I'M Eli only so Brooklyn, I see they'll always make sure you capes nice and straight yeah. Everything for all my assistants who don't watch their live, but they should Cape should always be straight. Cake should be out in the back of the chair and we got a towel on hand. Now we're just come from the backwash and at the back watch what we do Olivia. What should we do at the back questioner? What do we use? Okay submerge? What happened? Why? No the treatment dodging getting expel all the exposure today before you start so that will comb it through comb it through and come. This is a nice white color white youth town which makes it nice and smooth yeah, [, Laughter, ] I'll. Tell you why? Because we need taking the client blessing, she wants us to have a river running down a cake. You know make the experience of less experience as much as possible. That'S what I would suggest. I would also suggest that the products not at the backwash that you need then just check before you start with make an assessment on how you can get that product yeah. I got ten twenty thousand whip treatments in that warehouse. We got nothing at the backpack yeah. Okay, so now we've got economic, no yeah, you pictured there Gracie. What'S your last name, Racing racing government, guys name and we are live with Gracie Redman? Okay, so she likes shot up PC. I'M gon na set the piece a little shot around the front. We'Re not gon na do a small it we're gon na. Do a skillet, the next best thing and we got Dana filming so feel free to ask questions. We have a question already. Rick asks. How do you avoid the burnout from working so hard, yeah yeah, the Chia okay question? Actually, no razor, let's go it's a classic razor. I said nice color this one V for victory place. The blade right into your hand, push so the tank sits into the palm. Just your fingertips, we're gon na use a razor because she wants that PCP or if it's to one that has fine. So if it's to blunt, then it's not gon na look as good. They do she's Dana they're. Not I just don't wear them a lot. They'Re! A little uncomfortable I'm trying to break them in yeah they're really shiny, though yeah it's my second time, but it's my first time with the little tripod thing down the center back. That is how I hold the comb, the raisins out of the way you take a nice healthy section, especially at the beginning. You I tend to find a lot of hair stylists. They tend to do a lot more. I don't like the chance of the trinomial. Could somebody see what happens? Is you got ta check everything all the time, all the time walk around with your eyes wide open when I first started doing Hennessy my boss said to me this is going back to 1936 in the saloon. Look at it to see whether you know look and see what's going on in the salon, so that plug in that's why the flood to break that's where the blood dry is break, I'm going to show you this I've initiate when you get my other camera. Sorry I got ta come back, stay focused Nana router. This plug is hanging out like this. That'S your drives. Gon na blow up the plug is gon na mount and the DRI is gon na blow up. Hmm all right does. Did you know that Dana? I don't know that, did you know that melibea right, if you drive it, is not if your plugs not all the way in you're a jeopardy of breaking your dryer and the station lesson number one. My boss said to me: when you walk in the salon, make sure you think of it, as is your place, is still dealing with them still think. Okay, let's put our lining, so the line is going to be right around here. The first thing we do is we actually we're not going to go to clean, because I want to a little softness. Are you close enough there, Dana you're, all that way away come on Dana? I got ta treat you today. We'Re gon na help you, okay yeah, so you look at the texture. I got ta come in a lot. You see the texture, that's what you're trying to create so get closer to me. Dana! You can do it. It'S okay, I put the so I'm the blade is flat, so the blade is flat coming down there. The reason why the blades flat coming down the hair is, I want to get some softness and some peace Innes notice, how I cut hair before I cut hair, and then I place the blade in and I'm getting about 3/4 of an inch worth of texture on The on the ends you work from the inside out, so this way - and this way just check that the raise is very forgiving, because it's a soft line, not a hard line. Take your knife head down that you can cut hair off without it being you, don't wan na set your sections to fine, because the blade will go straight through in the same cell and you're, not gon na make the sections too thick, because if you make your Sections too, thick you're gon na feel, like you're, soaring through sorry through the hair, and I'm just gon na use a little tip. This is we call this tipping? This is a tipping technique. Did you teach class this weekend? You didn't teach raise the fundamentals you didn't get chosen, I did all Dana did yeah. It was really good yeah, I taught with Maria grace yep yeah. It was really fun. We did a demo, you did them. I did Maria grace. Helped me out too, though, one length razor Bob yeah like that focus not that piece. I just comb that piece out focus that see look at your line and look at the softness. That'S what you folks, you know, I don't know she's not moving their camera at all, so I'm just gon na stay with you, I'm gon na. Let you do it, but I'm gon na watch. Okay, we had a question earlier. When are you going to LA? I think I'm actually going to Oakland and then I'm going to Los Angeles, but I'm not a hundred percent sure, because I've got a lot of things to do before then. So I left find out and I'll post it when I know where I'm going, but I'm definitely going to LA I'm doing two in salon programs and I'm gon na be joined by two of my team members, AJ and Christina we're going to the West Coast baby. California, your section is nice and clean: keep it clipped out of the way nice and smooth, I teeth off the comb, but you come riding at the base of the section and just melt that hair away working always to the edges, so you're working from the inside Out, that's the best way to do coming down of a lock nice little piece in us through the edges. Little softness, simplistic cut. Today, that's okay! You know it's always about. You know, making sure that your points, you know so, I think, enjoy the variation. People would say what shall I do in the best I like variation, the best on shark midland, whatever it is just have a busy weekend. I went out to Albuquerque this past weekend. It was a battery a big weekend in a row geo land, because we were part of the fuel event which was pioneered by one of our ambassadors. Tracy. We had lots of ambassadors there. Brian was there Steven Adams was there David gap, Jason's the square root family. So it was a fantastic event and then I turned around so while I was there, we had two classes on in New York that I raised the fundamentals class and we also had American Wave certification, so we had two classes this this past weekend. I also had somebody out doing in salon as well, and I was also traveling with that. With that Tara Murray. She came and met me in Atlanta and we did the icons and influences event for L'Oreal, so it was a very busy and productive weekend for the Euro show crew. This weekend, I'm heading off to Dallas. I have a new account in Dallas and I'll be heading out there to do it in salon for the new account in Dallas. So I'm excited for that. The big weekend event coiffure, it's a big hair weekend in New York City. I'M sure I get to see some of my hairdressing friends, but I'm not here for the show I will be fly you to Dallas Todd dowel asks if you're not really comfortable using a razor. How do you get the same softness with scissors? You get the same. Razor but you get the raise that takes you, God of blades Todd, yeah you're, really not comfortable using the race, usually because it's a straight blade and you could really like you yeah I'll slice, your finger, so there's a God does erase that. It'S posed like this. That we give to all of our students in their student kit so and they get the razor with the guards and the razor with the guards you can practice super safely. That'S the best way, if you're not comfortable, with a razor with a straightedge practice. With that a guarded blade, you can't get the same effect Allah says, then you can get a similar effect with a scissor. It'S all point cutting, but when you point cut you cut this way and when you raise a cutting cut this way, so you scoop it up from the inside. Is your question mr. Todd Dowell and I hope, you're doing good all the way in Toronto. This is tipping we're just tipping into the hair a little bit using the tip of the blade come down for the blade and I commit with the white kids to come to I'll just check my balance. Now, let's come into the site soften this out coming to the side, she's moving! Now what I'll move it so we'll take that section into the side, but I'm going to comb it over the shoulder mm-hmm dance around in grapes, yeah comb it over the shoulder and now, let's just razor that in flat planar the blade coming down there less coming Up through the front because we're coming the hair back, but this creates more of a square align through the back, which is what you like. Fine teeth of the comb gets nice even tension. Now, don't forget, we have a big event coming up here in New York. It'S called a rodeo, inspired it's on the 27th and 20 eight of of this months, and it's gon na be a great two-day symposium and there's still a few safety-pin, always interested. We kicked off at the top of the Freedom Tower is amazing. Now we'll do the opposite side. Please! Otherwise known is: oh you've been here Dana about a year and a half yeah. For me, great yeah, I'm loving it. I work at a row show in Soho it's all new to then you come into New York coming into coffee or event feel free to come by and see my salons. Thus, our location is open. Seven days a week, Brooklyn's open six days a week and Tribeca open five days a week, both the Soho location and the the Tribeca location, both House cosmetology schools. Yesterday we had a we had a graduation with our barbering program, great work from my bothers. It'S amazing. What we can now, what teacher grace has done with those with those guys helping them with the barbering skills, so their skills are really top-notch and we'll have a new class starting in Tribeca, not badly. We haven't, we just had a barbarian class that and Soho. I knew one with our new class and you watch it. Can you get in there you'd like moving yeah? You know you're my new film er yeah, so my new film, oh yeah, yeah, so you want to go and you know like you know, you got ta like get with emotion, okay, check. You balance back check your balance, edging just to drop longer on this side. Just a little piece, not even a big thing, because I'm just gon na knock that collar off anyway, when I come into the layers, so the length is done. Race is still smiling yeah and that's time to do some face framing layers. But before I do that hmm where's the coffee from next door gum did you get one, I did they have good coffee. I do yes, I need it. I'M addicted. I really am. I got a headache if I don't have it: she likes it kind of messy and pieces Sally. She goes to Sally's the professional. It just allows anybody to come in and buy fella love. This industry love this industry, all right, white teeth, nice, big section, look at how I put my thumb here. I put my comb in there. I'Ve got the wide tooth. That'S like a nice thick section, all the way, nice clean section! That'S what you need to do! Why are you studying on this side? I always stand on the side closest to the party. That'S for the hydro, put the moisture in the spray conditioner, okay! I always start on this side because I like to kind of create the side, that's closest to the party and if I've been doing this for 38 years, so I'm I always know. Whichever way, wherever I started, I know which way the angle, the fingers and then just behind my fingers, I'm just gon na piece in I'm just gon na pace it in so look at the kind of natural fall. Look at how I can keep that corner because I'm not dragging it forward but really just combing their hair down second section: she doesn't have super dense hair, so we've got to make sure that we don't overdo it, but the same token don't want to do it. There'S nothing worse than an uncut. Yeah client doesn't really want an uncut. I want to come. They want to get their shape. The power of a great haircut really is second to none. I'Ve always said that I think because of the trend with hair, color and hair coloring being so popular and hairdressers pioneering and championing hair color. I think we forgot about cutting, so I'm trying my best to really bring back the power of a great haircut. Now when I say bring you back, let me bring back the pricing yeah yeah Reisen, how much to charge data 8888 - hmm good! It'S chargeable! We'Ve got to kind of push it forward because guess what no wants to pay more, but you know we got to show the power of a great haircut and apparently heck, that is the power of great service mixed with the power of a great technique. Isn'T a race you just had to say that he sections nice and clean, no steady tone, Darren's father, I start to elevate. You can see it start to elevate. I'M just working into the internet ends of it. So this is all about just getting the right proportion and the right balance. Does your blade get more open? Does he go back? Wow yeah, you know the more desert. It'S like sketching the shape in so the idea is, is not only were like, potentially get more open. You can. You know it's more open if you've got more air in your fingers. So when you've cut it, if there's more at length and your fingers, it's more open, it's a much more open stroke, but I'm not taking everyone to lengths. So I'm doing this, I'm adding a little texture right there, I'm just adding texture. That'S kind of the last section on this side. For now you just let that count for pretty no we're gon na. Do this side. Okay, again we're gon na go through with my hydro mist. It'S like it does here, isn't it he won't sing with Dana and you go out of the way on the headboard around the mouth. Just have a look and see so we're gon na start below the chin. Yeah we're gon na start below the chin. So you pick it all up with the fine teeth of the comb. All of our combs and tools and equipment is available on our website, our Osho pro calm and you can download that app from the App Store or osho social. Don'T forget, you can check out our new event, which is on October, the 27th and 28th. A row show inspired. You can check it out. Larose you inspire calm, it's an event which is designed to fuel all your inspiration and to get you to be much more aware of. You know human inspiration and it's going to be a really fantastic event. We kick off the event at the top of the Freedom Tower on Saturday night and we look out over the big city and think about what the next two days are going to bring. We also have the amazing boom-boom room for a private cocktail. Event is gon na, be our gala and it's a very boutique intimate experience with only 75 guests and be pretty spectacular. Your information on it check it out in a row Joe inspire calm and then really what you should all be looking forward to so don't know what I'm looking forward to is a tenth erosion Expo which will be at the TWA hotel at JFK, and you can Check that out on a rosio expo dot-com and that's how yeah it's going to a heck of an amazing event: that's in May 20 2000 living in the future. Alright, two sections done: let's just have a little touch point I'll, just call it such here and see if it's kind of feels balanced. You pull this forward for this forward. Yeah, it doesn't feel balanced. This is shorter. This is longer. So that's good. That'S why? The second piece touch point was an important one. Now I know I need to run a little bit more into yeah. Randy wants to know, are you actually cutting according to how she parts her hair, I'm cutting it to how she pops their head? Yes, but I'll be knocking this around remedy, so I'm not gon na. Let it just stay static in its own place, so I'll be moving and playing with it for sure start to pull. This forward now start to elevate, knowing that, maybe if we don't elevate it enough, we're gon na end up running into it being too long on her right-hand side. So you got to get the balance right. The difference between a razor and a scissor is a scissor. Is more clinical and a razor is a little bit more forgiving? It'S softer a scissor is that is more for following the cleaner lines, an eraser is more for training, the softer blended lines. Of course, you can do both with both tools, but that's kind of how I feel about it. One is a little bit more organic, it's a little bit more sketch, like that's the reason. Still looking a little heavy, I'm gon na elevate it just take a little bit more out, still breathing grace you sure what do you think so far, [ Laughter ], the inventor of the Monet, is renewing. I did two mullets this weekend that elevator cool holiday. It was fuel, yeah did two mullets pump mullet and Gus Mally yeah. What was the difference was more punk and one was more girl. Oh one was good because I shaved the sides and left left it long over the a cool yeah. That'S like a it old, Chelsea boy, mm-hmm, all right, so fine teeth of the comb flat, plains the blade melting, Grace's, hair away and then the tip of the blade. No. Well you listen to the consultation she really likes. Kinda like that PC field. She said, if you make me, look on picture and her hair looks thicker, so that's all going I'm gon na come this all the way forward now to transition this stuff into the back. I'M elevating look at how the comb goes right into the base. Wow. You moved in mm-hmm, look at this. Let us know if she's doing a good job on the other side of the couch yeah, give me feedback yeah just so you can tell if she can take it. Yeah just be real, be honest, that's what you want and then right here, just tip tip, tip, tip, tip, tip, tip, tip, tip, tip tip all right now. What I'm gon na do is I'm gon na come over this side. Take my section all the way from the center I'll come this over this way, just look through it. I'M gon na do a little scissor work, cuz, it kind of cups like 90, we're about probably 85 % of in their little shuffles. Oh, what's the price for your small opening order of the euro Joel I'm! Well! If it's an indie studio, I think it's 750. If you are a small Salalah boutique. So long. If you talk to one of our relationship managers, I would talk to valerian and she'll. Let you know, but they start around about $ 1,800, the more you kind of invest at the beginning, the more you kind of get commitment from erosion. You can contact Valerio on valaria at a rodeo and by c.com wife over there. I don't know why, because you're talking in it, I was just showing that what the hut, Oh someone's J, says, she's doing a great job, filming smiling: hey Vicky! You question: if you need more help, you can always direct message me for the products. Do the scissors and then I'm gon na, give you the information I'm going to use on a roadshow, BMAC five-point hose there's a beautiful scissors available on Rocio procom and now we're going to come through the center back, shake all the hair off. Keep it nice and clean keep my love be taking the phone off us. What are you doing she careful if she likes you pocket now we're at the top of the head, so I'm going to take the top of the head. I'M gon na take a section. All the way down central section, all the way down we'll drop out as low as she can balance, but as low as it goes. The chair, the erosion chair, made back over there over there is one of our sponsors for inspired along with a software company called forest, as well as our partners, L'Oreal professional and now I'm just gon na start to pivot. Around back of the head. Elevating the head. All the way up, the fine teeth of the comb, I'm just gon na find - and you can leave that I'm gon na turn it down huh. Now, what's going to happen later, this is for you heading we're gon na go from the back and then we're gon na go from the front. I mean it's time to style, hey you gon na style out there yeah. Oh, we kind of keep it pretty loose. The picture she sure will not too glamorous. We got something languorous last week, if I remember rightly didn't with me yeah so with you yellow it's very glamorous. Without long layer, yeah the big volume big volume about nice, it was the day was the ballet dancer? Wasn'T it or the ballroom dancer Dario yeah, I don't like it as for me. She was happy, but I, like my work, a little bit more. Wasn'T rough and ready she's from the Upper East Side, all those Upper East Side, people in the country, you just call them out mm-hmm. What did she say happens on the inside? It'S popping. It'S popping like you, don't go out in the world. Do you now? I don't go out anymore kind of [, Laughter ] when you get to the scissor, the nice thing. It'S dry, it's nice! When you wanted a razor you have to have you have to work with the wet with the head down. You can't work with the hairdryer. Just splits it I like to call this little technical, just sealing the ends, just kind of gives that at the ends just a little bit of all wood, I'm just a very light tickle, just a nice light. Little too elevate it up right into it. So, in a couple of classes left before the end of the year, you have an American wave certification coming up. We have a classic, I think I'd bounces a class coming up, so I had a couple of classes coming up before the end of the year. We'Ll certainly putting a counter up for 20 20 20 there's some new ideas for 2020. We'Re going to be doing some hair loss classes with Karen Garden. We'Re gon na do some dry hair cutting classes with the square-root family. So we've got some new ideas coming through for 2020 you'll have a look at our educational offerings and we're going to start to turn our attention as soon as they get through this month to creating my digital platform, which is why we did the construction, the renovation In Tribeca location to focus in on the digital kind of side of things, and that's what we're planning to do so, I always got new stuff happening. The new blow-dry is coming out. You excited by that. Finally, you know we have to start planning for the new year soon, as I've already started to think about what we're going to be doing, but as soon as as soon as I get through my event next week in two weeks, inspired. That'S when I have free time to really you know, focus in on next year's affairs, the years kind of done yeah. It is kind of done when I say the years kind of done. It kind of set pretty much with what we're gon na get. You know that December and November should be busy October's, always a funky month, people kind of hang off. We have the Jewish holidays this week, so it's been a bit of you know crazy week, [ Laughter, ], Coffee time hahaha. It is now Coffee time whoo because you know otherwise gets to. I can't drink it. What are you gon na use product wise, good idea? So guess, let's get this shot looks like you played the shuttle itself for us. Charlotte'S first put six drops into your hand, so this is uh. How do you describe the shine? Look so if they're really kind of like a lighter, what does it do? It protects my hair from Nikki and it also adds a little bit more moisture show. What so does that is a hair, moisturizer kind of seals? The ends precious oils like that Sheen's of the hair. We said there was a little on the dry side at the beginning: okay Charlotte's. Well, it's a heat protector contains hyaluronic acid as well, which is the moisture bind that binds a little bit of moisture to the hair, which is fantastic. I don't think I'm gon na use, wait, mist change my mind. I like to change my mind from time to time. I'M gon na use drive the wave. Miss would be good, he's gon na wet the head down, don't wet it! I'M gon na try it again. Yeah, so let's just kind of use that shiner, you just add a little before death, then we'll use the try conditioner this one. This is the rose, your dry conditioner, whether you want to come down here, whole sections for me, look they're asking you to speak up. [ Laughter ], why wouldn't you use the D frizz serum? Do you first and we'll kill this head it'll be too heavy? That'S a high grade silicone the high grade. Silicone is gon na collapse, the head, so she doesn't walk now. She'S already got fine hair, we're making a hair look thicker, that's what we're doing we're, making a have a thicker, and this is hydrolyzed keratin. It'S gon na add a little more structure and strength to the hair. So what we do is we take sections and we're going to through I'm gon na douse it in dry condition, which is a dry spray, not a wet spray, so we're not mixing the hair wet. It'S gon na smooth the hair out, it's gon na, add a little silk and it's gon na work really nicely with that with our rum, Shango, subtle think about your products, learn the products study the products. I look at my product line, I'm always thinking or do I need to bring up more new stuff, like brands, bring out so much new stuff that I think that it's overwhelming I don't know how necessary it is. It'S like an inner conflict with myself to think. I need new stuff new stuff new stuff. I say to myself: I don't know whether I really do need new stuff yeah. If you've got great stuff great products then use them think about our industry and how its moved and evolved yeah. So if you're thinking about you know just think about companies like we've gone from loads of products like with the bumble family to like very few products, we'd like perfect hair and hair story - and you don't need any product, so where's the integrity and that same development. Then you think about you know other brands that bring out so much stuff. I feel like we've got so much stuff. We don't need to continue to keep bringing out stuff. We are going to be doing a brand audit of erosion in the next 24 months. What that means is we are now going to start to lock that what's the winner, what needs to be may be enhanced, improved reworked, because those things also have to happen because there's times change, trends, change and fashion changes, and also we get discovery with ingredients. The other thing that's really exciting is we are also going to be venturing into the skincare realm. Who knows we are going to be offering aesthetics at the aeroshell school. So it's not just going to be a cosmetologist school. It'S gon na be an aesthetic school. So I suppose, taking a slight place, it's taking a slight page out of not that they invented it meticulous, like page anitya, Vader, family, so they're into schools, and we have schools, they do st ology we're gon na. Do it and a very strong brand culture? And that's something that I'm really into so once we do. Our brand audit we'll see what happens gon na be exciting to them, so aesthetics we'll be launching at the end of this year, ready for 2020 2020 so stay tuned. So in our schools we do barbering. We do cosmetology and then, when we do an aesthetics, okay sprayed out there, you go all dry conditioner, all right. Let'S get the diffuse and we're diffusing and then we'll dry. This off stage doesn't take a lot to dry she's, already relatively dry, we're not going to cut anymore, so that thing will come up what kind of diffuser the white-hot the Roseau diffuser. Yesterday I was teaching in the cosmos school house you go, nuts will drive. I teach him relief in Cosmo as well as flying when people say busy out of trouble and understand what goes on in my store, so it doesn't blow the hair at all. You can see that this is high-speed, doesn't blow the hair at all. Let'S move it! This is a great thing again, amazing. If you spit, sell any wire, can't get it salads so doesn't think about anything. Oh you color us out, man I'm coming around, but they won't work of it. I come on there, but I got a chia pet. I don't like that and I think it's a hindrance firing. I think it's just the bottom that bothers me. I know not up and down dry, that by the hair out, you can place it on we're gon na burn. It don't put the elastic to the back of the dryer, not here you want to get as much air in the front as possible, yeah about Happy Mondays coming up on December. The second will be our holiday edition of Happy Mondays. I try back the location look forward to seeing there should be a lot of fun. I'Ve got four guests already lined up you like to have a lot of guests coming, be a part of what we're doing how we've got this brand based on Sinan, worked collaboration and never just been about the people who work in my business or for my business. It'S have been about everybody, that's associated with the business they're just running up and down to make sure you know. Is that a burn these guys get very hot, because why you moving unless you're close to the hair? I will dry this out. You go one way and the building that stays damp on the inside. It'S that suit dry outages. Please that see it it like separate. This is something we can see to find us to do so that they can do it at home. They can just twist it and leave it. This is an unrelated question, but Melissa. How do you get your teeth? So white yeah, it's a special white. It'S a white pencil Sally's! Look at those Donald dip lap! Oh Donna, [, Laughter! ]! You don't know! The hat is dry until it's cooled down, there's we can't feel the dump. That'S good, it's not hard to tell one way. The other way are you gon na get this completely dry, okay, which I can wish to play gin lady. This way, Hey, Hey! Let them loosen up a little bit, so you can get them dry it and now they're, starting to loosen out he's going astray. People were out today mm-hmm. What was the holiday young people? Was it wasn't? Oh yeah, no more fasting. Why we got ta be coming out to let your friends know I'm gon na be on the west coast, the importantly teaching the one-day race a class in November. It'S gon na be a lot of fun. You fall in checking out installation of some great salons out there and for them now so you're gon na go out there to support our always excited about that and anyone wants to come for razor classes. You can find out the information on the razor class on the loge oprah.com. Also, we have three Cosmo classes, starting before the end of the year.
