Make sure you're watching in full 1080p HD!

Hello ladies! I wanted to make this video for you all to show you how I clip in my hair extensions when my hair is very short to medium length. A little side note, I do it differently when my hair is a bit longer (about chest length). My girlfriends always have asked me how long their hair needs to be for them to wear clip-ins, and although it is easier when your hair is longer, it's not impossible! Practice makes perfect! I hope this video helps you! Have a wonderful week loves!

Hey guys, if you're new, my name is Megan, it's good to have you so today I wanted to show you guys how I clip in my hair extensions on short hair. I have been wearing hair extensions for over 10 years now and I have had my hair all different lengths and learned many different ways and tricks to wear them, especially when my hair is short. It can be a bit trickier so um. I learned this way a couple years ago when my hair was about chin length and it was like a blunt cut Bob and I still wore hair extensions. So I wanted to share with you guys how I did that and the tricks that I used. So if you would like to go from this to this, please keep watching so the hair extensions I'm going to be using for this tutorial are my favourites, they're, my luxury for princess hair extensions, and this is the 220 gram 22 inch set just to show you Can still wear really long extensions with short hair, so these are fantastic, very, very thick. If you want to see a more in depth review on them, I will link that video down below in the down bar and, if you're, watching from a computer, I'll just put it on the screen too. So you can just click on it all right guys. Let'S get started okay, so when you're wearing hair extensions and you have shorter hair, the number one dead giveaway is, if you have little pieces from underneath of your hair sticking out right around here, so I have a trick to get rid of those. So what I do is I take a section and I leave about two finger - lengths height above the bottom of your hair line and make a part clip this hair up and I'm going to flip around and zoom in and show you what I'm going to do. Next, okay, so you take this bottom piece and you're just going to sort of twist it over to the side and keep twisting it in the same direction and then you're going to flip it back on itself, still twisting in the same direction and then do it. One more time you don't want to go wider than your hairline and you're going to take two bobby pins and secure this. I just cross the bobby pins over. Don'T worry about ever being able to see this because you will not be able to so now. I'M going to take a two clip whap I brush through it make sure it's snarl free and then I clip that right into that hairline. We have your first row of hair now if your hair is really short you're going to want to do that again. So I go one finger length above that, so I take this next layer, separate it from your hair, extensions and just repeat the process now just grab a three clip left and clip that right in so that is it for your first two rows of hairs so See now, when you start putting more extensions in the top you're not going to have those pieces falling down and if you part your hair in the back when all the rest of your hair is in you're not going to see those bobby pins. So it doesn't matter what that area looks like because it does look a little bit weird if you really get in there. But if you have really short hair - and you really want to wear extensions - that's the number one thing that you can do to really make them. Look a lot more natural so from here, because these extensions are so thick. I'M just going to put a little bit of wave in them with my curling wand before I add any more rows. Okay. So now I do one more row very, very close to these first two rows: I'm just about a finger width apart, I'm still not even to the top of my ears yet and separate that clip the top up, and now I'm grabbing a forklift left rushing through It slightly just to make sure there are no snarls, I'm just clipping that right into the park. Okay, so now I can start spacing the rows a little bit more. One thing that I will say that I generally do the shorter. My hair is the more I need to concentrate my extensions at the bottom and at the very top. So when your hair is a lot longer, you don't really need to worry about this. So now I'm going to go to the top of my ear. All the way back around clip this up and clipping in another four clip weft, and with these extensions I don't need to worry about teasing Repat the clips, because these clips are amazing. You guys have never used clips that work, this well, okay. So now that I have two rows in I'm going to curl these two rows of extensions and my natural hair together, and the reason why I do this on the bottom is because it really helps blend in my natural hair, which actually doesn't need a lot of Help right now, because I did tie up those first two rows of short hair, so those rows are curled together and now. My next row is going to be about eyebrow height, I'm going to go all the way around my head for this row. I have a three clip and a two clip weft, and sometimes I will sew the weft together and just use it as one big piece, but I haven't done that yet so I'm just going to put both of these on this row together. Just so, it stretches all the way around my head, and I want to start it about right here right behind my ear. I don't want to go too close to my hairline, not because there's a chance that you could see the weft, but because I do want it to look a little bit like. I have a layered haircut, nice, some shorter layers in the front, and if you clip your wife's too close, it's not gon na. Look like it's blending. Like you have a layer, it's gon na look like you got a really bad haircut and they just clipped like one piece. Do you know what I'm saying you know what I'm saying? Okay, so I'm just going to let the last bit down I'm going to run a brush through this, just because my hair gets snarled so easy on the top and for me personally, because I have um two calyx right here: isn't kollek's or calyx! No colic is what babies get right when they like cry whatever anyways my bangs, depending on the day, do whatever the hell they want. They don't listen to me, so I have to figure out which way my bangs are going, which they seem to be doing. This more easily today, so that's how I decide where my part is going to be. I don't my hair does for me so from here. You can see that it's pretty well blended without any more extensions, but I do have four of the single clip laughs and some people don't like these. They don't use them. You could skip this part if you want to, but I like to put them in just because it really does help blending the top layers. I like using the single clips more than a larger weft, because it will sort of blend in you're, shorter, hair with the longer hair, instead of there being a harsh line where your top layer falls right on top of a large weft. So I like to space these out along the top layers of my hair and since my part is on this side - and I don't have a lot of space between my part and this top left, I'm going to kind of put one in the back about an Inch down from my part so see my parts up here and it's about an inch down just going to clip that up. I'M just going to put one of these single clip laughs right there, then I'm going to use the other three for the side. Alright, so going, I start this next part about right above where the arch of my eyebrow is so. I part that back and I'm going to put a single clip right at the back of my head. There now parting just a little bit more about a centimeter. I'M going to use the last two wefts. This one is going to go towards the back still, but a little bit more forward. The last clip was back here this one's about right here and now I'm gon na part about right in the center, and I'm going to clip this last one about right in the middle of my head. Like I said before, I don't like to clip any hair. Very close to my hairline, especially when your hair is short um, so I usually on the top. I don't clip any farther forward then about halfway down my head and on the sides of my head. I don't clip any farther forward than above my ears, so in this little areas like that's like a no-fly zone, note I'm saying so now, I'm going to take my curling wand and just take the larger top sections and blend in my natural hair, with the extensions By curling them together and I'm just going to zoom through this another thing I wanted to point out a little trick is: I will wrap my hair just up until the level of my natural hair. So I'm grabbing on to the tips of my natural hair here and hold this for about 5 seconds longer before I wrap around the rest of the extensions. The reason being is that I want sort of like an even wave and the top of your hair is going to be a lot thicker, because you have that extra layer of short hair. So I hold that by itself on the curling wand for a few extra seconds before I rock wrap ends. I like to take a wide tooth comb just sort of brush through my curls. This one is by macadamia natural oil and it claims to have like infused macadamia oil in it. So like reduces frizz and all that stuff, I don't know it just seems gimmicky to me. I feel like it just it's a normal comb, but whatever you say guys, alright guys, so this is it, and this is an amazing result for having such short hair. Now mine is, like I said about medium length, so um. It is a tiny bit easier, but I've been doing this since my hair was chin length like I said before, so it is possible. You can do this, it's really really easy um. All I recommend is that you get a pair of hair extensions um that has a lot of grams like these. These are the best that I've used. If you want to know more about them, just watch my video I'll link it below, like I said before, I'm doing the full review. So I love these. These are amazing, and this works the best for me when clipping them in, and I really want them to look like natural long hair. So thank you guys so much for watching. I really hope that you enjoyed it and I hope you can pick a couple tips and things that you can use to clip in your extensions and hopefully now you'll be scared to buy them. If you thought your hair was too short. So thank you. So much again leave me a comment below letting me know what you think and if you found it helpful and if you want to request something leave it down below whatever I always respond, and I love hearing from you guys, you guys are the best so make Sure to follow me on Instagram, keek, twitter and i do have a new blog like i've told you guys and i linked all that stuff down below as well. So thank you guys very much and I will see you next time.

Carly Humbert: Very helpful thank you <3

Charlotte Meagan: Most perfect video! My hair is as short as yours and I have 26" extensions and this one just makes everything easier. Thank you so much.

Amy Nayeli: I've been watching so many hair extension videos and I finally found what I was looking for! I needed a way to hide the bottom hair that wouldn't blend. Thank you so much!

Keera Lee Pankhurst: Love this. Has helped me heaps with my new extensions and my short hair. Champion effort ❤️

Anna Lisa: You did an amazing job! My hair is slightly longer and I still learned great tricks! Thanks.

LuxuryForPrincess: The tutorial is amazing! Love it. You're perfect Megan :)

kayekog: It was amazing! You did a great job of explaining to someone who had absolutely no idea how to do this - me. My longtime hair dresser chopped off my hair so much and I'm going job hunting in a couple of months, so you've given me some hope that I can look like myself then. I need much shorter hair but yours looked beautiful. Thank you so much.

Jennifer Comas: A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I just received my hair extensions and I was feeling down because when I tried them, the short hairs were so obvious. Thank you so much.

Irma Andrade: This is a great tutorial. It is super helpful especially for those of us with short hair. I will be trying this method very soon

CC B: Best tutorial on clipping in hair extensions I have seen. This was SO helpful! Keep up the great work! :)

paula wilson: Thank you you look amazing never knew to twist the bottom rows tried it tonight and they look so natural! I have been wearing clip in for 8 yrs and never knew that Feel so much more confident xxxx

Tonya Dawn: Omg I really needed this!! You natural hair is almost identical to mine and I am finding extensions challenging so can’t wait to try this now!!! ❤️

Chelsea Pearl: This was amazing! I've never seen this technique done before. My hair is super fine and extensions alway slip out, so I might try the technique over teasing!

Morgan Berk: BLESS YOU!!! I have 20" with medium length natural hair and I could never figure out how to blend the bottom cuz it looked horrible....absolutely amazing best hair tutorial I have ever seen, thank u!! :) :)

Lisa W: This is the best video for extensions with short hair I've seen so far.  This looks like your natural hair.

Chanel Elizabeth: I can not thank you enough for this video! I have recently purchased 260 grams of 20 inch hair (Bellami Hair). I've had hair your length for years now and have always worn extensions, but I absolutely love the trick about pinning the bottom hairs up - that was and always has been my concern. Thank you!!!!!

Lucia O.L: Thank you for making this video!!I've had my extensions but could never figure out with the short hairs!my hair is just a little shorter than yours.,but now I know what to try..THANK YOU again lol sooo helpful..I'm soo glad I found your channel I've been watching your videos for a little over a week and I can't wait to see more videos!

Kim Mayton: Thank you so much it was a great tutorial! I learned about clipping my hair in the back with bobby pins I had not been doing that I think it's going to work great

karla love: You literally changed my mood , I was getting ready for a party and this helped so much !!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Lizzie McMaster: Definately the most informative and helpful video on extensions for shorter hair thanks :)

Stephanie Mitchell - Toronto Real Estate: thank you so much! I bought hair extensions, and I have about the same length of hair as you do and I'm so happy to have learned to hide the underneath hairs!! so thank you thank you! xxx

kealabeam: You are awesome, it's impressive how skillfully you do all that! I've been trying lots of different kinds of extensions lately, my hair is about as long as yours, I wish it was that thick though! Trying to find the best ways to do it so the wefts don't show takes some practice

Lisa Ingram: Thank you Megan.  Your information was very helpful.  I have very similar hair as your except mine is thin and dry so I have been wanting to wear extensions.  I purchased 2 synthetic/blend pieces that are just one piece with about 5 clips.  It has been hard to hide my short hair with this style of clips.  I have also found it very hard to maintain a smooth, tangle free style while wearing them.  I'm ready to purchase human hair extensions but I have a hard time spending money on myself.  After seeing how you put your extensions in I feel better about making that purchase.

Natasha Medina: Thank you so much for posted this informational video... Can't wait to practice on my hair later today.

Heather Rice: This is the best, most detailed hair extension video I've ever seen on YT! Very informative! Thank you!

Kathy Kinsey: Yay! I use the same method for my extensions, only I braid the hair instead of twisting. I strangely enough haven't seen anyone else do this, but it's so great and easy!

Lioness: Thank you for taking the time to go into detail! More information the better :) (new subscriber!)

Bakersfield power softball: Best video I've seen so far... you blended it perfectly!!

JM Beauty : awesome! I'm very new to extensions and was getting frustrated with blending. I'm definitely going to try your method. I'm finding out its more of a learning curve than I had expected.

Lauren Rebekah: Really helpful, totally seamless xoxo

Serena Suzanne: I watched over 45 videos today and your is THE BEST by far!!!  Well done and thank you so much!

PinkPsychoBunny: I'm using clips from Rapunzel of Sweden and I think it worked out pretty well. I have a little longer hair than you do so it didn't really blend perfect (maybe because my extensions are purple and blue and the purple in my natural hair has started to fade) but I braided it and it really looked like it was my real hair. Thanks!

Amanda M: I gave up on extensions quite a few times because of those stray hairs, I tried everything I could think of and tips online to get rid of the issue but they never really worked. Excited to try this <3 thank you

RJ LOKAY: thank you so much! this has totally helped me with the little bit of nape hair that normally bugs me lol can you do a tutorial of the makeup look youre wearing hear?? i love the subtle cut crease!

Paulina Alicja Pelka Traut: Thanks for your tutorial! It's great!

His Warrior Bride: Will you do a tutorial on how you do your nails? I LOVE the shape and length. Also, NO ONE has ever shown installation this way. I can't wait to try it! I sent you a FB message, because I wasn't able to post here last night. I need help hiding the top extensions under my fine, blonde hair. No matter what I try, teasing, etc, unless they are really low, they show. I subbed you and cant wait for more hairdo tuts!!

MirandaJeanMakeup: Very helpful! I just got my Luxury for Princess 220 gram set and have had trouble with my bottom hairs..I will definitely be trying this trick! Thank you! :)

MionTheLion: wow I have been waiting for years for someone to show me this!  Thank you Megan :)  That's the one thing I always look for in hair, is that tell tale sign they're wearing extensions with the underneath short pieces.  It just looks bad but when I get my tape in's taken out, I will be going back to clip-in's and using this method!!!

Megan Hartman: twisting your hair, crossing it over, and then pinning it up with bobby pins is literally the most genius thing i have EVER heard!! i just got my first set of extensions in the mail yesterday and have been searching high and low for a video about how to blend seamlessly. thank you sooo much!!!

nursenona80: Best tips ever!!! Can't wait to do this. Thanks

Stephanie Marrero: Just subbed.. love your tutorials so far and love that you are not afraid to strut your tats ♡

Kimberly D: Wow great video! So helpful. You gave really great tips and tricks! Thanks so much. Hugs from Texas.

Renee Duckworth: I know this is an old video, but I've been wearing extensions for 2 years and got longer ones as my hair has grown. went to get it "trimmed" today and she of course added short layers up top without letting me know lol I almost had those damn layers grown out. ugh. anyways, this is fabulous and I will be using your advice bc I freaked when I tried to do my normal routine and they weren't blending. the top layers that show and sides are the hardest. I've been braiding the underneath for two years and it makes a world of difference and also curling the extensions helps blend. thank you for this video bc even though I'm great at putting these in, I had a panic attack when I saw my top layers were once again short after I got home and hard to blend. my hair is shoulder length now.

MinnieMoon: Your genius!! I just cut all of my hair off recently..and my hairs exactly like urs. Medium length and not really thick. The bobby pins in the back are perfect for ppl w/thinner hair. Ty

Paola Ramirez: I loved this you are very helpful!♡

Jazz: this was so helpful, thanks sooo much!

2jesusIbelong: Thanks for this video! I have chin length hair and am getting extentions as i really miss having long hair! Ill be try your tips

ShelbyKnight09: Hands down best extension video I've seen! Awesome video :)

Jay-Jay: Just like to say very easy to follow & understand more than others. thank you.x

Maria Calderon: Great blending :) best I have seen here on YouTube so far ♡

Ashley Bracero: Very helpful! I have a inch or shorter then your hair length and was think of getting LP extensions. Looks great ! Thank you xoxo new subbie.

lifeoftavia: omg i've been thinking about getting clip in extensions for ever but i never did because my biggest fear was people being able to see the layer of hair near my neck, because i see people with extensions and that layer of hair sort of curls under the neck. that twisting method was genius, thank you for sharing that, i'm definitely going to be wearing them now!!!

Jessica Michelle: I freakin love you! My hair is your length so you give me confidence to work mine even better!

Marisol Morales: OMG! This video is perfect! So glad I ran across this! And you're beautiful! :)

Megan McTaggart: Of course ill always reply if I can! I love comments :) I plan on doings many more hair tutorials with these extensions and ill make sure to show the back next time. And thank you so much for watching, I definitely know what you mean about feeling pretty after having a baby! I gained 70 lbs! Just be patient, and remember new mommies are the most beautiful of all! Even with absolutely no sleep! Lol

twhitize: Great tutorial!!! Thank you

Megan McTaggart: It is easy! I've had years of trial an error! Yes it is only one set, they are really thick (220 grams) though. I have a review on them linked in the description bar if you are in the market!

Breana McCorkle: This video is amazing!! Thanks! But would I be able to blend short layers at the top with long extensions?

Allison Guedes: This was totes amazing!! Can not wait to try myself

Sassycassie: you really have alot of great tips im so glad i found this video (:

TheLivvieLove: This so genius ! Must try this. Thank you!

Megan McTaggart: They are straightened when they arrive, but after I wash and air dry them they have a slight wave. The curls in my video are curls leftover from a couple days prior! Let me know if you have any more questions! Remember I have a coupon code 'megan5' for $5 off!!

Lauri Tropea: This was an awesome tutorial, you make it look so easy!!!! Is this one set of extensions????

Kiana Florentino: This was so helpful!

CalamityAnvil: New to clip in hair extensions, thank you for this video. Wanted to ask what's the point of the 2 and 3 clip in wefts @7:15 assuming there two different size wefts? (and possibly sewing them together) why not just have one long strip across? Does it have to do with it being too heavy? Hope this makes sense.

easternhair: very detailed! thank you

SLSGRK: I Loved this a lot and I want to buy some. I must know what is on your eyes!!! Please make a tutorial of this look... Love your guts!!

Christy Wulff: Thank you so much for this video!! :)

matinachtz: Hi Megan, do you have any suggestions on products that give shine to the extensions like the silicone coating they have when you buy them for the first time but something that dries not like oils that tend to grab dust overtime and look dull and want to be washed again because i try to avoid washing them frequently to keep them in good condition for as long as possible :)

Megan McTaggart: Aah thank you! I know what you mean, I hate hate hate those short hairs showing through!! I'm so glad you found it helpful!

Megan McTaggart: I'm so glad you liked it! I should have another video coming out today if the technician comes over to fix my computer ( it crashed :( ) thanks so much for watching!

Brittany aubrey: I just found your video my hair is just about the same length as yours and this is the best video I have ever seen on this topic :) u def have a subscriber in me

Gabriela Rosado: I was wondering, are you extensions cut into layers to flow with your hair or just straight up 22 in?

Sabrina MillanMillan: I wanna do this ! :) my hair is the exact same length . But are the clips uncomfortable?

DaazzXO: I have to say, youre the first girl with short hair who knowwwwws how to blend long hair extensions! BRAVO! it looks natural, and believe me I always know when someones wearing hair extensions :P But yours looks so real! wow

Rosie Dixon: Hi! This is amazing. I have a question if thats ok. I just brought new hair extensions being a bit over excited i got 26 inch ones and my hair is just about the same as yours. i didnt realise how long they would be. they are also kind of thin? I didnt realise that even tho they look thick together. How do i blend them? Or cut them or just make them look ok. I spent my savings and i brought from this company before. I dont really understand how this happened lol. Please help yours look perfect plus my hair is naturally curly so its even harder with straight ones

Nilsa Perez: This is the best way to hide extension. I've seen yet !!!

Megan McTaggart: Thank you so much! I'm glad you like it!

Patti Charles: Thank u so much for this tutorial I'm 50 n just getting into hair extensions cuz my hair is bout chin length but very thin. I just received my hair ext 2 days ago so tomorro I'm gna watch ur video while I'm putting mine in

naz hass: thank u soo much for ur tips going to try this on my sistas wedding :) going to subscribe as well ;)

Lucia O.L: You have the best how to clip hair extensions video on youtube!:)

Megan McTaggart: I don't know if the comb really works for defrizzing, but I do love wide-tooth combs to prevent damaging my hair. I use argan oil on my hair religiously to keep it moisturized! And I haven't tried the shampoo :(

Roxy tejeda: Great tips thank you...:)

Gina Mirza: Best short hair extension video ever!

bonsailady: I wanna ask where did you buy the hair clip extension? Thanks for sharing your video.

shqipe639: This was the VIDEO! i was looking for! thanks :)

TT V: I'm commenting while watching and I get dry, frizzy hair, wonder if that comb would help? Also, have you tried the macadamia flawless cleansing shampoo?

Sarah Vazquez: GENIUS!!!!!!! YES! thank you! brilliant idea!

vero162: Quick question. I just recently donated my long hair to locks of love, I work at a clinic who takes care of kids with cancer. So since I have short hair just touching my shoulders I was wondering how do I tell the hair stylist to cut my hair like yours? And I wish I could get extentions I miss my long hair.

Megan McTaggart: Not with these extensions! That's one of the reasons I rave about them. They are the most comfortable clip-ins I've ever used. I have a review on them!

Ashley Hernandez: Great tip with the bottom hairs!

N Lucas: So helpfull!

Danielle van Rijt: I wish I knew this trick before I sold my extensions. :(

Sharane Strelsky: I watched you video and I think I am going to buy the Princess extensions. I was thinking about the Irresistible Me extensions but I think this might be a better buy. I loved your tutorial. I really which I could do my eye makeup like yours. Look sooooooo beautiful. I will probably have to watch your video several times. I am all thumbs. I am just getting into the whole extensions thing. I have watched about 40 u tube videos and I am I bumped into yours. Thanks!! Keep up the Good Work!! We ladies all want to feel pretty!!
