going to drop this hair out down because I want it to be full down here and look there. It is I'm going to cut this point up. This way same thing, work. It triangle, shape. You see the triangle same thing. You got to drop this down. Okay, I need to take a little bit more. So I can have my guideline there. It is area, looks lots for take a triangle shape, I'm going to drop this hair. I don't want to cut into it it's up here there. It is there's my guideline or directed back just a little bit. You don't want to cut a hole into this area here, all right, so there's the back. You can take a look at it, see that it's now it's even always it's nice and full there. It is look at that scrunch it alright. Now we're going to connect the back to the front bike. First, I need to see what's going on here. Excuse me alright, so she wears it in the middle that correct in the middle. All right look at that! It'S already flowing, it makes it a big difference. You take a section triangle, shape, okay and remember: what we're going to do here is what we cut see this bleep just hair, look see that we're gon na lend it to the front. So take a look. A little bit of the back here you want to make sure that before you cut it, what what is it you want? We want to keep this lean, so I drop this hair. There'S a piece that I cut. Okay, all right cut! This work it to the front: do it again extend it back? We want to save that length on the front here. Work it triangle-shape we're a hit. My last section right here difference. You know what I even want to bring this up just a little bit, so I'll go back and do it again all right, you know see that see. It'S flowing now see that I'm gon na do it to the other side same thing. I did on this side. I'M gon na carry it through this side. There'S my guide line here see that little hair just fell out same thing. All right, I'm gon na take this section here. How would he cut all this? What I'm gon na do is I'm gon na connect. This part that we cut to the front. You can do it straight there. I want to over, extend it so see that this hair that was cut already doing is we're blending it. Now that way, look at that nice and full see that that's what we were talking about now, it looks more proportionate, looks everything's flowing. It was so thick here and thin here. Now everything looks good all right and when you do a wing you do layering like that, what happens? Is you end up long gating her hair, even though we're gon na cut a little bit off the length? It'S still gon na look longer than when she came in look at the front right there. You see, see the difference and remember this is a dry cut. You see instant results while we're cutting it dry and, at the same time, you're able to look and it's dry and coming through it. So it's not that defined, because I have not blow-dried it or styled it yet, but yet it still it looks good. It already has a shape, see the fullness look at that okay, so I'm gon na work this just a little bit because I'm looking at the mirror. I like this side right here. Alright, I want to get a little bit more layering in this one here. Remember you drop this out. Take my triangle section see that triangle take the half of that section. Take another section here or working it out to the front all right. We'Re done with that. So now we're gon na. Do the perimeter we're going to cut the length now most of the time we cut the link and do the layers, but in her case we wanted to do the layers and then do the leap so now we're going to do the link all right here we Go so you can take your section here. Remember remove this off the way. This is the front watch the necklace. Okay, I'm gon na take the whole section here just coming down and cut it, we're not taking off very much, and we just layered all this area. Right here all right, look at that how proportionate it looks now it flows. This looked like it was so much thinner than this, and this had no movement. Now everything looks good make sure if she's centered go ahead tilt it down, pull my hair now. Okay, look at this grab. This just want. If these ends all would have to take more off, but we don't need to we kind of cut a lot of that, the layering that we did. Okay, this way do the same thing, other hand oops even face really here all right, so we've got it straight in the middle here. You know part cornering this a little bit on that corner together. It looks good alright, so I'm happy with that. That looks good, see you later right here. So now. What we're gon na do is we're going to blow-dry it. Okay, you see the layers to the movement. Alright, I'm gon na shoot a little hairspray in it. Yeah we go there. You are to the different layers. Look at that alright see that here you go the site and there you have it. It'S nice and full here see that got the layers up here.

Bryan Cortes: this cut is perfect for 2b-3a hair that wants to keep length but volume , i’m a guy and i’ve been growing and evening up my jammed layers and THIS is the cut i did to grow out my hair long and it’s working beautifully , let the bottom layer go and focus on the mid to top hair and boom , you’ll have to grow out the mullet but the curls in that process r amazing i garuntee i won’t get another hair cut for a year

Corri Szucs: Beautiful! I want this cut so badly, then I wouldn't get so frustrated with my long, thick hair!! I sadly always end up getting a mullet because they don't understand this concept..perhaps I'll just give it a go myself ;) Thanks for posting.

Abigale Kirsten: Note for all hairdressers, we love ur videos but PLEASEEE stop playing with the hair continuously. I’d like a 360 without hands 24/7 trying to prove the layers in the haircut, the layers are already there, just let there be more Shots with just the hair and not this continuous touching. I don’t know if anyone else agrees with me, but this is my pet peeve with any hair tutorial

Sydney Elizabeth: Exact cut I needed to see! Thanks!

Baroness Sarah Roth: She’s beautiful! Love the cut.

Diane Salcedo: This is exactly the haircut i wanted but everytime i go to the salon they only do layer on the bottom of my hair. Nothing like this were theres layer on top ..always get dissapointed.

fastbacktina: Great tutorial, thanks for sharing! :-)

Retro Gurlie: I was looking for a modified shag on longer hair to show my hair stylist. I don't want it above my nose in front, between my mouth and chin is ideal. My hair is a similar length with body + wave. I am embracing my silver hair (coming in like a lions mane) and thought a modified shag would ease my transition by removing some of the med brown hair I had been coloring my hair. I'm growing in darker (level 5). I like the outcome, but it's really difficult to see how this cut is done because the camera is zoomed in too close and then has to pan up to see what was getting cut. If the photographer was 2 ft further away, it would give a better view. It is better after 14:35, but it's not visible after 18:50 Very pretty cut.

Sunflowers Cutie: I love the haircut and she’s gorgeous.

TheNice Ashley: Everyone so angry all the time 1. The cut is gorgeous 2. I can remember triangles, whether I see all three points of yours or not 3. She is stunning!!!

Annette Reed: This is exactly the style I'm looking for. I love it! Now if I find someone to do it properly..... I don't suppose you'd come to Ohio? Congrats on that third little one.

Sharon Brady: Gorgeous haircut. I would like this style but my is very fine. I have a medium amount of hair but each strand is very fine. Do you think this style would work for me without leaving the bottom looking too thin and sparse (I hate that). Thank you,

Von Cramm: Beautiful!

Laura Ellison: Eric Perez you are one talented and cool ass family guy dude! But OMG PROPS ON BEING SO TALENTED!!! YOU ARE A Cool Contradiction in humanity!

Manila S Samek: Good tips thank you.

Tamara Kennedy: GOOOAAAGEOUS!!! BOOFADOO...SO PRETTY VERY CLASSY.

Amberlei Private: The camera guy needs to stop zooming in so we can see what’s going on

Tamara Kennedy: YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER ISNT FILMING YOUR CUTTING THEY ARE FILMING YOUR HANDS OUTSIDE OF VIEWING ...UGH...

dee feran: I always have thought every hair stylist they never cut vshape in long bottom, they did only wispy cut and tend to made straight cut

Tamara Kennedy: What did you put on it to blow dry or what profucts besides hairspray? My hair gets too limp with silk drops or blow dry heat protectant and most mouse and cremes just make my hair blah mouse makes it filthy feeling like i have elmers glue in my hair and no frizz blow dry sprays etc make my hair feel like i forgot to rinse my conditioner out of my hair..

robin: Amazing

Pedro Sanchez: Muy bueno

Terezia Lakatos: super

Leticia Calgao: I like the way u cut long shag hair

Rita Avila: Camera person.. bad angles!! Too much moving around!!

susan gunn: Sloppy partings. Dampen hair and part of out properly with clips so we can see how to do it...

Cheryl McCarthy: I hate these damn commercials!!!

Tetra Resinstone: This camera man sucks zoom out bro can’t see shit

susan gunn: try improving your method. neatly part hair so we can see what youre doing & where youre going instead of grabbing fat clumps of hair. looks sloppy.

Richie I: worst camera man
