Hi I'm T Cooper, I'm a New York City, makeup, artist, hairstylist and co-founder of beauty and grooming business Metro. Look today we're gon na talk about how to get a sleek shiny ponytail for black hair. This seems to be a common question that I get from my sisters: how to get a nice slick ponytail. There are several ways to go about it, but I'm just gon na show you one of my favorite ways. What I like to do is take a brush like so and just brush the hair back as smoothly and as tightly as I possibly can. But it also depends on what kind of ponytail you want. But if you want a nice slick, one without any volume, you just want to start brushing going back just so that you can gather the hair nice and easily and also when you use a brush with bristles like this, it makes your hair shiny. The more you brush your hair, the more shiny it makes your hair, but you want to make sure you brush gently, because african-american hair is prone to breakage, so don't brush rigorously rake through it just kind of smooth it back, and if you notice, you have any Little rough areas around the edges, a good way to help that out is with a flat iron. Mama loves her flat iron, so just take the flat iron and you just slick around slick, any of the edges around try to get as close to the scalp. As you possibly can without burning yourself, but if you have a ceramic then you should have a barrier right there. So you won't burn yourself but get all the edges. She wanted to look nice and smooth and repeat that process throughout the front of the hair. You can take some hair oil like this, just to add a little shine to the hair, rub it in your hand, the palm of your hand put together and work it. You don't want to over product your hair, that's why you want to distribute it evenly, but already you can see that high gloss that just came in just from putting a little bit of product on there. But then I like to go back in with my brush and just smooth it and brushing helps it. Make look, helps make a look even shinier. Can you see the difference? How much more shiny our hair looks already, then you determine how high or how low you want. Your ponytail I'm gon na go med right here then just gather the hair and secure it with the hair tie, and you just give it a little tug. If you have any areas like this, I kind of want to poke out you take a little bit of styling wax like so or pomade, whichever one you have, and then you just slick them up, and then you can either go back in with your brush or A small tool comb and just smooth it down and then you're all done, I'm tee Cooper and I just showed you how to get a shiny, slicked ponytail for black hair.
