What Pregnancy Did To My Type 4 Natural Hair! | Postpartum Hair Update 2022 | The Curly Closet

Hello loves: this is going to be a hair update, in particular updating you guys on my hair after pregnancy, growth hormones are real, very real. This is mary from the kylie closet. If this is your first time visiting my channel welcome if you return to my channel welcome back, i had my baby three months ago now. I can't believe he's already three months old. I just decided that since my hair's out today, i've just literally rinsed out conditioner out of my hair that i should come to you guys and just let you see the state of my hair and to let you know a bit of a hair update. Um. Excuse me for, like the wet hoodie put this on very quickly so yeah, my hair really is just out of the shower. Sorry, if you hear little noises in the background, but it's the baby monitor. I have it down here, i'm just gon na play with it. A little so you can kind of see like what the shape the thickness etc is saying right now. Let me just turn around so you can see the back. My curls are not exactly popping, as they really should be, because i think i left my condition on just a little bit too long. This is what happens when you have a baby. Sometimes you have to like prolong a process. The fullness is on ten. It has grown a lot and it's also gained in thickness a lot, especially during, like the last part of my pregnancy. I think the last time that i showed you guys my hair. It was in twists and it was wet. This is the first time in a while i've actually washed my hair out of twists and because my hair is getting a bit tangled after like two or three times of like washing your hair and twists and then retwisting. There just comes a point at which you just have to just take everything out: detangle everything take our little shed, hair everything and then just roll with it. Anyway, we have some like more hang time in the back than we used to have. If i pull it down a bit more on this side, you can kind of see stuff like my hair is now like. It is basically from what i can tell like full bra, strap length. Now brass strap is usually about here. I think i'm actually almost approaching waist length which, for me, is shocking, i'm very happy about that progress. The length has definitely come in. It'S definitely grown part of that is pregnancy hormones, but i think part of that is also during. Like the last part of my pregnancy, i was just too tired to do hair. The byproduct of that is my hair, always gains in thickness and length when i just basically style it and leave it alone. I'M gon na use the term leave it alone very loosely here. At some points i really wasn't caring for my hair, but one thing i did do consistently when i did wear my hair interests was whenever i would retwist. I would give my hair a trim that helped to keep the dead ends off of my hair, because, to be honest, i feel like i gained a lot of dead ends. I'M personally quite surprised as to how much my hair has grown, how much hair i've actually called during my pregnancy, like i really didn't mind too much about losing the length, because some of my ends were really really bad. Growth hormones are real, very real. It'S still a nice shape. I think it's just super thick. Another thing i am very happy with is the progress i've made in my problem area. I had still kind of have a problem area which is like about here, my head. Essentially, it's just an area that sometimes i find it hard to moisturize. That area always seems to get kind of like abandoned, left behind forgotten about where i just miss it, and i didn't realize, while my hair wasn't twisted, i really did try paid special attention to that area and i feel like it's paid off, because i can see A massive improvement in like the length and condition my hair coils up a lot more there. It needs a lot more tlc. Generally, my hair has gone back to its original color, which is actually a dark brown color. I think you can see it in this light. I haven't dyed my hair since how many how long has it been now, i don't even know and i'm seeing the benefits of it, because i'm getting a lot more thickness back and some length as well. One random question that probably somebody probably would ask: does my son have the same color hair as me? Yes, he does. His hair is dark brown. Just like mine, random fact of the day. I did make a video a while back about not doing washing goes anymore. I'Ve pretty much stuck to that, the only what should i think i've done. I think when i was about maybe seven months pregnant, maybe and that's the first washing guy i've done in ages and honestly, it turned out okay. But i kind of regretted it because i forgot how long more sugars take me in general and then my hair got thicker so wash and go took way longer than i would did it to you. And it was a lot of stress trying to get it done in time and get to the party that i was going to apart from that, i pretty much have not done wash and go's for ages in terms of postpartum shedding. I haven't had any yet i'm not necessarily expecting it, but i am prepared for it. If it does happen, my undercut has grown out significantly. I don't really have any plans to redo it, but who knows, i might decide to redo at some point, because you know me now. I do have very slight thin in here, but that is not postponed shedding. I did a hairstyle just after my sun was born, which really pulled on my hairs over here, and i think i lost some in the process. But it's like to me: it's not that deep. I can come closer. Hopefully, yes, baby hair is still intact over here. A few baby hairs lost, but we're doing all right, we're okay, so plans for my natural hair going forward. I want to start experimenting more with protective styles. I am planning to alternate between hairstyles, where i just use my actual natural, hair and hairstyles, where i add in extensions uh senegalese twists, maybe some novelist braids.
