Ponytail Roller Set: How Often Do I Flat Iron? Setting Lotion? Single Stand Knots? Etc.

Questions: Ponytail Roller set, How often I flat iron, Setting lotion, Single stand knots etc.

Thank you to all of my commenters and long-term viewers for jumping in and assisting my new viewers. It really helps me out much appreciated. Also, this video is more for my new viewers. I'Ve already addressed a majority of these questions several times. I understand that i'm constantly getting an influx of new viewers and subscribers, so i don't mind answering the questions, but for my older following you may find this redundant repetitive, you may want to sit this out. I don't know you may need a refresh if questions like this should arise in the future, i'll, just direct you to the link in the description box. What do you wrap your rollers with it's a very simple old school technique? It'S a technique that i've adopted from my grandmother, which, by the way i wanted to mention that the 14th of september marked the fourth year of my grandmother's, passing to new viewers. I used to make videos with my grandmother and it's been four years since she has not been in my life four years since her passing. So i just wanted to acknowledge that, but uh it's a very simple technique. It'S as simple as it looks. I simply just take paper towel and wrap it around. My rollers supplements from the true wave and paper. It'S the same thing, but i find paper towel to work way better because i have the paper and it doesn't do anything for me. So i simply just wrap it around the con air rollers that i purchased from ross and walmart. It keeps the rollers from slipping. It keeps the grip there, so i've used several flat irons over the years, but i always go back to my old, faithful and that is the h2 pro 5 ace. I purchased this flat iron about 12 years ago back then. I think they made it a lot stronger, because i find that it performs a lot better than the upgraded version i purchased. I don't even use the upgraded version anymore. Wow, your hair looks amazing. It looks beautiful what kind of flat iron do you use this? It'S really not about the flat iron, it's more! So what you do to your hair prior to flat ironing that will give you the results that you want any flat iron will get your hair straight. You pay more for the technology as far as like keeping your hair, healthy, less heat applies to your hair and flat irons that actually put moisture back into your hair and ceramic plates. All those different elements that go into why flat irons are more expensive, but the the basis of it all is just straightening your hair. How many times you flat iron? In a year, i only flat iron, my hair every other month six times a year. My hair is straight six months out of the year and that's because i do a 30 day stretch once i flat iron, my hair, i make it last for 30 days once that initial flat ironing process, i do not flat iron, my hair anymore. After that, i don't care. If i get caught out in the rain, i don't care if my hair gets wet in the shower, then at that point i'll just start manipulating my hair wearing ponytails or wearing buns, but i only let that flat iron touch, my hair. Six times a year, what products do you use on your hair? I only use water on my hair when i'm either doing a roller set or stretching my hair. I'Ve already deep conditioned my hair. The deep conditioner has already provided my hair with all the nutrients moisture conditioning silicone protection, immense amount of shine and body. So my hair already feels soft. It feels supple, it feels conditioned, so i don't need additional product product would only weigh my hair down anyways. I do have low porosity hair, it's very hard to get moisture in your hair. That'S why i deep condition with heat is once the moisture gets trapped in it stays and it does not escape. My hair remains moisturized for the remainder of the 30 day stretch from the time i flat iron, my hair, i don't need anything else in my hair. My hair can go 30 days without anything. Anything at all water is sufficient enough, because the conditioning pretty much took care of everything my hair needed does need additional product doesn't need additional moisture. I took care of that during the deep conditioning process. What do you use to dye your hair now? This is a very popular question and i i get this question all the time and i don't know if my hair looks darker because of the editing software. Maybe the editing makes my hair appear darker, but my hair is actually a dark brown. I guess it does appear darker on video, but no, my hair is a dark brown. I do not dye my hair at all. I only do pieces of my hair that i'm willing to sacrifice little tiny little pieces that i'm willing to sacrifice. Even when i had that mishap with beijing, i only put it around my edges. As far as my gray hairs are concerned, i'm very happy just plucking. I am very content, just plucking, i don't dye my hair, my hair appears black, but it's actually dark brown and it just probably looks a little darker because of editing the final question for today. I believe it was. How do i handle single strand knots, or do i cut out single strand knots? I don't have the question in front of me. The only time i get single strand knots is when i wear my hair in a wash and go twist out or braid out. Whenever i wear my hair straight, i never get single strand knots. It'S only when i do high manipulation hairstyles, i consider straight styles. Low manipulation so when i'm wearing a low manipulation hairstyle, never never ever do i get single strand knots hairstyles, like braid outs, twist outs wash and gos. It requires so much more of my attention. You have to be extra delicate with your hair. You have to take your time, it's very time, consuming to prevent breakage and additional shedding with my straight hair. It'S already detangled. It'S no maintenance. It'S so easy to maintain! That'S why i wear my hair straight most of the time now, i'm not saying uh curly hairstyles are not manageable, they're, just not that manageable for me, so i'm not trying to put it out there that curly hairs styles are not manageable. No, that's not what i'm saying, but i do find straight hair to be a lot more easy to maintain. There is almost no maintenance involved, there's no high manipulation, detangling process and finger detangling, and you know my suggestion. If you get a lot of single strand knots, try stretching your hair first before you put your hair in a braid out before you do a twist out or do a stretched wash and go if you find that more manageable. I just can't stand the single strand knots to prevent them. I just don't wear high manipulation, hairstyles that would create them. You

AmeeraNakisha: Finally someone that gets what I always say. Straight hair is way more low maintenance for me. Wash n go’s and braid/twist outs require a ton of maintenance. I straighten my hair every 2-3 weeks and it’s good from then on out. Granted my hair is in a ponytail 99% of the time but I don’t have to spend a ton of time on it

Nakia: Yessss... we always need a refresh. I remember how you were when you lost your grandmother. Showing that even when we are hurting was must continue to thrive as that’s what our loved ones want from us! Loving these videos.

Jamel Bond: You have some of the healthiest, long and shiny hair I've seen on YouTube, what you've been doing over the years is working. I find your videos informative and very calming, I think there's something therapeutically calming and refreshing seeing someone care for their hair.

Pualena IsZ: Sista, us older subbies need these video refreshers also! ❤You're the only person who can do ALL the things the hair YouTubers say NOT to do and still have Gorgeous healthy tresses! But, you are correct in saying you have to find what works for you and rock it! I found out when I listen to my hair, it grows. I gain insight when viewing your videos because I too have Low Porosity hair. Great info...Again! My prayers to you as you continue to thrive without yr Sweet Grandmother.

StaRwaka: Hello, Sis. I still use this roller setting method. Loved those sessions with your Grandmother, Being a great-grandmother myself I appreciated those moments, so beautiful. Blessings.

fluffyfeet2: I think I speak for everyone when I say , we don’t mind the repetition of information. I’ve been following you for years and only recently started using the grape seed oil with such amazing success! My hair literally has been waving up which it’s never done before also the slip is outstanding. With that said thank you so much for sharing your hair tips appreciate your time.

Carolyn Levy: I remember when your grandmother passed and your did the video reminiscing over the times that you two shared together. I can't believe it has been four years. I do not mind the refreshers at all, please keep the videos coming.

DM: Sooo glad I found you This is all making so much sense to me. I too, am low porosity and after three years of being natural (and avoiding all heat like the plague) I recently got a Silk press and realise heat is not my enemy, it's actually my low porosity hair's friend! I literally decided I would heat stretch every 8 weeks from here on out as I actual retain more hair strands on my head this way. I loose so much hair in its unstretched state due to SSK's. Your video just confirmed that I'm onto a good thing here. Thank you! question: which deep conditioner is your favourite right now? Can you do a video detailing your current full wash day routine?

Kate Brinfour: I love your channel. I discovered it a couple weeks ago and I’ve been hooked since. I feel like the majority of hair questions that I have are answered in your videos. You go straight to the point and I love your transparency. I also love that you don’t clickbait and use tactics of “how to grow out your hair” like some natural hair you tubers. You let us know your recommendations and what works for your hair and porosity. I’ve learned a lot. Thank you so much

King Chameleon’s Eye: no worries about repeated content. just glad you're still around uploading videos ✊

AuthorHollingsworth: Love the paper towel method. My momma and grandmother used to do the paper bag method on everybody's hair. Good times!!!!

HENNESSY the BLACK ROSE 🌹: Thank you. Time has really been moving wow 4 years Sending love and hugs and thank you very much for sharing I see you’ve gone back to your grannies techniques I think that’s beautiful she will always be a part of you thanks for sharing Sending much respect and love

mjgarner123: Sis, I remember how sweet you were to your Grandmother. Doesn't seem like 4 yrs. You two had a very special relationship. I enjoyed seeing you do her hair and your interactions. I know you miss her. Reminds us all, we have to value and love on our loved ones while we have a chance. Enjoying your videos and the refresh. :)

matoaka21: Yes, I've been struggling with breakage due to single stand knots lately. I haven't been able to make my silk press last for half as long as you can. I'm looking into different straightening treatments. Always love your videos, Sis!

Ronda Smith: Heyyy queen!! It still amazes me that you don't use a comb flat ironing your hair. I'm going to try the paper towels since my papers still slip. I have low porosity too and I've been loving the ponytail set at home for yrs because I still will NOT let a blowdryer touch my healthy lengths. I can't believe your angel of a grandmother has been gone 4 yrs and having lost mine years ago, that loss and missing them stays with you so I'm sending a virtual hug. You can upload anything old or new because I'm watching. Us old head subbies like a refresher too

Natasha: You are absolutely correct with the statement that straight hair is low manipulation. I get my hair washed and roller set once a week because its so much easier to not have to tug and pull on it when I wear a wash and go.

Bridges to Wisdom: 4 years already after your grandmother's passing! But you're holding on Sis. Keep the refresher courses coming. It's always good to see them again. Stay blessed~

Allysse: Omg I thought water only was a myth! I guess everything is relative to your hair type and texture. Clearly this method is working for you, your hair looks amazing ❤️

Simply Shar: So glad your sharing again! You give very simple and helpful tips. Thank you!

lolo: I am so glad I saw this video again! I love the paper towel roller set... then flat iron,This method made my hair soooo shiny! Thanks for this video, it is great refresher!

l jolivet: Girl, I thought it was me. I have low porosity curly hair. I guess it would be considered a 3c/4a (Noel sure about hair typing) but my curly hair stresses me out. It’s always breaking but when my hair is straightened it’s more manageable & I retain more length.

ZOELLE: Low porosity.... Bought the same products and this is my first time using it and my hair was low porosity and always dry and I set for 30 minutes under the dryer I can definitely say my hair and my daughter's hair has more shine to it. I will keep doing it more to experience greater results.

Lisa S.: I have been watching from the beginning. I remember your videos with your grandmother and you doing her hair. Beautiful memories for you. I like your long hair. It looks so healthy. When you cut ✂️ your hair will it be shoulder length or shorter? Your videos are helpful. Looking forward to many more.

Renee Simpson: My hair is so coily and kinky I feel the need to always blow dry before my press. But I think I will try this method with the rollers to stretch my hair 1st with no heat before flat ironing. Thanks!

Reservechic: Your hair looks absolutely marvelous, boo! Seeing you take care of your hair and do it with with such love and dedication is always so wonderful to see!

Fatima Dean: I'm telling you, I keep going back and forth with wanting to a a straight hair natural. My problem is I don't like maintenance of any kind... I think this has given me that final push in that direction as I also have low porosity hair. Thanks for the update!!

B. Danielle Broussard: I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother passing away. I remember the videos you used to do with her, she was such a kind and regal woman. Glad that you're back, I missed your content.

francesca francesca: Thank you for all this awesome info. Your advice is much better than the advice I've received in the salon for sure. When you do the leave in conditioner, you leave it in and wrap it at that point...or is it regular conditioner you use? Thank you..

blkhollywoodnatural: I’ll have to try it with the paper towel method and see how it turns out on my hair. Thanks so much for sharing!!

Angela D: This is the first time I have viewed one of your videos in its entirety. Great content! I either can, or have literally applied every one of your tips. You have a new follower here. Btw, you are stunningly beautiful!

Tamara Jenkins: Hello Sista, I know it has been four years since your grandma received her wings but I still want to say sorry for your loss. I know she is looking down on you with a big smile on her face, and is so proud. Xoxo

alicat2069: Gods abundant blessings from my home to yours beautiful. I hope you and your grandmother will be united in glory. My hair length is where it is bc of your advice so thank you Sista. I have been following you for a few years and will continue to do so. You're my favourite and you are so much more beyond just hair advice. I was trying to go all year sporting wng's but the SSK's are becoming more apparent. so after watching this video and understanding that SSK occur more with high manipulation styling....maan at some point I may straighten my hair in the cooler months. will go over and watch the Gym hair video now hahaaha lawdy lawdy. Remain Blessed Sista Mwah

S.Punkie: ‍♀️No you did NOT just have your shed hair wefted! But... I love it!!! We stan an innovative SistahQueenWithRealHair!

Felicia Williams: Love your videos, they get straight to the point.

Jessica B: I think you just gave me an epihany, Im a younger viewer in my early 20s, but I remeber watching you years ago, when my hair was transitioning, now natural. My hair HATEs when I braidout, wash n go, esp. now, I just may be low porisity and may start stretching my hair. Because, it can be moisturized or tamed for the life of me lol.. Thanks!!! And sorry for your loss Glad to see you again!

azure winged: Great video. Ok, got it...Nothing else added to your hair after the flat iron... I’m on it! I’m going to give it a shot. Thank you!!!

Hope Simmons Beauty: Heyyy girlie!!!! So great to see you back. AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! Say it louder again about those single strand knots!!!! Every summer after wearing wash and go’s I’m doing a big trim. I plan not do them next year. I know how much you miss your beautiful Grandmother. ALL God’s BEST to you sis!

jessica bonds: OMG I've missed you sis!!! So happy you are doing well. Stay strong and I am here if you need me. Love you and God Bless

Carmen Sanchez: Thanks for the tips, very informative!! I will try them all!!

Celeste Porter: Thanks for video and all content you provide. How you roller set is covered in this video. I saw a recent video where you said you no longer roller set your hair. Have you transitioned from roller setting your entire head to ponytail roller setting? Seeking clarification.

genapruitt: Thank you so much! First time viewer here, and this was very helpful. I'm definitely subscribing to your channel. Thanks, again! :)

KeenaArtist: Sending love as you remember your grandmother. Questions, I’ve been looking for the grapeseed oil, have you noticed a change with your staple brand? I’m a little confused about when you use the grapeseed oil on your hair. Can you elaborate?

Toya B: Keep the videos coming. I remember the videos with you and your grandma it reminded me of doing my grandma's hair in the kitchen. She passed a few years before you lost your grandma. I know she was your heart.

Ilovesesshomaru sama: Do you add protein back into your hair? I hear about protein and moisture balance. I think it’s important for most of us to remember that heat I believe can ruin protein bonds, so it’s important to add it back in. Have you ever had protein overload or moisture overload?

XxNekoKilaxX: I thought I was doing good flat ironing my hair once a month. Maybe I should skip a month too. Wavy hair (I’m 3a/3b) gets tangled so much or maybe I’m just not using the right products.. which is why I prefer straight so I don’t lose so much hair when I brush it out.

Donnie Richardson: I been watching from day one and I am still excited to see your videos. You are still as beautiful as ever. Thank you for dropping in with your videos when you can.

Miss Nolver: This lady has superior hair!

~Daphne Amy's World~!: Ive the paper roller set method on Curly perms or perm rod set. I'm defiently trying this out

Nolo R: You are so right that straight hair is low maintenance. I need to consider becoming straight hair natural since I was about to get a relaxer. I only discovered you this year and I am sorry to hear about your grandmother

CurlsxCutlure: Yassss sis! You are on a roll right now! I appreciate the content and love getting a notification from your channel!!!

Marsha Dupree: So happy you are still making videos!!!!!! Thank you beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️

felicia bryant: I think I will try this next time I was my hair. My hair is much much shorter so I'm not looking for the same results but I curious to see what will happen.

earthangel: Such gorgeous hair. Did you use a leave in? If I live in Florida, do you think I would need an anti frizz cream?

Ronda S: FYI, healthy hair naturally shines when you flat iron it. You've beautiful healthy hair, love it

Victoria P: When I used to get my hair straightened every 2 weeks I could go months without a trim. Now, not so much.

Mimi D.: When you'll cut your hair in December, please do a wig out of it and I'll definitely buy it. Better than indian, peruvian and brazilian hair all together
