FAQ's

Q What camera do you use?

A I used to always film with my iPhone, but I just got a camera! Now I'm using the SONY A5000 to film and take most of my photos. Although, occasionally I still use my phone.

Q Lighting?

A I used to rely on natural lighting, but now I'm using my new ring light!

I'Ve had so many people ask me about my hair guess what we're doing today. So I don't have the setup to be able to like be in my bathroom and show you guys how I actually style it, but I'm just gon na kind of talk you through it. It'S so easy! It'S like, like. I said this a million times to people who have asked me to make this video. It'S so boring it's going to be so boring, but I understand why you would want to see it so we're going to jump right into it. So I got a lot of people. Ask me how I got the confidence to cut my hair. It can be really scary, especially if you have really really long hair and you want to do something drastic and like chop it all off. I have always had short hair pretty much my whole life. I had like an angled bob for a while, but it was always pretty short and I wanted to cut my hair this short for years before I finally did, and I just decided that I just was gon na, do it. I thought I was gon na look good. I knew it was gon na look good. I think it's important to have a haircut that actually works with the shape of your face. I tell people all the time. I don't look good with long hair. My hair is really fine, so it doesn't really work with that sort of style. This is the only thing that looks good honestly. Once I cut it off, I knew I would never go back like I will always have short hair if the rest of my life, because I love it just make sure whatever cut you're going for, is really going to flatter the shape of your face. Talk to your hairstylist check out pictures just be cautious, but if I would say, if you want to chop your hair, do it and so first I just want to talk about the cuts. I'Ve been through a few different stages of it really really short. I feel like every time I get a cut, it looks different and I pretty much always like it if you want to get pixie cut, but you don't know exactly what to ask for I'm gon na tell you what I asked for it's cut my gone through. Some trial and error, but I finally figured out exactly what to say so. The way I like my hair to be is I like to create a lot of volume here and into the back of my head. So I like to have a little bit of length, but I need some layering. It'S a texturising happening there, because my hair is really fine. The longer it is but like harder, it is to get any volume. So I need to have like I need to be short, but I need to have enough length to be able to like push it up. You know what I mean. I don't know if that makes sense. So whenever I go in, I always ask them to keep it they're going to go too short to keep it short on the sides. I keep it really laying around the ears and keep it nice and short and clean in the back, and then I always say if you're going to leave length anywhere. I like it to be like in the front like I'm going to have length. I want it in the front. This is weird, I don't know anything about hair so talking about it. It'S like I don't know if any of this is gon na make sense. So it's always what I asked for when I go and get a cut and don't be afraid to be kind of nit picky. I think the best thing to say is like let them obviously bring pictures, but let them know to keep it kind of long and then that way you can kind of like you can look at it and see where you want to go up. You know, because I usually have them, do it a little bit longer and then I always end up having them like cut the back and the sides really really short, but I usually keep the front okay. So as for styling, my hair, this is where it gets. Really boring because I don't do anything special at all. My hair is extremely fine, so I only get volume with this short. If it's a little bit longer than this, I have to go through. I have to jump through so many hoops to get it to look. The way I want, but when it's this short, I just throw some product in it when it's wet, I blow-dry it don't so. The first thing that I want to talk about is this leave-in treatment from pro bono. It'S 107 vegan, 1 percent gluten free. I didn't know that they used women hair products, so it's just supposed to keep your hair hydrated, which is great. I live in LA and it's cold right now August is winter. Now it's dry, so I like to keep my hair, nice and hydrated because sometimes when I blow dried it just like ends up looking. I don't know a little staticky kind of frizzy, my hair, doesn't it frizzy, but you know what I mean you shake it up and then you just sprayed in your hair when it's damp and then you just you know, add whatever products you want to afterwards. Any sort of leave-in conditioner is perfect. You don't need a lot. You just use a tiny amount, but I like this because it doesn't make my hair feel like heavy another product. I started using to keep my hair looking healthy and shiny is okay. I don't know how to say this brand, so the CETA sue, a besito. I have no idea. This is the Argan Silk'n serum, it's very, very lightweight. That'S the problem that I found a lot of serums having such fine hair is they're, just like really heavy, not so good. So if you're interested in trying a serum, the best thing to do is put it in your hair when it's damp, if you're putting it on your hair when it's dry, it's dry, so it's soaking up any moisture that you put on it. So it's going to you're gon na have to use a lot of it to cover your whole head and if you come here, look like you'll just look crazy because it's just going to like soak it all up and then just gon na coyly. So putting like a pump or two in your hands when your hair is damp and just running it through, that's perfect it disperses evenly and it won't look super heavy or oily okay. So after I've used the leave-in treatment or the serum, then I'll go in with some mousse. That'S just some volumizing mousse. This says extra firm control. It'S trust me. It'S not fancy! I have been meaning to get like a better mousse for a really long time, but this is like a target and I'm going to pick it up. I focus it in the front and then like here, but mostly like kind of in this mohawk section like I don't really go on the sides very much cuz. Otherwise, my hair will like puff out on the sides. Okay, so then I just blow-dry it, but this is just Conair. I think I got it at like Ulta or Target or something it's not fancy. I don't have any attachments for it. I just blow dried it and like run my hands through it, no joke, sometimes I'll, like lift at the roots a little bit. That'S it. I don't even use a brush like I just run my hands and then I just make sure that I like to keep the size down so that they don't poop out, because that can't happen. I like to use a little bit of this stuff. It'S from Redken and it's called powder grip. O3. This is a texturizing. It'S as a mattifying hair powder. It just comes in like a little she's got like a little hole right there and you just kind of like sprinkle the tiniest amount on your roots. It just helps create texture, so you just kind of like run your fingers through it and it just poops your hair up and the nice thing about it. Is you put a little bit of this in your hair, like in the areas that you want volume throughout the day? If your hair starts to fall flat, you just kind of like rough it up again, and it's like the back, it's so good. I love this because I hate using hair sprays because they just make your hair look like crunchy and gross, so this is a perfect way to get like the volume where you need it, but it's so movable like your hair is still gon na move. It'S not gon na look like it's like a helmet. Alright. So next up is like styling pastes. I'Ve always wanted to use them, but they've got freaked me out, because I didn't really know how to use them and not make my hair look heavy or gross um. The first one is actually dumb men. This is the styling paste. Fortifying styling paste does men it smell like dudes, but it's just like a nice light weight. Texture, I like the ones that are a little bit more creamy, less waxy, and then I just got this one from this brand. Again I see it sooo vicita, I think not sure, but this is just their pomade. It smells so good. I don't know what that smells like, but it's also good. Hmm anyway sounds like a jelly. It'S not super thick, but it's not too. I don't know how to describe it like what I guess. Usually, what I'll do is just take a tiny bit like I take the smallest amount like I'll show you this much I'll. Take literally that much like enough. It'S nothing and then I'll, just kind of like put it on my fingertips and rub it around my fingers. Oh texturize, a little bit just kind of like roughing up my hair and then sometimes I'll like smooth this down this area and like sides down but yeah I'll start off with that. Much and then just kinda like build up. You don't want to go in with too much because it can make your hair look like really oily. If you don't buy too much um. When my hair is this short, I don't use a brush and, like I said I just like rough it up with my hands when I blow-dry it, but when my hair starts to get a little bit longer than I have to use a round brush, and I Usually just kind of like in those areas that I talked about the crown and in the back in this area I just kind of like pull up at the root and we'll blow dry. It that's much. It'S like pretty self-explanatory, okay, so quickly. I wanted to mention this mask by way. This is their treatment mask, and I absolutely love it. I'M not like being on how you used to not be big on masks but um. I started doing them recently mm-hmm and it smells so good. I love it. It'S just a treatment mask you, just put it all over your hair, and I think you can probably leave it on for as long as you want and then just wash it out. I like to do these and then wash my hair and condition like do these before I wash my hair. I'Ve just seen an increase in moisture in my hair, and it feels it feels softer and it looks healthier so masks are always good, alright guys, that's it. Thanks for watching, I hope this helped any all the people that were asking me for this video. I'M sorry that it wasn't like a full-on tutorial, but I mean I told you was any more you as hold. You was gon na be Mourning. You don't have to stick to any of those products, their products out there that are similarly in the same vein that you can find from any brand. That would be great. Oh, you know what I didn't talk about. Shampoo I did want to mention I use Redken. I use it four kind every single time, but I just use the Red King, shampoo and conditioner. Oh yeah, that's another thing. If anybody was wondering I have no color in my hair, I think I have like maybe a couple of these like little extra blonde spots. Might be like leftover highlights, but this is all my natural hair color. Alright guys, thanks for watching I'll see you soon highlight that makes sounds look you're talking about I'm not wearing a black jacket with a black background is a good idea. You should change my jacket. Focus on my figure, I'm pooping you off focus on my figure, I'm flipping you off anyway. What wasn't talking about

Graenolf: Really helpful! Thank you. I guess my only thing is, when people ask me why I cut my hair, it's hard to say, "You don't need to know that, Grandpa." Then Grandpa gets pissed.

Mirela PRODAN: I got a pixie cut over a year ago, and it has completely transformed me. I never looked good with long hair, and it was impossible to tame. I've never felt more feminine and confident than I do with short hair

Zethrael of Teldrassil: I love my pixie! I wore the style growing up. Then came the waist length, then mid-short, and I'm back to the pixie. I think I look great in it. I am in my early 60's, and believe me, it really does wonders for you. I look and feel like a kid again!

Sara Cameron: If you want a haircut you should get it. I hate it when hair stylists say "have you done this before...?" Or "are you sure this is what you want?" Like don't be a doubt planter.. and once you get the cut you want, you rock it. Wear it with confidence and it'll work for you. If you're insecure about it, it will show, and it won't look right just because of that

Stefanie Bobusch: I always see videos of girls with thick hair, this is the first video I found with thin hair. This help me really much because I have thin hair. Also I LOVE YOUR HAIR

Jamie McLeod: I've always had really long hair, I just recently cut 9 inches off, And I absolutely LOVE it short. I now have a pixie. at the age of 38 AND 3 teenagers, this hair style just works so well. I don't think I'll ever let my hair grow out.

Barb6106: This was NOT boring! Omg, please! There are so many of us who need style help with short hair and ESPECIALLY us with thin hair!!!! Please! Any information is GLADLY accepted and I watch with joy..Thank you, beauty!

Mabel Alvarado: you gave me the confidence to rock my pixie, love youuuuuu

kahunawife1: Great video! I have the exact same cut and love it so much! Super easy and super fun!

Paula: My hair is thin and fine as well. I can't do long hair either. Ive have various lengths and styles of pixies and short bob's since I was 16 (30 years ago). Longer hair makes me look super frumpy. I always tell them to razor the crap out of it for texture.

GretchenVaughn: If you are looking for a good mousse, R & Co. Aircraft Pomade Mousse is amazing. I love Kenra Texturizing Taffy for a paste that smells girly. ;-) I put a little in the layers and blow it dry it and a little in dry hair when it's looking flat. It also works surprisingly well for fly aways (Sally beauty supply has a generic version as well). I found your channel today because of YouTube suggesting for more pixie styling. I'm so glad I did because your makeup tutorials are what I need.

Kali: I’m so glad I found you! I have fine hair and just got a pixie cut with buzzed back and sides. I really appreciate and love your videos!

Melinda Goodman: Your short hair is the reason I started watching your tutorials- finally someone who understands that hair beauty is about what goes best with your face!! That is not always long hair. I look old and tired with long hair but I rock it short. Class, elegance, beauty, sexy, or whatever lookone is going for is all about working a feeling, NOT long hair.

Nicole Wilson: I love, love, love my pixie! i was Like you where I had always wanted to cut my hair really short. I have thick hair and a lot of it so drying or styling my hair would take forever. Now I wash it, dry it and style it in under 10 mins, woot! Plus my confidence shot way up for some reason, not sure why,Lol. I too will have a pixie cut for the rest of my life.

Katie Leigh from CT: I had my haircut to a pixie when I turned 30 ...I'm now 34 and still rock it!!..so many people say how much they love my hair..and when it was long Noone said a word.

Tami Wilde: We have the same hair....thus I have the same cut! LOVE IT! You look amazing!!!

Donna: I love, love, love your hair, and I want this cut... but my only problem is I'm more of a visual learner and you're explaining it well, but if you could just do one video for me at least... Yeah all for me LOL ... from start to finish I would thank you from the bottom of my heart. I watch all your videos and they're all great. ,But may be just maybe, you'll surprise me one day and have a video doing your hair from beginning to end. I'll be waiting patiently

Simona Timosenkova: i got my pixie cut today and i love it i had really long hair and i only wanted my pixie for 2 weeks my friend is a hair stylist and she knows the best places so i knew that im going to a good place and i really didn't think i suit but i do and im so happy that i did it so girls don't be scared if you dont like it its hair its gona grow back so dont worry

Emory Batten: NOT Boring. Very fun and helpful. I am new to short hair and have never used products. Thanks so much!!
