Hi guys, so this is a tutorial on dip dyed hair, I'm going to be putting purple into the bottom of mine, and this is what it looks like. So if your hair is already on braids or blonde, then this should work fine. If not, you can just pick up a highlighting kit and follow the same process. So to start off, I'm just going to pop my hair in half. It doesn't have to be done on clean here. This is second day hair. I think and then I'm just going to brush it through so there's no knots and tangles and then tie it into two little ponytails cool and then you just wan na shampoo the ends of your hair. So once the shampoo just wan na towel dry them and then I'm going to take the two little ponytails out and then measure down with the bubble, using that as a marker to where I want the guy to go to using the bubble, is like the cutoff Point to the to where the dye should go. Have you joined them together? Then you know it's going to be even on both sides: okay and then, if you just take a carrier bag like a plastic shopping bag and I'm gon na tie it round me neck. A bit like a bib, this just makes it so much easier when you're applying the collect. So I'm going to take my color and some conditioner a tinting brush and a little pot. So I'm gon na put the color in the little pot and then I'm going to apply a little bit of conditioner. This is optional. This is just so that it's not a really dark color and then I'm just going to apply it to the very ends of me hair. So you have to make sure you get an every individual hair. You just have to apply it really really thick and work. It through the hair and then don't forget to flip it over to get the other side as well. Okay and then, if you take a comb, you can comb it through. So it's a more even coverage of color and then with what's left in the pot. I'M going to add more conditioner and then mix that up and then apply that above were applied. The original color so applying the conditioner will make sure you don't get any of the sink like that and applying the conditioner and we'll make it fade up because it's dilute and look alike. It'S diluting the dye. Okay, so I've took the bottle out now. So I can see where I'm up to and I'm just going to comb through okay. So I'm happy with that. I'M gon na fold, the bottom of the bag off and then the sides and then roll it up, clip it into place. And then I can just leave it there for 30 minutes, because that's how long it says to leave it for on my particular part of die. Okay, so three minutes is up, I'm going undo the hair and then all you need to do is rinse the hair until it runs clear and then wash and condition your hair. And then you don't so. I'Ve left mines we're dry because didn't want to apply heat after I've applied. I - and this is what it looks like so you can see where it's faded a little bit from you add in the conditioner. These are a few tips about maintain and your hair, and that is everything so thanks for watching guys, you got any questions. Just leave them below bye,

Trak: great instructions, makes it so easy, thanks

charming-gal: How long does it usually last for? I want to do it over the summer holidays and do it at the start so would it have faded by the end? They're six weeks long but the school would probably let me away with it for a week or two after. Thanks! xx

justfordaisy: Wow! Thanks sooooo much for this fabulous tutorial!!! I did my hair tonight. Great tutorial. I posted a pic on my Facebook page Just For Daisy if you want to take a look!!

Life of Gem: It lasted about 2/3 weeks, it faded to a nice lilac (theres a picture on my blog under the Dec tag) It's easy to touch up though if you want to keep the brightness :] x

justfordaisy: Wow! Thanks sooooo much for this fabulous tutorial!!! I did my hair tonight. Great tutorial. I posted a pic on my Facebook page Just For Daisy if you want to take a look!!

Issabella Parnwell: that was really helpful thanks just done mine :) xxx

Mere Moomaw: I used this method abd it was great. I looked at several other videos abd they made it so difficult. Today i did this to my hair and two of my nieces hair. They am turned out great! We only did one color because this was my first attempt. Thanks for the help!

Life of Gem: It depends on the conditon of your hair before you start. Mine was fairly healthy, so the bleaching was only a little damaging. After a couple of hair masks and not using a lot of heat it was still in good shape! Also, because it's just the ends of the hair, a trim helps clear up the damaged bits.

bluehairboy: Great tips!! I love the bag idea!!

14EvaMs: Wonderful ! I'd juste like to know how much time did it last and how much does it cost in supermarkets ? Does it last longer if you ask a hairdresser to do it, and then how much does it usually cost ? Thanks very much I love your color, that's exactly what I'd like to do :D

tyler: Wow, thanks! This really helped!

Amanda Bossert: this really helps thank you!!

Life of Gem: So easy too! x

KatyShaga: Wow, that's a very clean way to dip dye.

Life of Gem: About a month before I had to touch it up (I wash my hair twice a week), but it faded to a nice lilac colour :] x

Jess Wrong: This was a really nice, calm and informative video to watch compared to the annoying American vloggers I've had to endure to get here! Saw so many ten-minute monologues of people just talking about themselves rather than the process and giving no useful information or tips. This is an old video, but thanks anyway!

Jess Wood: Wow, your so pretty! And thanks, I'm dip dyeing my friend and I's hair this weekend! Wish me luck!

Life of Gem: Depending on how much you wash your hair, it will fade but can last for around 2 months. x

Lara Lee: I love that so much have been looking around for the perfect look, what brand of colour did you use.

Life of Gem: Hey! It faded to a lilac colour, and eventually look blonde again after a while. I bleached the lilac colour out to go back to ombre.x

sareese roberts: Omg !! You sound so much like cher lloyd it is unreal ! Love the vid and what dye and colour did you use ? X

michelle laughlin: I've been dying my hair for a while now and this shopping bag trick just blew my mind

Life of Gem: Hey, I found with mine that it did fade out back to the blonde. However, if you want it to be a full blonde, you would have to apply more bleach, but only for a very short amount of time because it works really quickly. I did this too and it worked fine :] just make sure you use a hair mask or leave conditioner on the ends afterwards! x

Fara hamzah: It's so pretty!

Ashley Pereira: I really liked that! I'm dying my hair tomorrow!

Life of Gem: Glad it worked for you! :]

Life of Gem: Glad it was helpful! :] x

Alice Haste: That was helpful, thank you

Dhara Patel: So pretty!!!!

Adrienne Reno: i had my hair ombre but I dyed it back to brown in august. a lot of the brown faded back to the bleached blondish color though so do you think I would be able to do this look without rebleaching my hair?

sara m: I need advice. This is going to be my first time dying my hair, and im not sure what technique to use. Im thinking this method or dying it with kool-aid. I definately want purple, and my hair is dirty blonde/light brown. I think this method has a much bolder color and will stand out more, but is semi-permanent. Also, I am not expirienced with using dyes. The kool-aid method works for pretty much all hair colors and is less permanent, but I am looking for bold colors. What should I do?

ayy_3.20: Best tutorial ever!

JuliannasChannel14: how long does it stay? :)

April Sheree: Best video I have come across for this type of hair dying!

Amy Stanyon: Hi, I have the same dye and I want to try this... how long before it began to fade? And what kind of colour does it fade to? My hair is similar colour to yours. Thanks :)

icclegirl: That looks so good

Jessica Vanasco: hey! I have hair exactly like yours with the same blonde on my ends.. when the paintbox dye faded out did it eventually go back to the blonde colour? what happened when it faded? Thanks! :)

Nicole Ann: I still have a little bit of red in my hair from when I dyed it red back in May so red should work well for me:)

Amanda Kirkham: My hair has taken at the very ends, but I want it more vibrant. Can I safely do it again same day? Using crazy colour. Lovely clear instructions and very calm approach too- keep on blogging! Watched your braid and curls blog too!

Aneta Urbanová: what did you mix the colour with ? :) thanks

chris: How long did it last? And I have dyed blonde tips in my hair but my roots and midlength are the same color as your roots do you think the purple would even show up on the roots and midlength of my hair?

rocky glach: That looks awesome

Kenia Villasana: so helpful going to try this!!!

Alice Mae: great tips with the bobbles and bag, gonna try that.

Fisher OfMen: Helpful Tutorial! You're adorable!

Osnat Eshed: his! I really liked the video! i have 2 questions, I have brown hair, I need to dye it blonde before Im dying it purple\ blue\ something like that. After the colour fades, I need to dye it blonde again before Im dying it purple (again)? and the seconds question is: After the colour fades, does it completely fades? I mean, you can't see any leftovers? thank you, and I'm so so sorry for my bad english

Life of Gem: It makes the clean up easy :]

Esmi Flores: I recommend you first bleach the hair parts you want to dye (if you have brown hair) then you use splat, I really recommend you use splat hair dye

hipopayo: I really like your tutorial. Thanks for this cool vdo :D

Sharla Johnson: pretty and good ideas on how to part it and wear it while dying

juliana: How long does this stay in for?

May Bullough: i want my hair to be dip dyed blonde for school and stuff, but over the summer i want it purple, so if i did it blonde and then purple would the purple fade back out to blonde after a summer do you think? x

star celibrium: I watched like 20 other different videos and for some reason yours is my fav.

dyhtps w: Thank you so much for this video

Helzz73 Cottrill: Great thankyou, gna have a go at this tmorw, very simple ...

Maddy Ames: Where can you buy the dye ? And how much does it cost ?

Stephie A. Smith: wish my hair was long enough to try this method lol... my hair is definitely too short but I'm still going to try a dip dye on it
