Alright guys welcome back to the regal gentleman youtube channel at the regal gentlemen studio. Today, we've got dan and the chair. How are you doing i'm good you're, good awesomely? Okay. So what are we doing? What'S the plan um, i kind of want, like i've, had a long haircut for a style for a while um. You know a lot of people have been growing their hair out, yeah um. Now i just i thought i just want to go on really. Okay, i i've done long hair and i kind of wanted to be a bit more like a like a medium long length. Okay, so it's a bit easier to handle and you've got options as well yeah i mean this is a bit too long. I feel like i want a bit shorter than this yeah yeah um. But, like you know some of these, like i mean not really the same manic. Look okay but they're all kind of similar yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah, in the sense that it's like it's very textured, very weird yeah and just kind of like you know you can have like a variety of styles with it guess this one was kind of like The traditional cut yeah, just you know, romanticized a bit yeah yeah, see i'd, say a lot of them photos you showed me. The the only similarities in them are is that it's coming up and off your face and back, but there's such a difference in length on the side in the back, so what the top we can. Obviously that's. Fine, we can work on that together, like the top. Is something that we can? We can pick the length on the sides in the back? How short would you like to go, though? Do you want it off the ears, so it's cut around the ear. Do you want it still, so it's sitting over there because like what? What is your idea of a medium length, i think for me? I don't really like it when my hair is over my ears and i just have to kind of tuck it back okay. So i would rather, if the hair was kind of just already graduated, so it's not on the ear but yeah behind behind. I think brush back behind or cut around at this length. Now it looks nice right. It looks smart because it's got length in it, but when it's sitting just on the ear it doesn't look smart or to what people think is smart. You know so i think yeah good length to start with is obviously cutting off the ear so that you know how short you need to take it right. So you've got that much length off there. I think that's, probably the most similar to most of the pictures. You showed me there all right so on the top. I reckon we come to the length on top when we've, when we've done the back and sides, that's the best thing or you can. We can talk through it then, but, based on what you showed me there you can. You can have a lot of options then, as well. Okay, um, i think what we need to do as well. I think in terms of length on the side, i'll just scissor cut it back inside, obviously because we want to cut it into the ears. But i want to cut it on the angle that you can still leave some length through the corners here, because a lot of the haircuts you showed me still have quite a bit of length, and i don't want to do too much of an undercut for you. You know i want it to be disconnected to an extent, maybe more around the fringe, so the fringe, the longest point. Everything else falls back into play, but to a point where we can still connect the sides because it wouldn't grow out well you'd, probably struggle when it grows. On a few weeks time i mean, i think, the hair, because it was longer. Obviously it's it's heavier. So it's really flat, so i kind of want there to be a bit of texture in here. Oh yeah, and i love the way you use your scissors to add texture, which i think yeah yeah. That'S a great idea: okay, yeah yeah cool. Well, i would, i would do that anyway, because you, as you can see it is, it is very heavy just because it's all one length right. It'S just gravity and the weight of the hair. That'S pulling right down. So good thing is that you can really see the shape of the face, though, but i think if you could you just pull your mask down a second for me. So i'll see your face, yeah but lower down there you go yeah, i think pulling it off. Your face would be nice, i think, having the option to bring it over just having options to do something with it. I think will be nice because imagine it being pulled back by having that lens taken off the ear joining me. Imagine having something like that kind of length and obviously then with length through the top just trying to play around with so i can start to see see i think that looks nice. I i i've just seen something that i think we could really do. That'Ll, look very nice, i think. If we keep, i think, scissors at the back and sides. I think we connect it lower down to the top. This might not mean anything to you, but i'm just saying to anyone listening and to myself, i'm playing out loud to myself as well to be fair, i'm thinking if we connect at the top low down here, we'd still maintain length here and i think, having that Slight bit of extra length that still connects at some point in the sides but allows you to move it around and play around with them. That'S always nice, okay, oh well! Thank you very much. No pressure on me now got the full pressure to make sure it comes out. Well, but yeah. That'S cool man, okay! Well, i'm gon na get on you up and we'll get started all right, paul right, so i'm gon na start by isolating the back and sides. So i'm gon na start with the horseshoe section. This is the best thing i think, working on the back inside space for a length like this. It'S perfect we're not going like it's like what we've done. Previous on some videos, we've gone quite short, we've clipped with the back and sides. I want to isolate the back and sides first and get that length in that's going to work for both of us. Okay, so i know dan wants it just off the ears, but i still want to try and maintain something through the top here, so that we've got a bit of movement. We'Ve got options if it falls into it. It looks still quite nice. It'S not going to overhang too much. Okay got such good hair, though mate brother yeah. I mean it's it's here that is very versatile. It'S gon na have it's gon na, be you know, you're gon na be able to do a lot of things with it. I think it will suit you as well. I think the long hair does does look good as well, but i think you are limited to one thing. Unfortunately, well two things, you know unless you were gon na, you know gon na spend a lot more time on it, but you know i think here we're you know here, can look good not having to spend a lot of effort. You know if the cuts is right and everything's sitting in properly it can look good regardless. You know you ready for this, so definitely not a skin played. Now. Let'S not do this. I feel like i've had that already there we go, i'm going to cut some length off and we want to take it off the ear. So i want to cut it around the ear, but i want to still maintain some length through the sides as well. So we can still bring it back, so i think the length i'm going to take it two on the sides i'm going to take off about that much okay, because that way, we've still got some length at the top and i'll graduate shorter into the size. But again very classic finish on this, but the main focus is the length on top and with that length being the corner up there, it will still sit back. You still have options to play around with it, but i can also connect it into the top as well and create a little bit even disconnect the fringe as well, which would be quite nice for this look there we go nice, it's nice and down like that. To find my guide, bring it out, here's my guide straight on like so that still sits nice and flat on the sides, so that'll. Allow me to take it just off the ear tied in the nickel, but still be able to add texture into the sides as well and also connect the topping there we go, bringing it in from the previously cut section. Pull me straight up. There'S my guide and bring my fingers in slightly just to graduate that bit shows around here. Well, i'm here because obviously, we've pulled that back a little bit, i'm trying to point out into the other perimeter just so we sit a little bit more natural, i'm just going to give him what he wants options right. That'S the the key thing about this. Look! We'Re going to try and achieve is that there is, there is one and one haircut that is quite it's been prominent throughout of all the pictures dan showed me, but also the conversations of the sort of things dan said. Is that you'd like to push it back? Another classic here called classic finish right when i think of classic, i think of things with. I think the new classic is my is my understanding of classic, because that's why i think texture movements brush back side parts - you know the modern day classic is what i would say. Were you thinking the same thing, yeah yeah the modern day classic don't mean like the fit 1950s. You know lovely taper line that kind of thing, i'm thinking more of the modern day stuff that kind of bed head mixed with the varsity college. Kid mixed with the sort of loose texture we're seeing a lot of now, i'm from like the 90s as well. That'S the kind of thing i'm thinking also, if i can give dan a few options now i know we we had. We had spoke, i'm not too sure if you caught on camera, when when i was just um, starting with the section book dan didn't mention a few hairstyles that he'd like now. The reality is, i can't give him like five or six hairstyles, but if i can give him a solid three, maybe even a fourth different look that he can create. You know maybe brush back side parts, just messy pompadour, um and even curtains. You know there's a few options we can do with this. Just by keeping a uniform length with loads of texture. My knuckles are getting closer. It'S done, scalp that just allows for a nice seamless, graduation, so the haircut that might, you might think, might take ages. Doesn'T actually take that long because you're removing quite a lot of length, so the sides are done now enough. I wasn't talking wasn't talking you through this haircut me and dan were just having a chat about everyday life, as you normally would do. If you were sitting in the chair decided to be done about less than five minutes. You know so it's not actually a long hair doesn't take a long time. Contrary to what i used to think, and i think people may still think that moves really nicely back as well, and look at that. The texture we're getting through that cutting it straight we're getting all that movement through there. So it's moving nicely straight out and we'll build up that weight towards the back. Do it smaller sections because we're going shorter, it's not just coming back all the time there we go. Let'S perfect, both sides. What was i feeling so far? I think it looks great yeah we're getting there. The way through my head actually filmed okay. So this is overcome down the bottom. I want to try to taper this neck in. I think a tape will look really nice with this, but again just trying to keep something that isn't going to be. You know super scalp exposure, just nice and tidy nice and soft. It just accentuates the back of the head more than anything else and also tidies up the neckline. It'S a very nice soft finish again the weird loose soft texture kind of thing. I want that to be kind of shining through this, just a nice tidy finish so switching from doing vertical sections to horizontal. Now, it's really really starting to perfect around the ears, make sure we get the so the baseline, the perimeter in now i'm going to do is just use the trimmers just to basically clean it off, put a nice clean line in there now to the top. So i'm going to work on this horizontally through the top, and i want to maintain a fair bit of length. It'S going to be mainly, the structure is going to be cut in and the rest of it is going to be called the texturizer for the secondary shape. So what i'm going to do working from around here, i'm going to cut in the top right. So i want to leave some with what i've seen before when i was moving it around was a scene. Imagine this being sort of styled out and i've never like this kind of loose length sitting through there. That kind of still sits within the hair. So still slightly disconnected, but just more as in you see more longer, hair come and fall into the sides, but there still is a connection there somewhere. Okay, that's what i kind of have in my mind, so to do that, i'm going to connect it down the bottom of the ears like i said before. That'S why i wanted to clean up the ears now. So i had this a guide where i could connect the sides into so, as you can see, if i pull it out, there is still a guide that i can use and this will allow there. So basically, what i'm doing is i'm over directing it down. So watch this, if i cut this section and you'll see what i mean just bring that down like so straight down, leaving towards the back straight down like so as that lies flat. That'S got connection right, but, as you bring it out, you've got loads of long layers sitting through there as well. So it depends on how you're going to wear. If you don't wear it in the kind of center part you can, if you're going to brush it back, you've got all that smoothness sitting through there, but it still is connected, and that is that's the beauty of when you're working in this of kind of horizontal Manner when you can still find a connection point somewhere that you can't see the disconnection or if it basically blends in, shall we say, you've still got a lot of length through there and obviously it'll get longer as you get higher up as well, which is the Beauty of it same thing again, my short layer as we get into that fringe. I'M going to do i'm going to bring this back because on an angle like so so we still maintain some length, see that corner the front as well like that. So we just want to wear curtains. You still can again just try to take into account different things, but you can see how well that falls back as well. It'S got nothing in it, just a bit of water, so we've got the right length for versatility. So far, okay, the same thing on the other side, now the first section's just above the horseshoe like so can we make this all the way around okay same again with a nice thin section right down to the ear, as you can see, there's a guide. The side pulling everything back so that way, we're still maintaining some length at the front and that you can still wear this hair. Okay on that side as well. If you want to just maintain that length at the corner of the fringe, there we go once it's nice and back as well. Now, the way it comes to the crown now so we're breaking this down into sections the horizontal section, i'm gon na pull it straight out. Okay, i'm not gon na drop it down like i was before i'd be matching down there. I want the crown to have a connection a bit higher up, so if the hair does come back, then it isn't going to overhang too much. Okay, bring that right back over the crown connecting it's not just going to sit and make an overhang, which again will limit the length and limit the styles that we can achieve. I mean i think your town is so underrated, like. I think everyone should go like comment and subscribe right now. What'S that on on this yeah, no honestly, i feel like it's like for the content of you know the quality of content you make it's like. It needs to be appreciated. A lot more. I was like well, i mean i think it is. You know i think you know it's not it's not something that everybody isn't really into. Is it you know watching haircuts, you know. So you know it's amazing. To be honest, how many people i meet, who you know, might stop me in the street or my just message me on instagram or something who i would never expect to watch now that i've got any understanding of what type of people watch haircut videos i was Thinking just people in my industry, but the amounts of people who sort of you know watch our videos who aren't even our industry is absolutely fascinating. So i think it's you know it. Is it really is it's great to come on this kind of like a trend like just to like watch satisfying like haircutting videos, yeah yeah, maybe you're right, maybe you're right yeah, it is, i mean i find it satisfying to watch acorn videos, but i never thought, Like you know, the man down the road who wasn't in the industry would find it satisfying as well. You know it's. The last thing i thought would happen to be fair, but hey ho. It'S not true. So it's great now just going to take a section across the top here like so and wet it down there into this section from the recession points just here, because i want to leave a better length in that front as well. Just so, we've got a lot of options with the fringe now through here, taking it right across the top of the head. Okay, like so there's quickly there. What you've got is a very serrated finish. You'Ve got a slight blend point because we're working in this horizontal section as well moving a bit more length towards the back, which will ultimately connect to the crown. That'S the finish. You'Re left with those super serrated in that corner that i've seen before i'll show you what i mean when we come to start at the end. I'Ll show you what bits that i see before. Hopefully, if you pause the video at the start, you'll kind of see where i was going with it as well and work through it as well and just cut that to match and now take a section just off center fringe. I'M happy with through here i'm just gon na cut into the top of the ear like, so what you'll see is we get to the same length at the front like so okay there we go we're finishing that length here see here on the other side, um Very serrated, certain sections, and you know the star cuts with the scissor so again just trying to mix with that texturizing technique and the way it falls and the way it lays and just off center, like so and just cut with the ear so maintain the length Towards the front as well, we'll do a work through the top texturize, now top quite quite heavily into it, with the razor to allow them to start in different ways and taking some length off as well from the isolation at the front and just cut through into The back so maintain a lot of length through there still, but we're just taking off that overhang. Okay, i'm gon na work through the top now give some lift some texture as well such okay. You can get away with really really working into the razor i'm going to cut into this, like so born nice and shattered over the crown there we go and just slide it through fringe is the only thing left to do and edge up now. We'Ll take a little bit off the fringe as well lengthwise we'll take off about that much okay, because there's quite a long length still in there about that. Much! I'M just going quite a harsh angle, so the ends are quite frayed and quite shuttered. There we go i'll do is just take a section in the fringe, i'm just gon na slide cut into as well mixing up mixing the technique up a little bit, lift it up, so that texture will also keep a lot of that length in there too dry. It off first edge, it out then style it so then brush for this, because i want to give a lot of air through it. I wanted to have it quite. I don't have to obviously a bit of height in there as well. I don't have a round brush, you can make it really perfect. I want to be quite messy, so nice, high heat, medium speed, i'm sure drive back okay i'll drain it off we'll give a bit more volume as well for the sides. Essentially, what i'm doing i'm just trying it all back. Only because that's the main thing that i wanted to be able to do is go up and back everything else will fall naturally into place. Pull it right out, so i'm going to style this with hair powder. So styling powder and a hairspray - let's get some volume in this, so let's pull the hair forward the roots just with your fingers, just separate the hair fingers and thumb like so. Okay now move it into the base. First, a little bit into the scalp like so and then we'll be into the hair. Now we could do it come on back like so the pompadours a bit more height at the front like so now, they're coming back a little twist through there. Let it sit back, you could have it in the center part if you wanted to so you have a very 90s sort of loose curtains. If you wanted to like that, so i think it looks really nice. Actually, you could have it parted over to one side which i think is suits you the best personally and what i was looking at before was these little bits here i like them, but to stick out there. They kind of give they've got a connection. They don't look out of place, but i think they just show a bit more definition off through the haircuts. That'S my kind of these are my favorite bits that i find you just give them a little twist. They just really show it off, but essentially you can style it any way you want on top. I just think wearing it a bit like that is quite nice. Slightly it looks you can see that on the cut, but it's not on the clutch. You know i mean still got a blend and a connection, but you've got that, like you said that little bit of a i don't know a smarter finish classic, but with a twist very similar to every photo, you showed me. I think i think it is. You know, i think nearly every haircut you showed me, that's it, but it's a few. I mean i try and encourage you to play around with it shake your hair. Put your fingers through it. It'S these kind of things that don't need to be set in stone, and then you get just a nice taper. We'Ve got all that length. Even the head shape sits nice at the back. You see the longer strands through it, just so what i mean, but everything's just nice and neat. I need to put the still length in the back inside as well. It looks awesome mate thanks for giving me the pleasure to cut it off mate. I think the color looks great as well. You know with the color you've got left in the top. It had so much texture too i'm gon na say i was gon na get scared because my friends, my friends, lucy lily. They were like by the way like you know: you've got color in your hair. When you cut it, you're gon na have random yeah it does it does, but in a good way, though, i think you've managed to get them right there we go man. Thank you very much. Thank you very much. You'Re very welcome. Miss um. Are you happy with it like that? Do you not really yeah in london? Oh, thank you very much. Well, why don't? We leave the hair at the um hair spray out, because in that way it's got the hole in there now you can just play around it. All nice yeah yeah, sound good, awesome man. Thank you very much man. It looks great. Thank you. You

Regal Gentleman: New game on our videos. Anytime you hear Dan say “Horseshoe” comment on the video with (can’t find a good emoji for guide - if anyone can think of one let us know). Let’s see how many there are in each video! Which other Dan catchphrases did we miss?

Matt: When I get married, I’ll fly all the way over to you just to get a haircut lol you’re amazing at what you do!

Dan 198-1: You can tell the level of care that goes into these cuts. Outstanding service you provide to your clients

UnderRated: The thing about Dan is that he makes the most intimidating haircut's also look simple with his technique

Abraham Jimenez: Amazing work! Your dedication and precision is something not found in many. I’ve been to many high priced and low priced barbers and every time I ask for a classic scissors cut I get a strange and confused look. This last barber I went to absolutely massacred my hair. I was polite and thanked him for the cut but my gosh it’s horrible. We need more of you in the States!

Chris Michaels: Freakin’ Dan … what an animal. I personally think he’s the best I’ve seen on YouTube. Incredibly versatile. I could watch this guy cut hair all day. Pure talent…

Dun Jel: Man, your work is both relaxing and extremely helpful for me as a hobby barber. Thank you so much!!!

Gabriel Pellegrino: Brilliant style! While he looked great with long hair, this style suits him well! The long fringe looks awesome and the fact that it can be styled to stay up, or fall down into curtains, or a nice side part, proves that you don't have to go short everywhere to have a manageable style. Ironically, many men with much shorter hair (because they wanted easier maintenance) may still spend just as long and use just as much product as this one. But this haircut is so much nicer. Glad Dan spent a lot of time showing him what could be done and so satisfying in the end.

valarya: not in the industry, but I started watching a couple years ago for tips on how to cut my husbands hair -- then stuck around because they're so satisfying to watch! Dan's a master. ♥

Lisa Mayes: Thank you for your videos. My 12 year old son has never liked his haircuts at the salon. And we haven’t found a barber like you in Oklahoma. So your tips have given me the skills to see my son smile as he goes to school with a messy kid length cut that lays the way he wants.

Alex Hart: Im one of those, not in the industry but enjoy the vids. I think it is interesting to watch somebody that is good at their craft. They are also relaxing after often a stressful day!

BAKA X71: I absolutely need a haircut from this man, can't wait to start travelling to get one. This was a great video by the way, very informative as to how one could tell their barber what to do and how they can style their hair.

FadedbyPauly: WOW this is an amazing tutorial! Well explained and the end result looks perfect

oompaville stan account: This haircut is definitely my favorite so far. Would definitely take a visit someday, and get a similar haircut, but maybe a little bit shorter

Jessie 986: WOW!! What an amazing cut! I’m also not in the industry and have been watching u for a while now. I love seeing u transform someone with such a great hair cut. Great job!!

Binky The Goddess Divine: Amazing hair, thick and luscious. Haircut looks gorgeous.

Andrew: His long hair looked nice on him, although his medium hairstyles suits him well too. So glad he didn't cut it short and lose all that precious hair. Now he has a great haircut that he can do a variety of hairstyles if he wanted to. Great job Dan!

Chandu P: Hey Dan Your hairstyle looks amazing..why don't you do a step by step tutorial of yours. ❤

Brendan Wienand: Absolutely smashing! Refined, classic and classy. With a quick clothing change and not too much fuss this chap could transition from watching a rugby match to an elegant soiree, all sort of James Bond-ish

Rolando Rimarim: When I saw his long hair I feel bad that he will have it cut. But when I saw how Dan did his cut with that pompadour-ish look is just game changer. As always im impressed.

Jed H: Quality as always Dan. Great hair on this guy

Meagan: I’ve been learning SO much from your videos. ❤️ Thank you! I’m looking on your channel for the cut most similar to Tan France and I think this is it.

Rodricutz: True goat barber to another barber I aspire to aquire skills like that . The amount of detail you added in the end with point cutting , texturizing , shorting the fringe ….etc ! Was crazy love the work !

Αντωνης Ραγκουσης: Man you are a legend and huge inspiration for us new barbers

Dates Express: Best barber ever …. It’s amazing how he caters to such different hair styles and hair types! Asian, black, white he understands all different hair types wow

Cassowary: Amazing work, like always!

Illest: Great video and what a great transformation good job! Love the texturizing and scissor work something I need to work on! Thanks for the video!

Arjun Gopal: With Dans accent and his soothing voice and also his fingers through my hair I think I will sleep halfway through the cut.

Kiran Kalshoven: Nice cut man, the hairstyle really suits him

Winsome Laidlaw: Actually I think people just like to watch people do their craft especially if the artist is good at their work.

Ahmed :): In my 18 years of life I've never been satisfied with a haircut I wish this guy would cut my hair

Wardan Jamal 265: Once i save enough money,i will travel across the world to get an awesome haircut from you!

Peanut & Blue: I want this exact haircut! been searching how i should cut off my long hair

Vllencia 2663: He will get tired of that much long hair on top. I have a feeling, next time, he will ask for shorter length all over the top and it will still have the look he wanted.
