Hey guys welcome back to my channel, I am super excited for today's video because I'm gon na be talking to you guys about how to sleep with wavy or curly hair. This is something I've gotten so many questions on recently on my hair videos, especially the video that I did on wavy curly, hair mistakes that you might be making. I got lots of love on that video and I'm so grateful to all of you. If you found my channel through that video or even those of you came over to Instagram, thank you so so much since so many of you guys were curious about it. I did want to talk to you guys about my personal experiences and basically just what I do to sleep on my wavy curly hair, since it is like pretty short, I'm also going to be showing you guys how to tie your hair in a silk scarf. But before we get into all of that, don't forget to subscribe it down below if you have not yet and give the video a thumbs up. If you enjoy it, you can also come join me over on Instagram and Twitter as well. If you would like, they are linked in my description box, so we're just going to go ahead and jump into it. So I did mention in that mistakes, video, how I don't plot my hair anymore, because it's so much shorter now and it really just tends to pull on and straighten out the pieces in the back and even sides of my hair. So since I've cut my hair, I have been kind of experimenting a little bit, I guess and just figuring out what works for me. So the first thing that I want to cover is the silk scarf wrapping, because that is kind of what kind of sparked the idea for this video. I wanted to try this out and I have been wrapping my hair in a silk scarf to sleep this week. So I haven't been doing it for super long, but I definitely tried it and I kind of feel like I have my thoughts on it for you guys. So this is the scarf that I have. I got this on Amazon and I just watched some other videos and kind of like purchased what people were recommending. I will say this is not 100 % silk. This is like a silk feeling scarf, but the real silk ones were pretty pricey and I really wanted to try it out first and like get my thoughts on it and from what I'd seen, most people were just using the silk feeling scarf anyways. So I just figured that I would try this out first, so I'm gon na go ahead and show you guys how I wrap my hair in this first and then, while we are in this little rap for a little bit I'll talk to you guys, basically about My feelings, my thoughts, so basically what I do is I fold the scarf in like a triangle, because this is like one big square. This is like 35. 535. I fold it over, like I just said, triangular leave and I make sure that it's folded with the shiny side out, because that's like the softest side, I guess and like the smooth, is for the hair. I'Ve seen it done a couple of different ways, but the way that I feel like I like the best is just to flip it over. So it's almost like a shawl you're wearing it like a shawl with a point in the center of your back. You have the two sides right here: I'm gon na get all of my hair back and then I am going to bring these sides up and tie it around my head making sure that there's no hair like sticking out or anything so I just tie that, like Decently, tight, I guess, and then I have these two strings hanging here and I take the piece in the back the triangle part and I just pull it up, and then I put all of my hair in this little pocket here and then I pull it up And I just take this piece here and I pull it through this knot that I've got or this tie that I've got going on. I just pull it through here and then I've got these little sections here that are kind of poofing out. So I just like: stick those under and then I'm just gon na take this piece since it's so long here and just kind of like tuck it back one more time through there. So it's like stays and then I take these two pieces and I just tie them in the back and I tie it twice, so I am gon na give you guys my thoughts now. I just want to show you how I do it and sit in this scarf for a little bit cuz. I think it is really cute. So we'll start off by saying that I feel like this could work for a lot of people um. It'S very gentle on the hair, even though this isn't real, so I don't feel like it dries out. My hair, which is what I have heard. Some people say about silk that isn't real, but one thing I will note is I've found that when I wake up in the morning, especially right after I take my hair out of the scarf I'll, have these little like pieces. That kind of like stick up most where the curls have kind of been placed in there randomly and sometimes they'll end up like sticking out a little bit or it's not like the perfect curl pattern that I went to bed with. If that makes sense, now keep in mind that my hair is really short, I feel like if your hair is any longer than mine. This would probably work really well for you and you might not have that issue, but since my hair is so short, it doesn't just all kind of perfectly go into this big pile on top of my head. If that makes sense, I feel like with longer hair. It all just kind of goes into that pile, but was shorter hair. You have shorter pieces on the sides and in the back and then the pieces on the top, just don't have a lot of length to them and I feel like they just kind of want to do their own thing. I don't really know if I'm making sense right now, but I just feel like with longer hair. This would work differently kind of how flopping does, and I feel, like plopping just doesn't really work for shorter hair, and so I feel like this in that sense, doesn't work quite as well for shorter hair, as it would for hair. That'S a little bit longer than mine. Also, my hair is lightened, and so it's not like perfectly moisturized and bouncy in the way that I feel like it used to be so it is a little bit more dried out, and so it does just kind of want to stay a little straighter on the Top of the head, or a little more like up instead of like falling perfectly because if you have really moisturized hair and it's very like soft, it's kind of just gon na want to go into little ringlets like fall into little ringlets in certain spots. I'M gon na keep trying this. I do want to eventually maybe get a real silk scarf and try it like that, but I feel like with my experience I have this week. This isn't something that I want to continue doing on a regular basis. Um, like I said I want to keep experimenting. I think I'm gon na take my hair out of the scarf now. I just wanted to show you guys um how I do it. I just wanted to tell you guys to maybe consider giving this a try. If you haven't tried it out already, because something that I do want to stress is how different all of our hair is and how different things work for different people and in some previous videos, people will like really strongly give their opinion, and maybe they felt like. I was too strong in my opinion, and so they have to kind of counteract that, and I really want you guys to know that at the end of the day we all are different and we, I have to experiment what works for us. Not everything is gon na work, the same for everybody so like when I said that I don't dry brush my hair and because I find that it really tugs on my waves and like makes me lose all my definition gives me. Poofy hair people said that they brush their hair and they have to work, gets really tingly and that's what works for them and if that's, what works for you and you can still get really define beautiful waves. The next day keep doing you like I'm not here, to create a set of rules for your hair at all. I'M just telling you guys what has worked for me and also like what I've heard from a lot of other people, so yeah anyways, I'm gon na. Stop rambling about that, but I'm gon na take my hair out of this scarf right now so now I just want to talk to you guys a little bit about how I have been sleeping with my hair, like on a regular basis that I've found works pretty Well for me, so, first of all, I like to sleep on a silk pillowcase, most of the time, the silk pillowcases that I have are real silk. Obviously there are some times when my pillowcases are dirty. I don't have only silk pillowcases, so I will sleep on a regular pillowcase and my pillowcases are good quality, so I don't find it to be like too much of an issue or to cause like damage to my hair. Really. So I do try to sleep on a silk pillowcase as much as I can when I am wearing my hair natural, and I find that that really does help a lot. Another thing that I will do sometimes is: I will just take the top part of my hair and do like a half pineapple. That'S something I was going to mention earlier on in this video, but pineapple is something that a lot of people do, especially with longer hair, to keep their waves intact for the next day and what they'll do is basically just take all of their hair and gather It on top of the head, like in a very, very high, ponytail and kind of just let it like pineapple out and do its thing. I did mention in a video that that doesn't really work for me anymore, because I have a short hair and pieces. Just fall out in the back, but sometimes I'll just take my hair here. Everything that fits on top of my head and just like pull it all up and do like a half pineapple and then obviously like the pieces down here are gon na get left out. That'S not really like the part of my hair that you see, so you can pull all of your hair, just kind of like to the top of the head put in a little scrunchy and just leave it like that, and that's also probably going to work a Little bit better with short hair that isn't textured or layered. My hair is pretty like textured and it has like hidden layers in it, which I find do really help with like the volume and curl definition, or way, definition on the top layers of my hair. But it also hinders you from some things and I feel like one of those things is like a pineapple or something like that. Going back to the silk scarf. That I was going to mention and completely forgot, is that I do find that this silk scarf keeps the waves at my roots a little bit more intact, because it is really pushing your hair against your head, and so it's not like you're stretching the roots out. Like you would, if you're doing a pineapple, so if that's something that you're really worried about like if you find that your roots get stretched out really easily, maybe consider doing this silk scarf. Even if you have shorter hair, because that might really help. I found that it helps me with that personally, but anyways I for the most part honestly lately have just been sleeping with my hair down, and I like to sleep like I sat on a silk pillowcase as much as I can, and I just kind of put All of my hair back and like push it up like this sleep on my pillow and try not to go crazy all over the place. I am kind of a crazy sleeper, so sometimes my hair does end up getting a little bit squished, but at least the hair is like pretty much the same all over my head. I feel like with the half pineapple and even with the silk scarf, it can, like, I said, cause certain pieces to be a little bit like odd and like stick up or be more flattened than other pieces, and when I just sleep with my hair all down, It'S a little bit more consistent all over the head, and so it just makes my hair look a little less wavy, but not like odd. If that makes sense, I honestly feel like this. Video is like all over the place right now. I thought I was like prepared when I sat down to talk to you guys about everything, and I feel like my brain is just like all over the place. At the end of the day, I'm just giving you guys my experience, I'm not telling you what you have to do with your hair, I'm just kind of telling you guys to experiment, which is what I've done. Don'T just take my word for things. Look into things, research, things watch, other videos figure out what works for you, I'm just giving you guys some options. The last thing I do want to mention that someone commented on my channel recently and I haven't really done a lot of research on it, but i have watched one or two videos is Medusa clipping. It'S not something that I have tried because number one. I do not have Clips like that and I would have to go purchase them. Basically, it's where you have these little Clips kind of like little mini claw clips and you take sections of your hair and bring it to the top of the head and then just like clip it to your scalp, so that your hair kind of still all stays On the top of the head, but you're not having to bring it up in a scrunchie like a pineapple, the thing I will say with that is, I feel, like literally clipping my hair to my scalp. I feel, like would really stretch out the roots. More than sleeping with my hair down, and so for that reason I don't know how well that would work for me, especially since I just have wavy hair. It'S not super curly or anything like that, and I have shorter layers on the top of my hair. So by the time I clip that all up, I wouldn't have too much left hanging out. A lot of people also asked about, like my cut in some of my videos, and I basically just asked for a blunt cut all around, and then she did a lot of texturizing with the texturizing scissors. I'M sure your stylist has one of those and then also some like hidden layers. So that's basically just what I asked for she did her thing. I didn't give her like a bunch of details. She just kind of did her thing and that's what she said. She did so, hopefully that helps some of you guys out. If you were asking for that, but anyways. This video is getting really long and, like I said it's kind of all over the place, so I don't want to keep dragging it out, but I do want to eventually try the Medusa clipping. I just don't know that it's gon na work for my hair. As far as keeping like my hair at the root really wavy and textured and voluminous, so that's definitely a concern, but let me know if you guys would want to see a video of me like trying Medusa clipping for the first time. I do like to do. Videos where I try something new for the first time and give you guys up my first impressions, but I don't know if that's what you guys really like like. If you want to see more detail, reviews on things or if you want to actually just see me, try some thing for the first time, let me know down below. I hope that you guys enjoyed this video. Hopefully I talked about some methods that you haven't heard about, and maybe you want to go, try them out. The whole point of this video is just to give you guys. Some ideas share with you guys. My experience - I'm not perfect, I don't have it all figured out. I think we're all in our learning process with our wavy or curly hair and you just have to experiment and figure out works for you. So try out some of these methods. Let me know down below if any of them work, for you have pineapple een, silk, scarf, Medusa clipping or even just sleeping on a silk pillowcase. Let me know down below. I would love to hear your updates, your thoughts. If you try any of these methods out and figure out what works for you, I would love to know. Thank you so much for watching this video don't forget to subscribe down below and also hit the notification bell. If you want to see new videos like this from me - and I will see you guys next time - bye

Furious: Im a guy with horrible hair, but you would never understand how much the girls on youtube have done for me

kc2145: I have 2b 2c hair with the random odd 3a curl. My hair gets easily stretched out so I use one medium size claw clip to pin my hair to the top of my head. I pull all my hair to the top, give it a slight twist and use the clip to secure the side of the twist. Most of my waves/ curls stay intact and then I usually refresh the bottom section that gets stretched out. I also sleep on a silk pillowcase. Wraps and bonnets totally flatten my hair.

Katia Casanova: Medusa clipping worked so well for my short wavy hair! I parted my hair into four and clipped close to the scalp and it preserved so well and also gave me more definition! :)

Red Rose: For anyone who is worried about how pricey silk pillowcases are even if you switch to a microfibre pillowcase it makes a big difference compared to a standard cotton pillowcase. Of course its not as good and will still get some frizz but its a budget friendly improvement from a cotton one

Unicorn bükücü: Wrapping my hair worked so well for me. My curl pattern is similiar to yours but my hair is longer. When I wake up, my curls are even better than 1st day. Also I noticed that my hair gets much less greasy, I can go longer without washing my hair.

notahamster: Longer hair has more weight. That’s why it keeps better form with the first method you mention. They get stretching of the curls around the hairline as well from over direction, but because the hair is longer, it’s less likely to stick out in some crazy manner like shorter hair that lacks weight. All of this also depends on how you refresh your hair the next day too. Love the scarf you got! I prefer using the silk pillow case method as well. Much more comfortable for anyone with wavy/curly shoulder length hair or shorter

Viviana Rodríguez: This also works for long hair, you just need a large enough satin or silk scarf. Search for headwrap tutorials, there are some easier and diferent ways to do it. I'm from Colombia and some people use headwraps in their daily basis, not only to sleep. I wear a headwrap sometimes, they're beautiful and look amazing!

Linette Arroyo: Sleeping with curly hair is such a struggle for me! I have a satin pillow and bonnet, but have never tried a scarf. I have yet to find a method I love. Thanks for sharing!

Naomi Carter: If I fiddled as much with my hair as you did, mine would be a frizz bomb by the end of the video! How do you keep the curls substantial like that?!

Lexi Smith: this video was pretty inspiring to me! i’ve always been worried about using a silk scarf or even silk sheets because they can be on the pricey side! but this video for sure inspired me to look into one of the two ❤️

Amchrist343: I have a similar curl pattern to you and got a very similar cut with lots of layers. It really enhanced my curls and was so fun! (although I did miss being able to pineapple). I then decided to get a more blunt lob with bangs -- no layers--and the lack of layers + the super short hair has seriously flattened my curl pattern. I have had no layers in the past but when my hair was really long, so I was able to plop, pineapple, etc. toget more definition. For those of you thinking of getting a short style, DEFINITELY make sure you get a lot of layers like Tabitha has. It really makes or breaks your natural look, in my experience.

Star: Hey, I really recommend medusa clipping, I tries lots of different ways of sleeping with my short curly hair and this is the only thing that has really worked for me

dess: I had to do that because I applied henna and did not want to ruin my pillow. It worked perfectly! in the morning it was still there, exaclty the same, no mess. Thank you x1000.

BC D: Hi Tabitha!! How are you feeling? While I am very sorry I am here late, this message REALLY means a lot to me and I hope you get to see/respond to it!! I will be honest with you, this time in quarantine has been a struggle for me to get through and is messing with me and my mentality!! ☹️ I very much hope you are staying safe, healthy, and well!! Ps. Keep your head up, take good care of yourself your family, and try having a good day!! Peace and lots of love to you!! ✌️

MsBov77: Thanks for sharing your experiences. I feel like my hair is very similar to yours and I love your highlights! Wondering if you know and want to shared what shade/color level are your highlights. I’ve been thinking about getting my hair highlighted this summer. Thanks!

Jessica Galyon: I accidentally bought a long one instead of a big square one. Thank you for this! Hope I can fit my hair in mine.

Kirsten Tolfa: I started using a silk type bonnet that Manes by Mell recommended. It works well for my wavy/curly shoulder length hair. Maybe try something like that.

Shellz: I’m willing to give this a try. What I do is sleep on a satan pillowcase only. I think it keeps my waves better with less breakage.

Katieee_Llyn: I’ve been trying to grow out my hair back to the length it was two years ago. My hair was really short and- I HATE it short and wavy. My natural waves just don’t look great with my short hair and I miss it when it was long and wavy. So.. now I’m in the process of retraining my wave pattern. My hair is at my shoulders now. It’s grown pretty fast since May (Which is the last time I got it cut.)

Emily Urbanczyk: Can we get a tutorial on this look tho?

Aoi Haruko: Does anyone have any suggestions for wavies that need more definition in their waves? I have the curl talk gel and curl cream, but I noticed it holds at first but as the day goes on my waves fall. Maybe a harder hold gel, or protein treatment? Your thoughts?

Michelle Villegas: Can you do an updated curl product video? I'm trying to get into buying newer products (:

ali foix: I am so happy because I have a very similar tipe of wave as you and your videos have been really helpful. Thank you!!!

Shorty: Oh my gaaaawd! I found a gorgeous woman who has the exact same hair type as I do! I subscribed within seconds! Your hair is looking awesome! I would love to see your current wash and styling routine.

ayo: Recently learned I have wavy hair, and it was nice and wavy after a shower, and I tried sleeping with my hair down and it totally flatten and frizzed the next morning :(

Annicka Lewis: Hi! I just found you and this is like the third or fourth video I have seen so far, but I just wanted to say that I love you so much and I appreciate everything you are doing and all of your advice. Thank you so much!

Jazmynn V: Do you find that the silk scarf falls off easily? I guess I'm a reckless sleeper cause I've been using a bonnet and even with bobby pins it's off by morning.

OutOfTheKlosset: My hair does the pointy curl end thing and I don't color my hair nor use heat styling besides a quick defuse 1-2x a week. I think that it's just inevitable lol

Taylor Lynn: How often do you wash your hair sleep scarf? And what setting and temperature do you use to wash it?

olgadorable: Yes, please try Medusa clipping. This is the first time I heard of this and would love to hear how it went.

Erin Serrano: I gotta try this. I just started cgm and my waves look nice at night after my wash but my waves flatten out when I wake up

Salma hussein: I just wrapped my hair now, it’s long.. so I’ll see how it will look in the morning. Wish me luck :)

Linnea G: I have tried a half bun for a while and some pieces of hair stretches out straight and some are just living their own life and it often looks crazy in the morning

Kimber Ann: My hair is just maybe a inch longer and wow its hard to keep up on my waves. My hair just turns frizzy the next day and that's crazy i have the same exact scarf lol

pinkeeluvr: Do you use all natural products on your hair like with no sulfates? If so, do you have a video or have them all listed somewhere?

Lilly Faulknier: Yup now I definitely want to cut my hair this length as my hair pattern is similar to yours but more curlier a bit xoxo✨

Tomar Crauswell: What is the difference between sleeping in a scarf and sleeping in a plop?

Kevina: The scarf does look cute on you!!! Your hair is so beautiful

The Bookworms Nook: I get migraines so to keep my head warm all year round I wear woolly hats in bed. I wake up and my hair is fine. I just finger comb out the tangles and go about my day. My hair is the same length as yours.

La Gatita: Hello there im 37 and finally ready to wear my waves! I have very simular hair to you. Idk if i could wear a bonnet or scarf im trying a hair net lol. Tired of always straightening my hair so learning a lot from youtube. Will watch curl refreshing next.

Magdalena Diaz: Omg thank you, nice and simple.

yael hayun: You really should try medusa clipping! I tried it and it helped me keep the volume at the roots and the waves looked very nice next morning with just a little refresh. My hair is about the same length as yours. mine is just a little shorter, and I have a thin and fine hair. just put the clips loosely and at the top of the head so they wont interupt you while you sleep. Your haircut look soooooo good on you!

ZETA Lee: Your cut is beautiful. Wish I can get someone to do this for me .

Kat Brinson: Your hair is so pretty, and so are you! Great tips!

P Nut: Thank you!! I've been waiting for a video like this ❤

Rachel Emery: Your hair is like miiiiine!! Finally. I’m about that satin bonnet life. Scarves fall off me!

Sarah Durham: i can’t sleep with scrunchies in my hair because either it’s too loose and falls out or it creases because my hair creases v easily :(

jessicapaige beauty: Finally!! I found a wavy girl with similar length and type ❤️

Christina Manis: The whole time I was wondering what cut you ask for! So glad you mentioned it. :)

redwitchwannabe: I love your hair this length. My hair is the same length. Using the Medusa method is the only way I don't have straight hair in the morning. I sleep all night on my right side. I don't put all my hair up to the scalp, the back is still down. And i make the clipped areas really puffy.

Alexa’s Curls: Love these tips!

Sarah C: I do half pineapple sometimes too, but usually I’m too lazy and just sleep on my hair with it down! My hair is slightly shorter than yours.

reinadecorazones29: I have try pinaple method a couple of times and every time I do my hair gets soooo greasy. Does anyone else have that problem?

Lynda: Nice video. Really appreciate you giving the size of the silk scarf.

Carneiro Sara: Currently watching this video on my bed thanks for the help!

wolfygrl24: Your hair is gorgeous! I’m waiting for mine to grow out a bit longer and maybe try a perm again. Maybe you’ve already said in a past video but is yours naturally curly or is yours from a perm?

Eliza Grace: Does anyone have any suggestions on shampoos for wavy fine hair? I know that a lot of people like the Maui curl quench but will that volumize my hair?

Angelica Camacho: Ok but like that head wrap looks SUPER cute it’salook

Beatrice Alcaraz: I watched for the first time, your tips really helped just wondering if could please tell me which silk pillow cases you got.thanks

Thea B: Just watching this at 4am to see what good tricks to do your hair the night before

Brigid Anne: I am obsessed with your cut !

Kirsten Lamiette: I have the same hair texture and length as you. How do you get volume at the root?

Melyssa Fonseca: Beautiful hair

Ana Carolina Vila: Can you make a video with an update about your way to styling your hair? Thanks!!!

L. L.: Hi Tabitha, do you have low, high or normal porosity hair? Mine looks like yours but mine is low porosity i was wondering if yours is also

vamp m: It really saved my curls but it ruined the shape of my hair and it was basically like stuck up and I couldn't make it work

Lexy Magliocchetti: Alright, all I’m gonna say is that you look like Blair Waldorf when you have the scarf on your head!

Richa Singh: Tying in front doesn't flatten your hair??

Indhuja Selva arasu: While doing things hair got damaged or not while sleeping???

Amina Pelivani: What lipstick are you wearing? btw love your videos!❤️

Andreea West: I tried it many times but I end up losing it during the night. I might need a bonnet with an elastic band maybe

Mikaela Jacobson: What can I use if a don’t have a silk one?

Bhakti Dhongade: OMG her voice is sooo sooo similar to that of Davina Claire from The Originals...

Kpop Fan: Can I do this for straight hair too I have short hair and it's fine and thin and breaks alot I don't want to leave it open when I sleep

• M E L A N I E •: Nothing has ever worked for me, not even this... imma keep searching

Shelley Ross: Look for 100% silk scarves at thrift/second hand stores

Aurora Charming: My hair looks mental in a scarf it's a bit shorter than yours I only do it because I don't shed as much

Maggie: Janelle's video on medusa clipping is great!! https://youtu.be/Nvw2oX9x_6U

Gobiwawyd: Why is her hairline better than mine

Cat Not I: I think the reason why your hair is sticking up is because you are using a synthetic scarf.. just like a poly dress would charge up with friction.. I know it's an old video but just incase someone else wanted to try this. This look looked great on you btw..

H. N: I don't care about hair cuz I need comfort sleep.

Nini: i tried sleeping with it it slips off all the time

blktauna: Who with curls dry brushes??? OMg I'd have a rat nest even if I could get the brush through it...

ALittleMermaid: I don't have a silk scarf

Wolfie: You are soooo beautiful!

Paola Ortiz: Will a bonnet help?

Indhuja Selva arasu: Kindly reply mam

Mariana Larkin: Do u have layers

Monica K: Decent content but the commercials that randomly show up mid-sentence are THE WORST. Don't think I'll be coming back to this channel for that reason. I prefer to watch the videos up front and/or afterwards.
