Crochet Messy Bun/Ponytail Beanie

Hi everyone welcome to today's video, so in today's video we're going to crochet the messy bun beanie now um, this is the yarn that i'm going to use. This is from blue label and it's the coffee cotton range, and this does recommend a four millimeter crochet hook. However, i'm going to use a 6.5, so we are going to start by placing a slip knot on our hook like so, and we are just going to chain 24 chains, and that's all there is to the start of this. Pattern is a chain of 24 chains and i'm gon na meet up with you once i have a total of 24 chains. Okay, i have a title of 24 chains and what we're going to do is we are going to slip stitch into the very first chain. So you want to glide your chain through your fingers to make sure that it has no twists in it and then into this very first chain. We are going to slip stitch into there like so, and we are going to join okay and now we are going to chain three one. Two and three, and this chain three does represent our first double crochet and into the next stitch. Okay, so right in there we're gon na go and then we're gon na place, another double crochet and into the next stitch, a double a double crochet, well, not into the stitch, but into the chain, okay into the next chain. There we go a double crochet, and that is the repeat, for this round is just placing one double crochet in every chain and i'm going to meet up with you. When i come to the end of this round, i now have 24 stitches, and now we are going to slip stitch to join, but i do not join into the chain three. I'M going to join you right on top into this very first stitch, just right in there. That is where i am going to join, and now i'm going to chain two one and two now this chain two represents our first double crochet. Normally a chain three represents a double crochet, but for this pattern every time we start a round we're going to start with a double crochet, but that double crochet is going to be a chain two and not a chain. Three and the reason for that is, we want to minimize our join and a chain. Three will just uh, make the joint a lot more eye-catching and unappealing okay. So we've now done a chain. Two and like i said our chain, two represents our first double crochet and we need to increase in this round. So this means every stitch needs to get two stitches. So we've just done our chain two, which is our double crochet and around that exact, same stitch. Right there we're going to go in with a front post, double crochet, okay, and that is just the repeat for this entire round. Here'S the next stitch in the top of the stitch we go in with a double and then around the stitch we go in with a front post. Double okay! Here is the next stitch. Let me just lift that up just my next stitch in the top of the stitch we double and then around that same stitch, we front post double, so every stitch gets two stitches. Let'S do that again in the top of the stitch we double okay and then around that same stitch. We front post double and at the end of this round, you should have a total of 48 stitches because we started with 24 stitches and because we are doubling up and giving each stitch two stitches we're going to have a total of 48 stitches. At the end of this round, so that's just into this stitch double and around that same stitch, front, post, double and i'm going to meet up with you once i come to the end of this round, so i am coming to the end of this round. I have one stitch left so into the top of the stitch i double and around that stitch. I front post double okay and now we're going to join and we don't join into our chain two, which one yeah right. On top into that very first stitch. We join in there and the reason why we're joining this, because we want to minimize uh the join okay, so just join the slip stitch just like so, okay and now what we just did now. We are just basically going to repeat so we are going to chain two one and two okay and our chain two represents our first double crochet and our double crochet lines up with the previous row, double crochet and then into the next stitch. Because you are not, we are not increasing here, we've done without increasing, so the next stitch is a front post double and you can see that it is raised. So around that stitch we just front post double the next stitch is a normal stitch and into it. We just place a normal double crochet and the stitch next to that is a front post and we just go ahead and replace the front post. The next stitch is a normal and we just give that a normal double crochet and the next stitch is a front post and we just go in with the front post. So all our front posts are going to line up and all our double crochets are going to line up. The only thing to remember here is that your um double crochet is sometimes just a little bit tucked away, but it is definitely this. You just want to give your work a bit of a stretch and you'll see there. It is there. So that's the only thing that you need to keep in mind is that that that double crochet tends to hide away behind the front post. So just give it a bit of a stretch and you will see it is there and then the next stitch is a front post and what's quite neat, you will see that our front post of the previous round just basically acts as our guide. So yes, a double crochet, we go in it with a double crochet and the next stitch is a front post and it's raised and it is our guide. So we know we need to go in there with a front post. So all the front posts are lining up perfectly and all the normal double crochets are lining up perfectly and you can see exactly where you need to place which stitch and - and that is all there is to this now, when you come to the end of this Round you are going to do your last front, post double crochet. You always end. You always end your last stitch with the front post double crochet, and then you join into the top of the stitch, and then you just chain two and you go on, but i am going to meet up with you once i come to the end of this Round so that we can just join together and start the new round together, i am coming to the end of this round and now i have one stitch left, which is the front post, so i'm just going to go around that stitch and i'm going to place My phone first and i'm going to join and i don't join into the top of the chain two. I join into the top stitch just right in there. I just go and i join and i'll chain two one and two, and this represents my first double crochet and the very next stitch is a front post and around the front post. I place a front post and into the normal double crochets, just a normal and around the front post to front post, and that is just the repeat for this round and for the next few rounds. I'M going to do a bunch of these rounds and then i am going to hop on here and let you guys know exactly how many rounds i did and then we can um just do that bit of a finishing edge to this and that's all there is To it so i'm going to meet up with you once i've done a bunch of rounds. Okay, so i have now done a bunch of rounds as you can see, and i have now in total 14 rounds that i've done and you just want to put this on and see if you are happy with the length and then what i'm going to do Is i am just going to do a round of single crochets, so i'm just going to chain one and into the next stitch, i'm just going to place a single and i'm just going to pop a stitch marker in there, so that i at least know where I started this round and we are going to do between three to four rounds of just a single crochets and that's all there is to it i'm just finishing this off with three to four rounds of single crochets. So when i come to the end of this round, i'm just going to slip stitch into the first stitch, i'm going to chain one and into the very next stitch, i'm just going to start single crocheting along and once i'm done with that drawing round. I'M just going to repeat that again, i'm going to slip stitch into the first stitch chain one and do a round of single crochets. So i am going to meet up with you once i'm done with a few rounds of single crochets. Hey guys - and this is the end of today's tutorial - thank you so much for joining me in today's tutorial, and i will see you guys in the next one. Bye
