How To Put Your Hair In A Pony Tail With One Hand Or Arm.Mp4

Hi, one of the things I get asked most about is how I put my hair in a ponytail or up in a clip. I run a lot and I play tennis, I'm very active, so it helps to be able to get my hair out of my face. This is a harder skill to learn to do. It does take some patience and there, but there are a few tricks. I can tell you about, as your hand gets stronger and you get better at doing things with one arm. It gets easier and easier. So at first I'm going to show you how to put your hair into a ponytail. I just have a regular ponytail elastic and I've heard my hair is already dry and styled so you're, going to lean all the way back and you're going to try and grab all of your hair in one hand, I have the elastic on my hand already just Past my middle knuckles, I don't want it to go all the way onto my hand, because I'm going to need to take it off easily, so lean back, get all of your hair grab. It all with one hand I'm going to turn around so you can see. I have the elastic on my hand and I'm going to stretch my hand all the way around I'm going to use my right shoulder and put it up near my ear to help me grab all of the hair. Okay, have all of my hair in one hand, and I have the elastic on my hand. Now, I'm going to wiggle my pinky and then my other fingers through the elastic holding on to the hair and let the elastic slip off my fingers. I have the elastic in my first finger at the end and I pulled all the hair through so now the hair is still in the elastic I'm reaching in with my ring finger to the elastic to hold it tight and I'm pushing a hair against my head Towards the left, so I have my thumb. My first two fingers on the hair pushing the ponytail to the left and I'm pulling with my the elastic with my ring finger to the right. So it's nice and tight. Now I'm going to lean into the door right here and I'm going to lean up against the doorway with the hair and that's going to hold my hair in place, will a twist the elastic and go back around again pull the hair out again I go around Three times put the hair in hold it against the doorway, pull the elastic out now to tighten. I just grab my hair and I push the elastic closer to my head and you just kind of shift it around until your hair is in a ponytail, I'm going to show you again a little faster and try to give you some more tips. Okay, so again, you're going to lean back getting all of your hair in one hand, is probably the most difficult thing right now. Sometimes what I do, what I used to do was use barrettes to pull the hair back, and I would clip my hair back. So it was easier to grab so again, I have all my hair one hand. The ring finger is the first one to go through the elastic and using the door. Jamb or a wall to hold the hair is key. While you tighten the elastic okay, if you have any pieces that are flying all over the place or a little bump bobby pins are very useful to kind of tack those down okay. So now I'm going to show you how to put your hair into a clip again, it's just a regular everyday clip, I'm going to start with it in my mouth, because you need to be able to grab onto it quickly. It'S the same motion with the ponytail or the same idea, all right, so first you're going to grab all of your hair in one hand: okay and I'm going to reach around with my middle finger and I'm going to twist the hair up. Just like that again, I'm going to lean against the wall reach around grab the clip I'm going to hold the top of the twist with my pinky and clip my hair in place. Almost always, I use bobby pins to finish this because there's always a piece that is falling down and you can just tuck it back in and hide it and you're ready to go.

Mika FM: I dislocated my dominant arm yesterday and need to put my hair up with just my weaker hand and this was so incredibly helpful thank you so much

Anjela Kizi: I had a stoke 8 years ago. I can’t use my right hand/arm. I’m so inspired by this video. I thought it was impossible! You really changed my life and outlook on things. Thanks you I’m going to practice.

campingmama: You have changed my life!!  Lost the use of my right arm years ago in a car accident and one of the "little" things that really frustrates me is putting in a ponytail!  I've always had my kids or hubby do it for me, but in 2 years, my youngest will leave the nest!  Not to mention, they aren't always home when I get a hot flash, LOL! I cannot wait to try this!

Angela Loberg: Thank you so much! I'm a hairstylist and my client only has use of one hand. She is growing her hair out and was sad because she couldn't put it in a ponytail so as she was processing I looked this video up and showed it to her. She is very excited to go home and try it! Thank you again for sharing this

Nancy Milstone: That is truly cool to watch! I was searching for how to tie my shoes with one hand, as I’m having surgery so I won’t be able to use my right hand for a few weeks, but was mesmerized watching you do this. It was a very good tutorial, and I’m imagining quite useful for a lot of people! Thank you very much!

Lill Nermoen-Hanssen: Ingenious!!! And a great tutorial. Just had a surgery in my one armpit, so I can't lift my right arm for two weeks. My husband was of no use, no worries, now I can get my up in a bun! ;) Thank you!

Teddy Valinski: Hi, I'm a student at the University of Pittsburgh. As part of a project, we are looking to improve the process of putting hair up one-handedly. It's a very fast moving class, but we were wondering if we could talk to you a bit more about putting up hair. It'd also be great if you could test out our idea and let us know what you think. Essentially, if you take a piece of string folder it in half, wrap it around your neck and slide the loose ends through the folded end, slide the loop over your head and pull it and cinch it to bring your hair into a ponytail. We haven't figured out how to secure it yet, but we wanted your thoughts on how it works for bringing the hair up. Thanks in advance, Teddy

Bean: I understand that this is old but I really love this video! I was born with one arm and I've always wanted my hair up and all I can do is have it on the side but as soon as I saw this, it helped. I was frustrated at first and wanted to give up but I didn't, my friends like thst I tried ^-^

Jennifer Moses: I've had a stroke and I love finding these kinds of videos to see ways to do things on my own i love it! Thank you so much I'd never of thought of this so thank you!!!

M PB: I find it so amazing that you can actually do it just by one hand. I had a a stroke for 11 yrs now that i immediately do a bob cut once my hair gets long. Im not yet sure if i'll be able to do it but i know that persistency & lots of practice will pay off. Wish me luck!! Thanks for sharing this...it made my self-esteem a little bit higher.

Stephenie Hallowell: Thank you for this video!! My sister recently lost her left arm in an accident so I'm trying to learn how to do things with one arm to help her out. As silly as it may seem to others this was a big worry for her. She's always been very into makeup, hair, fashion etc. Lol Thank you again I'm going to practice this until I get it.

Britnie Leverett: I just had major shoulder surgery and I cannot use or lift my arm at all. This helped me so much. I just tried it today. It's not perfect but with practice I'm sure it will look as nice as yours. I wish I could add a picture to show you how mine turned out. I'm just happy to get it up since its 106F outside. Thank you again!

Mavis McMuffin: Thank you so much for this video! First of all you are SO gorgeous, second I just cut two two tendons in my hand and I live in florida so you just saved my life. Alicia 🦋: Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for posting this video! You honestly have no idea what this means to me. I have an autoimmune condition that limited the function and mobility of my elbows. I always wanted my hair to be long, but I couldn't put my hair in a ponytail any longer, so I always cut it to a short length to avoid assistance of family and help of putting my hair into a ponytail on a hot day, but after watching this video, it has indeed brought me joy. You are indeed a blessing! I will try as soon as I get home.

Karen Beatty: I had a stroke three years ago and my left arm is paralyzed so I'm living life with one arm too. I recently decided to let my hair grow out after keeping it short for easier maintenance. I've been searching YouTube for a manageable way to put my way in a ponytail and I'm pretty sure I just found it. Thanks so much!

Lainie Lapis: I am blown away with your seat for life given your challenges. I cried for 1 hour b/c I couldn't complete dressing after a shower. I broke my shoulder and it's still painful. I will use your inspirational video to keep trudging forward. Thank you!

Patricia Thomazo: oh my god, my world is going to change ! 10 years of frustration, I thought I could never do a ponnytail or bun with one hand ! tomorrow first thing, i'm going to buy a new elastic , thank you so much !!! :-)

Swearie Faerie: I've never been able to master this exact method, though I've tried. What I can do, though, is twist my hair tightly until it goes into a bun, and I lean up against the wall or a tall chair to twist the hair tie, which I hold in my mouth until I get my hair where I need it. The problem with that, though, is bumpies. But if you don't need to look professional, it works. :)

I lost my right arm when I was 16 in a farming accident, my arm is very short it only reaches to a place just above the middle of my boob, so it doesn't reach high enough to help me do my hair. I was very impressed that how you do your hair, having no arm at all on your left side, so now I have the incentive to try a new way to do my hair. I never give up learning how to do things with my hand and my short nub. I love your videos, keep on making new ones.

Katlynn S: I fractured my radius in my dominant hand (right) and sprang my left hand. Very slowly gaining back strength in it. Right now my hair is braided but it will have to come down soon. I had a stroke when I was 3 years old and have been partially paralyzed since. I would always get so irritated when I couldn't do cute updos myself.
