All you need for a quick new look is a handful of run-of-the-mill bobby pins.

Step 1: Do the supermodel poof

Why fool around? Unless you’ve got short bangs, go straight to the supermodel poof. Gather a one- to two-inch section of hair from the forehead, brush it back, lift, twist, and push the resulting poof forward. Tease a bit from the back for extra height, and secure with bobby pins. A spritz of hairspray will help keep your look sleek.

Step 2: Create a half updo

Pull a section of hair from the forehead straight back and criss-cross two bobby pins to hold it in place at the back of the head. Then take a section of hair on the right and left sides of the head, cross them over the bobby pins, and pin them to the crisscross with upward-facing pins.

Tip

Bored of your bangs? Comb them back, secure with bobby pins, and cover them with a wide headband.

Step 3: Make an edgy, messy bun

Apply styling gel or mousse to damp hair, pull into a high ponytail, and divide and twist into three sections. Bring each section back to the ponytail base, and secure with a bobby pin. Loose hairs? That’s part of the style!

Did You Know?

The term 'bobby pin' was coined in the 1920s in reference to 'bobbed' haircuts then popular with the flapper set.

Cas_SarahA: I have really thick hair too and it used to get that dull look. I started using Palmer's Olive Oil Formula Spray oil and Optimum Oil Therapy shine booster. Does wonders! The olive oil actually keeps your hair healthy and stays nice and soft! :) These are some really cute styles! Might get bored and try them later :)

endraka: I love the last hairstyle!! I am soooo trying it thank u!!

Christy Thomas: I love how the bun looks on me! I feel so cute! :3

Drizzle: i love these and they are so easy!!

Boonah: note: you shouldnt use mousse, it dries your hair out

Caitlin Pierce: I love how everyone connects the poof to snooki, as if it wasnt popular way before her. And I'm pretty sure she uses a bump-it

harasllekrad: Beautiful! Well said! it just might rub people the wrong way if you do it like this.

Monica Swanson: I know! I've watched the "divide and twist" part I don't know how many times, but it goes too fast...my hair looks awful when I try and do it on myself.

AastryBrocolirose: It's funny. Now people start to use "cute" instead of "sexy". Had this video been posted a year ago, the title would've been "How To Use Bobby Pins To Make Three Sexy Hairstyles"... The fashion of words is amusing to observe sometimes. ^^ (omg I sound nerdy... lol)
