Hey guys, it's Gina and welcome back to the curly hair care for beginners playlist. If you've been following along in this video series, you'll know that I've been talking about all the basics, with getting started with your naturally curly hair, if you're just transitioning and trying to learn how to take care of your naturally curly hair. So this one is gon na be all about how to actually make your hair curlier. Yes, there are tons of tips to actually make your curl pattern tighter and I'm not saying that it's bad to have a loose curl or a wavy curl. I think they're, all beautiful, no matter what type of curl that you have, but I personally like to try to get some really tight ringless, because I just like the way that the really defined curl looks. So I have come up with so many different ways, whether that be product application techniques or just little tips and hacks on actually how I can get tighter ringlets, because sometimes my hair can just be a total hodgepodge of different curl types. Sometimes I have really loose waves right at the roots and then they're really curly at the ends. Sometimes, underneath I have like a bigger like to a type curl, and so then the links are not matching up so, especially when you're transitioning, you might notice that you have lots of different curl patterns going on. If your hair is damaged, it might look limp. So all of these tips are going to help you with that, just to make everything a little bit more even and give you some more definition now, just a disclaimer. This is going to make your hair shrink up. So it looks like I just got a haircut. It looks like I have shoulder length, hair, but really a lot of times. My hair is more like down to here, so it's because I did all of my best tips and stuff in one, and so it looks like I got a haircut because if your curls are tighter, it's going to shrink up more. So if my first tip is to get a trim, you might notice that after you get your hair, trimmed your hair really shrinks up a lot. I'M amazed at every time that I get my hair cut, and I noticed this. I always ask for just a dusting, which is just kind of trimming off the dead ends and even that little bit just really makes my hair shrink up every time I get a trim, it looks so much shorter. It really gives my hair a lot more volume and more definition and stuff. It'S crazy. I actually air-dried the last time that I got my hair cut and I was showing you guys on Instagram and you were shocked at the amount of ringlets that I had without defusing, which was pretty awesome. So, even if you don't want to get like a big chop or anything just getting a little bit of a dusting to get those dead ends up really gon na help shrink up the curl, because if you have dead ends or if you have little fairy nuts, Which are those little one strand knots that can really weigh down your curls and prevent it from shrinking up one of the biggest game changers from me is using olaplex number three. This is the take home treatment. I'Ve done several videos of this on the path. I will link it down below if you want to watch it after this video, but this pretty much has transformed my curl pattern over the past year or two. I think it's becoming a lot more popular a lot more people are starting to discover it, but this is basically a bond multiplier and it helps repair and strengthen your hair. So this was originally, I think, developed to use on people who have like over processed and chemically treated hair to help revitalize it that way if they want to still color their hair, they can color their hair even after bleaching, it and stuff. So it helps repair. The broken up bonds in your hair and I've had years of coloring my hair, I of course use a lot of heat and I used to straight my hair, so this has made such a difference just to help repair those damaged strands that tend to just kind Of struggle and hang straight so if you have dead ends that are hanging straight and not curling on the ends, then you definitely need to cut those off and then also olaplex. That'S going to help just curl those right back up. This has pretty much changed. My curl pattern: it's made my curls a lot tighter and a lot of you asked after my last videos that I did do you have to keep using it and I would say you could probably get away with maybe using it once a year. That'S really what I like to do so I get a bottle. I actually order this from Sephora. I think it's like twenty-something dollars, but it's worth it because it just makes such a difference in my hair. It makes it so much softer prevents tangles and I've just noticed a huge difference with using it. So I believe the results last a pretty good while but of course, if you're still manipulating your hair, if you're still straightening it or blow-drying it like, I do diffuse with heat. So of course, I'm still damaging my hair. So I will need to do more treatments and keep using it, but I think one bottle a year should do the trick, so I'm gon na walk you through the steps on how I actually apply it. So I first like to section off my hair and I'm going to show you some little tips that I might not have shown in the first video when I did this and we're going to talk about training, your curls and now I've heard some of this. Before of where you can actually train your curl pattern to actually be tighter by twisting it when you're doing a treatment like this or when you're, deep conditioning or something like that, so that's what I'm gon na do when I apply this, I'm gon na first section Off my hair and by the way you do apply this before you shampoo, your hair, so my hair is dirty, has product in it. That'S okay, I'm just spraying each section down with water and then I'm applying this product and I'm also going to come through it with a Denman brush. So that kind of leads me to my next major tip, which is using a diamond brush. You guys have seen me talk about this so much. I got mine on Amazon. This is the five row brush and I actually did remove two of the bristles they're really easy to take out. You just slide the red piece out and you can pop them right out. This is basically a plastic bristle brush that is very wide spaced and you can see some fluff out the rows. The rows are very wide spaced, so it's just so much easier to use on curls because of that spacing it's not going to totally brush through your hair and make it crazy, poofy or anything, and you only want to use it when your hair is wet. It'S really gon na help give your curls really good definition. I'Ve never seen a brush do this before, where it gives. You ring once it's crazy how it works. I was really skeptical at first and like how can a brush give you tighter, curls brushes the brush right but know something about. This is just crazy. I know a lot of people also like using the tangle teezer brush for this purpose, but I'm pretty much coming that old Plex through with this, and you almost use it like a curling wand and I've showed this before. But I like to angle it in a downward facing almost like how we're using a curling wand and then kind of turn, my wrist a little bit so by turning your hair over this side. Edge right here is really gon na, give it that good definition and give you that ringlets to wear when you pull down the strand, you can see your hair just bounce back up now. If your hair does not bounce up when you're using this, then your hair kind of buildup on it, it could be damaged lots of different things, but in general I think that pretty much anyone can get good ringlets using this matter. What your hair type is so after I come back through I'm going to twist individual pieces, so that's the training that I was talking about, where you can kind of train your curls overtime of just making that same pattern. It'S almost like, if you braid your hair and then you notice, you have like a crimped texture, it's similar to that. So I'm twisting each piece in my finger and then I'm twisting those two pieces together, and this takes a really long time. I'M not gon na lie when I'm in a hurry. I just do the entire olaplex like all over my head, and I don't worry about doing this but, like I said I wanted to show you how to get really tight curls. So I do my entire head. Like this - and I let this sit for like twenty to thirty minutes, I just kind of tied it back, left it as is, and then we're ready to actually shampoo. So my next tip is actually to remove it, build up on your hair. If you have product build-up or oil, or anything like that on your hair, it's just gon na weigh down the curls, which is going to make them look a lot limper. So I recommend it clarifying your hair at least once a month, or so I like doing it once a week. It really depends on your hair type. If you have wavy or fine curly hair, you might find that your curls get build up a lot more frequently. So it requires clarifying a lot more. You can use something like diva curls, buildup Buster, which is great, but lately I've been using this shade, moisture, jamaican black, castor oil, strengthen and restore shampoo, and this has apple cider, vinegar in it and apple cider. Vinegar is a really great natural cleanse. I used to use that all the time you can just kind of rinse your hair out with it and then go in with like regular, shampoo and conditioner, and you can do that every once in a while, and it just removes any product buildup on your scalp And on your hair, but this also has shea butter peppermint, and then it has that apple cider, vinegar in it, so lots of good ingredients. It does have protein in it too. It also has the castor oil on it, which is really good for hair growth and for strengthening your hair. So now we're actually going to deep conditioned, and I know this seems like a long process, but I highly recommend deep conditioning once a week and the olaplex does not count as a deep conditioner. That'S more of a hair treatment, that's the bond builder, so you still have to deep condition and, although flex to me almost acts sort of like a protein and same with like using the protein shampoo, you have to balance that out with using moisture, because you can Get protein overload if your hair feels like brittle and hard, you might have used too much protein in your hair, which is great for strengthening your hair. But you don't want to use too much. So I like to balance it out with a moisture product, and that is usually a deep conditioner. The one I used today is the main choice: peach black tea and vitamin infusion. Masque I've done a full review on this line. I really liked it. This is the anti shedding and volume therapy one, but I like the diva, curl melt and moisture. I love this one. I kind of just switch it up every week and try something different, but this is just great a really softening the hair, so it really works. Awesome after using that Shea Moisture shampoo, my next tip, is to also that deep conditioner through your hair. I was just trying to be a little bit quicker with this, since I already did the twist and stuff with the olaplex, but you can do the twisting and using the gentleman brush method with deep conditioner too. So if I'm not doing the olaplex, I will usually do that full method with the deep conditioner or you can just section off your hair and comb the product through that way, you're getting those ringlets and it's kind of training, your hair, to take that same pattern With using the brush - and it definitely helps with definition and stuff when you go to style, so I've done a video on how to deep conditioned curls. I will put that down below, but in that video I talked about this hot head, a heat cap and it's basically a cap that you can put in the microwave. It just helps. Take your deep conditioning to the next level helps open up the hair cuticles so that way more moisture can get in. So I like using this my deep conditioned, I let it sit on my head for about 20 minutes so now I'm finally ready to rinse. I did a cold water rinse, which really just helps seal everything in and now I'm ready to finally style my hair. So I didn't want to go into too much detail with actual products, but I am gon na put some recommendations on the blog post. That goes with this video on actual products that are good for curl definition. The one I'm using today is the we dead advance climate control. I did do a video review on this. I will put it for you. It down below I've been having a lot of issues with humidity with it being so hot this summer, and this has definitely made a difference and a gel is going to give you lots of good at definition and hold so you're gon na get those really defined At ringlets - and it just helps so much especially in the summer months, but one thing that I wanted to mention is: if you kind of take a look at the product ingredients, there's some things that stand out to me that really helped with curl definition. One of them being like wheat ingredients like hydrolyzed wheat protein, any of those protein ingredients are really going to help with like restoring the curl patter and making them a little bit tighter, just anything with protein. I also noticed anything with aloe vera in it, so I do have some favorite gels like the bounce curl, light cream gel or the dippity-do girls with curls jelly. Those have aloe vera in it and I definitely notice a difference with curl definition and that really helps to create those ring with another thing that this has in it is that castor oil in it? So I will put a list up on the screen here and also on the blog post that goes with this video of ingredients to look for that really help with enhancing your curl pattern. But I recommend looking for products that say things like curl, enhancing or strengthening, or even defining those type of catchphrase words that are on the product bottle. Those are likely to have ingredients that are really going to help shrink up your curls. Along with that, you of course want to make sure that your creams and gels do not have any silicone in them, because silicone really weighs down the hair. You saw my video that I did on how to transition your curls to your natural curls and also the one that I did on the curly girl method for beginners in those videos I shared before and after pictures. So you can really see the difference and when I did used to use silicones and then now and how much tighter my curls are, how much more volume that I have because they're not weighed down by those pesky silicone ingredients that are in a lot of curly Hair products, so if you want to see more about how to look at ingredients and how to figure that out, I will put that video down below. It'S definitely really helpful and just breaks it down, really simplified on how to avoid sulfates silicones. All that kind of stuff, so another one of my biggest tips - is to use the Denman brush when you're applying your styling products. This is probably gon na make the most difference in your hair, because the other stuff is good for just encouraging your hair. To always have like a tighter curl pattern, but to actually get ringlets and good result when you're styling your hair, using the Denman brush to actually apply your products and help distribute them throughout your hair. It'S gon na make a huge difference. I'Ve been kind of addicted to using this. I used to never have it and then now that I have this brush, I want to use it every time, because the results are just so amazing, so you can either section off your hair and just kind of use. The brush, like a curling wand, to create those ringlets or you can just use it on your entire head. I like to kind of run my fingers through them just to kind of break up the clumps a little bit. That way, I can still get good volume because, like I've mentioned before, since my hair is pretty fine and I don't have a lot of hair, if I have too many ringlets, then they just all kind of clump together and I don't have a lot of volume. So I like to kind of just separate them with my hands and then I kind of just go around and spot use the brush, like. I just pick up random little curls and use it to define at my hair and that way I still have some ringlets on the top layer, but overall I still have pretty good volume. Another thing you can use the Denman brush for is actually when you're refreshing. Your curls you've probably seen me do this in video. I did that video on refreshing, my curls over four or five days, and in that video you'll, see where sometimes I will pick up random pieces and just kind of run. The brush through them you'll want to make sure that your hair is pretty wet when you're doing this, but that just kind of helps redefine curls that are starting to look limp throughout the week and really gives you some good definition and just helps really smooth down. Frizz, so after doing each section I didn't show this here, but what you can do is take a towel. I like using my hair repair towel because it doesn't create any frizz or you can use like a cotton t-shirt scrunch each section which really helps to shrink up the curls. It helps just absorb any excess product or excess water too. Another thing I wanted to mention is: after you apply your products. I recommend plopping your hair, I'm using a hair repair towel, which is my favorite thing to use to actually dry my hair. I just flip my head over and I have a video on how to do this. I plot my hair up to where it's on top of my head and the towel just helps absorb any excess water, but having it dry a little bit before I diffuse and dry. My hair makes such a difference and it also helps with the curl definition, because it's kind of sitting up on top of my head, so it helps with volume. So my last couple tips are just about diffusing now using a diffuser is totally life-changing if you've never used one before and you just are used to air drying. Using a diffuser makes your hair shrink up so much. It gives you really good at curl definition and gives you really good ringlets, but you have to be careful with using too much heat, so I recommend alternating between, like cold and hot air, or using a really low heat setting and also use a really low airflow Setting too so, my diffuser is by the brand crock, and I got this on Amazon. It fits on pretty much any dryer and then I'm just using an irresistible neonics dryer, and this has a really low airflow setting, which is why I like it. But I like to flip my head over and I kind of cup, all my hair up into the diffuser bowl and push it up towards my head. I like the diffusers that have those prongs or the teeth on them, because that really helps give me. While you met the roots, I can kind of use it to grab my hair and push it up versus the ones that are kind of flat and the teeths that, like down in the diffuser goal. So this helps so much you can flip your head over. You can also do this with your head, upright, which I do some of that too, like on the under side layer, I really like to just have my head upright that way, I can really shrink up these curls underneath because the underside layer tends to fall like A lot heavier like it, it's a little bit of a different curl pattern, so I like to do that up right. Another way that you can also diffuse, which I've been trying this out recently and really trying to perfect this technique. But this is a little bit less damaging on your hair and it doesn't cause as much frizz on your ends. It'S you can actually lay out like a cotton t-shirt or I'm using my hair repair towel or you can just pop your hair right over on your counter. You can do this on the floor on your bed or something anything. That'S kind of like easy to sit on. I, like my counter cuz, it's kind of out to my height, to where I can lean over you just kind of plop your head over onto it, and then you can kind of just hover the diffuser around that way. You'Re kind of plopping, your hair, to where it's kind of like an accordion. You know where your hair is kind of being pressed up by what you're setting it on to where you're, getting that good definition and your hair is actually drying in that form. It'S very similar to plopping, but you're drying it at the same time, so that is all my tips on how to get tighter curls and how to make your hair curlier. I hope you enjoyed this if you have any tips that definitely leave them down below, because then everyone else can see them and you can help everyone else out. If you want to check out the rest of this series, I will put the playlist link down below, as well as on the info cards. That way, you can see the rest of the videos and hopefully they help you out if you have not already subscribed. I would love to have you join my YouTube family, I usually post weekly, so I hope to see you back next week. I'Ll talk to my next video 5:1

Gena Marie: What are your tips for more defined curls? Let me know! All product links are on my blog with a summary of the tips: https://www.getglammedup.co/2019/07/how-to-get-curlier-hair-naturally-10.html

Zandra: I just want to be able to wear my curly hair down without it looking like a mess

Aziza Saadi: The curly hair journey is a serious struggle

Luca Bonzani: My hair has 3 forms : super coily, wawy and Hagrid

Shaye Eller: I was SHOOK the first time I used a Denman brush. It basically took my 2C hair and made it 3B.

helena stevic: my curls are great first day after washing but then after sleep its awful

D1 Princess Nini: My curly hair is bi polar, it just does it’s own thing.

i wish i was peppa pig: -trim/cut !!!!-oleplex no 3(repairs hair bonds, revives curls) -change curls by twisting (and scrunching) while using a deep conditioner (twist individual sections -remove build up-clarify hair once a month(acv) -look for aloe vera and protein and flax in ingredients help to define curls -plop hair on top of head in towel

Riana Sharma: I’m swear I’m so close to just shaving the whole thing off and buying a wig lol

lorena: Am I the only one that have curls and when i go to sleep , next day i have kinda straight hair? I’m about to cry

Falling Awake: I’ve been growing my hair for over a year now. So addicted to “dusting” my own hair that this entire video all I wanted to do was take scissors to that little piece of straight curl to our left (your right) Perfect video! Denman brush is magic. I’m not a fan of using ACV anymore and tired of trying new products so often. Instead of deep conditioning I’ll soak my hair in real aloe Vera gel and leave in heat cap for at least 30min before shampooing with curlsmith moisturizing shampoo and letting hair air dry with a leave in conditioner.

Elena's Art Guide: I needed this video!! I hate when i go sleep and my curls get flattened so these tips will really help!

Jack Graham: My hair always looks the best before I go to sleep when I DONT need it

Nikki Sell: I love your tips! I’m transitioning and have the same curl pattern as you. Your videos have helped me soooo much!! ❤️❤️ thank you!!

Cute Parrot: The curls at the front of my head are curlier than the ones at the back of it. It's weird

LightSkinned DeVonte: i’m a mixed boy. and i’ve been using your tips for a week! Thank you! My curls look wayyyy better.

HereIAm247: Sleep tip: instead of putting hair up, just flip/lay it over the pillow (silk pillowcase of course!), that way you don't lay on it, but hairties won't destroy the curls, like the pineapple does for me. (I will mention, I am a 2c/3a, with fine hair, so my curls are easily messed up). Edit: works best for still sleepers! XD

Jordanranthroughit: Thank you for the tips! I will definitely start incorporating these into my hair routine. Also, you look absolutely beautiful without make up too...a very classic kind of beauty.

Rosa Ornelas: Gena! I love all of your tips. I started wearing my hair naturally curly because of you. I always try new products that you recommend & everyone at work always compliments my curls. Keep those tips & recommendations coming!!

long yarn: I've had really good success with three different curl enhancers: DIY flaxseed gel, Jessicurl Rockin' Ringlets (glycerin free), and Uncle Funky's Daughter's Curl Magic (has aloe vera). They really bring out and tighten my curls. Although I do need a bit of style/hold gel with Rockin' Ringlets and the Curl Magic for the best results.

Curly Yasmin: My hair has no idea what it’s doing right now

U GotArbysVag: Psa to all you natural curl people, you’re very blessed and your hair is amazing. My mom and sister have curly hair but I unfortunately got my dads straight hair, so I’m doomed to perm my hair until I later go bald in life Edit: I perm cause straight hair is ugly and impossible to handle imo

Kimmy Madera: 5:37, from my experience you don’t have to scrunch your curls like that. You can lift them without the ending squeeze and achieve an even better result. Just my thoughts. Curly girl love

Miss Joy's Art Room: I’d love to see a tutorial on THIS makeup look! Your eyeliner is to die for.

Melike Sönmez: You are the most effective channel I have stumbled upon on curly hair tips! When I was younger my hair had nice and tight ringlets it was the cutest thing ever. I really miss those times I had nice curls cuz it's been really long time since I really appreciated my hair. For the first time ever in years I feel like it is possible to revive them back again. The other youtube channels over there always made it look so difficult I don't know why. Only two days into your channel and I already started to understand proper curly hair maintenance! Thank you

C VH: On a side note: girlllll your face without makeup is soooo beautiful!!

Nancy Comeau: Thanks for these great tips! For me, a good haircut for curly hair helps my curls a lot. So many hairdressers don’t know how to properly cut curly hair. My hair is wavy with big curls.

XoLuciaXo_: Curly hair is so high maintenance omg All my life I've had straight hair so I didn't really do much with my hair, but then I got cancer 3 years ago and now my hair came back curly. I'm especially lost on what type of products to buy, like which shampoo, conditioner and what to put in your hair after your shower. It's all so confusing Never knew having curly hair was THAT much of a hassle. My hair still looks awful

Dawn Taylor: It's almost easier for me to go back to straightening my hair!!

Irai Rod: These tips were great, thank you.  I have 2b hair that I'd love to make a bit tighter...I've been using the Denman brush and finger coiling the sections that hang looser, so I'll try the double twisting you showed to see if I can train those to be more spring-like.  I'm also tempted to try the Olaplex--but I have virgin hair (no chemical processes, no coloring) and no heat damage, so there's nothing much to "restore"...I'm afraid Olaplex would be too much!  What do you think?

Kathy: I always go to your channel for tips with naturally curly hair! This video was super informative and I'm really excited to try out this method-and definitely going to be getting that brush!! tysm

Yani Barrios: Hi ive had really curly hair when i was little and it gradually turned into beautiful soft waves as a grew older, but every since i cut them short a year ago the curls never grew back. Do you have any suggestions on how to regrow them? Thanks ❣️

nursefrye: I wanna have curly hair that lays nice without so much frizz! My hair is BIG it goes out to the side so I will wear it down seldom. I finally got myself a denman brush today Thx for sharing how to use the brush!

Sophia AR: Thank you for the tips, my hair is healthy and soft, but lately it gets less curly and is less defined than before. I didn't change the products or my routine so I don't understand why it doesn't look as good anymore. I hope that your tips will help

Helaina Weissman: I'm naturally a curly haired girl, but in the past I've done a lot of dying and chemically straightening so I need to restore my hair. My hair pretty much curls at the top, but they're more straight/damaged at the bottom. Any suggestions? I also have really weak/fine hair.

kit: my hair used to be curly locks but now ive damaged it by straightening it all the time. this video might actually help! i'll keep you all updated on day 20

Chaeyoungs Strawberry Farm: I had curls when I was younger but we didn’t know how to manage it and it was straightened every time I was at a dance tournament (which was multiple times a week and it’s still like that and this is for 8 years) so I’m trying to get my curly hair back because when I look back at you pictures of me I wish I had that hair. I’m not straightening my hair anymore but I still need to get the curls back

Heavenly Hunter: To anyone wanting a cheaper alternative to Olaplex no. 3, from a beauty advisor at Sally’s, I’d recommend Ubërliss or the Sauce guacamole mask

Chelbasaur: I had a Denman brush in high school. Back in the days where I straightened my hair every single day. I lost the brush years ago and when I started really looking into how to enhance my 2c hair, I saw that brush mentioned and kicked myself for not keeping that brush. I've already ordered a new one because seeing several ladies' results with it really showed me how much of a difference it really makes. I also use a wooden bristle brush because I've heard that the wood absorbs your natural oils from your scalp and spreads them throughout your hair way more easily. Granted, I only get that chance once a week, but still!

Araleigh Rane: I was born with a super cute spiral curls but when i became a teen I started to brush it even when dry and used flat iron until i decided to wear it curly but it's not the same anymore its so frizzy and the curls are not that defined so hope this works!

Tara Calzada: Ok so I have straight hair at the top and Curley hair at the bottom and wavy hair in the middle I need helppppp

Eliifff O: When I get out of the shower the inside of my hair is curly and the outside is just puffy and wavy

Stormy Day: Re: Olaplex 3, use it with Olaplex 0. Very important. Also if you like those get Olaplex 1 and 2. You can find it on eBay. You will LOVE it so much more, it’s life-changing. Olaplex 3 is nice but it cannot compare to Olaplex 1 and 2. They’re expensive but for you, an 8 ounce bottle of each will last you about 3 years depending how often you use it.

Laura Anderson: Olaplex relaxes my curl pattern for the first few washes. I’ve switched to Curlsmith bond repair. My hair looks great after I use it.

Felicia L: My hair is coily (tight, tiny spirals). And the longer I grow it out, the tighter the coils. And the more my hair shrinks. I would like to know what products to use to make my hair shrink less - without frizz or damage or relaxers. Low pH products and moisturizing shampoos and conditioners seem to make my hair curlier. So, will protein fillers and higher pH shampoos and conditioners make it easier to make my hair look less curly?

lilchrist: Half Apple cider vinegar (organic with mother) and half water really helps to clarify my hair without drying it out

HOC OC: Thanks for a really good video with all explanations

Alicesings1: Your amazing ! I also find that products w/hydrolyzed wheat protein increased my curls. The info about the brush is new to me After straightening my hair and then wanting my natural curly hair back, I learned about the curly girl method. Your advice is very helpful info. I can’t wait to get started. You have a new follower. Also I’m noticing it’s not taking as long now for my hair to get curlier faster and stay curled longer.

Kris Hysler: I sometimes plop my hair into pantyhose (on top of my head) and then I can diffuse while standing upright. It is a back saver!

Ivy Pereyda: i straightened my hair everyday for 1 year and now im giving my hair a break, though i kinda lost my pattern and its wavy, but i am willing to get it back and wear my natural curly hair.

Maria Mullings: Kind of new to this and just discovered you and your videos, so I hope you respond. What other times can you twist your hair to train it other than after olaplex treatments? Deep conditioning? After products are in? Help please!

vievie: my hair is not as curly as yours but I do have slight curls depending on how I dry my hair, and I always brush them out because I like the frizzy look but I seem to be the only one who likes it

thenewpyt: When I was born I had tight, red ringlets. As I grew up it was a wavy blonde. It got curlier when I was 11-12 and became very very long and curly / wavy. I loved it. I chopped it. I hated how short it was. I started hating the curls. I started heat damaging it ON PURPOSE. I repeat ON PURPOSE. I would do a rinse of steaming hot water on my hair in the shower for about a minute and straightening it everyday without heat protectant. Now I have medium length and horribly damaged hair. I don’t have an curl definition any more.

daisrina: My hair is straight at the root wavy in the middle and curly at the bottom but always frizzyI have to do a shower refresh for it to look presentable

Linda Mattson: Great tips! I’m certainly going to give them a try! Thanks!

Valentina Licci: 2.30 totally agree about olaplex 3. This single product saved my curly hair. Best of all.

Linda Mattson: These are the best tips ever! I can’t wait to try them out!

Himiko Toga: My hair : tiny wave My goal : curly or wavy

Kaylin Louw: Not all of my hair has the same curl pattern. Like the hair close to my roots will have much tighter curls than the hair at my roots. My hair is also really long though. Any tips to get the same curl pattern throughout my hair ?

xoBeach Loverxo: I saw this on recommended. have slightly wavy hair and always want curly hair. Thought why not try. I wet my hair, scrunched some moose into it (cause I don't have gel) and then diffused it. Now I have 2C curls! (don't know how long they will last but)

Meghan Nuñez: I love these tips, thank you so much!

Zoie Serumgard: This was beyond helpful!

nova: ‘’Especially when you’re transitioning you might notice that you have lots of different curl patterns going on if your hair is damaged it might look limp’’ my hair being limp, damaged, and having 4 different curl patterns:

Emily Booth: I honestly do most of these, but I just ruined my curly hair (I didn’t know anything different back then) for years and now it’s just a wave. It used to use like I used a curling wand :( I’ve been following the cgm for about a year now and there is a slight difference

Sofiya B.: I scrunch in gel, let it air dry then scrunch out the gel and my hair look so nice but the moment I go out all the waves and curls fall flat and there's frizz

Alex Pond: Wow, you look so much younger without makeup. Can you also do a video on your skin routine?

Chillin with Tofu: When I treat my hair like it’s straight it goes curly and if I try doing the curly girl method it goes straight

Britt Lyn: GIRL... your hair before olaplex looks like mine now. i’m getting this stuff

I love Angelique: Does twisting your hair really help? That’s awesome! I need to try these, my hair has been more wavy than curly lately

HairListing: Ohhhhh the trouble we go through to make our hair beautiful.

BaNaNa BoAt: The hardest part is starting, I’ve done this for 1 day only and I already have different waves and a few curls in my hair

Jennifer Dyan: Gena! Any tips for my curls. My right side is ringlets, the left side is still curly but my sides don’t match. Been CG method for 10 months but naturally curly for life! Only colored or straightened my hair maybe 2-3 a year just wasn’t using the best products for my hair! Any tips would be amazing! Love from Arkansas!

Meghan Nuñez: Hello! So I have a question. I got a trim about a month and a 1/2 ago and I just got one today. I always had wavy/straight hair when I was a kid. I'm almost 15 and I started to curly girl method when I was 13 1/2. When I trimmed my hair last month, I thought that I was gonna get tighter curls but apparently my hair got looser and that usually never happens to me. at first I had 3a/3b curls before I trimmed it, then after I trimmed 2 inches off my hair and styled it, I got like 2b/2c waves and maybe some 3a curls but only like 2, and I even used the Denman brush and I still didn't get tighter curls. I trimmed an inch off my hair today and it got only a little bit looser but not as much as when I trimmed it and styled it the first time, and I didn't even used the Denman brush this time. What do u think I did wrong?

Briana Table: All good stuff. Only thing is cold water does not seal the cuticle. You’re better off with hot water. It’s all about ph. Use distilled water or apple cider vinegar. Staying around that ph will seal that cuticle!! And yes Ik it sounds crazy but water at different temps or stages has a different ph.

ilovemommymilkers69: Am i the only one who had curly hair when i was way younger like 2-3 and got wavy-curly-straight hair?

Mayar Alsaeed: I’ve tried almost all of ur tips but I don’t have the denman brush anyways when I style my hair in the diffuser it becomes stiff and still on the blop shape even though i shake it and try to separate big curls it stays the same shape and I’ve seen a lot of curly haired people who can play with their hair without it getting frizzy but my hair doesn’t and I also tried the acv build up cleaning

Julia Gabriela: I’m trying to get my 3A curls back bc over the years my hair turned into 2B curls

AshMo Do: Soooo yeah depending on the products you are using, technically it’s better to do a clarifying shampoo before going in with the olaplex. The results are much better if the hair is cleansed first and shampooed out again after the treatment.

doux audio’sひ: Go makeup free! No matter what!! You look so many times younger and cleaner. You literally look GORGEOUS. That's what people be wanting to look likeeee omg dont ruin it with makeuppp.

D Smith: If u pull your hair to the opposite side and then flip it over when it dries works amazing for volume on the top!

Kayla Blanton: Question.. I have always wore my hair curly, I don't think I have straightened it in atleast 10 years. I also haven't dyed/highlighted in the last 12 years. I do have dry & frizzy hair, do you think Olaplex No.3 would work for my needs? Or would that be too much? I have 2c/3a curls, shoulder length.

Vante Gogh: Most of the comments here are related to mine. My hair is frizzy, kinda wavy kinda curly, different type of curly front and back of the head.

WinstonChaychel: I guess I'm going to have to make my own flax gel again . I just cut everything off and it's a bit in shock so I have to train these couple pieces to do the right thing. Four years into this and I still can't figure it out LMAO

iheartkiya: My hair journey: When I was an infant/toddler, my hair was really curly (like kind of tight ringlets), as I grew older, they all fell to the bottom of my hair so I had straight hair on the top and ringlets on the bottom. I was like 5 so I didn’t realize how much regret I would have if I chop it off, I did. As I grew a little older my hair grew into a healthy wave, until I cut it chin short, I loved it but it was so ugly and looked damaged for some reason. I grew it out and bleached and dyed it pink, then blue, then purple, then red, then blue AGAIN, then red and pink again (mind you I was 10) so my hair was so nasty and damaged. I was not happy, I cut it to a shorter than pixie short, I immediately regretted it. As it grew out, it became really curly and frizzy because of how short and curly it was. My hair is now a little longer than my shoulders and has loose ringlets. I’m pretty happy with my hair but I still feel like I need it curlier.

Katrina Lahr: Do you use the clarifying shampoo right after the Olaplex treatment? I'm new to this putting this kind of care into my hair and wanted to make sure that wouldn't mess up the Olaplex treatment.

Rachelle P: With a complexion like yours I would never wear makeup . Honestly shocked, you look 10 years younger without any.

Cate Hensley: hi gena, my hair has a lot of definition but it's not "good" definition. i have these abnormal shapes and zigzags and crazy whirls! how do i make my curls look more like 'curls?' (i'm a 2c/3a)

Lily_of_the_Forest: Epsom salt spray really brings out my curls even at my roots. This only works if your hair gets curlier when you go to the beach. I guess it’s the same chemical reaction? 1/2 teaspoon epsom salt dissolved in 1 cup hot distilled water, (can add 10 drops of lavender essential oil for a lovely scent), spray generously, scrunch well, let dry (it dries stiff. Don’t panic!), scrunch well again until the stiffness is softened. Epsom salt can be drying so deep condition weekly. Strangers have complimented my hair. Such a confidence boost after years of feeling ugly. I can’t use gels, creams, etc. My skin breaks out everywhere (face, neck, ears!) my product-laden hair touches it so the only thing I can use is epsom salt spray. I also use aloe vera spray since it doesn’t cause breakouts and has very light hold. The Denman brush did not enhance my curl pattern unfortunately. My hair is too thin/fine.

Maria Ann: The bottom of my hair is very curly… the middle is loose curls and the top is frizzy- the struggle

Paige Goodson: I just found this, Most youtubers just say the same thing over and over. I have like 3a curls on the ends only, and straight on the top. Thank yoou. I'm gonna try this

Bhawna Saroha: Curly girl problems: Sometimes when I wash my hair, I get asked that why did I cut my hair again. And then I've to explain that I haven't cut them, they just got shrinked

1016-Nour Munir munir: Guys all my life I didnt know what's was wrong with my hair it was like wavy and had some but super super puffy alot of people told me I have curls but they are damaged or undefined so I gonna try these amd hope they'll work!

Gabriela Reyes: Your hair looks good! I wanna do all this, but the video was overwhelming with out cutting it into steps. The amount of products were also overwhelming. Just a friendly tip.

Jazmine Aaliyah: My hair kinda reminds me of the before picture of you. I constantly brushed it out so much because I hated knots and it’s getting better now but in the middle of some of my hair strands the hair is straight with curly ends and tops or like random sections of straight bits. Also can I use a normal brist because I don’t have a Denman

xKes: And have you ever used coco & Eve deep conditioner? :) I’m learning to take care of my curls & I have the same hair type as you so need all the help I can get :/ x

Heidi Casey: Olaplex now has leave in products that should be available at sephora as well

Chesnie Stuart: I had super straight, flat hair when I was little. Now my hair has ringlets and is all over the place. I am trying to embrace my natural hair but it’s just so weird right now...

GEORGE ARMENIS: alsp another thing: dont touch ur hair when diffusing/air drying cuz it creats frizz

Cyndee Horn: Gena, do you have an easy overnight soft hair curler to keep curls in?

Ines G: How long do you usually leave the olaplex on?
