4C Natural Hair: How To Do Flat Twists + Ponytail Protective Style

Hey guys welcome back to my channel if you're new here welcome to my channel fashion is a tree here. Aka Matilda and today's video is obviously a hair video. You can tell from the title, and I am clearly not in my maximum elements today. I wanted to attempt a flat twist and a ponytail kind of hairstyle today, if that works out great, if it doesn't great so before we start off, my hair is washed, conditioned deep, conditioned and straightened a bit. I used my straightening brush. I didn't go in in. I genuinely didn't want the struggle of pot in my hair today, but I still feel like it's still a bit matted in there, but we're gon na deal with that. So without any further ado, let's get right into this video. I think I'm gon na go into some leave-in conditioner, just to moisturize a hair bit and I'm using the can to leave-in conditioning cream. I love this stuff. It'S generally really good, like I use it to moisturize my hair cuz. My hair just does not retain moisture for some reason. Oh god, the white needs to disappear. It'S fine! It'S fine! We'Ve got this about this. Just give yourself a bit of a massage just a bit. I feel like I'm just tangling my hair up, which so what I'm going to do now is I'm going to section off my hair, I'm going to use my hands for this cuz. No one's really gon na see this bit. So I want the ponytail to come. Like this and have flat twists all the way, so, let's see maybe here would be ideal. I'M gon na hold this front sections just very loosely and on this side as well. So I'm going to add some leave in just to that section. I'M gon na go in a gel, so I don't really want my hair drying out. So I'm really trying to go ham with the conditioner. Okay, that's enough! Then I'm gon na take a brush and let show you just brush my hair upwards. That way we can bring it to the ponytail. So if you want a high ponytail or a low ponytail, it's all up to you. I think I'm gon na do kind of like a high ponytail, so somewhere like yeah here, would be ideal. So I'm gon na take my eco styler gel. She is finished, but I have another one always talked upon: eco styler, you never know when you're gon na need a tubful to lay down your hair. I'M just gon na apply it around my edges. Really. I want this hair to be really sleep. So hopefully that is achievable today, so I'm going to use this eco styler one. This is the black, castor and flax seed oil on this other one is the olive oil one so yeah the opening for this one, and this one smells good. So I like this one, actually I'm glad I got to use it and then I'm going to brush my hair. Obviously so I'm going to take a hair tie and I'm going to hold my ponytail up and above try get it as flat as possible. I will lay this down in the stop. So that's: okay! Okay, that's a bit tight! I can feel my brain coming up and then I'm gon na hold it and I'm going to leave it like a tiny whoa that is tight. That is so tight, oh god. Okay, so I'm going to add some bobby pins just to make this flat. Don'T worry! This will be covered up with her okay. Now the ponytail is sitting and she's ready to go now. We'Re gon na work on this front bit and I'm gon na start with one section, so I didn't really leave that much space. It'S just like a this much and I just want some flat twists just to add something to this ponytail, because I've done a regular, ponytail and there's that. But I wanted to do something exciting and different, and I'm going to add some conditioner to this section. Just to have it a bit conditioned and moisturize, then I'm gon na brush it a bit just to help loosen things up. Something really gentle. I don't understand why I actually straightened my hair now it doesn't make sense, but here we are so now I want to do a bit of a style cuz, I'm stylish. I have an entire video on how to flat twist your hair for wigs something to link. That'S down below, but for this hairstyle I just want something very cool. I guess, and I'm gon na do smaller fat twists. So with my parting, I'm kind of carving it a bit just have a bit of a cup going on. As you can see, this section goes in a bit of a cough and that's what I want I'm going to hold this section Namie take some gel and apply it to both sides. So this side and this side and the reason I'm doing this is because I want this to be really really sleek and snatched, so this will help us achieve that. The section has no tangles, that's good. So now it's time to twist, so twisting is really easy. If you understand what you're doing so, I'm just gon na take a bit of a section at the front and I'm just gon na twist all the way to the back just start small, I'm picking here from the other section. Jesus clearly not abroad this. So you flat twist until you get to the place where the ponytail is right there and just finish off your twist. Sometimes when the hair gets a bit dry, I just put conditioner on my fingertips and continue twisting and that's one twist done so. I know it looks a bit white, but it's because of all the products. I promise you it's gon na go away, so I'm just gon na wrap that around my bun and tuck it in and I'm gon na do the same thing all over again. So my only advice for this hairstyle is that you make your parting very sleek. I know you don't see it right now, but once you lay down everything, it's going to look very, very neat and you want them to look neat. So that's the trick just get them very sleek. Okay, so I've done a total of four twists on this side and I think that looks pretty good. So I'm going to replicate the same exact thing on this side. Obviously, hopefully I can get them even hopefully. Well, I have residues avoid everywhere man, so now that my fat twists are done, I actually really love how it turned out, I'm just going over the ends with some gel. I'M just doing this to ensure that my hair stays flat after I've laid it down with a scarf. So I know it's looking a bit white, but I promise you will be able to see this after everything is laid and smooth. But basically, this is what my pattern looks like: okay, so taking my beloved scarf, I'm going to lay this down, so I'm going to tie my scarf for about 15 minutes and let that set. So, let's do it real tight, I'm going to let this sit for 15 minutes and then we're going to come back and finish everything, but basically the hard part is done, because what we're doing next is really easy to do so. Let'S let this set and bake and cook and I'll see in a minute, so remember how I said: I'd be gone for 15 minutes. It'S been three hours because I had to go adults. I had to go pay bills and I went like this. People were staring and I was like just trust the process man. This is gon na look good. I promise but yeah. I went out looking like this. I ran my errands. All my bills are paid thank Jesus now, it's time to see if it's flat twists have set done, look at that. That is pearly, if I do say so myself. So the fact wrists are looking really cute. We had to use tubs and tubs of gel. It'S a little bit white. I think 15 minutes is too short a time if you're going to do this style on very coarse hair like 4c, I suggest you do it like an hour before you leave that way. Wear white residue is all gone and you're. Looking so now it's time for the fun bit attaching a ponytail, I have scoured and start, and I found two precious bundles. I got these ones from Britta cosmetics ages ago and yeah they're gon na serve the purpose. For today. I think we're going to use one, but if it's not too full I'm going to use two because who doesn't love a full ponytail. The reason I flat twisted everything is so that this wouldn't look so weird prepare to my hair texture. Obviously, you can find a bundle that has your texture of hair. This is this is matted up, oh god. Oh god. That'S! That'S! Oh shh shh! Oh! That needs a lot of brush in okay. Give me a second as I brush this and get my life together, because fam this is a joke. I haven't used this hair in, like I think, a year or two years, whoo, so we'll see okay, she's brushing out quite okay, okay, that's easier than I thought this would be so oh look at them, bundles, girl, okay, so now the bundle is kind of decent. So this was about. I think this is 22 inches, I'm not sure but mm-hmm whatever hair you have will work. So I'm going to take my hair. You take one end, so you section off a small bit like this and what I'm going to do is I'm going to wrap this bit around my hair so like this wrap it as tightly as you can so now, I'm just going to wrap the bundle around. My hair, hopefully this does not tangle on me. She looks like she will. She looks like that type of bundle, but it's fine we'll make it work we'll make it work. Do it as tightly as you can without giving yourself a concussion, I'm trying to detangle this as I go, I'm keeping her in the mirror and she's looking cute already Yas. Okay, once you get to the end of your bundle, you're gon na do the same thing. You did you're going to take the end bit just like that and you're gon na wrap that around your hair, just to secure your hair. That way it's not flying about and she stays snatched says. I need to brush this because she is disrespecting me right now that looks a bit too thin in my opinion, so I'm gon na do another bundle, so once you're done, you should have something that looks like this. I should probably straighten this bundles, but I am too lazy for that right now, but to distract from the fact that I haven't straightened. My bundles, I'm just gon na add some hair accessories. This hairstyle is really cute super simple to do, and this should last you maybe three to five days depending on how well you take care of it and once they start coming undone, you can just redo your twists.
