Thanks for watching! Write to me at [email protected]

Okay, so I'm doing anything, hey guys welcome back to my Channel today. I am super excited and super nervous for this video, but today I am going to be reviewing the irresistible me moonstone. This is an automatic steam hair. Curler I've been seeing this baby around for a little bit of time. Now I watched several tutorials and reviews and most of the ones that I've seen have been more on like shorter hair or thicker hair, and so I have pretty long hair and it's all very fine. I have a lot of it, but it's very fine hair, and so I was very curious to see how it would work for my hair and I'd love the look of a nice beachy wave, but I don't have time to do it every day. Nor do I really want to put my hair through the heat every single day, but I just wanted to put to the test this very intimidating machine, and I want to put it to the test with a very basic $ 10 Conair curling wand. This is something I've had, probably for like five or six years. This is my go-to to do my like nice toss old beach waves. If I want tighter curls, I can also achieve it with this, and I wanted to see how a $ 10 tool compared to a $ 100 tool, I'm going to be testing for two things. I'M going to be testing for how fast I'm able to curl half of my head using the wand and using the steam curler, and then I'm also going to see how the curls turn out themselves. Are they going to look nice? How are they gon na hold up, and so I'm gon na be looking for those two items. I'M also going to be timeyou myself for both sides of my head to see which one is going to do the job faster. So, just a little bit of background, this is an automatic steam curler. So what happens? Is you take a piece of your hair and there's a chamber right here and it's supposed to suck in the piece of hair into the chamber you're supposed to hold it? There'S a section where you can put either water or hair product. So I'm thinking, maybe something like something like a heat. Protectant would be really good to put in here instead of water, and you can curl it with a steam function without it. I'M gon na test out both, and so this curler has several different features. You are able to control whether you want the curl to go right or left. You can choose the time. So if you want a more loose curl you're going to set it to release sooner, if you want a tighter curl you're going to set it to release a little bit later and that's indicated by some beeps and then there's a theme function and then just a Power button, so I'm going to just start out with freshly washed hair. I wash this hair last night. I slept on it, there's absolutely no product in it, which is why I have a few like flyaways and maybe hair sticking up here, but I figured on freshly cleaned hair, we're gon na see which one compares and does a better job. The instructions do say to make sure that your hair is free of tangles, and so I did do a pretty good job of combing through it, but I'm gon na do that one more time, I'm going to separate it down the middle evenly. I'M going to start my stopwatch and go ahead and hand curl the night. I love having the look of like more loose beach wave curls that fall over time, so I'm not gon na do it for too long like I don't like inch sections, I guess, and the only issue having like one hair and a tighter curling wand, is that You end up running out of space on the wand and I like way overdue for a salon appointment, because I have like three different colors in my hair from my root grow out to my own touch up to the toned bleached blonde. So, there's a whole lot going on that needs some fixing and just for comparison's sake, I'm not going to be using any hairspray on either side, because I just want to see how well they hold up without any hairspray throughout the evening. Okay, so that took nine minutes and nine seconds see how they are, what they look like, I like to brush them on just a little bit more all right now on to the fun part, haha worst case scenario: it eats my hair or it burns. It best-case scenario I can beat the curling time by half and maybe have, if not equal to the same curl, something similar. That will look great. So No all right, let's find out she's, probably unwrapped it. We had this for two days and I'm so tempted to use it, but I wanted to make sure that the first time I used it was on camera. So I can give you guys my very first impression and my thoughts on using it the first time I just kind of if it's easy, if it's difficult, so I'm going to read the instructions and make sure that I follow them so that I don't mess up. My hair, they talked about it having titanium technology, it's automatic ceramic technology, three time settings, anti-tangle, sensor, okay, well, we'll see about that: a steamer function, brushless motor 30, Watts, Universal voltage, multiple curl directions, fast heat up and then an auto shutoff for safety purposes. Boiling iron comes with like a little bottle for water, I'm assuming and there's just like a tiny little hole and put the water. So I'm going to go and do that now all right here Coast. So you have three different temperature settings that you can select and by pressing the button each time you can move it around to select either 450 410 or 380, I'm gon na start with 380, I'm going to set it at 8. Second, so you have an option of doing it for 12 seconds 10 and 8, we're gon na start with a 800 listed okay, I'm a little nervous, I'm gon na let this heat up a separate, one-inch section of your hair. Here then, maybe should watch a video on how to do this. So like like this, No things like here, I'm going to just keeps getting tangled. So I'm doing something wrong look, but at least it does have like an anti tangle function. Alright, so I am going to start my stopwatch. One thing to know is that it's very important how you position this. This black portion has to be right up against your face, just coming to my position and then Wow. I am pleasantly surprised. Let'S see I'm going to probably amp up the heat to 410, see how that works and probably the time to ten seconds. I think it gets tangled a bit more because I do have long hair um. Let me try it a little lower. Well, now, I'm going to try to seem function to see. If that does anything you know anytime. I grab my hair up here. It tingles, so I think that you can't really have super long hair, I'm gon na start about here, yeah that tends to you better. So anytime, I start up here it gets tangled, but over there it's fine. So I don't know how this is going to be Theon super long, hair, okay, yeah! I don't know that was with the steam function. I really didn't even see anything um, I'm gon na keep going and I'm actually going to amp up to 12 seconds and 450 as my temperature. So, let's see okay towards my face into the chamber here: okay, it's at the highest possible heat setting and the longest time right now and I'll study the steam setting is on. But I don't hear anything. Oh, I do see a little bit of steam. All of you can tell there's just like a slight slight amount of steam that comes off when the steam setting has turned on no this one's better. But if you can't alley towards the bottom, they really do unravel for some reason so looks like a limp noodle. I'M not a fan of that so see what I mean by like being kind of unravel towards the bottom. Usually let me show you for comparison sake. If you look at this regular curl you'll actually see that it's, even though I held out the little edges. Still it's a lot tighter than this. Let me see if I take a really small section, if I can get up to the top of my head without it, tangling point this towards my face closer to my head. Okay, that one took and again the same issue. It like unravels, first, the bottom wayde's noodles waves noodles. So I think the success of this is going to depend on the type of hair. You have the length of hair, whether your hair is thick or thin or find whatever. Maybe if I put some styling product in it, it would be better, but again I'm keeping everything neutral so that we can compare both sides. This has zero hair product in it, and this also has their hair product. This one's not bad. I'M kind of digging this one. The good thing is that there isn't any tugging, I don't feel any pulling or like hair being pulled. So that's great. I was really concerned about that, but there has been none of that so far and then like what? What is this like? What is it like? What did I do wrong? I pulled on that a little early, but look at that that actually turned out indecent. So let me try and see if I can reduce some of these guys, then you'll get better luck. If you take much smaller sections, have it the highest heat setting fifteen minutes a little over 15 minutes? I am going to go back and see if I can fix these guys up now that I kind of know what I'm doing to give it a fair shot to compete with this side. The other thing I noticed is that even when they do come out looking nice, this guy, they start to drop pretty quickly. I would say - and I haven't even pulled on them - you had these guys have kind of been pulling on him and playing around with them. So and they're staying in this shape that I want not necessarily a curl which is fine. I, like the look of where it's just like a toss: old, beachy vibe, these guys um, they maintain a curl, but then they kind of start to drop and when they drop, they don't have a shape to them. They just kind of disappear. I don't know if that makes any sense this guy is still holding on pretty well. I like this curl, but we're gon na keep going all right. Let'S see what looks better so here are my final thoughts. The moonstone is a pretty cool gadget. It looks a bit intimidating and it takes a few minutes to get the hang of it, of how to hold the barrel, how to put your hair into the chamber and just kind of how to function with it. But once you get the hang of it, it's pretty simple. However, here are my issues. I do not like the fact that if you have hair that's pretty long so at least my length, you can't really bring the chamber up any higher than I want to see about. Maybe like your ear, if you bring it up any higher, it's gon na tangle the hair, and then it automatically stops to prevent the hair from tangling inside the chamber. If I wanted to start my curl and you are higher, I'm not really able to do that. So when I curl my hair, I always tend to start it up here, because I know that they're going to fall and when they fall, I don't want the curl to be here. I don't want the curl to be somewhere around here and then go down once the curl falls. You'Ll only be able to see the curl somewhere from like the midpoint of my ear, maybe my low ear and then down below I'm not a fan of that look. The other thing that I'm not a fan of is that you have to take really thin sections, and the chamber is extremely picky on how thick of a section it can pick up, which makes sense, there's only so much space inside the chamber for the hair to Spin and do its thing so, instead of kind of like mindlessly, winding some hair around the regular, you have to be very specific and how much hair you take and how much disk I will accept and then once it accepts it, every curl turns out a little Bit different and I notice at the bottom, tend to be like flimsy little noodles, whereas these guys they definitely hold their shape more, and so I was surprised that I was able to achieve a curl that I love in a lot shorter time than this guy. Oh, you can see it's been about, so it's been like 30 minutes since I've curled this hair, absolutely no hairspray, no mousse, no hair products, zero! It'S been about ten minutes since I curled this hair, no hairspray, no product, nothing, zero! You can already see how much this side has fallen compared to this side. I feel like this side. I can wear for another day and have it look great and if I put in hairspray in it, I think it's gon na look even better this. I would not be happy with it took double the time granted. Yes, I was having like a learning curve and I had to figure out how to use this. But I think that, even if I were to go ahead and start with fresh hair again and know what I'm doing, because I have to take such tiny sections, because my hair is so long and because have to be so particular and how I placed it into This chamber, I still think it's gon na, take me double the time and at ten times the price tag. I do not think it's worth it for a girl who has super long hair and it's fine. I have seen plenty of reviews on YouTube for girls who have shorter hair and their hair is more coarse and it turns out beautiful the steam function, for my hair did absolutely nothing it let out a little bit of steam at the top, but I didn't feel Anything, nor did I see a result that was any different than when function was off on my type of hair. I did not think that this did a fantastic job. However, with that being said, I do think that this is a great tool for someone who has shorter hair and maybe a slightly thicker than mine, like if you're debating, on whether investing into an automatic curler or sticking with a curling wand. I would definitely recommend sticking to a cheaper, a wand for the price tag. I mean you really just can't beat it now. That brings me to a very exciting part. I have chosen to do a giveaway with this lovely brand new used only once here on camera with this lovely moonstone, themed, curling iron, and so even though I didn't like the way that I worked on my hair, there might be someone who wants to try it On themselves - and maybe it's a better job - and maybe your hair will look amazing, and maybe this is something that will work for you going to be having a subscriber giveaway.
