It's important to consult your doctor and do what's best for you individually.

Who cares? Wear your hair, how you like it see y'all in the next video peace, okay, okay, so the real answer? Is it really doesn't matter? If you want long hair, then rock it, but i do understand that some guys want to know. If long hair will look attractive on them before they decide to go on that hair growth journey, so i'm going to go against my gut instinct here and talk about which face shapes will work best with long hair. So you can make the best decision for yourself moving forward so for the more scientific answer watch all the way till the end, so you can decide for yourself so long, hair works technically with every single face shape. The main thing that you will want to look out for is how long you grow your hair and then how you style that long hair, so some face shapes, for example, look better with hair around your chin. Others look good with hair down past your shoulders and then you will want to look at how you style that long hair, because, for example, like high balls, look better on some face, shapes low balls, look better on others, and then you know: half buns half ponies These all go into what looks good, with your face, shape so length and style are the two components that we'll be looking at, for what complements your face shape. So, having said that, this video will be divided into two parts. Part one is going to be to show you the seven general face, shapes and then tell you how to discover which one you have and in part two we're going to go into the best long hairstyles for each and then i'll try and bring in some examples. As well so, let's start with part one in order to figure out which hairstyle will look best for your face shape. There needs to be a point of reference, meaning something to strive for to be considered most attractive, and this idea that there is a universal standard of attractiveness is quite controversial because it means if something is attractive, something else must be unattractive. Now i don't fully aspire to this like duality belief in life, like things are either black or white. I believe there's nuance and complexity in everything and in everyone, and i think it's pretty naive to reduce the world down to one or the other. But that's what we're getting into. When we talk about this stuff - and you know, there's a reason that all the mannequins and shopping malls are the same, build and the same weight and there's a reason that disney cartoons feature princes with chiseled, jaws and large muscles and princesses with petite figures. So while people argue beauty is an eye of the beholder, why is there also a standard to strive for that's being pushed forth through? You know, entertainment, industry and fashion industry, and things like that, looking also into the science to physical attractiveness. There are many studies and papers that have shown worldwide that people find men who have average and symmetrical faces most attractive average, meaning no extreme features. Everything is an average distance from each other and symmetrical meaning. If you were to split your face down the middle, then both sides would technically be like a mirror image of each other. This also reminds me of that scene from the office when they were arguing over whether hillary swank was hot or not, and oscar, i believe, mentions the term coinophilia and he has her face like with all those lines going through it, the obvious symmetry of the face. It'S a natural appeal of the scientific standard of coinophilia features that are composite average of many features yes she's attractive, but she's, not hot. So basically coinophilia is an evolutionary argument in which sexually reproducing animals seek mates with primarily average features, because extreme or uncommon features may indicate mutations in offspring, or something like that. So there is a science of attractiveness that exists, but there's obviously much much more to attraction than purely physical features. So please do not get too caught up in this stuff. This isn't saying that if you don't meet the universal standards of attractiveness, that you're doomed forever like dating wise or sexually, because humans are emotional beings too right, chemistry, connection status, humor personality, these all play a really big role in attraction, and i also think that there Is attraction in imperfections too, because there's a uniqueness in it, so physical attraction is just one field of study. Having said that, i'll do my best to delve into all this stuff, but take all of this advice with a grain of salt and the attitude that you can actually do whatever the hell you want to do so when it comes to face shapes professionals in the Field have awarded the oval face, shape as the most attractive. This is because there are no extreme features. Everything is proportionate, it's the most average. So when styling your hair, the goal quote-unquote would be to try to make your face. Look more oval now in reality, i think most every face shape can actually look pretty average and i'm not sure how true this oval being the main standard is, but i think the main thing you will want to look out for when picking your hairstyles is just To look proportional, so if you have an extreme feature somewhere, then you can use your hair as a balancing tool to bring proportions back to the average. No matter what your face shape is so the seven face shapes are oval square triangle, round, oblong diamond and heart, and you can figure out what your face shape is by basically looking at the end points of the bones that stick out furthest on your eyebrows. Your cheeks and your jawline so basically take your fingers and touch the endpoints of your eyebrow and your cheeks and then touch the endpoints of your cheekbones and your jawline, and this combined is sort of what makes your face shape. So if you look at mine here, my index finger and eyebrows are on my thumbs and my cheekbones they're pretty even right and then, if i lower this slightly, it's a little inward. My jaw is a little further end than my cheekbone. So if you were to draw a shape around these endpoints, you know, roughly speaking, it would look sort of, like you know, a heart, so i sort of have like a heart face shape, but these are loose definitions in order to divide people up into buckets. There'S probably thousands and thousands of different face shapes if we were going to get really really specific, but for simplicity's sake, we'll just say it's a heart. I also don't have a perfectly symmetrical face. My right eye and my cheekbone are actually slightly lower than my left eye and cheekbone just slightly. So that's why i turn to the left when i take photos, because my left tends to be my good side because it has like a higher cheekbone, but that doesn't really have a whole lot to do with hairstyle. It'S just symmetry and things like that. But you can use the end point method to figure out what your face shape is so now, let's move on to part two of this video and we're gon na look at which hairstyles go best with each face shape, so men with oval face shapes, do have Sort of the widest array of options when it comes to styling as they're not having to compensate for anything make their face appear more oval because they already have the oval shape, so they can wear their hair up. They can wear it down shoulder length below shoulder length, short hair, chin, lengths, medium length, so most all hairstyles and lengths are going to look good on the oval shape. So there's not a whole lot. I have to say here you know i'd say: maybe the only thing is to try not to cover your face too much with your hair, because you want to show off your average and symmetrical face. The other most attractive face, shape on men is the square shape, but i would argue that the square is more attractive on guys than the oval, because square face shapes have really strong jawlines and they have really strong cheekbones and they're, naturally, more contoured from their bone Structure so the oval may look more average overall, but your chisels on the oval are less pronounced and men with square shaped faces, look really good with their hair kind of up and out of their face, because it shows off those features. It shows off the strong jawline. It shows off the high cheek buns. So you know you want to show off those features. If you have a square shaped face, so high balls, low balls, half buns, half ponies middle part behind the ears short hair, you know all of these are going to look really great on you and the one thing i'd say is to avoid having your hair down. In front of your face and sort of covering your jawline, although it's not totally out of play because it will make your face, look more oval, which is still attractive but showing off those chisels are going to be your edge for attraction. So the next face shape is the triangle face shape, and this is when a guy's widest part of his face is his jawline and then the second widest part is his cheekbones and then the narrowest is going to be his forehead. So it's kind of going to come out like this and then in you're not going to have a super pointy chin either. So these men can bring some proportion back by creating volume on the sides of their hair. So having long hair that reaches around their ear, lobes, not quite all the way down past their shoulders, but having more volume on your sides even like a medium cut. A shorter hairstyle with a medium cut will look really good on you, because having more volume on your sides will balance out that wide jawline and the narrower forehead. It will just make everything. Look a lot more proportioned if you grow your hair too far past your cheekbones and you wear your hair down. The weights of your hair will make it look a little flatter on top and it will widen your jawline quite a bit more so making the proportions. A little more extreme, so, if you're set on growing your hair beyond shoulder length, one style that can work for you is the conan, the barbarian look where you basically have the front curtains right here and it's sort of shorter in the front. This will keep it shorter around the forehead, which adds some visual width to that area, while the rest of your hair can still stay long and come like past your shoulders. It'S also a really strong masculine look for your chiseled jawline and then, if you wear your hair up in a bun, and this has kind of a cone head effect where you have a high ball at the point, so your best bet would be to sort of Wear a bun in a low ball and bring it back some, but keeping the length around your cheekbones keeping medium length. Having some volume on the sides is going to look best for you. The next face shape is the round face shape, and this is only different from the oval in that your face is a little bit shorter and that the features are a little less defined. Your cheeks are a little bit rounder. You won't have any strong features. Sticking out, but the circle face, shape is actually one of the best shapes to grow your hair out with because the longer your hair gets the more length you're adding and since these guys have the shortest face. The long hair really can add length and balance it out. This is also great when you're wearing a high ball you're adding length to the top, and it's a nice way to lengthen your face so for round shape faces long hair can be your best friend. The style i would avoid would be the medium length. This will add much more width to your face and since it's already the shortest you're going to start, you know getting this like sideways oval thing going just visually, so the awkward stage will probably be the most painful part of your hair growth journey, especially if you Have like poofy hair, that kind of grows outward and then will grow down eventually, but if you just hold on for a little bit, it's gon na look really really good. Okay, so the next face shape is the oblong face shape, and this is usually characterized by either a larger forehead or a longer face with a pointier chin. It'S basically like a square or oval, but with more length on the top or the bottom. If the length is at the forehead, then long hair works really well, because it adds length visually at the bottom. Also, men with a big forehead should grow a beard. It can draw the eyes away, it can make the proportions more balanced and if the long part of your face is at your chin, then wearing a high ball on top will look really great, because it adds length to the top sort of bringing some of those Proportions back so one thing to be aware of is: if you have a longer forehead and you wear a high ball, then this can add quite a bit more length to the top of your head and it will look a little bit more disproportionate, so opting for A low ball in the back or a half, bun or half pony, or something would be better if you're, trying to keep your hair out of your face. So the next one we have is the diamond face shape, and this is just the oval with a bit more pronounced cheekbones. So your cheekbones are going to be the widest part and your jawline and your forehead will be a little bit narrower, and this is also a really attractive. Look as a high and wide cheekbones are attractive on men and women, so you're quite similar to the oval. In that most lengths and styles are going to work for your face, there's nothing really that you need to stay away from. Finally, we have the heart shape, which is what i have. This is when the forehead and cheekbones are a little bit equal and then it's a bit narrower at your jawline, but long hair. That falls a little bit past. Your chin tends to look really good because it brings back some width here and it kind of makes your face. Look a little bit more oval. So i think that long hair that hits your chin or comes a little bit below also looks really good on heart-shaped guys. I also think short hair looks really good on heart-shaped guys because it really pronounces the cheekbones a little bit and if you grow a beard, it can add a little bit more length to your jawline, since your jawline is sort of the narrowest part. So i think, adding a beard to a heart shape and having long or short hair is actually really good. Look. Okay. So, having said all that my advice is still do whatever the hell you want, because at the end of the day, confidence is the most attractive cut you can wear, and this is just one field of study in a whole nuanced complexity of the human attraction chemistry That we all have so do what you guys want and i'll see you in the next video peace.

AKV THE LION: I was just about to leave the video at the intro

MJR helps to other Athletes: 6:47 oval face shape 7:21 square face shape 8:23 triangle face shape 9:59 round face shape 11:00 oblong faceshape 11:51 diamond face shape 12:17 heart shape

Sai Chandra: Dude, yours is basically THE most comprehensive guide to the current hairstyling culture. All the research that you've put into attractiveness and why fashion trends are the way they are (which I've seen no one else doing), is something worth appreciating.

percyvael: "Confidence is the best cut you can wear," -Trav White

Samo Reese: I love this discussion of beauty! So interesting and nuanced. Thanks for bringing a balanced perspective. Keep up the great content, man.

Kéninger Levente: Most people start to grow their hair out because they want to look and feel different. So going with the most proportionate look is not always the best idea. I have a diamond head shape, so my forehead (and my skull in general) is pretty huge. For so long I hated that, but at some point a started to appreciate it, and then I quickly started loving it. It gives me so much character. When I had long hair (I have shaven it because of curiosity, but Im on my way back), my favourite look was when I had a high manbun with a little hair shaven off above my burns. This style basically allowed my unique features to shine. My face wasn't proportionate, but it wasn't grotesque either. It had character. And I think that is what really matters if you want long hair

Nathan Jeffery: Great analysis around 2:30 about beauty standards. Love the sociological & scientific perspective! Also this is the best explanation I've seen of what face shapes are and how they work, especially because of the critique at the beginning/end that the whole thing doesn't really matter.

Jothi Das: I really needed this video. Right now it's been 1 year and 10 months since I have been growing my hair. This will give me a better objective on how should I grow my hair. Much love. ♥️☯️☮️

Sadie Adler: Can you give advice on how to lighten your hair without frying it? Thanks Trav for making this amazing educational content I really do appreciate the time and research that goes into your videos.

Uberto Tedoldi: Hi Trav, your videos about hair care(a little bit of the science there’s beneath, different types and how to understand your type, suggested products for each tipe etc.) are saving my life(i used to have very unhealthy hair and now it’s getting better). So i was wondering if you could do the same with skin care. Anyway ty so much for your contents

Galactix Doom: În my opinion face shape isn't affecting someone's look, i have round hair, some ppl told me i look ugly, but when i look in the mirror i can finally find a man, and a beautiful one, i always was insecure about my hair when it was short, now i am a bit but not as much as i was, i even wanted to be bald, i was that insecure about my hair.

Oblisk: Another thing I want to add that you didn’t mention is that your overall head shape can play a factor too. Because I have a mixture of an oval and round face shape, but I have a flat ass head in the back so doing short haircuts with shaved sides ain’t it for me. Makes my head look like an old military dad. But any other haircut that adds volume to my back side evens it out and looks good, which is why I’m growing my hair out lmao.

imBadman: Im a round face. I tried growing my hair many times but when im on awkward stage i cant handle it and cut it, now i got more confidence to grow it. Thanks for the advice.

xavi alonso: Hey Buddy, Travis. I loved this video the most because apart from being informative, I loved your ideology on there being a lot of grey in everything. I completely agree. I would like to send you my picture of growing hair out, my journey, if you were to want to have a look at it. Please if you could share me your email id as I dont use social media.

Sanjay Jha: Bro thank u so much regarding round face shape.. I faced awkward stage hair and most time gave up but not this time I will wait and grow both beared and long hair I am now 20 years old and a fan from India. Thank you once again for motivating me for long hairs

Sylvan Strength: Hi Trav! Victor here :) I have this interesting combination of diamond and oblong. My forehead is huge. This is really one of the main reasons I like to wear a long goatee. Thanks for the pointers!

44.Caliber Brain Surgery: I didn't care about my face shape when I began to grow my hair. I did it because of depression as a young teen and it just ended up working out for me in the long run.

Nunya: I have a very oval face shape. My hair is about half the length as yours and I always rock a ponytail, braids, or a man bun. But I have a high fade on the side so it makes my face look slimmer as. A lot of people say I look like a Samurai or a Pacific Islander warrior which is pretty cool.

Cønnør J: Your videos always grows my conference. I think that I have a round face shape, and I was worried long hair wouldn't work on me.

rick400171: I’m in that in between phase, was about to get it cut “normal” but after watching some of your videos I said hell with it, let it grow.. if I like it, enjoy it then that’s all that matters... I just subscribed, your videos ROCK IT!!

H Razo: I’m 42 and I’ve had long hair for almost 5 years now. Never had it near my shoulders my whole life. Now, people say it suits me perfectly. They can’t picture me without long hair now. I like that it suits me although bittersweet seeing as how I may have this hairstyle for life.

Loaf Of Cats: I don't care if my face fits the requirements or not, I just want to head bang in peace. Probably after 4 years I might achieve this, considering my current hair length. Nice video by the way.

Mice Ears: I don't care what my headshape is and if it fits me, ive been rocking long hair most of my life and i will keep rocking it.

Luis Galeano: thoroughly enjoy your videos bro really appreciate a account that gives advice and instructions with a grain of salt, much needed

Ramzi Khoury: Thanks for the display and the loving assessment you made at the introduction and end... Your hair looks gorgeous, love the blunt healthy ends.. I am still sticking with my lower back hair length for more than a decade .. Will check my face shape since I don't like layering

vap0rtranz: you gave me the confidence to keep going / growing! just got to shoulder length and ... had doubts. subscribed!

melanalgia: I was totally checking out Google several days ago for just the same thing. Amazing as always Trav, keep it going!

Lohith: You put everything about attractiveness out so beautifully

Erik Petrie: I'm currently in the process of growing my hair out. Not gonna go too long, just long enough to where it will turn into kind of like a shaggy haircut. I'm pretty much doing it just to see how it would look on me. If I don't like it, I can always cut it off. I would have to say my face shape is kind of oblong/upside down egg. 90% of my hair is really thick, but it does recede and in the front is kind of thin. Growing it out just long enough to where I can do the swept over bangs and have the back and sides kind of flare out. Who knows what it'll look like in 6 or 7 months?

Lachlan Wood: Once he pointed out his cheekbones being asymmetrical I couldn't unsee it

Boere Pompie: I can only talk about the body shape standard.. because that "standard" is what healthy looks like. If all characters were fat in shows then it would make people think "oh I see, so im perfect the way I am better go deepfry another burger" the truth is that people should be striving for these "unrealistic" images, because they are a lot healthier. Before people try to crucify me for fat shaming, I was also fat and now I am pretty fit and feel about 10 times better, no one who is unhealthy should just be happy with being unhealthy.

Luke Marinelli: Jim’s face in that scene gets me every time

Noah Martin: I love your videos and how much information and research you put into them. Can you make a video about the effects of hard-water on hair or on how to tame bed head?

XxWallzxX: I can't wait until I grow my hair. Also, yes on people set standards. But tastes are always different. What one sees in attractive. Another does not or sees something else as attractive. One persons 10 can be a 7 to another.

James Anthony Perez: Is it normal that hair becomes thin as you grow it out? I have long thick straight classic type of hair. I'm growing it out for 3 months now. And I notice that I can see my scalp when being directed to light. Especially at the center of the front hairline (not on temples, temples look so fine) or is it just because i have a whorl at that part? Also, I lose about 10-25 hairs every time I wash my hair. Is this still normal? Or should I consult a dermatologist? P.S. Any tips for better hair care routine? I wet my hair everyday. But only using shampoo and conditioner 2-4x a a week. Thanks for the response

Häxblod: My shape is i mix between oval and square! boosted my confidence thank you!

get rekt: i have a round face i've learned and im at the awkward stage and im split between shaving it off because i look good in bald, but i wanna see how i look in long hair because ive never had longer hair than the awkward stage D:

John Nguyen: How do you feel about a curly fringe for heart shape, I’ve had it ever since March but I don’t know if I like it anymore I feel like I look like a teenager lol

Bryan Elvis Pacheco: He made me feel good about my round face shape lol I'm gonna grow it out

Josephshiu Khiamniungan: "Best face shape for long hair" And i thought this video was about how to adjust our face structure if we got long hair.

كريم: شكرا لك صديقي

Smoothbluehero: Every single I do research into what my face shape is I come out less certain than before.

David J. Espino: Can you make a video of different buns for different hair length? And what would be the most attractive and stylish bun

benchabane hocine: Hello bro! I have a question... Let me explain first. I've been shedding for years. After more than a decade, I see some thinning on the top of my head. The strange thing is than this loss or thinning is visible on the left side unlike the right side which has more density ... I went to a dermatologist and she told me that it was androgenetic alopecia without even touching my hair... I wasn't convinced since the whole story was about shedding. It was falling like heavy rain, before shower, during and even after drying my hair. The worst I was shedding too much even from what is called " permanent zone". I did blood analysis and the surprise was " D vitamin level was very low". After starting my d vitamin replacement, I noticed a huge improvement. Hair shedding decreased a lot...after years of massive shedding!!! Now my question is: is it possible to regrow some hair or at least to improve my existing hair? How much time is needed to see the difference bro? Thanks and sorry for being too long!!

EL: Trav! You blew me away, with your distain for. "Duality"! I'm the SAME WAY! I go off a Person's Character, Personality, and HUMOR! . That's why I love the Underdog's, because they are so Unique! This was a MUCH NEEDED VIDEO! Thank You very, very much!

ArdianG: How can I find where to part my hair on both sides if I wanna get a disconnected undercut top knot?

Nabranes TwistyPuzzler: 10:39 That doesn’t look bad, and if you also get volume on the top, it will still look good.

Loki Lape: Trav your hair looks awesome in this video. Did you do anything on it like treatment, spray or something?

Faizal Mydin: Imagine rocking “Conan the barbarian” hairstyle to the office on Monday morning.

Sonic2Metro: The oval face shape was probably chosen out of the norm of that being the more average attractive face shape. It’s only until recently you get actors like Zendaya, Timothee Chalamet and Erin Moriarty who have square face shapes and have a different type of attractiveness altogether. While I agree I prefer the square shape, I have it so I’ve obtained a W, I will have to admit the Oval and Square are neck in neck in terms of attractiveness due to how the Oval also has defined cheekbones. Any person who loses weight in their oval face will effectively have defined cheekbones. So with that they both pretty much score in the attraction aspect imo.

Danny Demonic: The intro is so greet and my sentiment. No matter your face boys, grow it good and long and don’t worry about layering and framing face or crap like that. If you do worry about that stuff, Trav’s got you on advice for that too. Great video as always!

Antonio's Instrumental: Doesn’t matter! Grow it out

Phantomd8: Hah yes you were very accurate on the round face. Round face team!

Father's Tribe: Thank you, i was in the army in my country so I used to be bald, after I've lost interest in my contract i started to grow it, after 6 moths now i look like Adam Gontier.

Swapnil Karmakar: My hair started getting super dry after I made the switch to Natural shampoo from chemical shampoo is it normal or should I stop using natural shampoo for now? It has been a week since I started using natural shampoo and I used it 2 times.

Emman Zamora: So the second attractive face shape was square shape? What about those guys who have a literal square face like in minecraft?

Beeloochee Mateo: Needed this, and I haven’t even gotten to the end of the video yet

snXw: I really miss when I was like 10 percent body fat and had a square face but now my face is a circle cuz I gained some weight and I’m chubby so I’m def growing my hair out

Jorge Vallejo: New to your videos but there starting to help get a better understanding of my hair.

Kenneth De Leon: "Who cares, wear your hair how you like it"

Aston R: Bro thanks for the help...i was looking for this kind of video...thanks a lot..

Santiago RC: I've watched many of your videos... but when you talked about The Office, I subscribed automatically. Keep them coming!

bored Mockingbird: Great content

Akira Kenchie Edquiban: I have long hair now because of quarantine just need to workout more to get that jawline back oh yeah i bought that shampoo that doesn't have any sulfate thing its very effective

MattHyo: Okay, the intro went so well.

WiFi.2347: I want long hair because it is awesome and I honestly find it really attractive (also probably because I listen to a ton of rock)

Robot: If u want to do videos on what a model looks like...face structure and all that i can send u pics....because there is a notion that to look perfect u have to look a certain way ..and ive been called perfect, model, movie star a lot.....great videos as always man

Andreas Apollo: I’ve been waiting for this

Michael Rupolo: Great information it’s gonna be great to watch it love longhair

Omkar Gavate: Hairs do look bad on round face in that awkward stage , I was literally forced by everyone to cut my hairs . I could have passed that stage in couple of months

Co1onial_Fish: 3:46 If that were true I wouldn't be horrifying alone But I appreciate the message

Waqaar Shah: Hiii Trav i am 19 years old... growing my hair for almost a year now...i have fine hair almost like yours but have wavy not curly but less density nd i have a widow's peak that i think is just started... But i have really really dry nd frizzy hair especially at the back... Please give some suggestions about that I saw your video on hair types but i products you mentioned aren't available here... Please help

Kestrel: >tfw you are heart shaped but can't grow a beard. Damn these genes, I just want a beard.

Asmar Muhammad: I'm not too sure about my face shape, I believe I have round face. My face looks better the longer my hair are, so I assume my face is round shaped.

Karl: It’s so complicated working out what your face shape is

jack blount: decided not to watch it after the intro, but the intro did make me like and subscribe ;) Thanks, from a long haired comrade

Tam Tam: That intro was Perfect

Jainee: It's all down to the quality of the hair and how thick it is. When people say that long hair doesn't suit somebody its usually because the hair is thin and appears flat. The face shape thing is bs.

Mr. Jamie: When in doubt, Grow It Out.

ARGHO: Women should carefully listen to the first 5 mins of this video

Yt_Noskcaj: Every person is incredible attractive at one point in their lives
