Have a great day!

Hi everyone welcome back to my channel. A lot of you have requested a knitted messy bun ponytail hat pattern for me, so I have one up that I'm doing actually a four in one pattern: it is a messy bun hat a beanie, a slouch hat or cow. Here'S what the finished version looks like if you want to wear it as a cowl. It will look like this to wear it as a hat. You cinch up the cord, either all the way or leaving a little opening. If you want to poke your ponytail through and then you can wear it as a slouch or fold the brim up and wear a beanie, and if you want to make this for a little youngster, you can just cast onto your stitches and it will make the Smaller hat grab some size, u.s. 13 needles, they're also called 9 millimeter. These are 24 inches from tip to tip, which will work 16 inches from tip to tip would work even better. We just want some type of needle to knit in the round you're going to need 4 ounces of worsted weight yarn. You are actually going to hold the yarn double throughout the whole project to make essentially a thicker yarn, so you can do like. I did and create a center pull ball of yarn and pull one strand from the inside and one from the outside and hold those together or you can make two separate balls to learn how to make a center pull ball. I have a video for you. You can check in my channel for that how to find a center pull ball with your hands or how to use a swift and ball winder. The first thing you're going to do to get started, is cast on 60 stitches using the longtail cast on method. If you don't know how to cast on and you're brand new to knitting check out my how to knit for beginners - and I break it down in detail, zoomed up close so that you can know what you're doing hold your yarn double just pretend it's one. Thicker yarn and start with a slipknot, so we're going to need sixty stitches, so pull up sixty inches one two. I just measure from my nose to my hand, stretched out twice and make a slipknot now we're going to join for working in the round, and it's very important that you don't twist your stitches in order to make a cylinder which is essentially what we are forming. It is very important. It is crucial that your stitches are all lined up like so rather than twist it around like this. It'S super easy for your stitches to get twisted and you won't end up with a cylinder. You'Ll have a really weird twisty thing, and it won't work so very, very, very important that your first round is started with all of your stitches. Lined up like this and not twist it around your needle squish. All your stitches up onto your needle we're going to be working into the side. That does not have the end in the tail. I mean the end and the working yarn attached. So this is where we'll be inserting our needle, so these stitches need to be up towards the tip and ready to work round. One is super simple. It'S the basis of our ribbing pattern for the whole thing. So knit two purl two knit two purl two knit two purl two knit two purl all arrow knit one knit two remember: to bring your yarn in front purl one purl, two yarn in back. Repeat that all the way around knit one knit two purl one purl two and just keep scooting your stitches around and don't worry if you get a gap between the first stitch, knitted and the start of the the end of the other round, because that'll tighten up Later knit two purl two knit two purl two and this first round is always a little bit tighter it'll get easier and looser to knit as you go along. Don'T worry about that two purl two knit two purl two okay round. One is step round. One is done another thing to keep in mind if you want to. You can put a stitch marker at the end of your round to make sure you always know when you come back around or I just check where the tail is that it's pretty easy on this pattern to see up, you now we're in a round number two. This is around that creates the little holes that go around one of the edges that the cord runs through. So you can cinch it up to make it a hat. It'S really simple! It'S knit two yarn over! That'S what makes the whole purl two together repeat that all the way around I'll show you Nick one knit two yarn over to make your hole, pull the yarn in front and purl two together and then yarn in back again knit one knit two yarn over yarn In front purl, two together and repeat that all the way around knit knit yarn over purl two together knit knit yarn over yarn in front purl, two together round, two is complete and you should have something that looks like this. So from here on out. It'S super simple, you're, going to repeat round one: that's it over and over knit two purl two knit two purl two knit two purl two knit two purl two knit two purl two and round and round around until your hat cowl is nine and a half inches. Give or take I used almost the entire ball of yarn. It was 200 yards, four ounces a little bit so that you can make a little cord to run through once your hat is nine and a half inches or as long as you like, you'll want to bind off with a stretchy bind-off technique. I recommend Jenny's surprisingly stretchy bind-off and I have a video on how to do that. I'Ll, put the links below for you to create the chain that goes through the holes to cinch it up. I decide a simple crochet chain. You need a crochet hook, darning needle to leave in your ends and scissors, of course, and the same yarn that you were using other options. If you don't want to use a crochet chain like this, you could use ribbon. I thought that would be really pretty or strips of fabric, or you could use a different color yarn. I even thought it would be pretty to put beads on the end so that they dangle thread your tails on both both ends of your chain onto a darning needle and just poke those back through and cut off the excess. Of course, you also weave in your ends on your actual hat. Then you take your cord and weave it in and out in and out of the holes, and then I have both coming out of the same hole. That'S going to allow you to cinch it up and tie a bow. However, you would like to thank you so much for watching. I hope you enjoyed learning how to make this little foreign 1 hat cowl pattern. Morgan Adams: I am still working on your champagne cowel as my first knit pattern ever (I'm definitely a crochet person) and your videos were the only ones that really worked for me :) also I'm excited because we have the same knitting needles (or close enough to be the same)

Rita Karns: This is going to be perfect for my nieces birthday! Thanks for the great pattern!

Maryam N.: Just learned how to knit from your channel and made my first matching set of winter hat and scarf. Forever thankful for your channel. I entered your July-august 2017 giveaway and am hoping to win the yarn so I can create more projects from your channel. Thank you so much❤️

GiGi Johnson: I am a beginner and this was by far once of the easier to understand and accomplish. Thank you so very much.

Carmen M. Rodriguez: Thank you for posting this wonderful pattern...Love it!

Crystal Nation: So cute! Thanks for sharing!

McKenna Murphy: This was the first hat I ever made and the first time I ever knit in the round. People ask me where I got my hat and I'm super proud to say I made it. You are an awesome instructor. I did have a few video ideas I would like to mention. :) 1) How to knit a sweater. 2) How to knit a mermaid tail blanket. I haven't knitted anything that requires measuring to fit someone. I am a bit intimidated by the prospect. You have such a fun personality I would love to watch one of your videos that teaches how to fit to size. The mermaid tail blankets are super cute and I think would be a good beginning project to learn to do measurements. Also there isn't a decent knit mermaid tail blanket video on YouTube yet. Just a thought :) Thank you!!!

joan66joshua: Thank you for this pattern. I knitted it, beautiful. I love it

Sharon Roslansky: This is SOOO cool!! I Learned how to knit and crochet last year from your channel! Keep up the good work. Luv your yarn and patterns!!

Arlene Ehrlinspiel: Just finished this, and watched your video on Jenny’s stretchy bind off. THANK YOU! Finally was able to understand the bind off after watching your video, have tried to do this bind off before and could not “get it” it worked perfectly. Thank You for all of the time you put into you videos.

Eleni Mitchell: I made mine in crochet. Thanks so much for the inspiration. I’m too impatient to knit these days. So I watched your video and made a crochet one. My 10 year old son loved it

MICHELLE: Great video. You're a good teacher I'm new to knitting after 26 years. I have just made this. It's amazing little hat and super cute. Thanks for the share

Karen1Nicola: How incredibly clever! ❤

Rita Muller: Super cute video! I think I’ll finish mine with an I cord to use for the cinch part, with a single strand of the same yarn. Love, love , love your modeling and dancing.

Bees & Yarn: Hey Chandi! That is an awesome project, great as a gift. Do you think you could do a tutorial on knitted metered squares please? I saw a really blanket that uses them but love your tutorials. Thanks, Miss Bee

Peg 1122: I love this pattern! It is so practical. Would an i-cord work in place of a chain stitch chord? I also just love watching your videos, even when the patterns are way above my skill-set. You are such a positive influence. Thank you, for all that you do!

Jasmin: I love your videos and I have learned so much from your beginner videos. I would love a tutorial on how to use double point needles, I'm so clueless on how to use them. Thank you.

Ruth Ann McCahill: cute, easy, love it

J Watley: You are so cute! Love watching your videos..instructions are easy to follow! I would love to make a bag..or knitted hat with brim..easy beginner..thank you

NAME VALE: Great idea, so useful because of the versatility. I am always a fan of cute, yet useful knitted garments. Thanx for the video, I can't wait to give this a try. You also made me laugh with your dancing. Thanks again.

Eloisa Chavez: On my third try, I finally got the hole thing, its perfect. The elastic bind off left me in the dark as I've never heard of that tape. Looked it up on you tube and found several to do without flare without the tape you mentioned. But found out I couldn't do it in the round. Finally just binded off regular and it's fine, mainly cause the 60 cast ons are usually too big for my head. A little more explanation on that would have been nice. All's well, love my beanie, thank you!

CHICHISWEETS: Nicely done and fun! I'll have to try it with 1 strand of bulky or chunky yarn.

redredwine1277: Great ideas, thanks for sharing

Sally Thibodeaux: Great pattern

Maggie Odor E .: Genial !!❤

Ooh, look at me: Could you do a video for a hat or another project that involves cables? I know you have your tutorial but it would be great to see how it works on a full project. Love your channel and inspiring life! Warmest regards, Natasha x

Awkward Katalyst: awesome! I'll have to make this for one of my friends :) your tutorials are the best. i might have given up on knitting if not for you. will there be a sock tutorial in the future?

tag qasim: Rock on! Love it..thank u soo much 4 sharing it!

Rehana Khan: My dearest I just know the basics and I just love this pattern, which I will give a go at. Love all your (videos) tutorial, thank you for all your gorgeous patterns love them all. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐❤❤❤

Ang B: Hello chandi i am going to make this hat..have a couple of questions? Is this a one size fits all? Do you need to measure around your head and that will determine how many cast on? How long did you make your chain( the drawstring) for this hat..

Portillo Family: What is the. purpose of using double yarn? Will it give the same effect to use a thicker yarn?

Chad Roberts: I went on your blog to find this pattern but... I couldn't find it??

Yuleima Malone: I guess i confused !☹️☹️
