The Sleekest "Low Ponytail/Sleek Bun" Tutorial For Type 4 Natural Hair | Best Method Ever!

Hey guys Stephanie here welcome or welcome back to my channel and for today's video guys, I'm coming to you with another hair tutorial, and this is actually one of my favorite protective hairstyles and I'm talking about the classic sleek low ponytail. This is by far one of my favorite protective hairstyles to do, and I've actually filmed one or two tutorials on this on my channel ready, but I just kind of switched up my routine a little bit. I could get more of a sleeker look. So that's what I'm gon na be showing you guys here today. So not only is this hairstyle cute, obviously, but it's quick and simple to do and something like this is very versatile. You could dress it up or dress it down. This is just a really classic. So I washed my hair the night before applied my leave-in and everything and just fold them up and twist and guys I'm telling you right now the shrinkage is real, like I don't know about you guys, but my natural hair, just it really really shrinks up, but Nonetheless, my hair actually feels really really moisturized right now, and that is a very important tip guys if you want to achieve a sleek ponytail, make sure that your hair is long moisturize before you apply any additional product. So I don't have the pot up on hand right now, but after I was done watching my hair, I followed up with my can to leaving conditioner and I just applied a little bit of sweet almond oil and that left my hair feeling really really moisturized. So make sure guys that you moisturize your hair prior to styling super important. You do not want to miss this stuff, alright y'all, so I'm not to go in and just sit back, relax and enjoy the hair tutorial, alright guys. So before I even begin to style. My hair, I'm just gon na, take a towel and just wrap it around my neck, because I just got this shirt and I don't want to mess it up. So whenever I do this ponytail hairstyle, I always like to work with my hair in sections. This is the best way and the best technique to style the hair, so that you could assure you have that sleek and neat finish so starting off with the back section. I just untwist my hair, as you can see, and I'm just detangling it with a wide tooth comb and next I'm just gon na take my spray bottle of water, and this actually have warm water in it. Guys not cold, and I was just especially if you have low porosity, hair. Okay. This is really gon na help to loosen up the curls and allow for the product to better absorb into your hair and how, as you guys, can see, I'm just spraying the water along the base of my hair just enough to dampen my hair and I'm not Really spraying it along the ends because we're not gon na really be working with that area. I don't know about y'all, but whenever I use cold water, my hair just shriveled up like a prune, so yeah very important to use warm water. So for my gels today, I'm actually gon na be using two. The first one I'm gon na start off with is my extreme wet line gel and I'm gon na use a lot of this stuff guys to slick the hair down and bring out that curl definition and how'd. You guys can see I'm first gon na start off with my Denman brush to really get rid of all the knots and tangles and get the hair nice and smooth and after that, I'm gon na switch over to my boar bristle brush and a further smooth the Hair out next, I'm going to follow up with my god to be. Do gel and pretty much do the same thing applied on the base of the hair and use my two brushes to smooth out the hair. Now I personally really really love this combo between my experiment on gel and my god speed glue gel. I don't know whenever I use these two together. It really helps to tame my natural hair and give me that sleek finish that I want and don't forget about the kitchen part. Ladies, you want to make sure that that area is slicked down and it's tame as well. Alright, so now that we're done with this section, I'm just gon na take a hair tie and tie the hair out the way and that's pretty much all I'm gon na continue to do guys. So I'm just gon na work on the other two sections in the front so for this hairstyle I'm gon na do a side part I pretty much Rock the side part like 90 % of the time. That'S just my personal preference. I love how the five part looks. It also looks very classic and yeah. That'S my personal favorite so, like I mentioned, I'm just gon na continue to apply the same products and use the same technique, and I know this part may seem a little tedious. But if you want to assure that you get that nice slick down finish, you have to take your time and apply the products brush a thousand times so that you can make sure to get rid of all the knots and tangles. This is really gon na help to tame the hair down, like I said so, just continue to watch how I work the rest of the sections all right so now that I'm done with all of the sections I'm just gon na take my boar, bristle brush and Just once again brush through the base of the hair, one more time to make sure that everything is nice and smooth. It is looking OnPoint so far and guys don't be alarmed by the white residue. As my hair dries and settle in the whiteness is going to go away and this part is optional, of course, but you already know, I've got ta have a little bit of baby hairs in the front, so I'm just gon na use my baby hair edge brush To create and shape my baby hairs to my liking. So now that I've got my natural hair settled, it is finally time to reveal the star of the show and I'm talking about my drawstring ponytail from curls curls, and I picked this up in 18 inches and in the curly kinky curly texture. I'M sorry and this resembles 3c flash for a hair texture. So when it comes to installing a ponytail, you have your top and bottom clip, including the drawstring where you could secure and tighten your ponytail around your bun so to install the hair, it's pretty much self-explanatory. It'S very easy to install - and before I forget to mention - please do not, I repeat, do not install the ponytail straight out of the package, make sure that you wash and condition the ponytail. This is gon na help to loosen up the curls and just make it look better and give it more of a natural look. So once I've secured the ponytail onto my bond, I'm just gon na attach a bobby pin to my drawstring and wrap that drawstring around the ponytail part and secure it down and just to make the ponytail look a little bit more natural. I'M just gon na take a little piece of hair from the ponytail and just wrap it around and pin it with a bobby pin, so that you could cover any tracks or anything that may be seeping through and to further secure that piece of hair. I'M just gon na take my got to be glued, freeze, blast, pray and just braid over that area. Alright, we are almost done. I promise y'all, but I just got two more products. I'M first gon na take my Cantu hair slick oil and apply onto the hair and follow up with my no Robie setting lotion to set the hair in place. Listen they're the levels to this. Okay! If you want that nice sleek, look, if you want your ponytail to look right there, you just gon na, have to take these extra steps. Girls, like I, don't know what else to tell you sis, but I could assure you this is hands-down one of my best methods ever when it comes to achieving this low ponytail hairstyle. I really love the finish and the outcome of you know the combination of the products and my technique. It just really works for my natural hair, so just try it out yourself and see if it works for you as well. Alright, so we are done at this time has y'all can see. I just took my headscarf and I just wrapped around the ponytail and I'm gon na - take a little bit of mine or Obi setting lotion and apply it to the ponytail, and that is it guys. Alright guys so we are done with the hairstyle now I just tied the scarf around, because I want to set the hair. This step is very, very important if you want to achieve that. Sleek finish, and this is gon na help for all the gel. All the pucks that I put in to settle, and if you have time guys I would let it sit and set for as long as eight hour, guys cuz. It'S really gon na help to prevent a frizzing and to get that curl definition in that sleek finish. So I am starving right now: I'm gon na go grab something to eat and I'll be back in an hour. Our guy thought I'm back my belly's full. It'S been about an hour and a half and my hair should be set in by now. So we're just gon na remove the scarf and reveal the sleek look yeah. We got the hair slicked down the waves. Looking right, we just swimmin by far my favorite hairstyle ever and surprisingly, my hair. It feels really soft. It does not feel hard at all, and I know it might be hard for some of you guys to believe, despite the fact that I used eight ton of gel yeah, my hair feels really really soft does not feel hard or crunchy at all, but guys, like. I said I love, love, love, this look and if you wish to create more of a formal look, you could definitely do so by simply turning your ponytail into a low bun. All you have to do guys is just take your ponytail portion twist. The hair and wrap it around until you form your bun and once you have it to your liking, you just want to take a couple of bobby pins and secure the bun down, and that is pretty much it guys, quick and easy. You could jazz up your ponytail in a matter of seconds guys, I'm telling you right now, if you're looking for a quick and easy protective hairstyle that you could literally achieve in a matter of minutes, get yourself a drawstring ponytail, okay, you will not regret it.
