Redken Braid Aid 03 - Great for coating your hair elastic before placing in the hair to protect the cuticle and prevent damage.

Hi, my friend Sam, via Redken, global artistic ambassador. Today I want to talk about elastics of just simple ponytails. Sometimes the most simple thing can require time watch what I'm talking about. Let'S just take a section on the side area and, let's just say, you're gon na put a ponytail. This is great for you, colorist that are putting little ponytails and you're using elastics to isolate a section for color. So let's say we're gon na isolate a small section here: okay, now look how small that section is, and I'm gon na place this into a small elastic. Have you ever done this? Where you place your elastic in and now you go through you twist it and you loop it back in. You got a twist again and you lose it and you got a twist again and put it back in and you keep twisting and putting it back in that requires time, and then you find out it's too loose so watch what we're gon na do to go In and create a small ponytail, what you want to do is do exactly what you did, but what we're gon na recommend is that you use braids 8:03 to buffer and coat this elastic, and the reason being is basically is we want to buffer that cuticle? Sometimes the elastic could be a little abrasive on your cuticle and you get these marks so just help to protect just buffer it with elastic now go in and place your lasted, so we go in, we place the elastic and now normally you would go in and You would loop just like we did this one, but what we're gon na do is all we want you to do is twist twist twist twist, so you just keep twisting the elastic as you twist. The elastic now come in place, the elastic in and now look how tight we've been able to get the elastic in a short period of time. So rather than looping. The twist loop and twist loop and twist twist twist twist twist twist, then apply your elastic Sam via here with some hair hacks that are gon na save you time working in the salon. Thanks for watching you

Nazzy: Not only girls watch this. I’m a guy and I starting doing my own braids

Melissa W: Yes. More hair hacks, please. My girls hate sitting through the endless rubber bands looping. This is, hopefully, going to make things easier.

Bombshell1126: She looked like she was going to cry with that first one. Looked painful lol

Jo Momz: I don't like you method for 2 reasons: [1] continuously twisting an elastic can cause it to loop and catch 2 or 3 hairs into the loop that will break or get pulled out when you remove the elastic. [2] If you wrap the elastic 1 inch away from the scalp and separate and use the hair to tighten the elastic to the scalp it causes uneven pressure on the scalp causing discomfort and possible breakage and also roughs up the cuticle where the elastic was moved against the grain. If you can twist the elastic from both sides ambidextrously it's fast and you can control how close the the scalp the elastic gets placed. This method also allows you to angle the ponytail to how you'd like it to lay.

Yard Name: If you have anything other than reallllly coarse and thick hair, and especially with this type of elastic, this is a sure-fire way to break your hair off right at the placement.
