How To Create A Tiered Ponytail (Stacked Ponytail)

The tiered ponytail looks complicated but if you can tie your hair into a ponytail, you will master this hairstyle in no time at all!

The tools and products required to create this look are minimal:

1. Sam Villa Textur Volumizing Iron (optional - to create thickness in your hair prior to creating your ponytail) - https://www.samvilla.com/products/iron...

2. Sam Villa Artist Series Finishing Brush (perfect for brushing back your hair into the perfect ponytail) - https://www.samvilla.com/products/brus...

3. Redken Braid Aid 03 (use this to coat your elastics to prevent damage to your hair)

4. A handful of hair elastics

We would love to see how you finish this look! Replicate this ponytail hairstyle and post it to Instagram along with #samvilla for a chance to be featured on our page!

Right little trick that works with layers. Yet I'm going to work with one length, but do it with layers because we're working ponytails to create a braid or tiered ponytail effect we're going to start in the side, temple area and we're simply going to take a section. We'Re going to bring this section right back and we're going to take another section on the opposite side. Same general area bring this back and now we're going to come through and we're going to place an elastic and, as we place these elastics you're going to place. The first one right in the center once we have that first ponytail placed in the center now we're going to grab a section from the left side, a vertical slice we're going to bring this section right over and the object is to cover up this elastic. So we cover up that elastic. We take a vertical slice on this side. Now we're going to place another ponytail, but when it place it to the right of Center, so we're going to reach for another elastic and, what's really cool guys is think about these elastics Cottam with braid 8:03 by Redken. It will coat the elastic. So it does not create such an indentation on the cuticle surface. Okay, now notice that ponytails to the right of Center, where you end up on the right, take a slice on the right, we're going to take this slice and we're simply going to come through, and we want to cover up that elastic. We step over to the opposite side, we're going to take another slice on the opposite side. Now, as we take a slice on the opposite side, remember the object is we want this slice to cover that elastic and this sets to the left of center? So, each time we're alternating it so you're creating a very interesting visual pattern. Licit come back through place, the elastic keep the elevation down low, so the ponytail sits more on a lower state easier to cover it so we're the less of Center we come through. We take another vertical slice. Remember the object of each slice we take. The first slice is to cover this elastic I've discovered by that ponytail down slightly. Then I come over it. I can cover it a lot easier step over the opposite side, take a vertical slice and now come through and once again think about to the right of Center. As we work down the head, it's going to get narrow. Why? That'S just because the shape of the head and the shape of the hair line, so it's wider up here and it works itself narrow. So, as you work down, it's going to get now we're to the right of center. Take another vertical slice. Remember the first slice. The object is to pull that ponytail down, bring it across and cover and step to the opposite side. Take another vertical slice. On the opposite side, we're going to place this to the left of center, remembering to alternate each time you place a ponytail in and once we have that one the left of center. So we continue on the left of center. Taking a slice, pull your ponytail down. Make sure that you're, covering up the elastic step to the opposite side and take a slice and now come through and elastic, now imagine this we could come through now and we could fishtail. We could continue down. You could leave it down, do whatever it is that you want to do in terms of that slide, that up just to cover that elastic and then from here you could fishtail that what I'd love to do, though, is just to loosen it up. You could come in come back up to where we started and loosen up what you start where you began so now. I need to come over here. Here'S that elastic, let's just loosen that up loosen that up just so. It has a little bit more softness. Look for the elastic here grab and just slightly pull on both go the left side. Where we see that left side there's the elastic reach inside grab both and pull out, and now you can see the interesting visual pattern that we've been able to create by simply going in and working with, ponytails and creating something a little bit different from here. It'S your creative choice in terms of what you want to create once again real simple hot tip with for you working with ponytails, to create an interesting visual pattern that somewhat looks like a braid. You
