Our hair thins as we age, so keeping it long may accentuate the thinning. Sam Villa Show, Ambassador Marisa Villa says: ,'' If hair is thinning going shorter is an option. If you've had Long hair, your entire life, it might be time to update to a lob.'''' It’s, just what I wanted !''. Whatever you do, make sure your haircut has layers and depth. Mizu New York salon owner Damian Santiago, says ``, The classic hairstyle. That makes a woman look older and dowdy is the cut where everything is the same length all over a few inches long. Then set with a small curling iron, all over., Not cute or modern. Wispy bangs on this look kill it for me.''. As long as you have a dynamic flattering style, the length of your hair truly doesn't matter. Santiago revealed even his mature clients, rock long layers or short pixie cuts.. According to Santiago ``, A mature client with a strong inner confidence can rock any cool and modern look.'''' And it's possible. You can be really genuinely cool and I I'm going to fail just 100 % .'' Color in the lines Going too dark can add years to your look.. Owner of Artkiteks salon, Jeff Stump, says ,''. I recommend blending the color with highlights or a demi-permanent color, so that the color will grow out much better and achieve a more natural look.''. Lady parts, Surprisingly, just how you part your hair can age, you., Marisa Villa says: `` Straight down: the middle doesn't work for everyone, but you also don't want to have a severe side. Part either., A soft irregular part could be flattering and don't forget about bangs. In some cases they can make. You look younger.'' Turn down the volume, While a little volume can be beautiful, going overboard will only age you. Because our hair tends to thin as we age. Many of us worry about it. Looking too flat. Volume is different and can look modern and elegant.'' Shampoo. Your ‘do Your shampoo affects your hairstyle and it may be making you look. Older. Shampoos for `` normal hair, types'' aren’t the best option, as you age. Marisa Villa, explains, ``. You have to have the right tools and products for gorgeous hair., Grey and aging. Hair has unique characteristics that require a mask once a week, color protecting shampoo thermal protectant and more effort in the fight against frizz.''''. Sometimes you need a little Finesse. Sometimes you need a lot !'' Shine bright, like a diamond Damaged, hair always looks older than it is leaving the owner looking older than she is.. It'S important to keep up your natural sheen by taking good care of your locks. If you're noticing a lot of split ends. It'S time to go to the salon for a cut.. Marisa Villa recommends ``. If you want long hair and your hair just isn't healthy enough. Get extensions to create fullness or length that looks healthy and shiny.. When you look good, you feel good — and you're only as young as you feel, !'''', Don't tell me not to live, just sit and putter. Life's candy and the sun's a ball of butter.. The List: What's your favorite young and stylish look?

Mira Feather: This is silly. Wear your hair how you want it. And try not to fear aging. It happens to us all. Embrace it. There are better things to spend your life doing than obsessing on the inevitable. Cheers! :)

Feeber Izer: "Our hair thins as we age" Ha! I had a hormone imbalance 3 years ago and lost nearly half my hair. It was always thin, so it looked really bad. It started growing back about 6 months later. Another 2 years and it's grown back *thicker* with less grey AND I now have curls! At 60, I'm loving my hair and will let it grow as long as possible....

DaxLogan1: I disagree. It will depend on the individual. Some short cuts make you look older. The same with coloring your hair and makeup look. I believe people should experiment with styles and color and wear what they feel beautiful with.

Dune: I've always wanted extremely long hair, it's mesmerizing and gorgeous to me. Short hair has never appealed to me and I've found it a bit unattractive no matter the face shape.

P A: Great to see so many women telling the hair and fashion industry what they can do with their "advice." Also, I love how they call women with really long hair "crazy cat ladies"! GFY

Debbie Deal: a classic bob looks great on anyone. I think highlights/lowlights done well adds depth and shine to hair in a flattering way. I am dying to go grey, but am too scared to do it ;( I think it makes a HUGE statement about your confidence and acceptance of yourself, but my stylist has assured me it will age me 10 years. I feel plenty old without adding 10 more years. I love to see grey on other women, though. One of these days........

Poppy Driver: WHY does everyone seem to have such a big problem with long hair recently?

HipFit SoooGood: "Inner confidence" is the most important part of the haircut, yes! Thank you.

Angela Correa: Okay, I'm over all the long hair hate. I'm 34 and have light auburn/red hair down to my knees and I still get carded for R rated movies. I've had long hair all my life. As I have gotten older, people feel the need to tell me to cut my hair because long hair is for young girls. That is total bull. If the hair is healthy, well taken care of, and not excessively thin, then long hair can and should be rocked by any age.

Merrill Dellas: It's sooo about time! I'm loving that more women are embracing their grays!

Luann Rouff: I stopped dyeing my hair a few years ago and then let it grow out after years of being very short. I'm 62 and this is what my 62 looks like. (BTW, I make shampoo at home and only need to wash my hair every 5-6 days. You don't need more products: you need fewer of them.)

Dorothy Lee: NOPE...I have to disagree about never having hair that is shorter in the front than the back. Easy for women who have small noses, but for someone with a prominent nose, hair that is long and angled toward the front of your face just draws attention to it. I LOVE the old fashioned look = it is more flattering for my face, and those of us who do not have small symmetrical features.

Kumiko Sachs: These are some great tips but I kind of disagree on the part about not having long hair. Long hair (past waist length) that is healthy can help a woman look younger in my opinion. I think it just depends on how well the hair is taken care of, and the hair cut.

Zzz Sleepy: Every old lady around here has a red bob or pixie cut. You ONLY see long hair on young girls. Most older actresses keep their hair long for this reason.

Midnight Melancholy: I have always had very thin hair for my entire life, but I will never ever cut it short. I don't give a damn if anyone says long thin hair looks bad, I still love it way more than having a bob.

Voice Of Passion: I've been rocking my butt-long hair since years! Some say very long is somewhat child-like, but I never heard a person say it made you older. The "makes you old" thing is a lye. Want to know why? The hairdressers don't want you to keep it nice and long, 'cause they know you won't show up for a haircut, when your hair can take care of itself, mind you. The monthly straight, clean cut can be done by your spouse or your mom or whoever you trust...and they know it! Soooo...this "makes you old" thing is just business speaking.

Margaret McGuire: I personally think long hair is beautiful on all ages. Not to mention bad hair days are easily dealt with... throw it up and go.

Dorothy Lee: I have to disagree with the idea that shorter in front grading down to longer in the back is aging. Depends on your features. I think that the short, stacked back with those face framing front pieces just make a person's nose stick out more noticeably. My nose certainly is not something I want to draw attention to! Just wondering if others think so , too.

Nancie Blackburn: The length of your hair has nothing to do with looking older. Getting old is what ages you!

cheri teleri: LOL I look a LOT younger than I am, always have. I've had very long hair most of my life & have never colored it - have to admit that most of my family don't start greying until their 60s which is out of my hands. Anyway, this really needs to drop the 'older people' thing for specifics - ie IF your hair is thinner, or getting grey, etc etc etc. By expecting all older women to cut their hair & dye it a lighter shade, anyone who does so suddenly looks older simply by association!

Zíł'ghaáh: I'm native american, and having long hair makes you look exotic. Expecially with dark-black hair. Why is long hair considered bad?

ofmind&soul: I am turning 35 this year and my hair falls to my waist (too long is gross - it hits the back of the toilet if you don’t pull it forward .....ewww ). I am told on the daily that my hair is beautiful. Thankfully my hair isn’t too thick to pull on my face and not too thin to look sparse. Grateful for the hair I have and how quickly it grows.

#Forever Piggy: Listen: It's ok to not like things that the media, hollywood and this channel dictate you. Dont ever throw a piece of cloth or change the color of your hair because of this stupid channel. You are unique, you are who you are and YES, YOU CAN like stuff that maybe nobody would like. It's ok! You can live with that, BELIEVE ME. You can truly be yourself and survive. Bless you.

Zaiology: Excellent advice & wisdom! Really enjoyed the salon-owners / professional opinions from experience. :)) Thx for a great video!

Kinlai: I like just about every "bad" thing they talked about here.. lol My hair is also pretty much what they described, and people always think I'm like 15. Actually I'm in my mid 20's.

Julia Royall: I asked my stylist if I should have short hair now I'm 50. She said "only if you want to look old" Short hair ages some people. I, personally, love my long hair and I I'm going to keep it long and never will I have a fringe xxxxx

missartist123: I always felt short hair makes you look older. When I see someone who has had longer than rib length hair go for a bob, they seem to look about 10 years older.

A Heimdahl: I think the reason that Hairdressers (within the last 30+ years) always want to cut your hair (especially if its really long) is because they just don't know what to do with long hair.

ei: being old isn't bad, it's just as flawless

Victoria Salek: I have to disagree with the go shorter with thinning hair. I like to keep mine longer. I have more to work with when styling an up do, using products, it gives the appearance that I have more hair than I do. I had it cut shorter one time, and I couldn't do much with it...it was just thin short hair.

Leashy_Yami_No_Tenshi: This is true for me. I have light skin and everytime i dye my hair black it makes me look older, i notice, since i was a teenager even. But blond or rainbow colours make me look younger. I also had my hair super long last year with no layers and then i just cut it to abit past my shoulders and added bangs and everyone says i look in my early 20's now rather than my current age of 29.

Jasmine Perez: I have wicked long hair and I still look very young and everyone tells me to keep the long look because it suits me plus I make sure to keep my hair well maintained

violette en fleur Dracula's Babe: You know what makes a woman rock, her personality. Her unique style. We are not made out of cookie cutter molds. My mother has a beauty book from the 1920's basically saying the same nonsense as this video. I've seen beautiful older women with mohawk haircuts. Goth older woman stunning with pale skin and very dark hair. Age is only a number folks.

Illumibunny Madness: My hair was pretty damaged and down to my elbows and I parted it in the middle all was the same length and people still thought I looked 17 now my hair is short a little past my ears and people still think I'm 17 even though I'm 29...so I don't think this is true. People just seem to look way too deeply into certain thing's. If you look older than you are it's more likely from genetics not because of your hair style. Also wearing makeup ages your skin faster not saying not to wear it but it will start aging the skin around your eyes much faster. I use to wear make up all the time haven't worn any the past year after learning about that. So screw what other's think if you like your hairstyle and your makeup wear it how you like it.

steph: Cat lady long? I don't know why there's such a stigma when it comes to women and cats. Nothing wrong with being a cat lady, or having super long hair. Dress and look how you want.

Gradius: 1) "Long hair makes a woman look older" (lol sure, such a "beauty industry" opinion which does nothing but aim to get more women into salons to spend money) 2) 9 out of 10 of men will always prefer a woman with longer hair vs shorter hair. *Always.* Studies have actually been done on this, oddly enough.

josie allison: I'm 63 years old and my hair is long and beautiful, no one will ever guess my age. I think long hair and bangs, will make you look much younger..

Ally The Piper: I pretty much break all of these rules... And I think I look totally fine. Haha beauty is subjective. Don't forget it!

Lisa Jellison: I like my hair layered in long layers so I can put it up on the summertime. I'm going lighter, I think I went a little too dark and maybe some highlights. My hair is a little tiny bit past my shoulders.

Day Berndt: To sum it up, anything that can be taken care of at home without spending money at a salon is going to make you look older. Right?

Lisa Morales: Im 60 and letting my hair grow out long. I have dark brown hair with natural silver highlights in front. I get compliments very often. Long hair live on!

Urban Hawk: Ok interesting, naturally my hair is dark brown/black and I am very fair skinned. My hair is also currently 26 inches long and down the bottom of my back. Also currently dyed purple. Video says I should definitely look old. But I am gonna listen to the numerous people behind checkouts. Asking for ID when I buy alcohol, even though I am 10+ years old enough to buy it. I will pass on this advice and ignore the fact. Nearly every picture in this is of photoshopped young women with long hair. When telling us our hair should be short or bobbed

Julie Morgan: I always associate above the chin hair with older women because I rarely see long hair on them. I think well maintained, healthy long hair on an older woman would look amazing!

RobynA316: I have long beautiful gray hair and I get compliments all the time! I have a natural curl to my hair though! I don’t mind looking mature now! I’ve earned it!

Peck Peck mmm: Jet black hair and pale skin is literally the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.

Alice Kingsley: “Hair thins as you get older.” It doesn’t have to be that way. All it takes to prevent hair loss and gain more thickness is to eat healthy, exercise, drink plenty of water, stimulate hair follicles, sleep, etc.

Rose Xo: I love having long hair. Its taken so long to grow out. Recently got a side fringe that doesnt blend into my longer hair and it makes my hair appear longer! Looks awesome.

Elligons: People can wear their hair however they want. Period.

Nanami: I think this all depends on facial shapes. Such as if you have more of a round smaller face, long hair makes you look like your a teenager. Or younger. It just depends on the woman.

Shirley Hook: You make it look so easy. Love itm thanks for the video. Have a great weekend Hugs Shirley

Aubrey Shelton: And yes the last time at age 36...my hair was down to my waist and the first thing my mother and grandmother said to me was that I needed a hair cut my long hair was aging me... And they were right!! I just missed my big giant messy buns and high bombed out ponytail S... I'm 43 now.. But yes.. Long hair will age you... I agree. And so do real experts... Ask any hair dresser.. Cosmetologist

Karyn Sue Pohlmeier: SO many stylists still want to "slant" one's hair making it shorter in the front and longer in the back, they say it frames ones face...it drives me nuts so I started cutting my own hair. I should go to a very good stylist and have some layers put in to my hair since it's really long and I plan to keep it long.

Ana Marija Drašković: i am watching this video because i wanna do the exact opposite of what they say. its hard being a 23 year old that is setting off into a career and looking like a 15 year old.

Moon Pleiades: Ladies, this video is a perfect example of the “I’m never good enough” bullshit that is constantly thrown at us. And it’s lame. Be yourself. Be happy. Don’t hurt yourself with harsh chemicals or regimens that are difficult for you to keep up. Coconut oil and avocado oil go a long way in making you feel good. Screw this shit. Be you!

Shaniafan1: I shaved my hair recently and I don’t like how much older I look with a pixie. I haven’t gotten it trimmed yet because I’m going for the one year mark. But the pixie cut isn’t for me. :( I miss my long hair.

MaiXoxo: I just cut my hair shorter last year, shoulder length, due to my hair falling out. I seriously felt like a cat whenever I see balls of hairs on my carpet >.< so far I love the short length its easier to take care of and it takes less time to straighten giving me a sleek and professional look. My face is long so long hair makes it look even longer and older. So far short hair is trending again this year because I see a lot of girls going shorter again. I am never going back to long hairs again as I am now 26 years old. I think long hairs look better on kids.

Abba’s Child: Short hair screams... older lady . Long hair keeps you wondering her age if she is fit and well put together.

TechnoForever: Purely, profit-driven advice. Everything that makes one look older, according to salon owners, means these women aren't visiting their salons and even for a trim, not a dollar-worthy, visit. Don't listen to this drivel, it is your smile, your heart, soul and attitude that makes one look older. If you feel good about yourself, it will show despite one's hair style!

LongliveEDL: Very short hair shows every wrinkle, sag, double chin perfectly! Longer hair can detract from that!

Wanda B.: I am 64 and letting my hair grow out long. Plus natural color which is white in the front! Low maintenance! No getting it cut every 3-4 weeks and getting the white roots colored. This is freedom!! I love it!

eWe Mad: Absolutely ridiculous, my grandma only looks young because of her very long hair

thebshowFIN: Having long hair and looking old depends on the kind of hair cut you have. I seriously dislike seeing these short haircuts on women, especially older women. It doesn't make you look younger in my opinion. When you have good layers in your hair also the look makes you look younger. It all depends on the kind of layers you have cut.

Janet Williams: I have been conned incessantly by hairdressers into having layers and it has only ever made the ends look scrappy and fine. I finally put my foot down I now have a heavy fringe (bangs) and shoulder length hair no layers, because of the length the ends of my hair kick out naturally so it doesn't look like an ageing bob. The bangs shorten my face and the kick lifts it. Sometimes the more you do to your hair the older it makes you look.

Angie Dorman: I'm used to have straight, long hair cut straight across with/ without bangs. I've been doing that for years, but finally did a shoulder length hair cut that is straight across but still has layers and when I put it up, it's in a short little cute bun. cooIt's cool, I'm 44 and have had the same style hairdo since 1991. But I did like a little choppy cut in it in where it has different lengths and I think it's real cute.

Keera Ashton: Even long grey hair looks fabulous

Kristina Hollosi: sometimes short hair can also make you look older, and sometimes neither, its not the same for everyone

jay mills: Lol. I try to keep my hair like an inch past bra strap length and no layers. I’m only 20 now but I hate changing my hair so I hope this doesn’t make me look old in 10 years hahahaha

bonbons: I'm keeping my hair bottom rib length with some Ariel style fringe and super side part until I'm old and grey thank you very much I love long hair and refuse to give it up no matter how much people try and persuade me to. I've always dreamed of having long grey and white hair when the time comes and no one has ever guessed I'm more than 2 or 3 years younger than my actual age (which is still pretty young). I get complements on my hair all the time. Havent been to a stylist for over 15 years and dont plan on spending money on that ever.

Meimei: "When you look good, you feel good." Well, to a point. The other way around is also true: when you fell good, you look good.

angel_lina: Literally 75% of this video was completely wrong! Long hair actually makes people look younger as I've noticed ! Shorter haircuts make the person more edgy and grown up! Parting your hair close to the middle makes you look older too, I've noticed that with my hair.. parting my hair on the side is what works best for youthful looks! This is so false!!

chillitz: i'm basically doing the opposite of all these things.....i love my long hair!!!

Anita Honeycutt: I'm constantly getting flattering compliments on my hair it's 44 inches long, natural blonde with natural gray streaks.

ichigohime16: I'm 30 and I had short hair all my life . I've been rocking all type of pixies . And currently trying to let it go and take care of my natural curls . I probably won't ever have it past my shoulder or chin . But I do admire long hair. Thou just like short hair is not for everyone that same thing happen to long hair.

Holly Peters: Wow im 51 and according to experts im doing things wrong, i wear a smokey heavy eye and whatever color lipstick I feel like on any given day. I think you can always learn something and blow off the rest that truely doesnt fit you and your personality.

MiotaLee: I tried a bob when I was a kid. absolutely hated it, why? Because it made me look older (and also rounder) I think bobs are cute, but they're insanely difficult to get right.

Star's Life : Long hair does not make everyone look old. For me super long hair makes me look young and short hair makes me look older.

Kiwigal: I'm 57 have lightened my hair since 18. I'm going to do the opposite now and match it back to darker colour. My hair is still brown and the lightening is such a drag.

jke387: A lot of these are backwards. All the old ladies have short hair, and a huge pet peeve of mine is blonde hair past a certain age..it's too close in shade to gray, and the darker hair is actually a lot more youthful looking.

Lisa Rose: 45 with long thick auburn hair, always get people saying i look about 30 so i'm never cutting my hair short :)

o0OHermioneO0o: I totally disagree that short hair generally makes one look younger. At least where I'm from, the older you get, the shorter the hair is cut. This applies to EVERY female member of my family and relatives, and to almost all women among my acquaintances.

greyturttle: personally i love fair skin and jet back hair.

OC Resident: I met a woman the other day who was in her sixties. She had silver hair almost to her waist that she'd teased a bit on the crown of her head for volume and then caught back with a simple faux tortoiseshell barrette. She looked stunning. Wear what makes you happy. Who cares what anyone else thinks!

Puddintayne: Dont listen to these people ! Wear your hair the way YOU like it. I wear my hair long because if its short I look like a puffy q tip. short hair not for me and I am over 50

Alix Giggles: The length thing is true for straight hair. Women with textured hair look young with waist, tailbone length hair

Estelle Archer: I disagree with "dark hair makes you look older"

Evelyn Alberto: Short hair on older women makes them look older. I'm 60 and my hair is little longer than shoulder length. I deal with the gray by going for highlights.

Josefine Bliss: I always look at these videos and then done the exact opposite because of my babyface anything that makes me look older is a blessing lmao

LongliveEDL: Always add eye brows! Not having any or thin lines ages you!

Manda: You'll look old regardless of how your hair is cut. I have really long, blunt cut hair and I don't look my age. It's your face that matters most

qwertyuiopasdfghjkl: I think jet black actually looks really good on fair skin

Kolby Cheese: Short hair makes you look older and far less versatile compared to long hair.

Z: okay so im really confused. they said that you shouldnt do short hair in the front and long hair in the back, so just keep it "square" and then they said that you should add some depht in your hair, but how do I do that without making my hair non-square?

Alicia Mendsey - Natural Hair Journey & Goals: Thank you for sharing. I recently posted a video about 30 mistakes that I made with my hair. I also in the video briefly discuss depression.

Donna: I am a hairstylist, and one day I asked a fellow stylist if he would ever put a short haircut on a large woman. He said, "sure, if she wants to look like an ant-eater". lol

InandaroundTO: My mother's asking me what I think she should do with her hair. After watching this, older women's hair styling main concern seems to be about thinning. She has really thick hair. If that's thinning hair... what the fuck did it look like when she was young? I think she should just keep it long. Gray or not, it's still pretty and I didn't see any ideas here that would apply to her. If anything, she'll look younger than other women her age because she can rock long hair still.

Sarah Child: Huh. I have naturally sharp features and hereditary dark blue under eye area and look about 28, but I'm only 17. so far short hair makes me look much older than having long hair. I miss my long hair now. Ladies, try not to take so much advice from videos like this. Have your hair whatever length you think you look best in and take care of your skin! That's how you'll look younger.

Georgia Mathews: Long hair always looks better than short hair on a female no matter the age. Short hair is rarely an improvement. Your face is what makes you look old or young for the most part.

ehhidkk: i have very white skin blue eyes and jet black hair and i look fucking magical

GrubSalad: I have kind of long hair when it's straight, but I had my hair cut to a bob, but now I can't cut my hair because my mom doesn't allow me to but the bob or pixie cut looks very nice though.
