#bobhaircut #haircuttingtutorials #shorthair

Today, i'm going to show you how i cut my hair into a cute little french bob inspired haircut and how you can do the same as well at home. This is the after. This is so cute and so adorable and it's so chic and it's going to grow out into such a cute nice summer bob this was the before in the back. I got rid of my wings. Finally, let me show you how you can do this. The first thing you're going to need is a water mist bottle. You are going to grab a comb. Everything is going to be listed down below in the description, so you can pick it up for yourself you're going to need a few clips you're going to need more clips than me. If you have thick hair, i have very fine hair you're going to need a a pair of sheers and a cape, and you are going to want to make sure that the cape is nice and snug so put it around. If you're going to do this for yourself or if you're going to do it for someone else, just make sure that you have everything available, saturate the hair with water, this water mist bottle is amazing, it's better than a spray bottle, because it just mists the hair And you can just apply the water where you need it now, if you're someone who likes to flip your hair from side to side you're going to want to part your hair in the middle, i like a middle part, so i went with the middle part first And then, by the end of the video i do switch my part, but to get the most even distribution of hair go for a middle part. It'S the best way to do it and then just comb the hair. All the way down. Make sure that everything is nice and clean, so you can take really nice clean sections for this haircut now you are going to want to find your apex, which is the top of the head. This is it right here. You want to grab a comb and just find the part of the head that rounds. Everyone'S head shape is different. From that point, you are going to draw a line from the top of your head to the top of the ear and then you're going to section that part away. So we can start cutting the back of the hair if you've been growing out your pixie. This is the best way to do this. You just keep cutting the back of your hair until your hair grows into a bob. Take that same point and then bring it all the way down to the top of the ear. So you can see. I went a little bit diagonal here because i was doing it myself if you're doing it, for somebody else make sure it's nice and even i just brushed it forward, and now i'm checking that both sides are even - and i just realized that this one is not So i'm going to go back in and i'm going to make sure that it is even i'm just going to fix it and then just clip away the front from the back. Okay checking again and i've got it perfectly. Even now we can start on the back of the hair and start cutting into that bob. So the first thing you want to do is just gather all of that hair in the back and make sure that you know exactly how much you're going to be taking off. I have a pretty low hairline, so it really depends on how low or high your hairline is is how high you can go. I could have gone higher. I want to bring this forward so that it attaches, or at least lines up with the front pieces of my hair so that it is nice and clean and i can get rid of that tail in the back. So i know that i'm going to be taking off about an inch, maybe half an inch, because i have such a low hairline. I have to be careful uh with how much hair i am going to be taking off. If you have a higher hairline, you can take off more hair. So the first thing i do because it's going to be really hard for me to take a straight section. I just kind of comb down whatever hairs are coming down and i'm checking for the density. Now i just want to make sure it's not too thick if it's too thick, it's going to be more difficult for me to cut okay, so starting with the first section, you want to comb it from underneath and then split it into three parts, making sure that You can actually hold the hair with your hands, so it's not too thick. You know exactly how much you're gon na take off comb it from underneath and then curve. Your fingers underneath put the comb away and cut into a straight line, making sure your head is tilted forward. Your head has to be tilted forward for this haircut to work. Do not keep your head up now. We'Re going to line up the left side with the middle part, so keep in mind that some parts of your hair are going to be longer or shorter than others, and that's why it's so important to have a guide. So your middle part, the middle section, is going to be your first guide and then we line up the right side and the left side together with the middle part. So we have a straight line coming across it's okay, if you have one part a little bit longer than the other. We are going to just check this again. This way curve it from underneath comb it and then make sure it's lined up see. I could tell that there was a corner right there that i had to take off and just keep doing that until it feels right now. I'M just measuring that both sides are good. This part had a little bit of hair extra on one side and that's normal you're, going to have one side a little bit longer or thicker than the other side, and that's why it's so important to always be checking now. Moving on to the next section. Just make sure everything is combed before you take your next section, take your fingers from behind your ear and meet them up in the middle, and that is going to be your next section for hair cutting comb. It all the way down and then check the line. So if you can see, i do have a mirror in front of me and a mirror behind me, so i'm actually watching myself in the viewfinder of my camera, so i actually have the screen flipped on my camera. So i can see the line. I could see. One side was a little bit too thick. It was a little bit out of line, so if you can get it as straight as possible, that's totally fine. As long as you take your time as you're cutting your hair, it should be fine. So again, we're going to do the same sectioning we're going to split the hair into three parts, we're going to do a middle section, a right and a left, keeping in mind that some areas are going to be a little bit thicker than others. Now you can see this little part that little wing there that usually sticks out is very long. Let'S go ahead and snip that we have lined it up with the first guide underneath, so you can see now i can feel exactly where i'm cutting. I know i'm not cutting too much hair moving on a little bit, so you're inching closer and closer to the left side, as you're lining up everything together so over here, i'm gon na be taking off a little bit more hair than i wanted to. But that's okay and i could feel it and it actually feels really really good, because my hair in the back is really dense and i'm okay with going a little bit shorter. I realized that my first section wasn't as short as i wanted it to be. Now. I'M inching a little bit closer to the left, so take smaller sections as you're moving from the middle to the left side and then moving into the right side as well. I'M checking in the mirror that i'm taking off exactly what i need remember. This is kind of your foundation cut when it's wet. I can always go back when it's dry, although i really don't want to it, can hurt your arms when you're doing this by yourself keep your fingers curved underneath again, because you don't want that flip and comb from underneath line it up check in the mirror. Put your comb down, grab your scissors and start cutting it. So i want you guys to see exactly what i'm taking off there. It is so that was about an inch of hair on some areas. I was taking off about half an inch. Some areas were a little bit less, that's just because my hair has been growing out from a pixie, and i did a lot of trims myself so make sure you check out the other videos where i do trim my own hair. So a lot of times when our pixies or short hair is growing out. It grows out at uneven lengths and when you're cleaning up your hair, like this, you really have to just let it grow out for a long time, until you're able to have a little bit of length that you can manipulate yourself and clean up and create a Straight line with, so that's why i waited until now to do this. Now i've moved forward, and now i'm lining up the middle part with the front. I can see a tiny little bit of a corner there that i can just snip off, and it gives me that sharp french bob liquid that i'm looking for. So that's the whole point of this haircut is, i really want it just to be a really sharp clean line as sharp as can be or as possible, clip away the two front sections. So you can check the back really well, because that's the foundation of your haircut see, i can see that little corner there. It was really really hard for me to cut bring it forward as much as you can and just keep lining up the hairs from the middle. As you inch all the way out and that's the whole point of having a guide is just making sure that all of the hairs are together and now i'm just kind of freehanding. This checking. If there are any hairs, sticking out, i'm gon na go ahead and just snip them right off. Okay, moving on to our last section in the back, just comb, everything down and you're, going to be able to see all of the layers that need to be cut once those are gone. We'Re going to have a nice straight line, we're going to be doing the same sectioning as we did before we're going to take the first middle part comb. It underneath curve your fingers down, put down the comb and line it up with the previous sections and take little tiny little chops. Don'T take one massive big chop with your scissors because you could end up taking the haircut in a completely different direction. So just tiny, tiny, little chops and then inching your way to the left and then we're going to inch our way to the right. Moving around to the front, to measure everything i'm just going to comb everything down and see. If there's any hairs that are sticking out, i do see a little bit here, i'm just going to snip those off and then i'm going to be measuring the way to measure the hair and make sure that it's even is to pinch it on both sides and Then kind of feel it with your fingers and feel it from the front. So this is a really funny. You close your eyes and you just feel the hair as you come down the hair shaft and if it ends on the same note, then you are good as soon as you have that foundation in the back, then your whole haircut is going to be easy. Breezy. All you have to do is line up the front now to the back, and i'm going to show you how i do that. So a lot of us most of us, especially me. We do have a little bit of thinner finer hair in the front, especially where it was a growing out of a pixie cut, a shag there's a lot of really messed up layers in the front that i've just kind of left alone. So they can just grow out. Now we're going to be lining up the back to the front and see you have to really comb this thoroughly, i'm using the fine tooth comb part of my comb and go ahead and snip whatever corner comes up. It'S okay! If you pull the hair forward, that's actually going to allow the haircut to kind of curve from underneath and hug your jawline. I wanted to keep the length in the front, but i do see a little bit of a corner. There go ahead and snip it off, and now you have a bob, it's so cute, so one side is done now we're moving on to the other side, comb everything forward and don't forget your guide, don't skip your guide, don't think like! Okay, i'm just going to cut this and then i'm going to measure it to the rest of the hair. Don'T do that! You have to go step by step. That'S how you get this really really it's. Actually. This is probably one of the most difficult haircuts ever bobs are very, very difficult. If you have to move your head, the way i'm moving it right now, then that's what you got to do then go ahead and do it shake your hair out? I'M feeling this! I'M loving this haircut so much grab a small handheld mirror and have another mirror sitting in front of you. So you can check that the back of your hair is straight. If it's not straight. We'Re gon na have to fix that. But i do see that one side is a little bit off and that's normal. It happens. I mean it's really really difficult to do this haircut now. We'Re gon na be lining up the back to the front again and just making sure that everything is looking good. I'M just going to freehand this because i do have a low hairline. I went a little bit over my hairline. If you have a low hairline, you have to be careful, because what that means is you're going to have to be shaving your neck every once in a while before i go ahead and blow dry and style, my hair, i'm checking that the front pieces are even And they are, i am loving this i'm so so excited to be blow drying. This let's go ahead and blow dry. I love the way it feels, but i am feeling that i need to check how the hair is looking in the back. You can tell there's a tiny little bit of a tail in the back. This is normal grab, a guarded razor which i'm sorry i didn't mention in the beginning of the video just grab one of those and start shaving your neck. If you have a low hair line like mine, it just gives just a cleaner look, even if you don't have much of a hairline, i think razoring your neck is a really good idea. Next, i'm taking my textured shears and i'm just notching into the hair. I'M basically just taking out chunks of hair that i feel are really really bulky. The back of my hair is very dense and it tends to just fall really heavy, so just take out the areas that you feel are really heavy. The texture shears take out way. Less hair than thinning shears, but you can use thinning shears for this comb everything out and because i'm obsessed with refining the line, i'm just free handing this and grabbing any pieces of hair that i feel need to be taken off and shaking everything out and there. It is, i feel, like a fresh new woman, it's amazing what a little trim it can do. Well, haircut, not a trim. Now, i'm finding that the front pieces or the front layers are a little bit too long. I want to take that corner off and just i want you to watch this magic, i'm using point cutting, instead of just cutting it straight into the hair. So a little bit of point cutting creates softness in the hair so that you don't have chunks of just blunt hair, and do you see how that hair just bounced up now, it's hugging, my jawline. So if you're looking for a french bob style, this is the little subtlety that makes this into a french bob inspired haircut. It hugs the jaw and it curves around the jaw, and it comes from the back into the front. It can also be a little bit shorter in the front. Now i'm feeling like this is a fresh haircut. Nothing is worse than having layers in the front that you can't cut, because they're too short, so just make sure that you grow your hair out enough to be able to do this haircut grab a texture spray, the one that i really love is from unite. It'S called texturiza and just apply it on the areas that you want more volume. If your hair is fine and oily like mine and if you've seen my other videos, i did a keratin treatment and it's made my hair so greasy. If your hair is like that just grab a nice texture spray and then pinch your crown, the top of the hair, so that you get that really cute graduated haircut and then tuck one side back. If you notice, i did change my parting. If you want to wear this straight down with a middle parting, you can do that as well, but i feel better with my side part and just keep playing with your hair and seeing how it feels check the back again. I'M obsessed with refining my line. I do this for my clients as well, and i just point cut into it instead of doing straight lines and there it is, it just gives that softer, look and make sure you continue to shave your neck. If you have to - and that's it you guys, this is the tutorial for this haircut, please let me know in the comments below, if you like this format or if you want a longer format, if you want a shorter format and if this video helped you thanks For watching bye, you

L Blincoe: Wow! This is the first DIY haircut I've ever seen that uses the same method a stylist would! Every DIY I've ever seen has either used ponytails or pulled the hair forward to cut in the front, and they usually cut on dry hair and hack it all in one big chunk. None actually cut from the back and do section by section, even the professional stylist created tutorials. This is truly how to do a proper haircut on yourself! I love it! Thanks so much for creating this for everyone!

Heather H.: Love this step by step video! I finally found a video I van accomplish I'm excited for this. My hair is nearly identical to yours. I cut my pixie 5 years ago. I've been growing it out. My tail is serious. I cannot wait to try this. I do have a question and that is how can I add volume around the crown? Thank you so much for sharing this. To me, it's absolute gold Xoxoxo

ninjv: Thank you so much for this video! You explained everything so well that cutting my hair felt super easy after watching this.

russolmt: You did a fantastic job! And explained it very well, thank you. I will follow if for mine!

Tina Collins: You explained this so well thank you ☺️

Lillian Louie: Love this! Will save this for my next haircut!

cagsy c: This is perfect cos I'm thinking of growing my pixie out so needed to see how to sort a Bob cut ‍♀️ thanks Lina

Regina Hanson: Love this style! You did a great job!

Denise Cahoon: Thank you for the tips and you did a great job on your hair

Amelia Sparkles: This video was so very helpful! Can’t thank you enough.

Jill Denovan: Lina, your DIY haircutting/styling videos are amazing. I have been wearing a pixie cut that I've given myself for a couple of years now following your instructional videos. Now I'm growing out the pixie into a BOB. This video is also amazing. Your videos are clear, precise and you are a pleasure to watch and listen to. Thank you so much for your well-informed tutorials.

stunning silver: Thank you, I am growing out a pixie cut and this is what I'm aiming for. I have beautiful silver hair and I want to rock this cut. Your the best at explaining, I'm going to do this cut.

Everyday Homemaker: I have naturally really curly hair, I just used the ponytail method in the back and did one chop. I already had layers as well it turned out well, plus I wear my hair curly all the time. I know for myself dividing my hair into too many sections, I will mess up and it will be choppy. I'm a busy mom of 5, so I barely have time for self care. I do the most basic haircut at home, if I want anything specific I go to the salon.

Grafton Morgan Jessica: Oh my gosh Lina I just stumbled onto this channel. First off when you had the Pixie in that picture series in the videos you so owned it, your just beautiful, wow perfect face for basically any style. Love this on you, I love the french bob look and with the side part so sophisticated. I have watched your hair tutorials just awesome. Dang, I wish you were my stylist. I just cut bangs for the first time, and I love them I am going to research your tutorials for bangs because in-between visits to my hairstylist I will have to maintain them. I have a short Bettie Page style bangs

Mila Paner: Very nice video.Thank you for this tutorial.

Phyllis Morris: I do like this format. As a person who trims my own hair, I find it helpful.

Stephanie Vincent: This helped a lot, thank you.

Mrs Kay: Love this video. Thank you for sharing at home way of updating your hair. Sometimes I just don’t have the time to get to the salon.

Smithsoni Hair: Love the cut! So super cute on you!

Faith Farkas: You have such a beautiful face. I also love the haircut. I’m growing out from being bald but my layers are still so short… I might be able to aim for this in the future. I’m just trying to avoid having a mullet and my hair is super thick. This definitely was helpful tips though. I need to do something with my mop head lol

Anabell Julies: Thank you so much I'm growing out my pixie & it's been a mess.this helped so much

cagsy c: Cant wait to do this ive resisted cutting it and now have a mini mullet goin on i feel like cutting the back tho, anyway thanks for all you do Lina, best wishes xx

Lorraine Oback: One of the best videos that I've watched today. Appreciated the rear view of what you were doing.

Bess9779: I saw this vid & had to wait 6 months for my hair to be long enough to follow it. I appreciated your info so very much!!!! Thank you!

Leeyana Phukan: I've really really thin volume of hair and this video gave me confidence to trim my hair short

Heather Facille: Thank you for sharing it looks great

Janae McKague: Thank you! This was super helpful!!

Kathy R R: The video I needed, thanks!!!

Wildflower: I find it easier to use mirrors front and back. Hanging a full length mirror on a bathroom door if the medicine cabinet faces in the right direction might be helpful. ✌️

Lillian Louie: Point cutting is what I prefer to the texturizing scissors which makes my ends too scraggly.

Kitty Lara: So beautiful

Rebecca G: I'm growing my hair out from a pixie cut too.

Dany DL: So cute!!

Elena Rizzolo: Good job! I' m not able to do that!

Josh Oman: Love the cut and tattoo on the neck

JoanKSX: Aww I should have watch this video before this morning my impulsive lip-length blunt bob! Anyway it turned out like... okay? With some mistakes ----- slanted at the back and left side shorter than right side XD

Javii 19: THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

isha oyang: I Love watching yr videos.. Becoz.. U r very gd n detail..

MH: Can u post tutorial on how to style it? I am growing my pixie and I am struggling

田中丸だよね: your ‘blind-cutting’ skills are superior!

Anya n: Try this on thick hair. .....not so easy

Debra Gertz: I have found that in shops I pay big bucks to, they don't even spend much time getting the cut right, just snip snip blow dry, BYE. I have not had a great cut in a shop ever.

BadBadUn1Corn: I was waiting to see how she cuts the layers in the back…

Elizabeth Jacobi: Mine looks like a bowl cut should add in how to properly layer it

Polly Taylor: Iam afraid to cut my own hair It would be so uneven

cagsy c: Fabulous

Theresa M: Sooo cute

Angie Pham: Wowwwww…

Polly Taylor: Cute

Tugba Zarife: Minute 14:56 !! You have bald areas on your scalp that is the reason for your thin hair. Make done a scalp analysis.
