[ Applause ], you know it seems, like you know, having natural hair is like being on punishment or something like that. It'S like you can't even enjoy your hair, Hey Pixies! What'S poppin hello, everyone welcome back to my channel. My name is Kea. If you're new here then welcome and if you're a returning subscriber, then hey boo, how let me know so so, as you guys can see by the tone of this video, I am going to be telling you guys the quickest way to escape the awkward length of Your natural hair journey, but the first thing you want to do so if you're not subscribe to my channel subscribe to my channel, join the pixie party and the pixie clique, because any of the Pixies will let you know that we get it poppin. Okay, can you guys hear me good? The first things. First, look at the hair list get in to this hair. Shouting the only thing about this hairstyle is. It illustrates the point that I have for this. Video of you know basically leaving your hair alone, because this is a takedown of some box braids that I did and it's actually my wash day. So I just kind of fluffed my hair out took it down like took some pictures, there's some tic TOCs and I'm bout to go wash my hair, because, even though my hair is really soft and moisturize and it looks good - and I could wear this for a Couple of days, I'm not gon na wear this for a couple of days, because what do we not do skip wash day now, if I absolutely had to because my hair isn't a good stay in a good condition. I could just you know, like stretch it out. A little bit longer, but I'm at home, I have the time to wash my hair, so I'm just gon na go ahead and wash my hair, and that's just that one that I suggest you guys do the same. Even though sometimes you can stretch your hair out. It might not always be the best thing for your hair as far as you know, retaining length and getting that moisture in because a lot of times, especially if you have low porosity hair, your hair just needs to be cleansed and reset. So, even though our natural hair is beautiful and magical and wonderful and all of these types of things, sometimes growing and caring for your natural hair can be a struggle and a challenge, especially if you do a big chop and you're going through, like the different phases Of your natural hair and stuff, like that, sometimes it can be like pretty hard to kind of like catch. Your look or kind of like get into a flow of your styling, because I hate doing and not perfecting it because I know for me when I went from you know a bald and went through all of those stages. It was almost like every single month. I felt like I had to do something different to my hair, or there was another challenge added to my hair because it was growing. Yet it was at you know such a short length or at an awkward limp. Now, I'm all here for embracing your natural hair. I'Ve been natural, my entire life, I've never had any like. You know, chemical relaxers, or anything like that on my hair. However, just because you embrace your hair and embrace your beauty, it doesn't mean you have to 100 % like yourself in every face. Listen, I feel like a lot of people, like it kind of you know bullied into sending that message, because I hear girls who have you know done their big chop and they're, probably in like an awkward phase to where it was like cute. When I first cut it, but then it's kind of like I don't know what to do. I don't know if I'm really feeling this and they always want to give disclaimers like it's nothing. I don't like my hair or something I don't. You know love my hair. Oh, I know my hair is beautiful, like that's not what we're talking about cuz see me I'll, tell y'all I'll, let y'all know I didn't feel cute. That was ugly at some points in time. To me, my hair itself was that ugly. No, because I have pretty hair - and I know I'm not ugly, but the combination of the length and the look it just wasn't doing it for me and I didn't feel my cutest and that's okay. If you're cool with your awkward length and if you want to you, know embrace it to the fullest, you know that's fine, but this is for the people that you know kind of want to get out of that awkward length stage and don't necessarily you know, like The looks that it's serving them - and I was one of those people you think they else will don't bring that you now my biggest tip for you know growing your hair, you know quickly and retaining lid and getting out of the aqua phase as fast as possible. Is to leave your hair alone and I've been wanting to do a video about you know what it actually means to leave. Your hair alone, like I was thinking about making this a whole separate video, like a title like when people say, leave your hair alone. What do they really mean? Because it doesn't really mean just like neglect, your hair. Don'T do anything to your hair. No, it means engage in protective styling. You know stretch styles, that you know don't include heat and then doing styles that keep your hair from tangling, which adds to breakage and excessive shedding, which will cause you not to get out of that awkward phase as quick as possible. For me, what I've done is you know a lot of protective styling when I was in that phase, so y'all know I did a lot of wigs and box braids. Those were my go-to, however, with wearing those my box braids, I only wore for a week, maybe and a big heart on them, maybe maybe a week and a half, because for me I wash my hair every week. I don't care if I just got the style done. My friends, you know they talk about me and say you just got that in your hair and you're literally about to take it out, and I'm just like yes, because I need to wash my hair because I'm protecting my hair throughout the week, but comes Saturday Sunday. Whatever it is, I need to wash my hair and that's just that on that there's no way around it. Now, wigs you can, you know you can be a little more flexible, because all you got to do is basically, you know just put some cornrows and your hair, and then you know if you're able to take your wig on and off which I suggest like doing Like the elastic band method, so that's your wig, you know lace, flesh, foot thing, you're still able to care for your hair under it. I would just take a spray bottle and my moisturizer just how I do now after I've washed and deep conditioned my hair. I spray my hair moisturize it and I do that either every day or every other day, and so that's what I would do to care for my hair under my wigs and I saw a lot of growth and progress with doing so. Ah, when people say leave your hair alone, you still have to care for your hair. You still have to do things to your hair, but leave your hair alone means don't be doing twist. Outs, don't be trying to slick your hair up and you know a puff or a knot or a bun or every single day, like you can't be doing stuff like that, you can be. You know, don't whoops, whoops and stuff like that. Why do we keep doing it? Why you're going this way like no Chinese baby down this you keep on? I wouldn't like? No, no you cuz. Are you gon na be upset you're gon na be having your feelings hurt because you're trying to do too much to your hair and you're, not giving your hair a chance to just grow because manipulation and growth don't always go hand in hand, lower manipulation for a Lot of people and everyone's different, but lower manipulation for a lot of people is really going to make or break you when it comes to retaining length along your natural hair journey. Another thing I know I talk about all the time, is you know not running to stretch your hair or wear your hair out, and you know do different styles on your hair all the time because I get it when you get progress when you cut your hair, Is like okay, you were bald and your goal is to grow your hair. So it's like you want to show it off. You want to let everybody know like look how long my hair is my hair getting long my hair getting longer. So it's like you want to stretch it out at every state like every time you get a little half an inch of hair or something like that. You want to show it off, but that is also going to be to the detriment of your growth and retention. Everyone always comes up with the argument. Like you know, it seems, like you know, having natural hair is like being on punishment or something like that. It'S like you can't even enjoy your hair, but no like that's not the case, because a lot of people are going for a certain look which is longer natural hair and I'm just telling you this is what you have to do to get there now. You can't sit there and do things that are contrary to you, know your length being retained, and then you know get upset when your hair results are not where you want them to be. A lot of us need to learn how to listen to our hair and do what it needs instead of doing what we want to do to our hair. All of the time you can do what you want to your hair. Yes, however, that might not get you to your hair goals. The quickest, if you want to just, enjoy your hair along the way, do what you want to do to your hair, and you know let the growth comments. That will that's fine, but if you're trying to see you know faster results and more retention, protective styling keeping your hands out of your hair, just making sure your hair is properly moisturized and that you are on a schedule routine. With your hair, it's gon na be your best bet for growing your hair. Long now, y'all know I have my brand in business. It'S called kinky you and kinky. You was created to educate everyone regarding all things: natural hair care and our next webinar is coming up on June, the 12th and I'm gon na have my homegirl Janelle acquirer as our special guest and we're gon na be talking about overcoming natural hair setbacks. So if you're in this room that you bleached your hair, you've done something to your hair, you've damaged your hair with heat things of that nature, we're gon na be showing you, you know: how do you overcome natural hair setbacks to get your hair back reset and Back on a path of growing your natural hair, this is gon na, be volume 3 of our hair growth series, and we had two prior series about why your hair isn't growing and also learning your natural hair. I also offer consultations on my website at kinky. Haircare calm, because a lot of people tell you, you need to learn your hair to grow it, but nobody tells you what that actually means. So because of that, I'm going to be offering you know, like hair mapping, hair coaching things of that nature. I'Ve already had like some really great consultations, so you really want to make sure you book your consultation, so you can get yourself well on your way to growing and learning your natural hair, so you can be your own hair goal. So you feel me when you find something that works for you for your hair. Stick to it at least for a while, when you're trying to focus on growth and length retention, because, obviously, when your hair is longer, when you have a little bit more hair to play with, then you can play with it. But if you don't got that much hair and your goal is growth, just saying that into play with, like you really do just have to like. You know, fine styles, that work for you that are protective and keep you from manipulating your hair too much. However, they still allow you the access that you need to care for your hair throughout the week, because you still do need to you know, touch your hair. Your hair needs to be touch. It needs to be spritz soon, as you spray it down with water. You need so you know, touch it up with some moisturizer, which is water or water-based products and then hit it up with some oil see right now. My hair just came out of these braids and my hair is by no means dry. Like literally, I have you know that type of hair where it's like, if your hands is ashy and you put your hands in your hair, you gon na be good because you got some lotion right there. That'S what I'm working with okay now y'all know me. It'S all been following: my hair journey y'all see what I've been doing and stuff like that with my hair, and I guess I get it sometimes it's hard. Sometimes it's a struggle. Sometimes you don't feel like you look that cute. I know I've personally been there going from having long hair then having short hair, which was cute but then having awkward length hair, which was not okay. It was about a year that I didn't really wear my hair out at all. I just really strictly were box. Braids and wigs and stuff like that, and I kind of used to feel you know bad because I didn't like the length of my hair and I never bore you know weave because I had to. I never put you know, extensions and stuff in my hair because I had to it was because I wanted to, but when it was at that awkward length, I was like what what am I gon na do like I'm, not gon na wear my hair. Oh, I could barely put it in a pony, so I'm gon na be looking crazy. I'M not trying to do the whole half-up half-down thing like certain stuff is just not my style, so it's just like okay! Well, I'm putting these box braids, I'm gon na put it in this wig. It is what it is and then you know I'm gon na just have to let my hair chill out for a second and yes, I did feel kind of tied to those hairstyles. That'S not gon na be everybody's story. Yes, if I had some of our hair out, I will wear it out, but I do long to cuz. It wasn't cute to me and that's: okay, did you see this? You see this. You see this right here. Does that split right there, that's the split! You know the objects in the mirror, like might seem a little closer like what they appear. So you know we got a little live leonie's in our way, using our way on down at any length cuz. You know I'm excited, but city lit oh titty length, ah what um she'll anyway. So this is a boat. You know two and a half years of hair growth and hair care, but yeah that's pretty much. It hope y'all, like this video, if you like this video share this video share with somebody else, hope they helped you. You know it's really simple. Sometimes you just have to leave your hair alone, but that still means just finding what works for you and caring for your hair in the process, and you will be well on your way to getting out of that awkward phase. I got so much done so much for tuning into this video, don't forget to Like comment and subscribe. Bye, Lea girl, Kea on instagram @ Kea Karamu follow my brand page at kinky dot!
