Hey guys Steven a salon guy here and today, I've got a very special hair tutorial for you. All. I'Ve got this gorgeous gorgeous girl here, Bella hi Bella, how you doing I'm good sure sure, and she agreed to shave her head today on our video when I'm kidding. Okay, but um Bella is, I mean such a sweetheart and she's got gorgeous hair and what I want to do is have a breakdown of a step-by-step tutorial of kind of my one of my signature, hair cuts, which is a gorgeous sexy layered shape. Now I just want to show you her hair before and she's got really really pretty hair to begin with, but what I'm feeling is that it could use a little more layering right into this area. So down into this area, I think could be loosened up a little bit, so it's got a little more shape to it, and I also feel in here could have a little more of a better flow going back into the shape. So I want to kind of work this all in with that beautiful modern sexy layered shape that just kind of has that nice flow keeping a good amount of the length. I don't want to cut a lot of length up. I just really want to work. Rework the shape in through here just to give it a really really sexy, pretty look and we're going to do kind of a step by step and I'm ready to go. Let'S get started alright guys, so we are ready to start Bella's haircuts and what I'm going to do is just go over what I did for this sectioning. This is pretty simple, pretty straightforward. I just created a center parting right down the middle here and then the division point, which is the top of the head and then right behind the ear. This basically separates the front and the back and whether you're someone doing here for 20 years or two months. You really just want to set yourself up for success and that's why I always separate the front and the back, because the front is a whole different part of the haircut, the sides here and the back they're all different. So we have to take them on individually and what I've done is I've created my base section in the back and in a lot of my videos I talked about creating the foundation. The foundation of the haircut really is essential and Bella's hair the length isn't too bad, it's actually just fine. So what I'm going to do is I'm simply just going to create a one length shape throughout the entire back of the head and I'm just taking. Maybe a half inch if that the most off little does she know on camera, I'm taking about six inches off, but I'm telling her it's about a half knot. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to bring everything down to this one point into the back: we're going to cut that and then we'll work into the sides. We'Re done cutting the back now and we just created a you know basic one length shape into the back, just to really clean up the ends and now we're going to work into the sides and again this is just simply connecting it's like dotted lines you're connecting The lines you're keeping everything kind of together - and now I mean it's the first time, cutting her hair. So I don't know what to expect him through here, but here's where we're going to be seeing what's happening into this area right in through here, which is the corner, the sides and the corner. Now she has the angle, starting, you know pretty far high up here and coming. You know way back in through here, so a lot of times. What I'll do for this situation is the comb it straight down like this and then just kind of like lightly freehand? The length just to follow the shape just like this, so I don't really disturb it too much. Do you want to cut it in its natural state? So you just comb it down. You don't use any tension and you just follow the natural pattern of how it's cut down already a lot of times. You know you can have this a lot longer if you want to keep that corner. If you want to keep these sides longer, this needs to be way down here to kind of connect here and the face frames needs to start up here, but it all really depends. You know everyone's different um, especially previous haircuts. So what we have to do now is this is where the real magic of this haircut is. Is this whole area like right in through here now? I felt that she could have used. You know a little more kind of face framing and a bit more of a softer type, look right in through here, which is why I call it the money piece Hey - and this is my I love doing. I love creating the shape right in through here. So now we have to basically determine where we're going to cut this, so our finger positioning right here really dictates. You know the more it's like this. The more of the angle. You never want to cut an angle straight across like this, because then you're screwed, you need. You need to really work from here, and this is where you know it's. It'S kind of not much of an issue but like the more hair you have in through here. The more of a flow you can have coming down this way to make it flow back. If there's not a lot of hair and through here, meaning it's cut too short we're kind of limited on what we could do, but the thing what we have to do is now connect this into this somehow. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to establish my length first, so I'm basically standing right across from where I'm going to cut this. So I want to start right here and we're going to work our way down into the existing layers or the existing. You know side piece now keep in mind she's like I said this was already cut relatively short, but we don't have a lot of hair to work with into this one area right into here, so we have to kind of be a little cautious working our way Down into this part right here, because there's not a lot a lot of hair to work with from you know previous, I guess previous haircuts and stuff. So we have to really factor that all in. But we do have room in from here to make this a little bit shorter, which i think is going to really enhance the cut more than because what happens is, if you have this really long and there's no kind of hair right into here. There'S not much of a shape to it. There'S nothing to have that flow so by reversing it and kind of bringing this part right in through here up a little bit shorter, I'm going to spin the chair around this way, what it does it actually enhances. This part right in through here this angle, and this is what's going to create that flow, that nicer shape so instead of it looking like no hair and then a lot of hair in through here, so now that we have this shorter right into this very front. This is the shortest piece right here. Remember it's up here not down here. You don't want to make this a shortest piece. You want to create that angle that flow from up top. Now that we have that, we can then look at the overall length and you overall shape and try to really work this all in like that. So, as you can see here from this angle, look at the difference now, and this was already done before. So we can't do anything, but typically I'd like to have this a little bit longer down through here, but now it's going to look much better because we have this shorter working in through here. It'S not just like a big short chunk of hair. So what I'm gon na do now is the same as that thing on the other side and we're just going to comb this straight down and again, it's all about connecting and following the flow you always want to make sure like, especially if you're new to cutting Here you want to make sure you have a really good, you know flow everything has to kind of work together and it has to be like a complete connected. Look. The flow is really what sells the whole thing, because when somebody a client you know they are you blow dry their hair. You want everything to have that gorgeous sweeping kind of sexy. Look and that's why I talk about you know it being a sexy haircut, because it is this and Bella is a sexy girl. We got to keep her sexy, hey all right, so we're going to comb this straight down here and then we're just trimming up the length just to keep it balanced and now we're coming into that part. The same thing on the other, like we did in the other side, where we have to connect in through here, so we're going to comb this straight down, and here is where we're going to start to see what's going on in through here. So as we comb this back, it looks like maybe on the other side, there was a lot more hair that was cut on that one side. So I went in through here, as you can see, there's a lot more hair coming down this way, whereas on the other side, this was like way cut off over here. So you know, obviously in a lot of situations we can't really control. Sometimes you know past haircuts, but what I'm going to do is I'm going to now kind of work, the shape in, and I'm going to try to mirror the other side and really connect this on. As so as you can see, I'm now reshaping this and bringing this all in. So all this really has a you want to make sure this matches up to the other side, and now I'm standing basically right in front of where I'm cutting and I've done. Previous haircutting videos, where like how to create a face rain - and this is basically it we're literally creating a face frame, but we're making sure that everything really matches up now. My experience, if somebody has one side, that's like really a lot shorter and kind of chopped up. You know if you can patch that other side up, then yes, try to mirror it on this side because you want it to kind of look the same. You want everything to be kind of balanced, but already, and your hands are naturally going to kind of react to the hair. So my hands, I'm already cutting more on this side, just because it wasn't as balanced as it should have been. So I'm my hands are kind of like sound. Like muscle memory, you know the other side. I was already remembering how much I cut so this side, I'm doing the same thing and I'm seeing more hair. It needs to come off. So I always say when in doubt cut it out, you know so now, I'm just following the pattern up this way and as you can see, my fingers are now pointed downwards, which means that again, as you can see, the finger angle dictates everything like this. So the more my fingers are like this, the more of an angle it's going to be so now we're going to come right into the front. So here's a very front part right in through here and what we're going to do now is just I'm going to stand in front, so I can see what's going on, like it's blocking the camera, so we're going to comb this all straight down and now I'm Going to take a as you can see, I mean look in the in the camera. I mean you guys are watching. I barely even did anything as far as checking and look how much look, how balanced it is. Bella open your eyes, real quick, see that no, so I created even shape right in through here the first shot, and that was from just the memory and just being you know, it will naturally happen when you get better and better at cutting and more used to It so it's going to naturally fall into place, so now what I'm going to do is I just want to kind of comb this down again in the front to just refine this a little bit and make sure that this and the very front right here is The shortest piece - this is going to be the shortest piece right in through here, because that is the angle. That'S the flow everything and then what you do. Is you check by simply just pulling this straight down this way and if I, if I get it even on the first shot, I'm pretty lucky because I never get it even they don't call me. They call me uneven Steven, so we're going to bring this all straight down this way and now we're going to go back and really connect and check everything to make sure it's all even and I do that by combing it all forward this way you want to Really make sure you comb the hair, really really well combing. The hair really well is really essential, because if you don't you're going to have you know knots or areas that are that aren't cut or they're kind of, not even with the other side. So now that we have a good kind of balance, we can go back in and be a little more kind of aggressive now and say: okay, so this side needs to be cut and that look I found a spot that needs to be a little bit shorter Because it need to be blended a little bit better so now the haircut will sort of transform itself and it's already looking a lot better as far as the way it's blended and now we're on off to a really really good start. So we're going to clean this up here make sure it's all balanced, make sure it's all even and then we will start the actual layering on the top and back now that the foundation is done, and that's that's very important - don't skimp out on this! This the face framing all that so if we just did, is like the most important part of the haircut. So don't like just rush through that. A lot of people think oh, it's just the foundation. It'S the one length thing where it! No, you have to really take that very very seriously, because that is the foundation I learned many years ago. If you don't have a good foundation for a haircut, then you know that is that that is the base. Is the foundation of the whole haircut really really really important, and I learned that many many years ago and I was training and stuff so now we're going to create the layers now the layers are, you know a very important part of this as well, but we Could literally like not even cut anything else and just work off of that face frame that we did, because that's how important the face frame is so what I did is my first section is: I pick this straight up right into the top act of the head. This is my first section for the layering, as you can see right in the top back of the head and what this is. This is probably the most important piece, because this is going to be the guide for where we bring everything else up to for the haircut. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to comb this straight up. Just like this, I'm going to keep my elbow even and I'm going to cut straight across I'm creating an even I'm going to hold on to this, and even this is where they call me even Steven. Okay, a nice even section right in through here - and this is going to be the foundation of the entire haircut for the back and then working towards the front. So what I'm going to do! This is another little secret that I do and this this really really guarantees to make sure the haircut really is even and really is. Nice has a great flow to it. She'S got a lot of hair back here like she really it's deceiving. She has like a lot of hair and hey. This is great for people who do have a lot of hair trust me. I know folks what it's like to have a lot of hair, okay, and no I'm not talking about my head anyway. So all right, so we're going to comb this straight up like this. The guide is underneath here I'm going to hold everything straight up, I'm going to cut straight across, so I brought one more section down from the back right here up this way. So I've got two sections that are held straight up from the head: all right, I'm not going to do that from this point down, because if I do it's going to remove too much weight all right, this is just a trick that, where it's a little too Heavy you bring this up to here, and then you lay this down so now we're do the same thing on this side. You want to match up to where we just cut comb, it straight up and we're mirroring what we did on the other side. And if you need a piece to take as a guy, then you can. But everything is parallel. Your arms, your elbows everything - and we cut straight across like that, so it's not about taking off like a huge amount of length, it's creating an even balance throughout the haircut and all my haircuts, I'm telling you! I really spent a lot of time making sure that it's well balanced, not everything is about taking off a huge amount of hair, it's more about making sure it's got that flow, which we keep going back to that word the flow so now, as you can see, I'M changing my body position and I'm changing the way I'm combing the hair, so I'm going to lock it in from the scalp and comb straight out. This way now I'm coming over the top of the section I'm going to comb it straight out this way and then there's the hair right here. That needs to be cut off and the length is going to fall out from that section. So if you see here come out of that section, that's good! Because that's what you want to protect! You don't ever want to cut that length on the very bottom, because then it's going to make the hair too thin on the bottom and that's not what you want. So we're combing it straight out. There'S the guide: there's a hair that drop down and we're going to continue to move on throughout the back of the head. Now as we get towards the corners. What I'm doing is I'm over directing a little bit slightly more towards the center, because I want to maintain that weight in through here the biggest problem and look this is it right here? This is the most important part right here. Is this corner? So what I want to do is I'm combing this all straight back this way, because what I want to do is I want to maintain the length and the weight into that corner. So this is traveling all the way back and you can see, there's hardly anything to cut which is good, so we're going to drop this down, and now this all comes down this way. So what we did is we preserved the length and we preserve that weight that we need into here. If we don't do that, then it's kiss the hair goodbye because we're going to cut all that hair off. If we angle it out this way and you can have a huge chunk - that's missing here, which could have been what happened. You know in the past, but you got to really really be careful when, when doing that and that really right, there is kind of a lifesaver. So you want to really over direct and you want to pull the hair all the way back towards you. So, as you can see here from the side now, I'm going to switch the comb position and I'm going to comb away from myself yeah this side is a lot harder to comb. I don't know why. Maybe this side is this side is a nicer side. This side is the mean side. Alright. So now I'm going to Comus and we're going to connect we're going to do the same thing that we did on the other side. So there's the hair. It needs to come off. Let the hair drop out that it doesn't need to be cut and then we're going to go. So I'm going to finish this up on this side and then we'll come back when we're ready to move into the top. Now we're at the point. We have to connect this part right here, the top back of the head with this, and that's why everything has to be treated as separate parts of the head, because it is, and you have to cut it that way. So what we're doing now is connecting this layer that we cut with this, so everything is parallel and we're cutting straight across. So now we have an even connection going from here to here. You don't - and I repeat you don't want to take this section right here - that I just cut and cut it straight up. I'M telling you right now: it's going to create a line and a whole new weight line right in through here that you have to cut all over again. You do not want to do that alright, so this is the best way for me that I've worked with to connect alright and if you want to bring this hide up a little bit and just take a little bit off there. All this right in through here is simply about connecting all right and the way you connect hair is it. Is you just pull it straight out from the head and just simply do that? It'S that simple connect. It'S like connecting the dots and, at some point, there's not going to be a lot of hair to cut, which is fine, which means it's already connecting and blending into itself so right in through here we're just following that pattern. All the way throughout the back. Do the same thing on the other side and then what I'm done will braid to then really move forward to the front this is done now and what we can do is now work forward horizontally this way, so I'm going to take a section right down here Throughout the middle and what I'm going to do is I'm going to comb it back, get myself a nice clean working area, nice clean section and then I'm going to carve a horizontal slice right here, a section and then what I'm going to do is I'm going To comb it straight up this way and if there's not so you want to be very careful and cautious, I'm using the white teeth to comb the knots out, but now that we have our guide to work forward, we're good to go so there's the guide and We'Re just going to take off that little bit right into the top and we're going to work our way forward. This way, so I'm going to take another section and as we as we work more towards the front, there's not going to be a lot of herod's to be cut because you probably already guessed it yes, because we already cut the face frame. All right. We cut the face frame and now we're just simply evening this all out, and by doing this also, this gives us a good idea to make sure everything is balanced and even which, as you can see here, it is so now that we have that done. It'S time to work the corners in because that's just the center, we still have the corners and the sides to do, which is the bottom and there's a lot. You know a good, proper haircut really. It needs to go through all these steps, because, if you skimp out on any of these steps, it's just not going to have that gorgeous sexy flow or going for like and that's the difference between going to someone who cut your hair in 15 minutes or myself. I booked an hour for a haircut, doesn't necessarily mean I take an hour to cut someone's hair, but I can, but I actually spend more time on cutting that I do blow-drying. So what I'm doing is I'm actually connecting the corners into here just to make sure that this all has a good flow, then we're going to come down since we're on the same panel right into here and I'm going to cut the very very bottom section. The true sides, by combing this straight out this way now watch this hair right here is the base. You don't want to cut that. Let that drop out and we're just going to snip off that little bit. If you cut the very bottom you're screwed you're, going to create holes, you're going to cut too much hair and you're going to disrupt the shape so now we're moving into the second section, which is the corner. The great thing about this is not a lot of hair to cut, which means we did a good job with the face framing. When you have lots and lots of hair that you're cutting. You know it means you might have to go back and kind of recheck everything to make sure it's balanced, because you shouldn't be taking off, like you shouldn't, be seeing like longer like really really longer pieces. So now this is the really important part, and this is what really ties in the whole haircut together. Is this money piece right in the front, so I'm taking this whole section right in through here, as you can see just spin us a little bit this whole front section, I'm combing this straight out and combing up this way, because we want to preserve the length So let that length drop out and then we're going to cut this little corner right there, and if you want to continue down to make sure it's all even then we can just connect that right there and that's it. So now we have. The whole flow is done. We have to do the same thing on the other side when we're done cutting, then we'll go into the blow dryer, alright. So, for the last step before blow-dry, I like to do this one little trick to make sure that everything on top here is all kind of balanced out and connected, and we do that by simply just combing this straight up here and the top part right here Is going to look like it's going to be the longest? Obviously, so we're going to take this all this way and just comb this all up straight out from how the hair grows from the head and just make sure I look at that. We did a really good job, just make sure that it's all even right in through here, because if it's not you'll see longer pieces that need to be cut and that's just a quick little guarantee by doing a stripe right down through here section making sure that Everything from both sides is well-balanced and now we're done cutting I'm just going to break my fingers to it and look at look at the shape already from just from the side, the side angle and we haven't even blow-dried it or anything or styled it, but just From the shape alone, it's got a whole different flow. Look how much looser it is! Look. It'S got that sexy flow that I was talking about, don't be too sexy, yet don't be too sexy and now look from the front see this is this is what you want. Is you want this to have that nice sex that really beautiful shape to it and what I do before I blow dry? Is. I just run my fingers to it like this, just to make sure that everything is well-balanced, and this I'm telling you she's got a lot of hair, but what this did is it really loosened up the shape really brought those layers out. We kept the length and look how much more fullness look, how much more vibrant the hair looks and now we're going to blow-dry it so for her hair, I'm going to use a few different things. So first my sea salt spray, tidal wave, which is my number two best-selling product here and you guys know tight away. But if you don't it's a light sea salt spray which is kind of like a great foundation, it smells like paradise. It smells pretty good right. Feels good and then I'm going to use my newest product support cream, which I'm telling you this stuff is blowing up in salons people are going crazy over it. I am obsessed with it and I called it native support cream, because when this was being developing stages and testing, I wanted something that supported the blow-dry, something that gave like a little bit of a light hold. You know conditioned the hair smooth the hair, but really supported the blow-dry, so it actually locked in the style and I'm telling you this is amazing. This product yep yep it thickens the hair it especially if your hair is a little more dry. It actually conditions it. While blow-drying, it really pulls the hair together, it makes it a lot more of a healthy shape, and this is great. It has like, I said, a light hold so then run this through and then I'm going to use one last product which is plush. It'S my. It'S my volumizing and smoothing serum, which you don't usually get two in one. So I had this made because I wanted smoothing to kind of D frizz, but also to not make the hair super flat. So we're going to run this through and now we're going to start the blow-dry alright. So for the blow-dry, I'm using my new favorite hair dryer, the H 3000 from hair art products, I'm Tony this thing is super light, it's great for the hair. It conditions to hear well blow dries, and the nozzle, which is a very big nozzle here, is very beneficial for this section, so you're getting more coverage when you're blow-drying. So what I'm going to do is I'm just going to put this on lower speed right now. So you can hear me talking and I just like to get a little bit of the moisture out of the hair first, and I do that by I'm, not literally like. Let me turn this way. I'M not roughing the hair up a lot, I'm literally smoothing it with my hands. This way, alright kind of, like I'm petting the hair like this, because I don't want to create a big frizz ball. I want to actually keep the hair, nice and smooth, but also with some volume, so I'm working the shape end and I also use my clean shampoo and my new conditioner, which is I'm telling you this. Her hair feels incredible, and I'm super stoked about that. So we're going to push this hair out of the way and I like to start the blow-dry like right in the very front because the first section it really is what you see. You know people looking at you straight on and they see that front section right through here. So I like to start right in the very front - and I'm going to take this section right here - we're going to lock it in this way and we're going to actually blow-dry towards the face like this we're blow-drying towards the face and we're going to hold the Brush a little bit in here just to get lock in that shape. But as you can see, I'm going over the section and over it because that's the best way to really smooth out and dry out the section and get that nice shape is to really go over it until it's really smooth make sure those ends. Are nice and smooth in through here and the way I'm going to do is on a follow pattern going all towards the face and look at that. Look at that beautiful angle, and then this section right here will do right in the front I'm going to bring us all forward this way and we're going to bring this towards the face like this, because we want to lock in. Let me just turn this way. You want to lock in that shape and that volume right in the front - and this is what's going to create like that - really - that really beautiful kind of money piece right into here, so we're going to bring us all forward, don't be don't be afraid to bring It towards the face this way and you can raise it up a little bit - get a little more volume right into here, but we're actually blow-drying Pat liked how we cut it so we're going to hold brush here for a second again. This isn't damaging the hair drying it because we have the products to protect it, a good brush and a really good blow-dryer, and now we're going to let this release and look at this look at that beautiful angle and that face frame right through here now. This isn't even the money piece yet so what I'm going to do is I'm going to blow-dry the other side, then working for the back, then I'll show you guys how to really lock in this hairstyle. Ok guys so the blow-dry is finished, and now I know this looks like a lot of hair in her face, but as want you to see the the shape coming forward now Bella bring your hair back your head back. That'S good, and this is how you create the real grand finale night. This is the big. This is the big part right here folks, this is the money shot. So what we do is you bring the hair back and you kind of rake it off back. This way with your hands, because that's kind of creating the shape and bring you all the layers together. Okay, now bring your head forward this way, and then you work it all in this way. Look at that! Look how gorgeous that is! You can look into this camera into the screen if you want Bella to see look at that is that, like insane or what look at this look at that see that flow, I mean night and day difference from what we had before look at the bounce. Look at the this is sexy. This is a sexy, haircut, ha ha ha so ho sure sure. So I just want to break down again and just what I did is you know we cut the length to basically one length shaping through here created the foundation of the haircut and and then the important part was kind of working the shape in through here and Then doing that on both sides and then really focusing on connecting the shape and through here to make sure it really because she did have some challenging areas in through here, but we work that all in so now it looks fuller, it looks thicker, it just looks Gorgeous gorgeous the products helped the shampoo everything comes together from the tools you use the products, you use the haircut itself and this haircut will grow extremely extremely well. So I think she looks great all right guys. Thank you so much for watching. I hope you enjoyed this haircuts. Bella is absolutely stunning and thank you for being a model and of course, of course - and I will see you guys next time for more videos with us longer

y. stamps: One of the best haircut tutorials on YouTube. I am a barber/stylist going on 30 years now. Your instructions and way of teaching are phenomenal. I tried to subscribe twice. Lol. Love that black shirt with the kisses. Got to have it!

Pam Ratcliffe: I shared this video with my stylist as this is exactly how I wanted my hair cut. He did an amazing job and I love it! Thank you so much!!

Laurielle D: I've been watching your layering videos all day, and have learned SO much. My only question is how do you know how much to elevate when pulling all the hair to the back to cut the layers? And when you're working in the corners?

Lynn Bennett: You can tell that she is sooo happy with that cut. I cannot for the life of me get anyone in my area to understand this kind of cut. They chop off the back straight and leave the front COMPLETELY AS THE HORROR THAT IT IS. Wish I could go to him. This lady looks amazing and I am so happy she got that perfect haircut. She looks amazing because of this very talented beautician. Great job!

Suzie Jabin: I loved watching this! This is exactly the same way I cut hair! I do this haircut a lot, it was cool to see a tutorial!

Black Sunshine: My mom was a beautician in the 80's and she was taught to pull a small section from the top /middle/ back section like he did to use as a cutting guide. Beauty schools must have dropped that technique because now stylists just grab sections & cut leaving massively uneven layers. I could tell the layers are uneven cause a good layer haircut takes longer than 6 mins- especially with long hair. Also, my layers never matched up when I rolled my hair in hot rollers. Now I cut my own hair, other than a blunt cut 1x a year to take a few inches off the length only.

Jutta: Beautiful sexy cut, simple but fabulous! Thanks for explaining step by step Steve!

Kathy Brintlinger: I had an outstanding stylist for years but she moved away. The way he cut her hair reminds me of what she always did. Now I clearly see why I fight to get my hair to lay correctly. Thanks!

Nicole Ciuffreda: After I watched this I redid my hair and blended it much better. Never looked better. Thank you for sharing your amazing skills.

Kate Moore: I wish I could find a hair dresser who could cut my hair like this - I always end up with shelf like layers at the front which is so annoying as I could do that myself at home.

Ruthie: I haven’t had my hair cut professionally in years but I love when people run their hands through my hair, it about puts me to sleep!

David Campbell: Beautiful cut and style Salon Guy. A few things impressed me. First, how well you explained what you are doing. Second, how modern the layers are cut with confusion. Third, the finish which I feel is the most important step of the process. And finally, a happy model. That should really be the most important process. Great Job!!!

NordicPhoenix: Excellent tutorial and I LOVE the cut! Just beautiful! Thank you!

JESSICA STEPHANIE: I just cut my own hair following this technique and omg!!! Turned out so beautiful!!!

Sarah Osinovsky: I LOVE YOU! I have been growing my hair out for a while. Now, it is long and flat. Dry shampoo is not giving as much volume since my hair is getting heavier. This is exactly the haircut and look that I love! Thank you soooo much!

Choppini: Since I discovered Steven's channel and his symmetric layered haircut tutorials, I feel sooo sexy again, because I got myself a new scissors and went over my hair (again). IT looks GEORGEOUS!!!! I was not that happy with a haircut for more waaaay more than 10 years. Not one of these miserable haircutters could do that what I was able to achieve just by watching a few of his wonderful tutorials. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. I have to say that I am absolutely OCD when it comes to my hair, a perfect cut lasts for several months, usually 4 to 5. My last DIY cut lasted from beginning of February to now, mid June. Needed just a little bit work.......and I feel like a Goddess again.

Arianna P: This is TIGIs version of square layers. I use it all the time! You're very thorough in your explanations, thanks for making these videos

Nancy Marano Silva: Very nice. Not over cutting but making a huge difference! Thank you

kathy bethune: My hair does so well with a layered cut.. I wish I could find someone local who could do this for me.. beautiful cut!

Yvonne Summer: I am so glad I found your video. That's exactly what I am after, flow and balance! I have the same style as your model, but a bit shorter. My layers in the back always end up wispy and just hang there and I don't like. I noticed you don't do point cutting in this video. My stylist does point cutting which thins out my hair too much sometimes, I have fine hair. And when I ask him not to do point cutting, I end up with a heavy thick head of hair! What is the reason to do point cutting? Also, I never know how to explain how I want the bottom line cut in the back. I like a straight line, not too thin, but I have a lot of hair in the back, and when it is cut blunt it feels thick and heavy. Is there a way to layer or stack the very bottom? I would appreciate your feedback, thanks for your very informative video.

Andrea Martin: Beautiful cut style lesson! She needs a deep condition with how difficult her hair is to comb, but her hair is beautiful, thank you!

Alma Rodriguez: Thank you very much for teaching how to cut my hair. I followed your instructions and yesterday I cut my hair as you teach. My husband told me that I did it better than my hairdesser does. I'm from Uruguay and again thank you!!

Terry Brown: I've wore my hair like this for years even when it wasn't in style. LoL. I've done hair for 32 yrs, and I cut exactly like he does. I've never been one to cut every section parted and pinned off.. loved the video!!

akiyoshidai1231: I loved her reaction like: Yaas I'm sexy! That's what any hairstylist should achieve when a client leaves a salon.

Karen Hello: Thank you, I just fixed my choppy uneven layers really wish I could just find a good hairdresser

Blanca F. Corona: love it! thanks for being so detail with your hair cutting tutorials. your awesome!

Kirsten Richards: Am I the only one who finds watching hair cuts relaxing.. ?lol

Jennifer Kilgore: Hey, again I just love your haircuuting style, its so easy to follow along . You give great tips too. It makes me aware that what im doing behind the chair is right! !!!

Jacob Alfaro: Obsessed with your videos! Your amazing at cutting hair. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

J V: You are the bomb. I'm in Cosmo school right now, and one of my co-workers wants me to do a layered cut for her. This is a phenomenal tutorial. Thank you <3

Angela Price: I just found your videos (&you) while I was searching for a tutorial with lots of layers. I can't believe I actually watched the whole video! I usually don't have the attention span! LoL! But you were so engaging, I couldn't stop! I used to have a girl that gave me this haircut everytime, I love it and it's timeless, but she moved away and I haven't found anyone around me that can seem to do this! So, I've been trying to do it by myself! Not sure I could do this exactly to my own hair, but I'm confident I could on my sister's hair..so she'll be happy about that! Great job and I loved her reaction!! Lucky girl!

Merry: I want my hair to look just like this. Lovely!

Madeline Texas: Very nice I love ❤️ the cut & boy that cut was amazing when you kept the length yet gave her a beautiful full layer look.

Public Service Announcement: I like how careful you are with her hair. Good video overall!‍♀️

Tully Soulliere: Bravo! ...Very well done! Been doin hair a long time and you explain this cut and all cuts i`ve seen you do real well.Thank you and you have a great sense of humor! Your model is a doll.

Ghostiiie kun: Wow that's exactly how I do my signature haircut as well ! Great work as usual

Katelyn: I love that he isn't really "cutting" her hair, he is just trimming a little at a time

Amy Jackman: I’ve just started out on my own have my little salon in my garden I love watching your videos and it’s really helped but face framing still scares me

operation umbrella: this is exactly the same way my haorstylist does my haircut for 15 years and no one else can do it correctly. if i could not go to her place, i will show this video to the person. thank you.

J C: I love the haircut and also her hair color. One thing I am also noticing is, those great hairdressers on youtube make a haircut an art. Makes my hairdresser, who I love, look amateurish, I hate to say. One day I'd love to get a real good haircut by a great hairstylist. One fine day...

Clyde Gosey: One of the best layer cuts to date. Thank you for this video.

Arber Qamil Llugiqi Art: Thx so much, you are amazing ! I am learning from all your videos.Hoping next year I will open my salon over my own Country using all your excellent hair cutting techniques!

jamie lobos: Your very very detailed and thorough I love it

LilyOfTheTower: She has such beautiful eyes. Great hairstyle for her. Great job!

Hello Sweetheart: yes! excellent tutorial and excellent "real world" experience (not model perfect people with already perfect looks). You barely cut anything off and it made a huge difference woe!!

Its Zozita: Beautiful! Very informative!

Codruta Clichici: I am so thankful to you, your voice is in the back of my mind when I am working on my clients, I am following your method of angel and elevate, it works every time, no matter how many tutorials I watch,,, you are the best!

OkButFirstCoffee: Love her smile! Very beautiful hair! Great job ☺️

Stephanie Sticker: Love it! So pretty!

Anna Hatfield: Thats a beautiful hair cut! Love it!

Sharon Margaret Stewart: Fantastic Steven, Bellas hair looks fantastic, well done Steven

Lianne B: So glad I came across your video it's so refreshing because other you tube channels are so repetitive and generic full of the same blunt clipper cuts this style hair colour is absolutely gorgeous just like you and your client than you so much. Xxxx

Joel Camacho: what an amazing finish salon guy very impressive and the way she reacted to your craft was great I wish to have your skills

HerrDanilo: Hey Stephen, is face framing a technique you would apply on long male hair as well? If so, can you make a tutorial video of it? Thanks.

Chezeex: I really like this look. But as I normally have a side parting, could I do a similar cut with the centre angles cut slightly to one side?

Joycesim207: Thanks for reminding me to blend , I really like the haircut !

Chelle K: I love it! You're awesome, love your videos.

epic man: Epic geourges look ...Thank you for all the great points you share with us #thesalonguy

Francis Dolarhyde: I'm learning this so I can cut my girlfriend's hair. Wish me luck!

Nadia Ling H: I like this tutorial and I love the model's big smile at the end :-) Thanks Even Steven

Swati Patel: Love this haircut, but I can't find a hairdresser that can do it. Either they cut too many layers in the middle so it looks really heavy and unbalanced, or they don't cut enough and you can't even see the layers.

Khor Zhe Wei: Man idk why am i watching this as a guy but the end product is amazing. Sexy. Can you do another one with a model with slightly frizzier hair, like that has more curls but not super curly kind of hair, would love for my sister to watch this.

Lena Fuggi: This is so stunning....as usual

soraninja: Beautiful work!

RV thereyet?(Dan & Sammy asking=): Ok, I understand this is an older video, but I have to say this is the first one I have EVER seen that truly made sense to me. I started watching these because I decided I was going to try and cut my own hair~but now, umm NO, I just need to figure out how to translate this to whoever it is I find that might be able to do the same?! Arrgh! My husband just watched it with me and said; "Find him!" He is so afraid of me getting my long hair cut as we have had truly awful past experiences. I notice that you do not respond when others in the comment section ask where you are~which of course is what we want to know as well~but perhaps you know someone to recommend in the Phoenix AZ area?? Long shot, but had to ask=) Thank you so much for this post, all the same. Absolutely magnificent perspective on what/why/how/when with this haircut...with what you do all around actually, really inspiring and incredibly well explained and presented, imho. Thanks, in advance, for any further info you may offer~ God bless and Happy Tuesday to you! Samantha in AZ

Parminder Singh: love ur videos man keep it up hopefully i can get a haircut from u one day

LaTanza Lashay: Awesome bio. I love it. Ty so much for what you do. I have learned alot from you and I really appreciate it

Shape Hair: can you do a classic long round layer cutting from the front outline into the back layers following the head shape. Aside from one Vidal Sassoon video, there's no other one on YouTube because it's a hard technique to execute.

Paula Bordei: 4:00 I always end up with that problem. Instead of a gradual face frame, I have shorter pieces that jump to longer pieces.

Bettina: If I normally wear my hair parted on the side, do you cut it parted in the middle or on the side? What about the face framing? In case anyone knows please answer. Thanks!

Alice Morales-Urteaga: You def know what the hell you're doing !! Yaaas!!! Thank you SalonGuy. Love this video!

MIvette Alicea: A+++ Tutorial...Awesome instructor. Thank you for sharing your talent and techniques. I take off my Hat and bow for The SalonGuy :-) Warmest Regards, Ivette~

Martha Magee: Thanks. What I don't understand is she has cut my hair many times, same way. Long layers. She always tries to talk me into cutting more off and I always tell her no..just a little. Ive pretty much always been happy with her cuts. But this time she went and did something that wrecked my hair. I am very angry and feel betrayed because it had taken me a long time to build trust having had a few traumatic bad haircuts in the past. I am always vigilant until I get to know the stylist. She went off on some tangent talking about the Kennedys and spent almost the whole haircut cutting from the back. I was distracted by the conversation. When she finished with NO FRONT LAYERS AT ALL, and the bangs not what I asked for ( and I always ask for them the same way) and my hair looking like a bowl cut, I said, " Somehow this haircut has gone terribly wrong. . whee are my long layers? What is this supposed to be? " She started shaking and getting defensive. I was terribly triggered and I should have left without paying. It was a travesty.I dont understand what happened at all She ruined my hair and my Spring. Im wearing hats out in public. It's that bad. I am so angry!!Question: Should I confront her? What is the correct protocol in a case like this?Watching you cut this lady's hair into long layers was exactly the cut I wanted. And you were so relaxed and put her ( and me) at ease. Sigh.. I'm glad people like you exist. Thank you.Is there someone I could go to who could look at it and possibly fix it? Im in NY This week. Thanks, Salon Guy. One upset puppy who is feeling very bad right now

Isabella Kathleen: Love, Love, love the sexiest layered haircut. So precise and the results are perfect. Where is your salon? Do you take non celebrities? I have very long hair, about 4 inches below my bra all one length. I have tried long layers in the past but it was never cut with the flow you mentioned in your video. Help!!!!

Crystal: beautiful hair cut

Natita Campbell: Love your work!!

Morgan DeRose: She would look so stunning with an all over chocolate brown and a pink lip!! I think the orange with the orange lip washes her out a little, but she's gorgeous so she can pull off anything. Just my two cents

Vickie Damico: a beautiful video! you are an awesome teacher!

Lenore Wolke: When I want to trim the back of my hair and want layers do I cut vertically or horizontally in sections? Someone please answer. Thank you! I have shoulder length hair as I am an old broad.

Kim Niemi: Oh my God, please come to Boston! This is exactly what I'm always trying to get my hairdresser to do, and I've basically given up.

Charlotte Christina: Umm hii iv just started following u ... and i know this will help me alot as im learning haircut for both male n femalethis videos are so helpfull as everything is explained sooo properly and its not confusing Thank you

Anna DiDario: It shows you part the hair in the middle. It looks like we have same hair texture which is fine and straight. But I part my hair on a side. Should I get it framed according to which side my hair is part or its always standard in the middle?

THE BRAID HUSTLER: I love this BUT I didn’t see as much confidence when he started talkin about his products and styling. I wonder why because he’s great and when he used the blow dryer towards the face that was AWWWWSOME

Monica Bonner: Steve i love you're cuts! i have told my hairdressers friends about you!
