Hey guys welcome back if you're new, here hi hello, welcome. My name is Savannah. Welcome to my channel go ahead and click that subscribe button right now and we're gon na jump right in so, as you guys can tell by the title of today's video, I'm gon na, be showing you guys how I perm my hair for the third time. I do have two other videos, showing you guys how I perm my hair on my channel. Those other two videos are more in depth: the more informational. This is kind of like a quick tutorial, this video right here. So, if you're looking for a more in-depth, more informational video go ahead and check out those videos, the other two videos that they have, I will link them down in the bottom bar for you guys so yeah. This is how my hair looks right now before the perm. This is how I know I got a perm, my hair cuz. The bottom of my hair will be looking like this really straight. So supplies are gon na need is gon na, be the salon care, reinforced. Cotton coil - I usually just get a huge box of this and it'll last me for like three perms. These are the perm rods, I'm using, I use the gray and the white ones. I think these are 3/4 inches. I'M not sure those will also be linked in the bottom bar for the actual perming solutions. I will be using the one and only exothermic perm and the one, and only alkaline, moisturizing alkaline perm this time, I'm using two perms and the other two videos. I only used one perm, not much of a difference but we'll get there. You guys will also need some jumbo and wraps. I also get like a really big box of these too, because they last me forever. So the first thing you're gon na want to do is wash your hair, obviously you're, gon na start off with really clean hair. I like to normally wash my hair twice and then don't condition just because you want your hair to be in its most natural state. Whenever you're perming we're also going to be using super small sections of our hair for the wrapping process, you do need to work with very small sections of here. Like super small, like this um. This is what takes the longest, and this is why it because you work with such small strands of hair you're gon na want to make sure that your hair is wet. Then you're gon na take a jumbo and wrap wrap it around your hair, like a little taco use the spray bottle to kind of wet it get all the ends in there at the same time, and then you're gon na take a rod and start to roll. It so with this rod I am going under, I do go back and forth with rolling over and under over and under, and then I also alternate between white rod and gray rod. They are both the same size of rod, so I don't think it really makes a difference. I don't think I always. I don't see a difference. I burn my hair. I'Ve been using the same rods for three years. I'Ve been using the same technique for three years yeah, so this is just how I do it. I'M taking strand by strand make sure that your strands are small enough to go around the rod to where there's not too much hair. My hair, since it's super long by the time I roll my hair, all the way up to the root, there's a good amount of hair on the rod. You don't want too much hair around the rod just because you want the perm solution to be able to soak through that entire rod, like all your hair wrapped around that rod, since my hair is super long, it's kind of difficult for me. So I have to take extra small sections of hair, but just kind of wing it you know, depending on the thickness of your hair, the length of your hair and all that good stuff. Again, by the time you get to the middle section of your hair, it's gon na be maybe a little dried out, so just make sure that your hair is wet. It does need to be wet during this entire process. This is the longest part of the perm. This is like the most time-consuming part is just wrapping your hair. I know my other two videos. I had somebody helping me, which was very nice this time. I'M writing solo. I still got done in a pretty decent amount of time. I would say I think the whole wrapping process took me about an hour, but the actual perming process itself takes about 20-30 minutes tops like it's just this part right here. So if you can persevere and get through the wrapping process, you're good, okay, don't give up! You will get frustrated. I promise you make you a good margarita, put on a good TV show, put on some good music do something to relax yourself and just wrap away and again I do have two other videos showing a more in-depth tutorial on how I perm my hair. So if you guys want to check those videos out, they will be linked down in the bottom bar. So look how cute you look after you finish: wrapping off your hair. Aren'T you cute, I know right so now we're gon na. Take this a lawn care, reinforced cotton. Coil again I get a really big box of this cuz. It lasts me forever. This is the third perm that it's lasted me through, and I ran out right after this perm, so it lasts you a pretty decent amount. If you just buy the bulk right away, I like to measure it around my elbow to my hand twice that way. It can wrap around my hairline twice as well so now. This is what I'm doing, I'm just wrapping it around my hairline doing this will prevent any perming solution or any damaging chemicals to get onto your skin, possibly into your eye. Whatever the case may be, it just is really a safety measure. I guess oh yeah look at that so now we're actually gon na move on to the perm itself, so I'm gon na be using two like I said, the moisturizing alkaline perm and the exothermic perm they're, both from one and only this is the only brand. I use just because I feel like it really doesn't dry out my hair. I feel like it really is moisturizing. They have argan oil in their products. So it's really very nice. The first perm that I'm using is the alkaline perm, which is the blue box, and the first thing that you're going to use is the waving lotion. At least that's what my box says. So you're gon na want to cut off the top and then apply it to your hair. If you're, only using one box of perming stuff, you're gon na just want to do it all over your head, my kind of thing was try to focus the alkaline on the top of the head, and then the exothermic will focus on the bottom of the head. Don'T ask me why that's just how I wanted to do it? Okay, so that's what I'm doing and then Here I am getting ready for the exothermic waving lotion so for the exothermic you kind of have to make a little mixture. So you have to pour like a little bottle of the stuff that makes it hot. That'S what I call it into the waving lotion and then you close it up, you shake it up, and then you apply it to your hair. So really not much of a difference. It'S the same thing. It'S still a waving lotion. You still apply it to your hair. I did read both the boxes and the time on both of them was the same because they are both self stopping. So they won't like over perm your hair they'll stop on their own after I think 20 or 25 minutes, I'm not really sure. So I'm just applying this to all of my bottom rods and I think the Box said to save like a ounce or something of your waving lotion. Look at me reading the box, which everybody should do. Read your box everybody's like how do you do perm so easy? I hate the box, that's all I do literally anybody can do a perm. Just read your box and then you're gon na want to let it sit for. However long the box says, every box of perm will come with this cute little plastic head wrap and you will just leave it on your head. Let it set and then you will rinse your hair with, I think lukewarm water, depending on your box again and then you're going to want to make sure that you squeeze out as much water as possible from your rods and now we're gon na. Do the second step for the firming process again getting some coil wrapping it around the hairline twice and then we're going to take the neutralizer each box will come with neutralizer cut off that tip and then you're going to apply it to each one of your rods. Every time you apply something to your rods, make sure each one is saturated. Like saturated, you want to make sure that every strand of hair is being touched by everything that you're putting inside your hair. Then we're gon na go ahead and take out the coil and look we're done so now we're going to take out all of the hard work that we put into it. We get to unwrap all of these rods and the perm is pretty much complete. Again read your box. Whatever your box says, please do so. I always get the self stopping action ones, so it won't over perm my hair or damaged my hair. A wave check is not needed because it's doing its job on its own make sure you're reading how long to rinse your hair with what kind of water you're rinsing your hair just follow the steps and take them very literal. You really cannot mess up on a perm like an at-home perm. If you just follow the box again, I do have two other videos that will be linked in the bottom bar. If you want a more in-depth video in-depth tutorial about what I did and yeah. This is how it looks when I'm done after you're finished unwrapping off the rods. The curls are gon na look very, very tight once you finish the perm. That is completely normal. It will not stay like this. I do not pull my curls apart until 48 hours. You do have to let your perm sit for two days, so no shower no shampoo. You can take a body shower with the shower cap, but you cannot wash your hair, which i think is the only downside to getting a perm but yeah. So just leave your curls as tight and kinky as they are like this and don't touch them. Try not to touch them for the 48 hours, because I promise you it's gon na stink and it's going to get really frizzy. So here I am a couple days after my perm and I wanted to show you guys how it kind of looked after the prime itself, so I'm just putting some products in my hair. I did change up my hair routine, so if you guys would want a video on what I use for my perm I'll leave a comment down below I'll be glad to make that video for you after I put all my sprays and all my serums, all my Oils and everything: this is how it looks right here. Normally, if I were to be going out, I would put some type of mousse in it or some type of curling cream. I like to kind of give it like that, stick and stay kind of fill, but I'm just going to bed right now, so I just put some good products in it and I'm off to bed. This is how it looks when I style it. Look at me sitting in the car car selfies are life that is it for this video guys. Thank you. So much for watching and I'll see you in the next one bye,

MsKaseyy: I love how you film yourself doing it every time.. I will watch all of them.. Final product looks amazing. I got my perm re done a few days ago also, feeling like a new woman ‍‍♀️

tino: I have naturally VERY curly hair, I can't even calculate how much money I've spent on straightening it lol. I've been wearing it curly since covid, I like it.

body4sal: Savannah your perm looks fantastic!! Impressive wrap by yourself. Do you cut it after the perm? Do you cut layers or do you just keep it all one length? The only thing better than a fresh perm is fresh cut bangs :)

Layla Norris: this was very clear and understandable, thank you!!!

Anne Alog: Hi Savannah I’m new to your channel and I will definitely try to do my own perm as I’m inspired with your video. I will order my perming solutions at Sally’s now as it’s not available here in UK .

Kellett Taylor: Very motivational! I’m ready to give myself a perm now!! So tired of this straight limp hair.

cindy nguyen: I’ve really been wanting to perm my hair and have been growing it out since I last dyed it to prepare for it. I was thinking of going to a salon to do it but this video made it look so easy! Now I wonder if I should try it at home I’m so scared I’ll mess it up

Luana Sofía Jiménez Gonzáles: So beautiful and natural!!!! You are really good!! .

Joan Young: Looks very nice! Great job

Lovelyjakemusic 100: glad you can do this at home, i was going to get one at the salon but now literally everything is closed bc of corona thanks haha

Yasmine Yaiche: I’m transitioning back to my curly hair and the straight parts I spent years relaxing is really annoying me now lol I’m too impatient to wait for it to grow out so figured I curl it again. How do you manage to put the perming solution on the rods without it touching your scalp?

michelle cruz: Amazing results. I just got a perm down at the salon. Don’t like the results. Wish I would’ve seen this video. Definitely trying it again.

𝐹.𝐵.𝐼 𝒢𝐼𝑅𝐿: IT CAME OUT SO BEAUTIFUL, AND YOU EXPLAINED EVERYTHING SO CLEAR, WISH SOMEONE, WERE I LIVE COULD DO THAT TO MY HAIR!! RIGHT,LIKE U MENTIONED ON YOUR OLDER VIDEO YOU MIGHT NOT BE A "PROFESSIONAL" WITH A NAMETAG ON YOUR SHIRT. YOU ARE WAYYYYYYYT BETTER!!! NEW SUBSCRIBER

Rachel perez: You’ve convinced me to get a perm but I wish you could do it I don’t trust myself

Fantasmagal 5: Followed this today lmaoooo it came out pretty nice!!

Hannah Marie: I’ve permed my hair at home twice each a year apart. But both times my hair was bleach damaged so the perm didn’t want to take on the damaged parts. Now I’m just growing it out but I want to perm it so bad !! I love curls

Goldie Hoffman: I've watched tons of perm vids and yours literally came out the best and most natural and pretty looking! 2 quick questions for you: 1) how straight is your natural hair? 2) do you dye your hair/ any highlights, roots etc? I've read so many do's/don'ts about coloring and perms in terms of which to do first and it's all over the place and contradictory depending on who you ask. so what do you think? should you color before or after getting a perm, and if so, how long should you wait in between the perm and getting it dyed / or if you advise the opposite order (perm 1st, then color after), then how long to wait after getting it dyed and then getting the perm, etc. any advice about that stuff? thanks so much!

shining star: Very informative video you look beautiful!

Lexie Gilmore: If you wanna perm your own hair buy warm and gentle from Sally’s and if it’s colored warm and gentle for color treated hair . Best perm possible . Does not ruin hair . I have platinum blonde and I’ve used it many times . If you buy the wrong perm it can burn off all of your hair . Sally’s or a professional is your best choice , I am a licensed cosmetologist and I know some people don’t wanna spend a lot of money to get it done if they can do it themselves but just don’t shop at Walmart for perms because that’s absolutely a no no . Someone I knew who had virgin brown hair attempted herself and came to school next day with a pixie cut because it burned her hair off completely

Lucy: Looks gorgeous

Dainty Abby: Beautiful family. Your hair turned out super natural

Nico Robin: Thank you so much. You're a life saver! ❤️

Chiquita88: Love your tutorial! I'll be brave and try it!

Sophia Feng: Looks great. Thanks for sharing.

Bekah Andreasen: Omg your hair looks beautiful

Tina tankersley / robinson: Your a cutie pie, hello from Florida.. and you did a excellent job.. great video. Definitely going to perm my hair asap... So bored during this lockdown.. covid 2021

bloom: I have a question.....can you leave the perm rods in your hair overnight and then do the perm the next day for more defined curls?

CajunPride: This takes me back to when I was younger and would let my mom perm my hair..

kalicer: Eres muy bonita y con tu nuevo cabello te ves reluciente y muy guapa. Saludos desde Perú, gracias por tu video.

James Jones: Very Very Beautiful !!!

Roxanne Sterling-Falkenstein: Have you ever let your hair dry in the curlers at the end? I am afraid my hair will resist the perm because my hairdresser said so years ago. Taking the curlers out while hair is still wet worries me somehow Your video was the best one so far with a real person, doing a good job by themselves! Real curious what you think.

BlendedBeautyXO: My hair is naturally suuuper curly, but my curl pattern is very inconsistent from straightening it, so I’m considering getting a perm of giving myself one

Britzo fire: Wow it looks amazing

Vanessa Nowak: How long does the perm last ?

Madlen J.: omg exactly two years later i see this video! Look at all the two´s in this Date. Crazy. Now i also watched the 21 Edition, And the result was even better than this one. i wonder how orange perm rods would look on your hair, only used as non permanent style, so without perming lotion, just hairgel in every wet strand and then curled around the orange perm rod. How we would use it fro a special occasion..or not even special (i think about doing this every week once ). There are so many Videos from afro american hair and the orange perm rods look so pretty on it! The prettiest from all of the rods. But there are no Videos of how orange rods are looking on straight hair with gel.Could you try this? :-)

Saman Jan: What size rods did you use? Love this size of curles

Rai Hanah: how long does the perm last?

Mirjam: How long do the curls last?

Danni Alise: do you put anything on it after the perm is done or do you just keep it wet?

Ester Procopio: Hey I was wondering around how many perm rods do you use?

Y. C.: I would love to get a perm done!! By the way the doggie super cute, for a moment there i thought it was my dog I get her hair styled the same way.. lol..

Susan Perron: I'm going to braid my hair and then put the perming kit on. Comes up kinky that way it looks so nice

Nicole Gina: Is your hair extremely damaged after this? I’m scared to do one cause I heard it’s just as bad or worse than bleach. Also, is your naturally straight?

ariana gallegos: how long does it last ?

Laisha: how long does it last?

zepedamariah 187: How long does it last ?

Tuxedo cat: Amazing. My hands are so bad from Arthritis. I wish you could do them also.

jc m: Should I use clarifying shampoo (no conditioner) when washing the hair before perming? I'm going to perm my son's hair and he uses a lot of hairspray this week, except for the last 2 days.

Talyanna Devino: this looks so good! I will be getting a perm on Thursday but I am nervous that it will come out ramen noodlely. Do you know what size rods you used?

frank janvari: Great job how long did it take to put all the perm rods in ? Please kindly reply back ok?thank you very much

Tracy Garner: Make sure you check don't just leave it. My hair perms in 5 mins and will burn.

Jill Anderson: My beautician has said perms have been out of style for years. So, I've used a curling iron for beach waves for 6 years. I'm not liking the damage it's done.

miwa key: Wow, so easy.

Diana Patrick: What happens if your curls go flat after day one of doing it ? Will your hair go back to curly once wet ?

availablesmiles: Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cindy Alcantar: I did it myself but I only did the tips incase I fucked up I could just chop it off but it came out amazing thanks to her tips

mela!: i love how tight they looked when you took them out

MJ Balangue: What shampoo did you use before perming?

Adelia Reyes: Hi, where do you buy your perming rods? Which brands do you recommend?

Desa B: How long have you been doing perms for ?

Donna Stapleton: I thought according to reading the non instructions on the confusing box that i wassupposed to rinse out the wave lotion before putting in the neutralizer

Love Vibes: wonderfull i love this video. ❤❤❤

Alaina Ortiz: Do you still have a perm? How often do you reperm

gaby79nl: Wow lovely perm on your self, looks very nice, how was the smell of the lotion? Impressive you roll your hair in the rods yourselfs but great result Thanks for sharing

Tania Marques: You have convinced me to get a perm l am going to a hairdresser on Saturday for a spiral perm

Maya Spelleken: This looks awesome.. But can you tell me if you color your hair before or sometime.. Because if someone does the same with damage hair the hair fell off maybe?

Renisa Ramsahai: Hey how long did it last ?

EK. L: Do you have to have paper between the rod and the hair?

Ness Gonzales: Girl I’m waiting on your hair routine video.

Tina Hewlett: Do you dye your hair regularly? I've been advised not to perm because I dye my hair.

Brenda Perez: Hi there, thanks for the video. Planning on doing mom's hair for xmas, needed a video. By the way You might want to sage your home sweety. You have a spirit around you. I saw Orbs around you @2:29 swirls around you right when you looked at your doggy. Hugs.

Kalifa Morgan: So what do you do to maintain it? And how do you sleep on it?

Cheshma Patel: Is this permanent curling or one time wash curl?

Jackie Sanchez: Great video !!

Melinda Burnside: GOOD JOB

Donna Stapleton: My hair is dued tho and previiously relaxed so thats the hard part im so afraid to rinse it out this time etc

Stephanie Rodriguez: Can I do the perm with 1 1/2 inch curls?

cecilia leon: Just to insure that curls will develop. Would Rolling the rods on and sleeping with them for a night help? afterwards in the morning you wet the hair & then add all the solutions .?

Lucy Pre: No ones gonna mention the orb anyway great video ill definitely be getting mines done. I have curly hair but from straightening to much i now have wavy and curly hair.

Steph R: How long do you have to wait to do another perm?? So say if I did one yesterday and dint like that it's not that curly how long do I have to wait to be able to apply a second??

Camille Hinkle: Hi Savanah, I am going to do this, but my question is how would a person know what kind of perm to purchase. I am thinking I will just go with the Blue Box the One and Only. Should this work on most peoples hair. My hair is fine with no body but I have a lot of it. I was going to use light orange rods which are 5/8" or 16mm if you prefer. Dont really want to mess with lots of different sizes. What do you think

tiktok mashupss: Thank u for the video but I had the same box and looked this up because the wording is so small I was hoping you would say what the box said as far as each step and how long to leave on. So just friendly suggestion that instead of "read the box," you could say those instructions out loud.

betty freddy: Don’t you rinse out the neutralizer?

Maria AcostaRizzo: As I've gotten older my hair is loosing its curl. I wonder if this bring it back? My picture is my natural hair. I've notice a change since I've been dying my hair red the past few years a red tint I don't know if that makes a difference but I'm going to stop dying it with the Reds. Did you have curl or Texture to your hair before you started curling it?

Natasha Letourneau: So I already have curls like yours (after you perm) but I’m wondering if I perm my hair would I get a tighter/more kinky curl than I already have??

Dani T: How do you get the waving lotion smell out of your hair?

라쿤카Raccoonka: Does someone know about how many perm rods she used for her hair..?

9037chaparra: That looks cute but I couldn't do it myself I would mess it up.

Darlene Peterson: What if u have bright colored hair? I’ve been turned down by Beauticians because they say my end will fall off. Can I still perm. My hair hasn’t been bleached or dyed in over 4 months

Denise Nicole Martinez: How long does it last you ?

H H20: Gray is smaller. Use gray at the base and then put white at the end its called Piggy Back.

Donna Stapleton: My big issue is getting them tight to hold mine fall loose immediately how do u get them tight

Natasha Wisehart: The neutralizer is what stops the perm. ‍♀️

Enxo: Will this work on shortish mens hair?

impendingrapture: So, you take the rods out and put the neutralizer on? When do you rinse? I think the lady at the salon rinses me with the rods still in? I’m curious, since I’m in lockdown and won’t be seeing anyone for several days at least, do you think you could rinse with the rods in and then leave the rods in for a day? Would that make the curls tighter?

Taylor Huggins: If I’m careful can I do without the cotton or the paper wraps? I only got the box and the curler things

Basement_Trickster: stunning.

Becky Mesterhazi: Your doggie is so cute watching you!

C H: Why did you not rinse after the neutralizer?

Momo Kook: I just spent hundreds at a shop this afternoon. And they did the exact same thing!
