What'S up, what's goodie welcome or welcome back to my channel, my name is ashmore. If it's your first time here and for today's video, i'm gon na, be showing you guys how i got these 36 inches soft locks. If you're interested, then just keep on watching all right, you guys, so this is the faux locs that i'll be using. I got them from the beauty, supply store, they're 36 inches in length, and i got two packs um. I think the brand is called la flair and then i also got myself a pack of afro kinky in 20 inches and both packs of hair were in a black or a 1b color. So yeah, that's basically what i'm going to be using to create the soft locks and for my braids i did use some soft touch wax. I always use the one in the green can because it just holds longer. This is um what my braiding pattern looked like. I didn't want a lot of locks in my head, so hence the reason why they're a bit bigger than normal, but yeah, that's basically what my braiding pattern looks like. So the method i'm gon na be using to create my soft faux. Locs is basically i'm gon na, be adding the lock to the braids that i already created so basically the ends of my hair. I i cut my hair off a couple days ago, so the ends of my hair. When i'm doing my braiding, i don't you know braid it all the way down. So when i'm almost to the end of my natural hair, i'm gon na open up the lock itself and i'm gon na. Add it to my natural hair and continue braiding, after which i'm gon na use my crochet needle i'm gon na put that under the braid and grab a piece off my afro kinky here and pull it through after i've pulled the hair through i'm gon na make Sure that i leave the longest side for wrapping and basically i'm gon na wrap the roots about three times just to make sure it's nice and secure, and it also gives it that nice firstly done look as soon as the hair feels secure. Then i'm just gon na continue wrapping. However, i'm not going to wrap it as tightly as i was doing before, because if you wrap it tightly, it's basically not going to be soft locks, so you're just going to continue wrapping um. If you want to do that butterfly effect, then you can just put your thumb underneath the hair while you're wrapping, and that is what creates the butterfly lock effect um. But for your soft locks, you want to make sure that you continue wrapping until you've actually passed where you connected your natural hair and the lock itself. That way, you can ensure that the lock won't slip off, especially if you have shorter hair um. You want to make sure that the lock is secured and you can tug on it and it won't come apart. So that's basically how i create my knotless soft locks. I'M gon na go ahead and show you guys the process a couple more times. Just so you can, you know catch on if you haven't caught on already. So basically i have my braid already done. Um, i'm gon na undo the ends and then i'm gon na continue doing the braid, but i'm actually gon na add the soft lock with my natural hair and of course you want to make sure that you plant it as tightly as possible. So it won't fall off, especially if your hair is off a shorter length. Now as soon as you've added the hair, you can tug on it to ensure that it is secure as long as you're satisfied, then you can go ahead and get your afro kinky here. Um, you can also use passion twist for this portion, but the african keys, just it does the job and it's it's cheaper. So that's why i used it in this tutorial. So, as i mentioned, you're going to go ahead and use your crochet needle insert it under the braid um attach the afro kinky hair and pull it through. Then you want to ensure that you leave the longer end to wrap and you want to hold it as tightly as possible and start wrapping. It wrap it around three times tightly and after you've done that, then you can start wrapping it. You know kind of loosely. That'S what gives you the soft lock effect if you continue wrapping it tightly, you're still gon na get faux locs, but you're, probably gon na, be in a lot of pain. Your hair is gon na, be very stiff and it's just not gon na give that soft natural look. So you know i would recommend using the soft lock method, just light knotless braids as soon as you're done with your um knotless soft locks. You could you should actually be able to move them around with little to no attention um a couple of the ones that i did at the front i kind of did them tightly so it was kind of hard to move around, but on a general scale, you Should be able to move them around easily, you should be able to put it in a ponytail easily. So i'm going to show you guys my method, one more time. Just you guys can catch on and make sure that you know you're following all the steps and you got it done pat. So of course i have my natural hair and i'm gon na undo the ends. I'M gon na open the crochet here and i'm gon na continue braiding my natural hair with the opened end off the soft lock once it is nice and secured, i you know tug on it and test just in case if it's gon na come off because you Don'T want your hair falling off, especially not in public, so you know you can tug on it and ensure that it is nice and secure. Then you're gon na use your crochet needle you're gon na insert it under your natural braid, you're gon na. Add your afro kinky hair, pull it through you're gon na leave the longest end for wrapping you're gon na wrap around three times securely around the roots and then you're just gon na continue wrapping it um loosely so that it gives you this nice soft natural effect. If you want butterfly locks, then you could always add your thumb under um, the hair so that it gives it kind of a bubble. Just like you guys see in the video right now and it looks nice and i feel like it just gives it this more natural effect, because i feel like real locks. They don't look that neat. They have this. You know edgy, look to them. So, that's why i like to add my little butterflies to my locs, so i feel like by now. You guys should basically know the steps that i've repeated, so i'm gon na show you guys the steps one more time, but this time i'm just gon na. Let you guys watch without me explaining more so once i've done everything i'm going to go ahead and try to slick my edges down, i'm going to be using the same. Soft touch wax that i showed you guys in the beginning of the video in the green jar. I'M not really doing anything special with my edges, i'm literally just slicking them down. So, just to give you guys some information on the hair that i used for the packs that i received, i received 24 pieces in each pack. I ended up using two packs, but i had a remainder of four locks left over, so that means i ended up using approximately 44 locks. Just for reference for the majority. I think people normally use around two and a half packs, but for me i really don't like a lot of hair on my head, so that is why i decided to go with just two packs um. The hair is very, very lightweight um, as i mentioned, with this method, you're able to put your hair in a ponytail as soon as you're finished. So i just did my edges and i added some mousse to make sure i got rid of all my flyaways. This um specific style, you don't have to do any trimming, you don't have to do anything like that and it took me approximately three hours um to complete. So it's a quick style. It lasts very long. You can keep this style in for a month or two with low maintenance, and the good thing with using the afro kinky is that here lasts a long time as you guys notice. I didn't use a lot to do the roots and there's a lot that comes in the pack. So if your hair grows out, you can always refresh it and it's basically going to look as if it's freshly done. I am going to go ahead and add some oil sheen to my hair. Just so it looks nice and shiny and it smells good, and this is what my hair was looking like. I cannot tell you guys how much i love this style. This is perfect for summer. This is perfect for on the go. This is a great protective style. All you have to do is add your hair growth oils. Add your mousse. Add your hair sprays, literally whatever you prefer and you're literally done, like it's so low maintenance um. The only thing is, the hair itself might be a little bit more expensive than regular braiding hair, especially because it is 36 inches in length. But as i mentioned before, this style can last you a couple of months and the more it grows out, the more natural it looks if you want to refresh it, it's always easy to do so. I honestly loved how these turned out, and i hope you guys enjoyed this video again if you're not yet subscribed, please go ahead and click that subscribe button.
