Peace, Love, and God's Grace

Hey fam, it's your girl, 4c hair chick here in today's video, I'm gon na be sharing with you. My pony tail episode stay tuned for whatever reason I really wanted to wear my hair in a ponytail this weekend and it's not good. I haven't worn my hair in a ponytail since the only natural it's just that I always stretched my hair before I put it in a ponytail and this weekend I really just wanted to wear a ponytail so as a 4c hair chick wearing your hair and a Ponytail, without stretching it first probably isn't the best thing to do, but I also don't want to be totally bound by my hair. Every now and again, a girl wants to break the rules, so I scratched the itch guys I went ahead and did a ponytail in my hair without stretching it first. So I know some of you may be thinking well. Why do that? If you know what it can do to your hair, well, as I said earlier, I just wanted to wear my hair in a ponytail and I think as Naturals you know we definitely all try to keep it positive. We talk about all the things you can do. It with your hair and how you can shape and do different styles in your hair, but there are some styles that I don't do in my hair, because I just can't do them in my hair without consequences and every now and again I just want to wear My hair, how I want to wear my hair, regardless of the consequences, so I didn't go into this blindly. I went in kind of knowing that I was going to have some issues after wearing this style, but I just wanted to wear the style, so I did to start. I added a ton of conditioner to my hair. Conditioner helps my hair to clump. It makes it slick it's easier to manipulate my hair when conditioners in it. So I went all in. I prefer bangs whenever I wear a style so underneath the running water, I went through and pulled out a section, it's good to do this under running water because you have less tingling. I used the flow of the water to help me flip. My hair back into the ponytail and then I was as careful as possible when I put in the ponytail holder, trying really hard not to break any of my hair. Once my hair was secured. I came through with conditioner through my ponytail and also through my front bangs in order to get the curls to clump. Together, I to stir and twisted my front bangs. That way, I could prevent tingling and also so that I could get my bangs to lay in the direction I wanted them to fall. I knew this would happen. I created some knots in the process, and so I had to cut off a couple of my curls. Water is really deceiving in the shower with the water. In my hair, everything looked really well slicked down, but I knew as soon as I got out. It was gon na start to dry, puff and shrink, so I put some eco styler gel in to hold it down. This is the final look guys now it all comes down to the morning-after. What is this gon na look like in the morning if your girl, 4c hair check here? Thank you so much for tuning into today's video. I will catch you on the next video make sure you come back and you check out the morning after the ponytail tech. These soon guys, I am afro

Dr. Michelle Daf: Very cute!!! Sometimes you just have to try certain styles out and deal with the consequences later

4c Hair Chick: Thank you! I was definitely no style queen when I had relaxed hair. I stayed over at my girlfriends house. I dunno how but she forever was coming up with creative hair styles. It's easier for me to style my natural hair, but it takes me a long time.

4c Hair Chick: And you are killin' the flat iron look! Thank you! The never ending quest to spice up the hair dos continue.

4c Hair Chick: You've been staying strong with the challenge. I'll be checking for your styles. I can't seem to rock the same thing for too long without getting bored.

4c Hair Chick: I feel you! Gotta do you and what makes you happy.

Shenette: Girl, two weeks ago I purposefully did my hair on a Saturday with the intention on recording my entire process from DC to style. However, my husband misplaced the camera and I couldn't record it :-( And I can't record the whole process using my phone. So, I might go out and buy another inexpensive camera in order to record. I have been considering it because a few people have been asking me when I am going to do the video on my process. So hopefully I will have it up in the next few weeks.

UTubeuzername: Wow, I think you hair came out really cute! I wear hairstyles that are not optimal for growth but I don't care because I am happy with my current length. No point in being natural if you can't enjoy the versatility and are constantly stressing about growth and protective styling, in my opinion.

4c Hair Chick: I can understand. Detangling is my least favorite part of being natural.

4c Hair Chick: Thank you! Taking this down turned out to be a nightmare. But it was cute the day of. I think I let it get too dry. I was out in the sun at the ATL jazz festival so it shriveled up in the sun by the time I added more moisture it was too late.

Mimi C: You are braver than me! I'm a mix of 4 a/b/c and just thinking of doing something on unstretched hair makes my eyes fill with tears. it's not even because of the breakage it might cause but for the extra work i'll have to do come the next wash!

sunyd27: I like that. I never thought to do a pony tail in the shower. That makes it so much easier. I just wore a side puff for two days, despite the damage to my edges. I just wanted that look!

4c Hair Chick: Yes you've mastered the Wash N Go I watched your vids on it. Your Day 7 looked fine! I haven't been able to get my hair to lay right with a wng. I couldn't agree more on the protective styling some days I just don't feel up to it. I'm waiting on a new vid from you btw. You got some coming up or is this an extended break?

VeePeeJay: Lol..I really enjoyed this vid. Girl yes! Sometimes you gotta through all the rules out the window and do what wanna do. Cute style :)

Love, Lale: Unconventional things… I like them! I've done this sort of thing a number of times i.e. washing uncombed hair, or putting washed hair in a bun without combing first, wasn't fun later, but whatever, I am not to be tied down by hair! lol

Xo. cottonTOP: Girl I hear ya!!!! When I'm running late I always do my 4chair in the shower lol! Thumbs up!

4c Hair Chick: Thank you! Yea I had to cut the chains I put on myself, however I did pay for it during the detangling :( Aw well can't be perfect all the time, lol.

MsPaulD: It turned out cute! Love the way you wrapped the scarf on your hair

I Am RallyGirl™: I can't wait til 6/16 after the growth challenge so I'm back to wearing just my hair. I've never worn other people's hair so much in my life. LOL Anyway, I'll be out there wearing styles I shouldn't wear...the trick for me is to water it up before manipulating, condition, moisten, and go. As long as I have my water I'm okay.

Tracey Scott: I love ponytails when my wash n go gets old.  Teressential mud wash is awesome and perfect to use after having a ponytail/puff.  You can finger detangle your hair with this mud wash plus it clarifies your hair of all product build up.  Just a suggestion.

Gairuntee: I never do damage to my 4b/c hair through styling because I am perfect in every way. Ahem.

Lucinda Kent: Every once and a while....being a 4c chick I understand that when I make that choice I am going to have issues with knots and tangles.

Acha Racha: Styling your hair under running water!!!? Ive never seen that before, this is the height of creativity girl!

4c Hair Chick: unfortunately, I wasn't able to fully escape the hot mess part. But it was nice to wear my hair differently. I think if I hadn't let it get all the way dry I would have had so many tangles the next day.

4c Hair Chick: you were right. My ponytail was THIRSTY! Lol, lawd the detangling session was no joke. But at least it was cute :)

Ebony Williams®: your hair looked so cute. can't wait to see what it looked the next day.

kim bethune: I was trying to see how you did the scarf lol it looks great for me being natural is firstly being realistic about my hairs potential .ams I love that I care less about lenght heck I'm like you if I want a pony tail then I'll wear one shrinkage or not ..I'm glad you shared this method it look far less painfull. So so you're beautiful and creative and many more things

redvelvet237: I was wondering how your hair turned out when you took out your ponytail. Have you tried Aunt Jackie's Knot on My Watch. It is the bomb for our 4c hair!!! The slip is INCREDIBLE!

I Am RallyGirl™: I always get knots; to me, curl is a glorified knot. Like you, I clip it & go; your hair will still be just fine. : ) My hair seems 1 way in the shower then it comes to its logical conclusion when I get out. Your pony will need water spritzing and finger manipulating the next day. When I'm not in Growth Challenge mode, I wear styles that I probably shouldn't, but it's never a real issue. As long as I stay on top of moisturizing it's all good. As naturals we tend to box ourselves in.

nappilyevaafta: Once in a blue moon I do ROCK hairstyles that arn't optimal for hair growth, as a matter a fact im rocking one right now! I enjoyed it so much, but its about time i get back to the regular way of things ( BORING) lol Thanks so much for sharing. You look BEAUTIFUL rocking your hair style. I just love it!

Zoe Jeneth: YESSS, wearing my hair out is NOT a good idea for my 4a/b/c hair. but I do!!! this week I've been wearing my hair out for past 3 days. and I cant help touching it and twirling it and fluffing it up. and this of course leads to breakage, split ends. I KNOW my hair grows best when it is tucked away and not manipulated. but I just love my big hair!!!

4c Hair Chick: Lol, Me neither. My hair is just my hair. I love it, but it's only one of the many parts of me. So what part annoyed you? That wasn't the intent just sharing my journey. Are there times when you get tired of protective styling?

4c Hair Chick: Happy to help. Thank you!

Quietstorm91: Great idea and really cute! Thank you!

4c Hair Chick: Ponytails can stress your edges and cause breakage and they tend to cause tangling. But eveyone's hair is different so it just depends. Puffs are very cute though so I don't blame you:)

4c Hair Chick: I need to get on your level. I want to do that, but I always end up wanting to remixx my hair.

4c Hair Chick: Could be. I had a gang of conditioner and I pre'pooed so that could be the reason the curls look definied, but I've been told by hair stylists that no one has just one type of hair. So who knows :)

4c Hair Chick: thank you! Do you run into any issues when you take it down?

Blesslady 50: I've been rocking my ponytail for almost a week now. The pony part is a tight curly Pom Pom. But I like your video all the same

Sun and Sunflowers: That was awesome styling your hair in shower. How did you twist the scarf around your pinytail?

Linda Maxwell: That was brilliant!....I'll try that later on in my hair journey...way later:)

4c Hair Chick: thank you! can't wait to here about this NYC trip!

TreasureChest0806: Wearing my hair out in a puff without twisting makes it tangled but sometimes I do it anyway...

4c Hair Chick: cosign! Yes, I really feel you on that. Yea I had to throw caution to the wind.

Spiritual Peac3: Your hair totally looks like it grew a bit!

DrGirlfriendPHD: I loved how u rocked it with the scarf. And that bright blue looks really good on u! I'm scared of what ur hair is gonna be like the next day though. Tangle City!

4c Hair Chick: exactly my plight! I just had to do it.

4c Hair Chick: agreed! Protective styles all the time sometimes get me a little bored.

CherokeeBella🪶: Ur so cool, I love all of ur tips. Even tho my hair is 3c I always benefit!

curliefro: Except for using occasional blow dryer, direct heat and a wash and go are two things I have not been eager to try. I think the hair you cut was likely shed hair that came out; that happens when I co wash my hair.

ㄹㅅㄹ: 4c hair is so beautiful in it's natural state.

4c Hair Chick: yes! It was straight tangle city. I should have never slept on it with out twisting it. Smh, so strands were not salvagable :( lol but hey it was cool while it lasted.

April Janelle: For what it's worth... it looks really cute :)

Wildfire: I predict you will be the next hair guru and poster woman for 4c hair in the years to come!

Sydney Johns: Yes I Sometimes Wear Styles That Are Not Best For Hairstyles Because If I Did I Would Be "Protective Styling" All The Time & That's No Fun.

4c Hair Chick: yea!! I think it has, but I'm not sure how much longer it's gotten. I due for a trim in a few weeks so I'll have to snap some shots of it blown out.

Living My Lex Life: Ya, sometimes... Well a lot of the time, l wash my hair and not detangle at all after! So when I finally do build up the courage to detangle, it's a matted hot mess

Naturally Breezy: What a great method for minimal breakage

Shenette: Oh btw. I only wear wash n gos. I know everyone says they are horrible for retaining length and that one should wear protective styles. Protective styles are too much work for me LOL. But I have been experiencing great length retention with taking care of my hair properly. So go for it! You have to have fun with your hair too. Not always be about growth and retention. :-)

4c Hair Chick: fear of breakage. My edges tend to be delicate so I usually don't touch them much.

Journeytaker101: It is soo cute! I think this style is not optimal for hair growth ONLY if this is a regular style. I say go with it! You take very good care of your tresses, and I think a splurge is always in order! EJOY!

joneslr25: No, Sooooo not worth the hassle & hair loss. I K.I.S.S. & protective style, my life isn't centered around my natural hair. This video had me kinda annoyed.

Rume Ameke: Very nice, don't see why you can't rock your hair the way you want to from time to time

TheChocBeauty: What a great idea. Yes I have done hairstyles that are not healthy for my hair. I've done some wng's with gel, just trying to get outbid the door do I can get to work n look half way decent. That night I would have a mess on my hands. Lol

4c Hair Chick: lol, I FEEL you :)

4c Hair Chick: so true! And the knots came :(

shequira smith: i love 4 c hair, i know its bad to wish you had a different hair type and all that but, i want some 4 c curls,,lolol great video!

4c Hair Chick: thank you! it's worth a lot:)

Blesslady 50: yes i'll be taking it down today ugh but i love my poneytail.

4c Hair Chick: Thanks sis!

Laterese Rose: i break the rules all the time and just deal but i have not had any heartbreak knock on wood lol...but ya hair was so cute

RCIYAH: LOL, you crack me up. I liked it though , but you scared me...you saying ponytails slowers hair growth for our kind of hair???!!! :( (*whispers* ponytails and puffs is my signature O_O!) lol

Mo Wo: 2nd or 3rd day twist out without retwisting at night. Dry tangled mess.

Mony E: Gorgeous!

4c Hair Chick: You know what good point. Everything in moderation. cosignage!

Ashlee: Cool style..can you show how you tied scarf?

4c Hair Chick: thank you!

hear fan: Sorry, that's just tooooooo much work for a pony tail. lol

4c Hair Chick: thank you!

pamrosina: It's so cute though!

reallyme02: Cute style.

Lisa Seki: What was the point of the scarf? I think it would've looked way better without the scarf

4c Hair Chick: thanks Val!

Mzpretty3284: Why didnt you brush the edges to slick them down ???

tanesha205: Cute!

Ms.Catalina: Cute : )

4c Hair Chick: wash n gos lol tricky business for 4 type hair women.
