Hey loves, is your girl rachel here, so in honor of black history month. I'M serving you this very much ethiopian, inspired, nubian princess, look delivered to you with love from your ancestors, so stay tuned. So what you'll need for this look is your stretch, natural hair, a one-two punch for european beauty standards because they're not welcome anywhere near your black skin or hair. So the two products that i'll be featuring in this video is curls blueberry and curl hair milk that i got for 7.99 when it retails for 14.99. A win. The other product is the main choice. The alpha biotin infused styling gel it's bomb.com and i'll, show you in this video another product that i will be using is my eco styler crystal gel and another product that i can't really find right now, but will be listed at the end of the video. So let's get parted, so i got my good old, faithful, knitting needle just to make a part down the center for that middle braid. So as i'm struggling to get these two parts straight, let me tell you the story behind this hairstyle so about two birthdays ago. I did my hair just like this, and i put a picture up on instagram and one of my ethiopian male friends was, like you know, that's an ethiopian hairstyle right. I was like what and he showed me pictures of beautiful ethiopian women and their hair braided in the front and having the back super voluminous. So, as you can see, there's definitely a theme here in how these ethiopian styles are put together. There'S usually a braid right in the middle, it sometimes has jewelry other times. It does not also they're, sometimes apart and then the back is usually left out, super voluminous and curly and unapologetic. So one hairstyle that i know of that is definitely from ethiopia. Are the slim thick braids i've been wanting to get these for a while, but your girls fingers can't do it, but i definitely love all of the beauty that comes from hairstyles in africa. Now that i got that part as straight as i possibly could clap for your girl, it was a struggle, so you're going to put that in a bantu knot, do a little dance because you did it and then you're going to get a wet washcloth for the Sides of your hair, so this is one of my favorite methods for slicking down my puffy natural hair, because the water just gets to the roots way faster than if i was to use a spray bottle. So, first of all, crispy braids can't be done without that. Murray'S edge wax so take some and put it around the part and on the flat surfaces of your hair. This is going to really make sure that none of the flyaways gets mixed in with the braid, so it's going to make the part look even sharper. So after you lay down all surfaces around the braid, make sure that you add some of that edge wax to the actual section that you're going to be braiding. This makes braiding so easy. It makes the sections that you pull apart so much more crisp and gives you an overall, better braid, so you're just going to grab the smallest piece in the very center of your hair and start braiding. It'S just that easy, but y'all see these grays in my hair. They literally came out of nowhere, and i am shook i'm social but anyway growing up. I used to have such a complex about my forehead. I wore bangs all the time and i remember my mom who's from st lucia she's a caribbean. She used to tell me rachel that beautiful black nubian ethiopian forehead don't cover it up, but she made me feel so good about my features and the way i looked and you guys can nobody tell me nothing about this extra large five head. Okay, it's becoming of me, these lips are becoming of me, so yeah rock the look rock whatever accentuates your features, the most don't hide it don't put it under a bushel honey because it's meant to shine the first impression of this main choice: the alpha biotin infused Styling gel is moisture. My hair feels extremely soft. As you can see, it immediately started popping my waves, and i love that. One thing i will say is that it's not a gel for some real, like extreme type hold honestly. When i put this on my roots, i feel like it kind of undid some of the work that the other gel did like the eco styler crystal gel, but that was okay for me, like i really really loved it. So i feel like it's not the greatest for slicking, but i'm going to show you what it does with the actual ponytail. So after i use my brush, i'm just going to take a tangle teezer. You can use a denman brush or any type of paddle brush. Just to make sure that all the hairs are going in the same direction, then i'm going to take my hair ties. I love the seamless hair ties if you don't know anything about them, they're kind of like a pantyhose material, but they are wonderful and they last forever. So we almost done hey yeah. We almost done. I got my eco styler gel about to put it on. Then i slick it on the edges, get down the flyaways hey. I cannot wrap so you just look down the edges. As you can see, it's cementing everything down. I got my edge brush, but i'm not really good at doing edges like that. So i'm going to try, i don't want to give you any alfalfa creases. I want to give you something: that's really going to look good. So if this doesn't go well, i'm just going to get off camera fix it a couple thousand times and then we're going to get into doing the ponytail. So i think i did a pretty good job on the edges now it's time for the ponytail. After putting on your scarf, so let that scarf sit on your head as long as you can, but let's get into this dry hair because i co-wash my hair and i literally put nothing on it at all. So let me tell you guys how i feel about this curls blueberry, coconut hair milk, so it retails for 15.99. That'S why i never tried it, but when i saw it on clearance at target, i was like okay, i definitely got ta, try it after trying it for the first time i wish i would have got like three bottles. I absolutely love it. It'S a leave-in conditioner and it's beautiful at moisturizing, the hair and just softening it. As you can see, you can see my curls popping through i just mouth to you that i love it because i really do um, but one thing i really appreciate about it is, although it does moisturize your hair, it has some slip quality. So it's pretty good at helping to detangle and separate those knots. So let's try the main choice: the alpha biotin infused, styling gel. I love it on the ponytail. It doesn't give a super eco styler gel hold, but it's very moisturizing and it actually really does define the curls. I like that, it's a soft hold and i really love that my hair responded to it immediately. So last but not least, this is the main choice. Do it fro the culture? This is a sheen spray. I love it very much. I'M really thinking about all the products i want to buy from curls and from the main choice, because wow wow so have you ever wondered? Why somebody's puff looks so voluminous and bouncy, and yet it still had definition. That'S because they added products and then they put that blow dryer in the roots, so try not to disrupt the very ends of your hair, but just try to get it as fluffy and as big as you possibly can. So. This is my final. Yet very extra extra step you just want to grab a little bit of braiding hair and making sure that it has the same thickness as your center braid. So once you grab your hair braid, it all the way to the very end and just put the hair to the side to get ready for the very last step. Okay, makeup: hey michael jackson, i'mma beat it so you're just gon na take that braid wrap it around the base of your ponytail and then you're going to take the hair that we just braided and attach a bobby pin to it. Stick it in the center of your ponytail holder and then just wrap it all the way around until there's no more braid left. You don't have to really secure this with an extra ponytail, as you can see the end kind of tapers off. So it really helps me, stick it in and i don't have to add anything to hold it once you're finished wrapping now it's time to get to the fun part. So i love to add little cuffs and little jewelry to my braids and singles or whatever, but sometimes the placement can be a little bit confusing. So the best advice i can give you about placing a jewelry in your hair. Just so it doesn't look. Super crazy is to create a little bit of distance from one braid to the other, make sure that there's a little bit of symmetry um. So it doesn't look ridiculous and if the braid is really thin, try and cut the cuff a little bit as you can see, the cuff at the top is a little too big later on. I did go in and cut it and then for the hooks, which i love very much. You just open it up and then close it once you have it attached in your hair, but at the end of the day, feel free to go off with how many braids and twists and clips you want to do for this hairstyle i like to add a Little bit of drama to the back as well. Just so you look in the front and you can't stop looking remember. We did wrap that braid around. So, if you wanted to add hooks around the braid, you can do that as well. But, ladies, that's pretty much it. I'M gon na put on some got to be glue, not gorilla, glue side bar. Do you guys believe that tessica brown did that for cloud or do you think it was an honest mistake? Let me know in the comment section below, and i can't wait to hear your opinions on how you like this look, so to make sure i don't leave anyone hanging. You could always use a drawstring, a knee-high, a cut up stocking to pull your hair back. This gives you so much more opportunities when it comes to how big and how full you want. This look to get so love. Thank you so much for watching this video. I love this look personally, i get so many compliments for it and i think you should try it.
