What is up you guys welcome back to my channel for today's video, I'm gon na be doing something I've been wanting to do for a while, and that is cutting my hair. So it's been probably like what six to seven months since I've last gon na cut. Last time I got a cut, it was the reso cut and I absolutely loved how it turned out, but unfortunately that is all the way in Jersey and then go ahead and take a flight right now with everything that's going on with covin. So I just had a that: I'm just gon na go ahead and cut my own hair, so I don't trust anybody to cut my hair and I live in North Carolina and there's really not that many stylists or specialists that actually, I don't think, there's anybody down Here that knows how to do the grease, Oh cut. I know there's a few salons that have stylists that know how to do the deeper cut and I've gotten it done once before. But honestly, I feel like I can do my own hair. I'Ve actually have a previous video, where I cut my long hair into layers I'll post it right here, if you guys haven't watched it, if you guys have a long hair and want to see how to cut your hand, to layers I'll post it right there. That way, you guys can go ahead and watch it, but I'm gon na go ahead and try to give myself some more volume. So I'm gon na cut my hair in two layers, give it a little bit more volume, because right now it just looks like it looks like my hair has no life, so it looks lifeless it's just sitting flat on my head and then it's starting to just Come out towards the ends and what I want is just more volume on the top and a little bit less volume on the bottom. So if you guys, I want to see how I cut my own hair, then just keep on watching. Alright, you guys so to start off. My hair is dry. I'Ve washed, my hair. I think it was like two days ago and all I put in my hair was leaving conditioner, so I'm gon na go ahead and wet my hair and I'm gon na come in here when it's wet. I think my previous video, I did it when it was dry where it was wet to know it was wet, and then I went in afterwards and said curl by curl when it was dry alright. So I went ahead in this angle, all my hair, so the next thing I'm gon na do is go. I'M gon na flip, my head over and I'm gon na. Do the unicorn points so for this technique? I'M actually did two unicorns and that's because I want to cut the length on the back, because I don't want it that long. I want it a little bit shorter. So, instead of going all the way to the top of my head, I'm gon na go ahead and put the ponytail more towards, like the crown of my head. That way, I am getting more hair towards the back and I'm gon na be able to cut a little bit shorter. Then, compared to. If I were to put the ponytail on the top of my head, I would have more length towards the back and it'll still kind of have its length, maybe cut just like a inch or so. But since I'm going for shorter hair, I'm like I said, I'm gon na put it on the crown and cut somewhere, and you just want to make sure that you're smooth your hair, because you don't want to have any bumps that way. You get each curl when you cut your hair, I'm gon na go ahead and comb the ponytail forward, and then I am gon na put it I'm gon na put my end in a ponytail. That way I have control. When I cut my hair, brushing my hair feels so thick, I'm not gon na cut a lot. I'M just gon na cut a little and then see how it looks hey guys. So this is about how much I'm gon na cut. It may be like what ancient a half to two inches no slipping away. I'D cut my hair, oh my gosh, and I'm gon na go ahead and cut it like this. That way, I can take some texture off of it, and so my ends are not as heavy and then we're gon na. Take it out in just a minute and see how it looks. I'M enough. True, alright guys, so I feel, like my hair, still looks pretty long, so I'm gon na go ahead and do that over again. Alright, you guys so remember, like I said, don't go all in at once, just cut little by little, because if you call it everything at once, you know you can't go back, unfortunately, because you cut it all off, but if you cut a little by little and You see that you want to cut some more. You can always go back and do that. So I think that what I'm gon na do so, it's still pretty long. So I'm gon na go ahead and come to me like another inch or two off. Oh okay. So I see some layer is coming on over here because it's shorter, let's see the back, so the back still seems pretty long and then getting more volume on the top. Are you guys, so I think I'm gon na go in one more time and just cut it a little bit more. So what I'm gon na do is I'm gon na go ahead and separate the top in the bottom, so I really don't want to cut any more off the top. Just what you want to cut is the back layer, alright guys. So now that I went ahead and cut my hair into more layers, I'm gon na go ahead and trim the back, because this is gon na give me a v-shape and I do not want the v-shape. I want more of like a u-shape so with my curls. So when my hair is curly, it gives me like a nice, a nice rounded look and not like a a v-shape. I just don't. I just don't wanna. I used to wear my hair like that. All the time when I was younger and that's the car I always just to get, but I really like how the reason cut gave me that nice rounded look and that's what I'm kind of looking for it. You do want to make sure that you part your hair down the middle, so now what you want to do is you want to comb out your hair coming out as much as you can, and you want to make sure that you are looking the opposite way Of your hair, so I'm gon na cut my the right side of my hair. So I'm gon na make sure that I'm looking towards the left and what you're gon na do this you're. Just gon na cut like a straight line across the bottom of the hair and you're just cutting the ends. That way, that will give you more of a straight that will give you more of a straight look and not give you that B, shape that you know who do not want. Are you guys, and the last part is gon na - be my bangs so to know exactly where your bangs start or end? I heard that this is the technique that you use, so you grab a comb and you place it right here by your forehead and wherever the comb starts. To lift is where your banks should start so right here so place. A coma against my forehead, and you can see right here, is where it starts to lift so right. There is where my bangs should start and just go all the way down sure ear. So now that we went ahead and partner with our bangs, you want to go ahead and create a small triangle which I already did right here and just cut a little piece off to see how short you want to cut your bangs. So my bangs, when I did cut my layers, they already cut pretty short, so I think I'm just gon na cut just a little tiny bit more. So it's like right on my chin, all right there you go hi guys, so I'm gon na go ahead and comb my hair. So now that we went ahead and cut the guide, we're gon na go ahead and cut the rest of the bang, and you want to make it to where it's going in an angle. So it just doesn't have that blunt cut. It just looks nicer when it falls, so I'm gon na go ahead and comb it. The hair towards the opposite side, making sure that it's in a steep angle to create that v-shape and I'm gon na go ahead and cut it exactly where I left off. With my guide and then just cut down - and there you go - you guys can see that it's going down the angle so now we're gon na do the same thing with the other side. All right you guys, so I think I am pretty satisfied with how my hair looks. I'M just gon na go ahead and style it, and then I will be right back to show you how it looks dry and then just add some finishing touches to see. If I need to slip some some parts when it's dry so I'll be right back, hey you guys, and this is how my hair turned out honestly, you guys, I think I did a pretty good job for not knowing what is that glue. What I was doing, I am NOT a hair stylist, so I really didn't know exactly what I was doing. I just looked through a lot of videos and try to see exactly what kind of look I was wanting and kind of went from there. So, for not really knowing what I was doing think I did a pretty good job. So if you guys don't like it, please just don't come at me at the comment. Just don't say anything, but if you guys do like it make sure to give this video a thumbs up and comment down below, and let me know if you guys would try it if you guys are looking for a shorter haircut or if you guys are looking For more volume, let me know your thoughts and let me know if you guys decide to do it, but that is a. Seyde R. Jackson: I am a professional hairstylist and I must say... not bad at all! Great job girl!

Minna Uyeda: Ok, I followed your video exact, except I left my bangs longer and just used that as a guide for the face frame. Now it’s so curly, bouncy and fresh! Best cut ever. Thank you.

Alleene Peterson: I just tried this on my hair and it turned out AMAZING!! We have a very similar curl pattern. I NEVER find anyone at a salon that knows how to cut my curly hair. I ask them ahead of time and they always say they do. The problem is that they don’t know that they don’t know how to cut curly hair! Thank you so much for this video!!!

healingyoga: You didn't do a "pretty good job" -- you did an AMAZING job! Your hair looks fabulous! I have curly hair and have gotten my hair cut by curly hair professionals and your hair looks even better than what the pros do. I just started cutting my own hair now, too, and I love it. Thank you for this excellent video!

Giuly Purple: Just tried it and it turned out so GOOD now I have the bouncy funny curls Ive always wanted!! Never going to an hairstylist again lol. Remember each curl is different and it's all about styling, having the right cut and a lot of patience and care You did a really good job girlll

Night Owl Media NZ - Diane T: Yassss hun! We have the same hair type and for years hairdressers have ruined it, this is so the look I've always asked for but never gotten. So gonna try this!!!!

Soleil J Maynor: Thank you soooooo much for making this video!! We have similar curl pattern and like the same length hair, and this is literally the most flattering haircut I’ve ever had. Never cut my own before but I did this morning and now I can’t stop looking at myself in the mirror

Mellissa Roman: All the way tried it and loved it. Thanks boo! I REFUSE to pay $200 for a dry cut for curls. TY! Good JOB! Lol go team!

Tanaka Ngwara: I've been so annoyed with my hair length lately, and my county just went on lockdown again so I couldn't get it cut! I just tried this, and it worked so well, I feel like myself again! Thanks for the tutorial :) Also your hair is gorgeous!

Anna Carolina: Trying this tomorrow, will be back for updates Update: I couldn't wait until tomorrow lol so i did it today and I'm in love with the results. I did my hair a little bit shorter but still looks like yours. I was so scared bc I never tried this before but having pacience and staying calm is the key.

Ana Fonseca: I’ve been thinking about doing it but scared. But after watching you, you gave me the confidence to do it. Thank you so much ☺️

Orlando Queen: I did this and recorded it on my channel! I absolutely LOVE the results! 10/10 do it y’all! This video def helped guide me thanks girl

Gather, Create, Live with Leslie H.: Looks so cute, I've done my own hair for 35 years and get compliments all the time. Hope this empowers you to keep doing it and save all that money. Off to color and highlight my hair.

Tabbitha Johnson: Alright girl, I'm definitely going to have to cut mine like this!! I have been doing the unicorn cut for a year and I absolutely love the way yours turned out! Thank you!!!! You look amazing!

T George: I have curly hair like you, but not as much ... anymore. I was looking for a diy on how to cut layers because I was too flat on top and heavy on the bottom. Your video was easy to follow and your hair turned out just like what I was looking for! Your your hair looks great. I'll let you know how mine turns out.

Shala Mapp: Tried this and my hair turned out absolutely beautiful!! Thank you!!

Elaine Garcia: BEAUTIFUL! Great job. I worked for a hair school several years ago in admissions. What I learned? CURLY HAIR IS NOT TEXT BOOK HAIR SO NO ONE CAN TEACH HOW TO CUT IT. I have curls exactly like yours. No one ever knew how to cut my hair. I’ve been to a Devacurl salon with a master stylist, and I also went to the Rezo cut salon you mentioned. Not happy. They still didn’t do it right. So much money wasted. One of the cosmetology students at the school I worked in had very curly hair, curlier than mine and it was perfectly layered and so long. I asked her one day “who cuts your hair?” She said “I don’t let anyone TOUCH my hair I do it myself”. I asked her how and she literally said “flip it upside down, hold it in front, cut off whatever sticks out”. This came from a person who was ready to graduate with a hair license and was taught how to professionally cut hair. I didn’t believe her at first and also didn’t try it for months. That was 3 years ago and I’ve been cutting my own since. (Let’s not even discuss trying to let a “professional” apply products and try to style it I love when they just keep running their fingers through the curls while blow drying yikes). Tips: 1) The trick is to do it in baby steps, just like this video. 2) Go on AMAZON and buy a cheap pair of 5-6 inch shears. You don’t need fancy, you just need really sharp. It’s too expensive to get shears sharpened, so when they get dull just retire them and buy another pair for like 20 bucks. 3) Buy a Wet Brush (about $10), it works awesome and doesn’t break your hair. That’s it. Cheap, easy, quick. Happy cutting.

Veil Break: Beautiful. I did this technique on my hair last week. It turned out awesome :)

Simply Mel: I’m loving it !! I was wanting to cut my own hair today and this definitely gave me the extra push. Thanks for sharing !

Stephanie Douglas A View From A-Broad: I've watched a TON of videos the last 23 hours by professionals and not. I like your method the best so far. I like that you are just so relaxed, normal, and doing your hair in a situation many of us are in right now with COVID and family. So, in honour of how down-to-earth you are, going to give you cut a try.

Queenofstitches Warrior: Another hairstylist here with natural thick, long, curly hair. Looks amazing and you did great! And to be hounest, it even looks a lot better then a lot of so called curly hairstylist make of it! That’s why i never been to a curly salon, i cut my own hair but instead of the Unicorn cut, i cut technically. The result look the same in curly hair but if you would straighten or blow it out, you would see some errors in layers matching etc. But who cares if you have curls you can get away with some cheating;). Good job sweety❣️

Emily Taylor: Just followed this routine and my curls feel so much bouncier xx

Sadie Amadiz: I'm so doing this tomorrow! Thank you for sharing your process. It turned out amazing!

Alyssa Clark: Worked amazing! Thank you so much! I have scheduled a Rizo curly cut before and with consultation ($30), cut($120) and tip ($20), it was so much money!

Macsie: It's GORGEOUS and almost exactly what I'm looking for! Thank yooouuu!

Rebecca Arzola: You have gorgeous hair! I trimmed my hair using this video and my curls feel fresh and alive. Thank you.

voicesinthewoods: You did GREAT!!! Thank you so much for your tutorial! I deal with chemical sensitivities and can’t go to Salons because of hair dyes, hairsprays an perms used. So I’m on my own as far as cutting my curly hair. This video REALLY HELPS!!!! Thank you so much!!! You saved the day!

Iris Higgins : Thank you! This was the simplest of these videos I’ve watched and it worked great! My hair looks and feels so much better now!

SC Nurse: We have similar hair. I love how yours came out! I’ve been doing my own unicorn hair cuts since February. I’m trying your techniques to try changing it up. Hopefully it comes out as good as yours!

JesusIsThe OnlyWayToTheFather: Dang girl you did an amazing job!!! I'm watching vids because I want to cut my hair shorter...I used to have beautiful spiral curls just like yours but since I've had 2 kids my hair is more waves than curls. My hair is longer than it used to be( basically to my butt when wet& brushed whereas before it was shoulder/mid-boob length)....I bought the Marc Anthony strictly curls products & I'm hoping those with cutting my hair shorter will bring some curls back

Chrystal Thornton: You have some of the best hair I've seen on YouTube. Really thick and just the right amount of curl. You can probably get away with DIY better than most people because any mistakes just don't show as much. Really great job.

Jayme Brown: omg this is exactly what ive been looking for! im gonna try this and hopefully get the look i want!

Marga Martinez: Absolutely beautiful!! I’m letting my hair grow out because of bleaching and I’m ready for a cut. Definitely gonna try ur method. Thanks!!

Slenna Yong: Your curls are gorgeous and this cut looks amazing I love the volume

Momma Bear: Looks so good ! I’ve paid for 2 expensive curly girl cuts that left big gaps in back of my hair ! Your looks awesome ! Good job

Aurora Sanchez: You did a great job! I followed your instructions and was very satisfied with the results!! Thank you, sweetie!

Angela T: You did a great job! Looks beautiful

Shantal Rampersad: It looks amazing!!!!! Definitely going to try this method. Thanks for the guide!

Lena CreoleBeauty82: I found this video and followed your directions. All I can say is wow! Thank you. I was trying to figure out the rounded part I the back and you help so much! Thank you for posting this.

Kimberly Wilde: Wow! Thank you so much for this video. I knew there had to be a way I could cut my hair. I can rarely find someone who can do a cut I want. I followed your steps except I did it dry as my hair is really long wet and bounces up a lot dry. This allowed me to see in real time the length I would get. It took me less than 20 minutes and saved me hundreds. My curls look amazing and not weighed down. Thank youuuuuu! ❤️

Ga Sir: Looks soooo nice. I’m saving this video to follow when my hair grows more

ScorpioCrystal: About to trim my hair, and going to try this technique. Yours looks great ☺️

LuMary Galletti Robinson: Thanks for the video... I could never get the cut to end up a curve and always hated that V. Ugh! Finally I can cut my own hair and get it how I want it. Thanks again for the video!

Life9 9: Great video and good explained. Thanks a lot. Beautiful hair btw! ❣

Minna Uyeda: New subscriber. Looks awesome. I saw manes by Mell do this on her sister, and you did it really great. I’m going to do it this week!

Stephanie Eskander: Yes! I'm absolutely going to try this! i've been growing out my hair for about a year and i hate the way it looks like a triangle when it dries. I also got the rezo cut about a year and a half ago but now its too long and has no shape! Also don't wanna go to a hairdresser right now with all this covid stuff so i'm gonna try this!! Thanks for the awesome video <3

Just wondering, where is the place in Jersey you get yours cut? I've tried so many places all over NYC and nobody has done a great curly cut. So frustrating.
