Let’s stay connected: http://www.instagram.com/alexgaboury

Today’s hair tutorial is a beautiful braided ponytail for summer 2021! This hairstyle has an easy technique that makes it great for shorter, medium, and long hair hair lengths. I’ve shared a lot of unique braids over the years, and I’ve seen them recreated and worn to proms, graduations, science fares, even weddings! I love how they make such a statement, and I hope you do too. This is one of the more difficult braids I’ve shared over the years, and I linked some other unique braids below if you’re up for the challenge!

Don’t forget to tag me in your recreations on Instagram.

Hello welcome back today, i'm sharing with you a beautiful braided ponytail. This is such a fun look for summer or for special occasions, but i'm gon na break it down step by step and make it nice and easy i'll also link some more unique braids that i've shared throughout the years down below, and i've seen these worn to Proms weddings homecomings, they make such a statement. I love it and i hope that you do too alright. So, let's get started when braiding i like to apply dry shampoo to add some grit and i've been loving this one from moroccan oil. It'S very lightweight no residue and just the perfect amount of texture, oh and it smells so good so begin by gathering all the hair above your temples on the top of your head and completely section it off now before securing it. I like to place two clips on that lower section. It is optional, but this really helps to prevent your sections from tangling and causing breakage okay tightly secure the top section and try to secure it nice and close to your head and for a more lived-in look. Just pinch and pull on small sections at the top amazing next clip your ponytail up out of the way and then remove those lower clips and then gather all the hair from just below your temples, completely sectioning it off, and i'm just using a wide tooth comb To help smooth out my sections next tightly secure section and i was able to wrap my elastic around three times and again, secure it nice and close to your head now you can keep it tight for that. Sleek look, but you know me, i just gently pulled on the sides to loosen them up clip the second ponytail up out of the way and for the next section gather all the hair above your ears, leaving out any small pieces to frame your face once secure Clip it up out of the way and if you're creating this on someone else, you can just have them hold those pieces. Now i created two more ponytails one with all the hair behind my ears and then one with all the hair at the nape of my neck, for a total of five. You can gather as many or as little amount of sections as you like, but i'd recommend at least three brush through your ponytails. Add some more dry, shampoo and it's time to braid. Now it's a three strand pull through the pattern is quite simple. The first ponytail will section into three and the second into two take your first ponytail starting on the right section off the outer one. Third, placing it out of the way then section off the outer right, half of your second ponytail and hold it. In your right hand, and then divide the remainder of your first ponytail into two and take the remainder of your second ponytail and bring it up in between those two top sections. So your first ponytail is divided into three going down and your second ponytail is divided into two going up in between your sections like this sounds way more confusing than it is. I promise, but that's the pattern now take those two sections clip them up out of the way and then tightly secure those three sections to your third ponytail nice and close to your head: all right to give your arms a shake and time for the next section. Unclip those top two pieces from earlier and then starting on the right section off the outer one. Third of your hair from your third ponytail hold it in your right hand and then drop your right section from your second ponytail then divide the remainder of your third ponytail into two and then drop your left section from your second ponytail in between those sections. So this time you should have two sections going down and three sections going up now: clip those three sections up out of the way and then secure those lower two sections to your fourth ponytail. Okay, you see the pattern coming together, so unclip those three sections from earlier - and this part is the easiest - just divide your last ponytail in half bringing both halves up in between your sections and then just clip those two sections up out of the way now take Those lower three sections and tightly secure them to your last ponytail. So you can stop here, but i want to continue down my ponytail for the full effect, so unclip your top two pieces and then section off your outer third of your fifth ponytail and then hold it in your right hand, dropping that right, half and then divide The remainder of your fifth ponytail in half dropping your left section in between those two sections. So now you should have two sections going down and three sections going up so same pattern as the top now clip those three sections away and secure your two sections together. Now, before continuing this pattern, it's time to pancake the braid - and this is when it all comes together. So gently press, your fingers on your second ponytail and begin pinching and pulling the outside sections of your top braid and then gently press on your third ponytail and begin pancaking. Your second braid - and you want to continue this all the way down and i'd, recommend starting small and then working it larger. Alright, how cool does this look already, but we can go bigger, so really get in there and try to gently pull on every piece of hair to really make it pop, and i try to make mine as symmetrical as possible. I love this so once you're happy with it just continue the same pattern as far down as you like divide your lower section into two clipping them up and then secure your three together and if your hair is shorter, you can clip your sections together on top. Instead of clipping them up out of the way and as you're moving down, i find it easiest just to pancake as you go, and this will also help prevent your layers from coming out once you've reached the bottom. Pat yourself on the back - and i just left my ends - hanging out and they'll stay nice and secure. So there we have it. How beautiful is this braid? I can't wait to see your recreations now. This is definitely one of the more trickier braids that i've shared. So if you found this difficult, keep on practicing practice on a friend or better, yet share this video with them and just have them create it on you. But if you liked today's video, please give it a thumbs up subscribe and thank you so much for watching i'll talk to you next time. Bye,
