Tape In Extensions For Short Hair?

My advice on using tape in extensions on short hair, based from my own failed attempt

Hi YouTube today I want to do a quick. I guess it's sort of a warning. It'S pretty well known among people that know me that I make a lot of dumb decisions. Regarding my hair, I like to cut it all off and dye it and do crazy things with it, and it's it's taken quite a toll on my hair and a few months ago, well, probably closer to a year ago. Now I cut it all off. I had really long I'd grown out for ages and I got bored of it, so I cut it all off. I shaved everything and I regretted it afterwards, but what can he do so I let it go out as long as I could, and in October I attempted to fit in some taping extensions, because obviously the growing out phase is off or it takes forever and I Got quite thick hair, so just bushes out everywhere it's pretty bad, so I tried to do a quick fix and I found online a bunch of taping extensions, Remi, 100 % human hair, very good quality. I mean you can't fault the extensions themselves. There are brilliant, but I just wanted to do a quick warning to anyone out there who is in the same position as me not to make the same mistake. I did. It says on the website that if you're doing a forehead, you need about 100 grams for just two packs and it says if you've got thick hair then go for 150. I bought 2 packs. I should have 150 grams, but I only bought 100 because budget, and it was a big big mistake. I should have bought way more than I did realistically even 150, wouldn't have been close to half fitting them in was really really easy. You literally just get a small piece of hair. Take the tape off of one of the pieces. Stick it on the bottom, take the tape off of another and stick it on the top, and you just press them down gently and it just sandwiches. The hair in between it, it's really easy to do, and they stay in. Oh, my god do they say in so that the extensions themselves are great if you've got the money to get enough now. This is a picture of the link that my hair was that when I try to use these extensions - and I was trying to add a lot of length to it - to obviously avoid the growing out phase but yeah like I said I didn't have nearly enough and You could see where my natural hair was coming out underneath there and it didn't blend well at all. Realistically, I would have been a lot better off going to a professional, but I'm kind of stubborn, and I like doing these things myself. I don't really like having other people touch my hair, because I've had people completely it up in the past, so I'm a little bit iffy with whom I trust touching my hair. So I like to do it myself. I'Ve been cutting my own hair for about four years now, and obviously I do all of the dyeing one was the bleaching all of that myself and that's all gone really well. You know I mean okay, I've made a few fuck-ups, but I trust myself to be able to do these things. So I've got a little bit overconfident and I thought yeah I'll just buy these extensions and I'll put them in and, like. I said the application processes itself is very easy, but I should have had probably double the amount of why I actually did it didn't blend well at all. I don't have any pictures to show you, unfortunately, but just take my word for it. It looked awful if you're gon na do it, it is doable and I won't say, don't do it, but what I would say is if you're doing it yourself by way more than you think you need because trust me when I say you will need it and If you're not 100 % certain go and get it done professionally, it's gon na cost. You a ton but to be honest, the extensions they ain't cheap anyway. So if you are going down that road play it safe, don't try and skimp and only buy a hundred grams, even though it says it's fine, it's not fine. If you've got long hair all ready to eat, then it's not so much of an issue because you can blend it better. But if your hair is short like mine, it's gon na take a lot of work. I mean it's been a few months since I tried that and already all my hair has grown a fair bit from where it was so I'm not too fussed that mine didn't work out, but the trouble is where I hated it. I had to try and remove them, and I didn't have the acetone stuff to take it out to break down the bond. So I literally, I was using hair straighteners to heat up the glue and then try and peel it back out which worked by it left. A lot of glue still on my hair, so I ended up having to actually cut small chunks of hair out, and luckily my hair is so thick that you genuinely can't tell honestly way I can do with thinning out if you've got a thin hair. I would avoid doing that because you will notice that there's patches of hair missing, if you want to go for that dramatic change by all means, do it just make sure you've stocked up on. I would recommend mmm of 200 grams, which will probably set you back about 80 quid, but it would be worth it and it they are really good quality extensions. The tape I mean I was tugging that and it wasn't coming out, so you don't really have to worry about you know. Is it gon na fall out and know that does not come out so, if you're considering doing it, just make sure that you've got everything you need beforehand, and I would advise having someone there with you as well, because it would just make it easier to hold Some of the hair out of the way you don't want bits from different rows getting caught in it and help you get the placement right, because if you've got it done right and then obviously you'll probably need to like cut some a bit to put layers in It to you know, blend it a little bit better, but if you can do that, then definitely do it because, like I said there they're easy to put in, they don't come out and they are really good. That was just my warning because I fall about it and I thought well. I made that kind of up and I looked on YouTube beforehand to see other people doing it and it looked so easy and I was like oh well, they can do it. I'M sure I can do it and no one ever mentions how much need - and I hadn't seen anyone having a story of it going wrong. So far, sharing my experience on it because I'm so good at doing things wrong, and I thought at least if someone else can get some advice from my mistake. Then there's a positive from it, so yeah. Anyone who is looking for a taping extensions for a grown-up pixie or you know very, very short, hair. That is my advice to you. Good luck!

Chloe Leaver: Thank god for this video.. I chopped all my hair off on august and it’s at the stage yours was at in the pictures. I’ve been wondering how much hair I needed and I’ve now got a consultation with a proper extension salon to help me. It’s going to be expensive but hay!

Kinga: Nice warning. I'm sure many people are able to do tape ins at home by themselves, but it's good to be aware of the difficulties :)

Lea Seberg Fladstad: How long can tape extensions be on hair, can it be used again several times on hair, will it hold on the hair without falling off, does it feels like our own hair when we wear it, would the attachment still be invisible on short and thin hair and can it make hair worn?

Corrin Jessen: Just use coconut or caster oil to remove the tape.. works for a lot of people.

Ashley habel: Nice look! I love the Dutch braid!

Max Åkerstedt: How long do they stay in your hair?

Kelly Denton: Totally agree get more then you need is very good advice. I'm exactly the same I do my own hair shave it too, but now growing it had a pixie could to help get rid of the dead hair now it's growing very slowly but it's getting there, I'm also buying tape ins had them before and are better then sew in clip in glue ins.good advice.

Kiri Rodway: I had short hair like yours I bought 220g because I took a guess to buy more, also conditioner would’ve worked to take them out. sounded like you panicked and went with what ever you thought of first

Priscila Xylan: How can I get a hold of you? I have questions about how many tape ins I get my hair is the length yours was when you first put the in

Kelly Denton: Thanks x

Louise Hubball: Thankyou for this video my hair is shirt how your was. Was wondering what haor extensions did u use plz. I'm worried

Amanda Nettles: Where did you buy your from?

Josey Pollack: There’s different ways to put them in and faster and easier where those 2 packs would of done it. You did the sandwich way where you need a lot more then what’s necessary.

Katherine C: You talk too much
